Chapter 1

`Me…My Past…Sadly'

She wept in the corner of her dark and dead room while repeating about how she is the forbidden child. She cried, "One day," She said. "One day they will pay." Kagome Higurashi is a 17 year old teenager who is abused by her family and is treated wildly, like a dog. She is quiet and cold. She doesn't ever talk, not even at school. She trusts no one and lives alone.

She cried herself to sleep after setting her alarm for 6:30. She didn't dream. She never dreamed unless it was Midoriko training her. She started training a few months ago, even though she had never even heard of this Midoriko.

****FLASHBACK****

Kagome was in a large clearing with different plant life and animals. It was quiet besides the sound of the animals chattering and the birds chirping. She sighed. A happy place She thought. Yes, a happy place for once. Only in my dreams though. She stopped listening to her thoughts when a middle aged woman stepped into the clearing with dark blue and white clothing. The woman spoke to Kagome. "Kagome, I am Midoriko. A Miko, you are one too. You are also a forbidden dragon/phoenix. Born an outcast, I am sorry to say this." Kagome growled low in her throat at the mention of her being even born.

"What have you entered my dreams for Midoriko? How do you know me?" Kagome sat down on a fallen tree and held her arms.

"I know you from fate's choice. It is my own choice to arrive in your dreams, when I want. I decided your 17th birthday would be a good time." Midoriko smiled and sat next to Kagome.

"What's a Miko?" Kagome became interested in this Midoriko. Also she decided to take in this beautiful place, she never sees anything beautiful.

"A Miko is a human, or in your case," Midoriko sighed. "I suppose this destiny has made it so you are more forbidden then I thought." Kagome growled and Midoriko ignored it. "A Miko is a priestess that protects other beings. But I have been summoned here to tell you that you are the `Chosen One' (that sounds so corny)." Kagome lifted her eyebrow in question.

"The chosen one?" Kagome looked at Mido in disbelief.

"Yes. You have the strength of Kami himself. You have the cunningness of a Kitsune youkai Xfold. You have the bravery of over a thousand warriors. And the beauty of all the angels and goddesses alike." Mido looked out to the sun and smiled again.

Kagome was close to tears but kept her emotionless mask on. "Me? I have nothing." Kagome's eyebrows furrowed. "Nothing but pain and angst!" Kagome cried and Mido comforted her. When she quieted she said in a normal voice. "What do I have to do?"

Mido's eyes shined at Kagome's amazing ability to take anything thrown at her. "One, a jewel called the Shikon No Tama lives in you, you must protect it. Second, I will appear during most of your sleeps in places like this one." Midoriko looked around the clearing they were at and closed her eyes. "Thirdly, you have the power to summon any dragon or phoenix." Kagome sighed.

"I think I can handle it." Kagome still didn't smile but gave a weak reassuring breath.

"Goodbye Kagome! Live strong!" Mido disappeared.

****END FLASHBACK****

::::BEEP::::BEEP::::BE- <SMACK!> Kagome had crawled from her spot on the floor and smacked her alarm clock to turn it off. She took a look at her room and sighed.

Her room was black everything. Black twin bed with black covers, black bare walls and a small black desk to the side with a black computer chair to go with it.

Kagome got up and picked out her clothes. Black baggy pants with a black tank top and black trench coat. She sighed AGAIN and walked to the bathroom to shower. She cleaned up got out and got dressed.

This was where her morning began. She held her breath and tried to walk down her creaky steps. Because she woke before her family she had to be sure not to wake them. She glided down them half way and a loud creak was heard. She suddenly heard footsteps coming down the halls, her mom.

Kagome prayed to Kami her mother wouldn't kill her or something much worse. Please no. Kagome paled when her mother came around the corner of the steps with a racket. Not again. Not the racket please! Kagome pleaded. Her mother crept closer to her and beat her silly with it.

Kagome used to scream but didn't need to, she has been through it so many times that she has learned to withstand it. Her mother noticed this and got a horrible idea. "Kagome, dear go on to school and don't be back too late." Kagome nodded and felt she was going to faint. Her mother just called her dear. Shit, her mom only calls her dear when she found out about a new game she wants to play. Kagome mentally screamed.

Not another thought. What could it be now? Please not `The Gas Room' or `Icky Medicine' !!! Kagome ran down the stairs to the bathroom there and cleaned up her cut on the eyebrow. When she was done she ran out the door.

****WITH YU YU GUMI****

"Alright toddler. What now?" Yusuke rolled his eyes as Koenma yelled to him about calling him a toddler.

Koenma sucked a little harder on his pacifier to relieve his stress. (AWWWE! The baby Koenma!) "Now like I was going to say, your next mission is to find a girl by the name Kagome Higurashi. She goes to Justice, Attendance, and Caring with Kindness with Super Students high. (J.A.C.K.A.S.S. hehehehe. It might not make sense to you but oh well. Long name fun initials.) A.K.A. JACKASS." Yusuke burst out laughing while the others smirked. Kuwabara was on vacation somewhere in America.

"JACKASS!!!" Yusuke was holding his stomach he was laughing so hard.

Koenma was mad. "YUSUKE!!! DARN IT!!" Koenma floated over to him and hit his head.

"Ow! TODDLER!!" Yusuke rubbed his head and gave Koenma glares as he finished talking.

"Like I was saying for the SECOND TIME! Kagome Higurashi is to be found and brought to me immediately! Now, to try out my new transporter." (I don't care if Koenma can really do this but oh well!)

Koenma flipped a wooden door on his desk and pressed the red button that appeared. He pushed it and the Yu Yu Gang disappeared to the ningenkai to find this Kagome person.

****WITH KOGOME****

She waited for the bus to come and listened to her Evanescence CD. She looked lowly at the ground and saw the bus stop for her. The first thing new she noticed was 3 new guys on the bus. Okay Kagome sat in the seat next to the one with slicked back hair but not in a sick way. He had on green attire and had high spirit energy.

She sighed again. (she sighs a lot)

He smiled at her and introduced himself. "Hey! I'm Yusuke!"

"Hn. Kagome." She said it so quietly that he almost didn't hear her.

"You don't look to good. Is anything wrong?" Yusuke then noticed Hiei was talking to him.

-Yusuke, she is an abused child. Forbidden. She has recently been hit by her `mother'. Hiei said.

= Poor girl. Should I talk to her?=

-No. What did she say her name was?-

=Kagome. Wait, Kagome!= Yusuke broke out of the telepathic conversation when the bus stopped for them to get off.

****KURAMA POV****

She seems so lost and sad. Kurama had received info not a second later that this was the Kagome they were looking for. She is so beautiful, why must she be the one to be abused and forbidden?

<Hiei, are you sure this is the girl?>

-Hn, yes. Do not trust me fox?- Hiei got up with the others as did Kurama when the bus stopped.

****HIEI POV****

A forbidden child as I. She is abused daily though, I feel pity on this girl. Why? She is so perfect. I do not know why I am having feelings for such a woman. It is nothing, hormones that is what it is. But Hiei knew better. They all got off the bus.
