Bring Me To Life
Ch.4: To Fight For the Right to Escort
By: DumbAssPunk (a.k.a. Emerald_Punkish_Fairie_Dust)
&nb sp; Yusuke slouched back in his chair, rolling his eyes as Kurama continued talking with Genkai about the two girls...or rather, was trying to...It seemed that Genkai wasn’t supplying well enough to Kurama’s curiosity. *Definitely because of the kitsune in him...* He watched as Genkai’s hand tightened around her cup, and wondered idly to himself as to whether or not he should warn Kurama of flying cups...*Naw...*
&nbs p; Kurama sighed, tapping his fingers on the table to relieve frustration. “Lady Genkai, there must some sort of reason you could supply us with as to why they have no scent.” He frowned. “It’s like they’re not even on this astral plane...”
; Genkai glared. “I don’t have to tell anyone anything, alright kid? Now if you want to know, you’re either going to have to ask them yourselves, or ask Hiei.” She grinned evilly at Hiei. “Surely he knows.”
& nbsp; Hiei settled icy orbs on the teacher, fantasizing a slow painful death of shredding, dicing, and bashing to a bloody pulp. “And why would I know that? They have mental barriers, or are you too old to even notice them, woman?”
& nbsp; Genkai rolled her eyes. *Imbecile.* “You’re even stupider than I thought. Now get out of my gardens, and off my grounds, all of you.” She glared at the nearly dozing Yusuke. “INCLUDING YOU, DIMWIT!!” He stuck his tongue out at her as he pulled himself to his feet from where he’d fell on the floor. “You know where the girls are, so go get them.”
&n bsp; Kurama’s brow rose. “We may know where the younger one is, if she’s still there, but we know not where the eldest may be.” The all stood, patiently waiting for her reply.
“Then you’re just going to have to find them, now aren’t you? Sango will be somewhere along the borders of my land, Kagome should be where she said she would be. Now get out before I level you all to the floor.”
& nbsp;
---------
&nbs p; Kagome scowled as she felt the four life forces from before coming closer. Unlike Sango, she’d not bothered to learn their names, for when would she see them again? It seemed that it would be sooner than she’d ever wanted. She sighed, leaning on the sun roof at the top of the ceiling, glancing at its complexly painted designs she’d once drawn upon them long ago. Shrugging, she contemplated her appearance. It wouldn’t do to be able to be easily seen, and silver eyes glowed in the dark quite well. So, she then looked through a black veil that she Summoned to herself with its corresponding outfit as they opened the door quietly, stepping warily in. She grinned as they searched about, gripping her staff lightly. It might do to have some fun...
All four stood in the middle of the dojo, shoulder to shoulder in a sort of square, to where they could see from each direction. Kagome snorted lightly. *A lot of good that does.* Looking idly down at her long, cerulean nails, she pondered on what she felt like doing.
- --------
; Yusuke glared at the wall he was facing. “Look it, obviously the stupid wench isn’t here, ya know! I’m feeling really idiotic here, standing in a circle, staring at a wall.”
&n bsp; Kurama rolled his eyes, but couldn’t help but relate a small bit with him, for it did feel stupid. “It feels like a disturbance is here, and so it is better to stay together, than spread out and make ourselves vulnerable.” An uneasy feeling swept over him after he finished, and he saw the two humans shudder from the same feeling, and Hiei’s hand on his hilt tightened.
&nbs p; A voice as faint as a whisper floated around them. “You’re both right, in a sense.” Then everything happened at once.
---------
&nb sp; The boy with the slicked back hair made up her mind. *We’ll see who the ‘stupid wench’ is when I’m through with him!* Calling forth to the ground water in the surrounding ground about them, she sent them a message, and then sprang into action. Silently freefalling from the rafters of the domed ceiling, she fell in the middle of their crude circle, first relieving the fox of his seeds, then taking the dagger from Yusuke’s boot and Kuwabara’s inner bicep. Knowing better than to try and take the Apparition’s katana at the moment, she instead kicked the two humans hard in the back, ramming her staff into the fox’s unsuspecting back.
They all sprang back up, to see a figure in a ninja’s veiled fighting outfit. The fox went into his hair to create some sort of weapon. His eyes widened momentarily before reaching into his boot, to get a spare seed that’d been stuffed in there a few weeks ago. He quickly formed his whip, seeing both humans get up, recognizing they didn’t have their hand weapons either. The apparition was already a blur, coming straight at the ninja, katana drawn. The ‘ninja’ merely sidestepped the attack, a quarterstaff coming up to parry his blade idly.
“Now why would you even think of attacking me?” She smirked as the demon glared, pulling back his sword to strike towards her side. She had to admit- he was good. Jumping, she transported herself in a blur to the other side of the room. She looked up quickly to see the two humans charging her at her new position. Shrugging, she pulled out their own weapons against them. Flipping over their heads, she froze in mid air above their heads. Her veils were officially defying gravity as she hovered upside down in front of them. Smiling, her glowing eyes entranced them as she whispered, “And you think you could defeat me?” Quickly she reached out, shoving them both back with minimal damage before going into a hard dive to the left. Glaring, she looked back to see the demon standing a bit away from where she’d last been. She blinked as she saw a small drip of blood drop off his blade. Glancing quickly down, she saw the tear in her veils. A brow rose as she whispered, “You’re good.”
&n bsp; Hearing the lightest of footfalls behind her, she quickly jumped up onto a training bar. Turning, she saw the fox had been trying to sneak up on her. Now that he no longer held that element, he merely struck out, his long whip wrapping itself firmly around her waist. She grimaced lightly as the sharp briars dug into her flesh. He smiled grimly and whispered to her, “Now that that’s over with...”
She tapped him on the shoulder, which seemed to startle him a bit. After waiting for a moment, she asked, “You were saying?” She watched as he glanced back at where his whip was now hanging empty in mid air. Shrugging, she decided to bring him back to Earth, and brought a wisp of Pure Power to tug it out of his hands, tossing it across the room. Blinking, she sidestepped to the right as the taller human went to grab her about the waist. She ‘tsk’ed. “Now, now. Hadn’t your mother ever told you that to touch a woman against her will is impolite?” Rolling her eyes, she glanced to where the other human was powering up an attack. “Don’t bother. I can see your aura already, thus it’s just as easy to sidestep as this big oaf.” Yawning, she jumped once more as the small demon and the fox ‘team attacked’ her. Jumping off the edges of the walls, she was soon up to the crevice of the high dome ceiling. Brow raised, she lifted the latch of the sun roof, and slipped out, letting her voice carry through the air. “Until next time, boys.”
---------
&n bsp; Yusuke cursed, watching the thin, veil-clad figure slip out the window deftly. “Why is it that they have to be such a pain?!” He glared, leaning against the wall. “It’s stupid!”
Hiei snorted, jumping up to slip out the window as well. Kurama watched them all with a sense of slight wonderment. “I suppose if they were anything less, we wouldn’t be needed to escort them, Yusuke. Be glad that Hiei is following her, or else we might have had some trouble finding them.”
&n bsp; Hiei jumped back into the building. “She’s gone.”
&n bsp; Yusuke laughed at Kurama’s slightly dumbfounded expression. “You were saying, Kurama?” He glanced over to see Kuwabara leaving the dojo, and followed him at his own pace, the others following behind him.
----------
&nb sp; “It just doesn’t make sense, Sango. That’s all there is to it.” Kagome hovered above the ground pretzel style, floating next to her sister as she did her rounds about the perimeter. Sango’s steps went unheard by even the best of ears or equipment, for she walked above the ground, not upon it as she checked for any unwanted demons or evil beings.
Sango’s eyes rolled at her younger sister, and she took the staff deftly from Kagome’s hands to hit her directly on the forehead, sending her sprawling through the air. Waiting until she recollected herself and was floating at pace with herself again, Sango merely shrugged. “Obviously Kaede wants us to get along with them. Though I can’t say that your fight wasn’t justified, I still wonder at their purpose for associating towards us at all.” She tilted her head to the side as Kagome mulled over the words presented to her, listening at the faint whisper the Wind was pulling her towards. Moving her steps towards the sound, she switched to Telepathy. ~ I do believe your sparing friends are come to call upon us. ~
^ Hmph. Go figure. And here I thought they’d run off after my fun with them. ^ Kagome looked down at the robes she was wearing. What one might call a traveling monk’s attire (if that monk had a womanly figure); it was a deep blue with silvery lining, to accent her features. Her jewel upon her forehead was specked with deep green, to show contemplation, though it was starting to speck with black to show her annoyance. She let a small frown turn her violet lips as she looked over towards where she could now here the faintest of rustle on the path of Earth separating them. ^ Well, let’s go say ‘hi’. ^ Pulling back the branch of the final line of shrubs separating the two groups, she smiled at the males in front of them.
“It seems that Fate has caused us to meet again, and so soon as well.”
---------
Yusuke nearly jumped out of his skin as the two women appeared in front of them. “What the.....?!” He looked over to Kuwabara and the rest, who looked as baffled if not as openly as him, then back at the girls. “Where’d you come from?”
Kagome smirked, eyes glowing in darkened humor. “With all the noise you four make, I’d be surprised if you’d hear an elephant if it were charging at you with its entire herd.”
Kurama cleared his throat before Yusuke could stop sputtering long enough to speak. “Please excuse our earlier trespasses against you, Lady Sango. We humbly apologize most sincerely and shall now be on our way. Good day to you both, m’ladies.” He bowed low, then ushered his speechless friends away from them, back towards Genkai’s house.
Kagome and Sango both looked at each other in veiled shock. What were those men up to? Their retreating backs continued to become further and further away at a most steady pace...
“Wait!”
