Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction / InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Brother's Battle ❯ Chapter 1

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Well, since you, more than likely, do not know what I'm talking about, I'll start at the beginning of the school year . . .

<Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep>

I've never understood why humans had to come up with the most annoying thing in the world to wake one's self up.

<Beep, Beep, Beep>

Is that monestrous contraption, that is made to torture people, ever going to SHUT UP?!?!?!

<Beep, Beep, Beep, Be-CRASH!>

Ahh . . . blessed silence.

"Kagome!! Up and at `em! First day of school!" A voice downstairs, otherwise known as mom, yelled.

" `M UP!!" Came my oh so intelligent reply. I roused myself enough to get out of bed and to turn on the shower.

Ahh, I hated the beginning of the school year with a passion. It's so hard to wake up at 6 o'clock in the morning when you're used to sleeping in until 10 at the earliest.

`Of course it probably didn't help that you were up until one in the morning the night before.'

`True, but I couldn't go to sleep.' I argued with my subconscience.

Hmm, "I" answered back.

Twenty minutes later I stepped out of my room. Clean and awake. I ran down the stairs and grabbed a pop-tart while telling to mom that I'll be back around 5 tonight because I was going over to the boys' house.

*~^_^~*

It was a nice morning I thought. `Maybe we can go to the park after school.' I thought with a nod of my head. I walked down the block that separated our houses. I walked for about three minutes and stopped in front of a three story house that was close to a mansion. It was brick with black shutters and two columns that went up to the porch roof. They were about 8 ft. tall. And it had a hunter green door with a half-circle window at the top. The front yard was full of plants and trees. No doubt the work of Kurama.

Kurama and Youko were brother's and both demons. They could both control plants but Youko could control the elements in addition. He didn't like to mess with plants that much. He said they were too `girly'. I had a good laugh with that while Kurama snickered quietly behind his hand. You see, Youko has long silver hair that reaches his waist and has been mistaken for a girl more than once with his feminine features. Of course you don't want to say that to his face. You'll most likely lose a few teeth and more than likely have a black eye in addition.

You see he didn't take too kindly to being compared to a girl. He was one of those paranoid men who thought that his image would be ruined if he did anything that could be construed as a girl. Kurama on the other hand also had long hair that reached the middle of his back. It was a scarlet red with a slight wave to it. When people mistook him for a girl, he would just smile and wave off their apologies like it didn't bother him. Which it didn't. It was surprising how different two brothers could be when they came from the same parents.

While Youko took the more demon approach to life, Kurama took the more human approach. It was easy to tell who fit in better in public. But in some ways they were both the exact same. Just never tell Youko that, he thinks Kurama is a disgrace for the way he acts. Anyways where was I? Oh yes, the ways they were the same . . . well for one they both spend an outrageous time on their hair. I think that it is hilarious the way the stand in the mirror for half and hour fixing their hair and clothes trying to make themselves perfect. And Youko doesn't like to be compared to a girl. He spends more time in front of the mirror than I do.

Another thing they agree on is cars. They were both in love with an `86 Chevrolet Monty Carlo SS, black, 400 small-block with a 400 turbo hydromatic transmission, and posive track rear-end. (AN: we have one like this . . . It is AWESOME!!) That is about the extent of their similarities.

I walked up the walk-way and up the steps to open the door and stepped in. I had known Kurama and Youko, along with their parents, since I was a small child and this was almost like my home and they excepted me like on of their children. I think Mr. Minamino (their father obviously) was hoping that I would perhaps get married with one of his sons in the future. Right now that was unthinkable! They were like my brothers! Eww! I could never be romantically involved with my brother-like friend.

I walked up a set of grand stair cases, there are two, one on either side of the main hall, and I walked down the hall that was to the left of it. Two doors own and on the right. I knocked.

"Just a minute please!" Someone called from the other side. A few seconds later a boy with red hair and green eyes opened the door.

"Hey Kurama," I said, "you almost ready to leave?"

"Hello Kagome, and yes I just have to run downstairs to grab some breakfast and then I'm ready." Kurama said.

"Alright, I'll see if PP's ready yet." I walked past him as he headed down the stairs. I walked two doors further down and knocked on a closed door to the left.

"Hold on!" Another voice shouted. This voice was vastly different from Kurama's. Where Kurama's was sot and gentle this one was more masculine. While Kurama's voice would make female faun over him, this person's voice, otherwise known as Youko, would make females faint. And he relished this fact.

"Hurry up PP!" It's almost time to go!" I yelled through the door. Suddenly it opened and a man with silver hair that was a head taller than me, compared to with Kurama's 2 inches, glared down at me.

"Do Not call me `PP'." He furiously stated.

You see it all started a few years ago, we were all together and Youko had been whining about something and was rattling off some very disturbing images. Somebody had made him mad and a teacher came before he could do anything. Anyways as he was saying what he would like to do to this particular person, I said he was a `problemed person' and then abbreviated it to `PP' (AN: hehe poor Youko) of course him being furious with the name had nothing to do with the reason I kept calling him that. And so from then on, he became known as `PP' to me. I was never mean enough to say it in public to embarrass him like he had me on more tan one occasion.

"What? Do you not like that name or something?" I asked innocently.

"Yeah, about as much as I like you," Youko said with sarcasm dripping from eery word "and I like you about as much as I would like a hole in my head."

"Ahh, I knew that you liked me!" I said while grinning and glomping him.

"Heh, whatever." He said while pushing me off and walking toward the stairs, headed towards the kitchen. I walked with him.

"So, are you ready for the first day of school?" I asked while opening the door that lead into the kitchen.

"No." He stated in a deadpan voice. "School is for inferior humans that don't know enough to teach themselves and aren't clever enough to get out of it. I would be able to if I had a human parent but, thank God, I don't. And demon parent's are much more attentive."

We were walking to the island in the middle of the kitchen. I grabbed an apple while Youko got a banana.

"Hello Youko." Kurama said. He had been siting at the island eating his pop-tart.

"Hmm." was his reply.

"Hello children." Came another voice. An older man had just walked in. He was Mr. Minamino. He had silver hair like Youko but green eyes like Kurama. He was slightly taller than Youko so he obviously towered over me. He had a slim build but wasn't weak like you would think of somebody that thin. I had seen him do some pretty amazing stuff. Of course it probably helped that he was a demon, just a little bit.

"How is your mother Kagome?" Mr. Minamino asked, curious.

"Oh, she's just fine. She's thinking of expanding her business at The Flower Parlor." I answered. My mother owned a flower store called `The Flower Parlor'. Most people loved it for their unique arrangements and the flowers colors. The fact that Kurama helped, helped in more way than one. He lured girls and ladies to the shop while also using his skill with plants to grow the flowers even more beautiful.

"And your brother and Grandfather?"

"They're alright as well. Souta's excited about starting sixth grade while Grandpa is happy about all the people coming to the shrine lately."

"Well, that's good. You three have a good first day at school and Youko, no fighting. Kagome?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you going to stay for dinner tonight? We are having a pot roast."

"Yeah sure! You know I love Marie's pot roast!"

Marie is their cook. She's a middle aged woman, about 45, and makes Delicious food with a capital D.

Mr. Minamino laughed. "Alright then. I'll tell her to set an extra place."

"Thank you!" I said to him from my place at the island.

"Well it's time to head off." Kurama said while looking at his watch. "Good bye Father."

"Bye kids. Have a good day." He said while we were walking out the door.

"Bye." I hollered.

well how did you like the first chapter? I found out that it's much easier to right when you're in someone's POV. Hey I wanna ask you guys a question. Have any of you read a Yu Yu Hakisho fic that is an Alternative universe and it has Hiei, Kurama, and Yukina and Yuuske as normal humans until somebody get's their hands on Hiei, Kurama, and Yukina and does some kind of experiment on them and gives them all these powers and they keep them in these cells with all the other people they did this to. They escape and find Yuuske and he helps them run and he ends up doing something special but I can't remember what it is. I think he had like special powers or something in the end. But anywayz I've forgotten the name and I can't find it so I was wondering if any of you know?
