Title: Aka Nichibotsu

Chapter 3: Watashi no Sensei

Almost three months ago, Kagome-oneesan took me in. I met many so many nice people. Her friends are very nice and they even agreed to help teach me. Kikyou-obasan and Sango-obasan are so nice. Kikyou-obasan is teaching me proper etiquette and how to formulate battle plans. The only way Sesshoumaru-sama would let oneesan keep me, was if I learned the ways of his royal house. Oneesan wanted me to learn how to fight with a katana, so Sango-obasan is teaching me. She told me that when I complete my training with her, they would make me a katana just like theirs. They all have similar katanas and they are so cool.

Kikyou-obasan's katana sheath and hilt are pure black and it looks like a polished stick of black wood, no one can tell it's a katana. But, the hilt has a purple rose etched on it. The blade is the most beautiful part of the sword. All along the blade there is a phoenix etched onto the length. And when the light hits it, the phoenix flames purple. But, Sango-obasan's katana is the best one out of all four. Just like Kikyou-obasan's katana- the sheath and the handle are pure black. But, there is a pink rose etched on the hilt, instead of a purple rose. And the phoenix looks like it's in flight and when she moves her katana, it's almost like it's moving. And just like Kikyou-obasan's phoenix, it looks like it's on fire, but the color is pink instead of purple. Then, there is oneesan's katana is the same as Kikyou-obasan's katana, except that there is a blue rose and the phoenix flames blue. And last, there is Sesshoumaru-sama's katana. His is exactly the same as oneesan's and Kikyou-obasan's but his has a silver rose and his phoenix flames silver.

Anyways, back to my training. Oneesan told me that what I just did was a tangent. I think that's what she said. Sango-obasan is also teaching me how to make weapons, poisons and how to fight with many different weapons. But I prefer the katana, and not really any other weapon, but she told me that it's good to know how to fight with many other weapons. I always have fun sparring with her, because she doesn't hold back when we're fighting. Oneesan and Kikyou-obasan always do. I think they're afraid that they'll hurt me.

Finally, oneesan is teaching me how to write, my numbers and sorcery. She wants to only teach me helpful magic like healing and barriers, but I wanna learn the dark arts and summoning. She can summon a massive light pink dragon from the God realm of Reikai. Only she can do this because she is pure. She taught me all about the different types of reiki and told me that she, Kikyou-obasan and Sango-obasan can use seiki while I use youki along with Inu-jisan, Sesshoumaru-sama and Shippou-jisan. While Miroku-jisama and other powerful ningens use reiki. Anyways, oneesan thinks I might be able to summon a dragon of my own, but she would only show me how to when I completed her training.

I just can't wait until my training is completed. They said that they would make me a part of the Shi Karura (Four Phoenixes). They are legendary. And they are powerful. I'm so glad my oneesan is powerful. With her, I won't be shunned anymore.

My oneesan wants me to go to bed now, so I guess I haveta.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Hiei-chan? Are you in bed yet?" Kagome's soft voice asked him as she silently walked in to his room.

"Not yet oneesan," Hiei replied as he shut the book he was writing in.

"..What were you doing?" She asked him as she eyed the book from behind him.

"Just practicing my letters in that book you gave me to help me practice my letters," Hiei answered her as he began to walk over to his bed.

"You're becoming very good with your letters..." Kagome told him as she helped into his bed, "You might even surpass me. The students always do."

"I'll never be able to beat you, oneesan, or Kikyou-obasan, or Sango-obasan, and definitely not Sesshoumaru-sama," Hiei told her as he yawned loudly.

"If you work hard, you just might.. You just might, watashi no Hiei-chan," Kagome said to him as she kissed him on the cheek.

"Can you sing me a song oneesan?" Hiei asked sleepily.

"Of course... which song do you want to hear?" kagome asked him.

"The one song you always sing.... Please?" Hiei gave her the puppy dog eyes and she chuckled at him. She knew he always liked to hear her sing because her voice seemed to enchant everything that heard it. Being a sorceress has it's ups.

"Everytime I see the fireflies, I can't help but cry. Everytime the wind sighs, I hope it's you. And everytime, I hear whimpers in the night, I can't help but check your room. Every little things reminds me of you. And I can't help but cry, everytime. I always wondered what would become of you, Now I wonder where did you go? You're probably grown up now, With a family of your own. Did you remember your promise to me? Will you impress me with all you've learned? If we met again, some day, please tell me your travels And that way, you'll know- you put that smile on my face, for the times to come..." Kagome stopped singing and tucked Hiei in and gave him one last peck on the cheek.

She silently left the room and went to her own. Kagome knew that sleep would not come and take her swiftly because the Shikon no Tama kept on reacting to some unknown force. And this night was no exception. She tossed fitfully, always trying to ignore the ache of the Shikon no Tama against her breast.

"Oneesan? Where are you?" a scared whisper reached her ears when she was so close to sleep. "Oneesan? Have you left me here all alone?" Kagome could hear the faint sounds of crying.

Quickly, she got out of bed and hastily tied a robe on. Looking out into the hallway, she saw Hiei wandering around with small sobs shaking his slight frame.

"Hiei-chan? What are you doing out of bed so late?" Kagome asked softly as she walked towards him.

Hiei immediately latched on to her legs and began to tell her about the nightmare he had had. He told her that he had dreamt that she had left him all alone in a small town without even telling him goodbye. In the middle of telling her about his dream, she had picked him up and brought him to her room.

"Hiei-chan.. Know this... I would only leave you when eternity has disappeared. And since eternity is 'til the end of time, I'll be here until the worlds die," Kagome soothed him as she placed him in her bed.

"Hontou?" Hiei asked her as he brushed the last of his tears away.

"Hontou," She replied as she pulled out a small box. It looked like a small, oval, porcelain box that was encrusted with small jewels. Kagome placed it on the small table next to the bed and opened the top. It began to play a soft piano melody.

"This is the melody that goes along to the lullaby I sing for you.. I want you to have, that way, I'll always sing you to sleep," Kagome told him as she climbed in to her bed next to him.

"You're giving this to me? Arigatou oneesan!" Hiei replied as he hugged her.

"Your welcome Hiei-chan.. Hopefully it will comfort you as it comforted me when I was younger.." Kagome told him softly.

"What do you mean oneesan?" Hiei asked her.

"My okaasan gave that to me and she used to sing me the same lullaby I sing to you.. Now, you'll always have it to remind you of me," Kagome explained to him.

"What happened to your okaasan?" Hiei yawned, the song finally making him fall asleep again.

"She hasn't been born yet," Kagome whispered to him as he fell asleep.

She listened to the melody continue to play as she pulled Hiei closer to her. Listening to the melody and Hiei's soft breathing, she fell asleep with a peaceful look on her face.

That was how it went for almost a year. Hiei hardly used his own room anymore since he always stayed in Kagome's room. Miroku, Shippou and InuYasha had been coming around a lot more recently, instead of just twice a year, and they would always go and talk with Sesshoumaru behind closed doors.

InuYasha would spar with Hiei everytime they stayed for more than a few days. Kikyou would always heal Hiei during the battle, so that he would always beat InuYasha. And InuYasha took the defeats gracefully, which shocked everyone the first time it happened. Apparently a sly silver fox had been able to knock some sense into his thick head and kick his ego down a few notches when not in battle. Yet, he was still the man Kikyou loved and married. Anyone could see that they love each other, even though they try to act like they don't sometimes.

Even Miroku had helped Hiei out with some of his magic. He taught Hiei to put his youki into small ofudas, daggers, and even rocks so that he could always have a deadly weapon. And even Sango and Miroku's relationship had heated up a little. Everyone thought that it was about time too. They had been married about two hundred years and just now, they start to heat up their relationship. They only reason they were still together was because Miroku gave up groping any girl besides Sango or in his immediate family, just to keep things lively.

And Shippou would also help Hiei with training his eyes, so he could see things many could not. Shippou would use his illusions and Hiei would have to find the real one. When they weren't training, they were playing in the gardens with Rin. Since Rin wasn't a youkai when the tama made her immortal, she couldn't age past her age of that day. The same for Kagome, Sango, and Miroku. Since InuYasha, Sesshoumaru and Shippou were youkai, they would keep on aging until they reached a certain point.

But, this time, it was their longest stay yet and they forbad anyone from going outside of the castle grounds. Everyone seemed to be on edge as if they could feel that something was coming. Only Rin and Hiei were oblivious to it and so, they had no idea why everyone was acting this way. Yet, even to them, they knew something sad was going to happen. And that was proved that night.

The little box was playing the soft melody as Kagome and Hiei slept peacefully together. It had to be a little after midnight when the box stopped playing and someone gently shook Kagome awake. Hiei woke up first and saw InuYasha trying to get Kagome to wake up, but she kept on mumbling something like, 'five more minutes... I dun wanna go to school..'

"Kagome wake up! Stupid lazy bitch!" InuYasha mumbled underneath his breath, knowing it would wake Kagome up.

"InuYasha. Osuwari!" Kagome sat up in bed and looked down at InuYasha, "What are you doing here when normal people are asleep!?"

"Sesshoumaru's callin' an emergency meeting. Everyone is waiting for you to come," InuYasha told her as the spell wore off.

"Alright.. I'll go since he never calls emergency meetings," Kagome said as she got out of bed and put on a robe, "Hiei-chan.. Go back to sleep, I'll be back soon."

Hiei tried to go back to sleep as soon as she left, but found he couldn't. Something was trying to tell him something was going to happen. Something sad. He stayed up and tried to figure out what that something was, but found he couldn't. A couple hours before down, he fell asleep without knowing it.

The door opening woke him up a few hours later. He saw Kagome standing there at the door with a pale face before she walked over to the bed and gently shook him, whispering his name. The tone of her voice told him that something had happened.

"What is it oneesan?" Hiei asked her sleepily.

She stood there silently, as if battling with herself. "Hiei-chan... Get dressed and pull out a few extra pairs of clothes," she told him softly.

He did as she had said, but something was telling him to ask her why? Why did he have to grab extra clothes? "Oneesan? What's going on?"

He saw her lip tremble for a second before she knelt down next to him and took his clothes from him. "Hiei-chan... War is coming here. Sesshoumaru-sama said that he was letting all servants and anyone who wished to go, to get on the caravan he arranged and go to the safe town. I put your name on his list of people leaving," Kagome told him as she put his clothes into a small bag.

"You're coming with me, right oneesan?" Hiei asked her, already knowing the answer.

"...I cannot Hiei-chan.. But, Rin-chan is going with you, so you won't be alone.." her voice cracked with emotion at the end.

"Why can't you come with me?" Hiei asked her sadly.

Kagome walked over to her desk and pulled out a gold box. "..Because, I am one of Sesshoumaru-sama's generals.. I have to lead the army with Sango-chan and Kikyou-chan," Kagome answered him as she tried to hold back her tears.

"...Don't you love me anymore oneesan?" Hiei asked as he looked at the ground.

"Don't you ever doubt my love for you for one second! I love you, I always will and nothing will ever change that," she turned around to face him as her eyes shined with unshed tears, "I'm putting you on that caravan because I love you."

"Why can't I stay here with you?" Hiei asked as he watched her put some things into a small pouch.

"Because Hiei-chan.. I want you to live with a gentle light surrounding your days always. I don't want you to know the nightmare reality until I absolutely cannot save you from it... I want you to live in a world with blue skies filled with happiness, and where you can see the stars. Not what this place will soon be. Where the skies will be grey with despair and the sunrises will be stained red from blood," she closed the pouch and tucked it underneath Hiei's shirt, "I want you to be away from this place so you won't have to worry if you'll live to see the sunset and if you'll make it through the night to see the sunrise.

"I don't want you to watch the sunset or sunrise and try to engrave it in your heart because you don't know if that'll be the last time you'll see it. I'd rather the reason you'd engrave it into your heart would be because of it's beauty. I don't want you to know this world of death and despair at your age, you should only know the world of happiness and hope," Kagome told him as she tried to keep herself from crying.

"But, I don't wanna leave you, oneesan," Hiei said to her as he cried.

She grabbed the small box and placed it inside of the small bag before she put it on him, "We'll meet again, when the war is over. We can live in the safe town for awhile.. But, we will meet again, I promise.. Anyways, you have the music box to remind you of me," she said softly to him as she kissed away his tears.

"..Promise?" He asked her.

"I swear on my life," She replied to him.

Kagome stood up and looked around the room for something. She spotted it above the fireplace. A magnificent sword, made not to break except under the most extreme circumstances and beautifully designed to withstand magic channeling. She grabbed a belt to hold the sword and placed it on Hiei.

"The caravan leaves in a few minutes, we have to go now," Kagome told Hiei as she grabbed his hand and ran out to the front gates with Hiei.

Everyone was there, wanting to tell him goodbye and see him off.

"See ya later, runt," InuYasha said to him as he ruffled his hair before Kikyou stepped on his foot.

"Keep on practicing Hiei-kun.. You have to show us what you have learned when we meet again," Kikyou told him as she gave him a quick hug.

"Hn. This Sesshoumaru does not want to leave Rin in your hands, but this Sesshoumaru knows that you will protect her," Sesshoumaru told him icily, but his eyes soften a bit when he looked at him.

"Take care of yourself Hiei-kun! We'll all miss ya," Shippou told him with a smile, never once showing any sign of sadness.

"Hopefully we will be joining you in the safe town soon, Hiei-kun. Keep on practicing so that way we can watch InuYasha get taken down a few more notches," Miroku told him with a small smile.

"We will all miss you and try to join soon, Hiei-chan," Sango said to him as she knelt down to his level and pulled a necklace off of her neck, "this is to remind you of us. And so we will always be there with you," Sango placed the necklace on his neck.

"We will see you soon Hiei," Kagome hugged Hiei, "and always remember that I will be the soft breeze that will guide you until we meet again," Kagome whispered into his ear before she placed him on the wagon.

"Bye Everyone," Hiei waved as the wagon moved away from them. Rin was right beside him, waving as well.

Everyone waved back except for Kagome. She had her back facing him as she leaned against a tree. Hiei cried all the way to the city because Kagome didn't watch him leave.
