There were some questions about the jewel, I will explain now. As stated in chapter 5, the jewel didn't disappear, just went back into Kagome's body, and is still active. I will explain more, later in this chapter.

Last time…

Angoli nodded softly before tilting her head up and closing her eyes, sniffing the air. "Lets hurry." She said before running quickly after Hiei, everyone else following quickly.

Angoli sighed heavily when she reached the village, heading towards Hiei and Kagome's scent, just inside Kaede's hut. She stepped inside quickly and laid the monk down carefully, her eyes going towards Kagome.

Hiei glared at Angoli a moment before he crossed his arms from his place next to Kagome on the futon. "She is bandaged, and her injuries are healing rapidly. I want to talk to you about what happened back there…" he said gruffly.

Angoli nodded and took a deep breath as Kaede watched her knowingly. Hiei couldn't see the purple miko energy rolling off him and into Kagome, causing her injuries to heal rapidly. She scratched the back of her head before taking a seat against the wall. "Uhh… I will start from the beginning. The Sacred jewel is not gone, like everyone thinks. When things didn't work out with Kikyo, and the jewel was burned with her, the rules changed. The Jewel instead waited a couple hundred years, for the birth of a child that would be pure in heart and soul. Kagome isn't just the guardian of the jewel, in truth, she is the Jewel…" She explained, looking down at the unconscious woman.

"The Jewel was in her body, lying dormant until the magic of Mistress Centipede and the magic of the well unlocked its power, and Kagome's. See, the Jewel itself is just a shell of that power, not the whole thing. When the jewel entered Kagome's body this last and final time, it melted into her and she became the jewel. The only explanation as to why we don't really sense it is that Kagome energy or Ki was similar to the Jewel itself, power-wise." Angoli said softly, her eyes closing.

Hiei blinked a few times, taking it all in before nodding slowly. "And what of the dragon?" he asked, looking down at the bandage covering the dragon on Kagome's arm. Angoli smiles softly before nodding. "Kagome is not healing herself, as you know, the use of the dragon drains all your energy… it is you, Hiei, who is healing her. When you two became mates, and your auras and scent mixed, your energies did too. You have some Miko abilities, and she has yours. I knew it would happen this way, but the fates and Kami's failed to tell me exactly why, just that it is to ensure the both of you are protected."

Angoli opened her eyes and looked at Hiei, her face serious. "If anyone were to capture Kagome, and she wasn't able to escape, they could use her and her powers to do some very serious damage. Even though she is the jewel, you cannot wish on it again, and neither can she, but the ultimate power is still there…" she sighed lightly and stood. "I will go find out where Shippou and Korari were during the battle, and make sure everyone else is alright. Get some rest, she will be fine in no time..." Hiei just nodded, his eyes moving to the goddess lying next to him, a soft expression crossing his face as he moved her bangs out of her eyes.

Kagome moaned softly and opened her eyes slowly, blinking back the film over her eyes. She felt sore, her muscles aching and her head throbbing. She looked off to her left, catching sight of Hiei's crimson eyes, which were directed at her. His face was set in a deep scowl, but his eyes shined with worry. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly, his voice just above a whisper.

Kagome smiles softly and closed her eyes a moment before trying to sit up. Hiei was instantly at her side, helping her. She got a better look at him now that he was closer, and she noticed the dark circles under his bloodshot eyes. "I…" she cleared her scratchy throat. "I'm okay… just sore. How long have I been sleeping?" she asked.

Hiei took a deep breath, gathering Kagome in his arms and holding her close, but gently. "Almost two days. Your injuries healed not long after we brought you here." He murmured into her hair, his eyes closing. "We must talk about this…" He mumbled, kissing her temple before moving to look into her eyes.

Kagome gave him a puzzled look before nodding. "I… All I really remember is my arm burning and my back hurting…" she said softly. Hiei nodded slightly before telling her everything Angoli told him, watching, as her eyes got bigger. "I…wow…" she mumbled, sitting back and letting it all sink in. Her motherly instincts kicking in. "Where was Shippou and Korari during the battle?"

A fleeting smile came to Hiei's face as he slipped behind Kagome, laying her between his legs as he wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled his mark. "Hn… Shippou decided to travel some on his own; to test out his newfound power. Korari went with him, and Kirara is in the village as we speak." Kagome nodded lightly, her eyes closing and her head dropping to Hiei's shoulder as he licked and nuzzled the mark, making her shiver in pleasure, a small broken moan escaping her lips.

Hiei smirked lightly into her neck as he slowly brought one hand up near her head to brace himself as he pulled the covers from her body. He slowly lowered himself back down, a sharp pleasure filled hiss coming from his lips when his naked chest met with her warm and equally unclothed body.

Kagome moaned softly, her eyes fluttering shut at the electrifying sensations as Hiei settled over her, his knees coaxing her legs apart before she settled between her thighs. She opened her eyes slowly, gazing up at Hiei lovingly as she brought both hands up to run her fingers through his hair at the back of his neck, enjoying the feel of him.

Hiei nuzzled her neck lightly, his hands moving under her shoulder blades as he braced himself up on his elbows so he could look her in the eyes, his face inches from her own. "Kagome… I…" he closed his eyes, his usually emotionless face showing a shocking amount of love and fright, his body shaking lightly at the thought of almost loosing her, just when they began. "I was so afraid… I haven't felt anything like this since Yukina was captured… I thought I might loose you, and I was terrified." He spoke softly, his voice shaking some as he poured his heart out to her, feeling a bit vulnerable at not being used to such feelings and emotions, nor sharing them.

Tears formed in Kagome's eyes as she looked up at the demon on top of her. She leaned forward quickly, wrapping her arms around this waist and holding him to her tightly, her head buried in his neck. "Oh Hiei… I don't know how this happened, and so quickly…" she pulled away enough to look into his eyes, her own shining with her tears and emotions. "… I love you."

Hiei gasped lightly at the intensity of her gaze, her eyes filled with the emotions she spoke of, his own softening as he bent, his lips a hairsbreadth away. "I love you as well… my mate." Came the whisper from his lips, his voice rough with emotion. He bent his head down; his lips pressing against hers in a gentle, yet passionate kiss.

Hiei pulled back, already feeling melancholy at the loss of her soft lips, but knew she needed more rest. Even though physically, she was healed, she needed to regain her inner strength, her Ki. He rolled over slowly, pulling her along to lay on him before pulling the covers over her back, his hands moving to her waist and back as he breathed in her unique scent in pleasure. "Sleep, my mate… you need to regain your strength." He murmured lightly, his own eyes slipping closed as he rubbed her back gently.

Kagome smiled softly, her head resting against Hiei's chest as she closed her eyes, her hands moving to his side and chest as she drifted off quickly. "Mmm… my love."

Both beings were scared, yet thrilled at the newfound love and emotions they were experiencing, one not fully understanding how he, a lowly forbidden child could deserve the heart of one so precious, pure, kind and loving; while the other wondered how she could be so lucky, to find someone so special after a such a short time from loosing her first love. They both knew though, that as long as they were in each other's arms, they would be happy, and survive as one…

A silly smile came to Angoli's lips when she heard Hiei's heart-felt admission, her head tilting back slightly as she leaned against the hut. She was seconds from walking into the hut when she heard Kagome waken, but stopped when they began to speak and waited. Knowing all was well inside, she walked away to give them privacy, her tail twitching and showing her inner happiness, as did the bounce in her step.

She ambled over towards the spot Sango, Miroku and Kurama were sitting near the fire pit, plopping down next to the fox, her arm brushing against his. She smirked lightly at his quick intake of breath, and slight blush on his cheeks before she spoke. "Kagome awoke for a bit, and seems okay… I don't think we will ever get Hiei out of that hut, unless we drag him out…" she giggled lightly, looking towards the hut a moment before casting a glance towards the two humans. "How are you two holding up? Did you confirm your suspicions Sango? And your head injury Miroku?"

Sango nodded softly, bringing a hand to her stomach and blushing a light red. "Aye, I was correct in my guess… I guess I better take it easy for a bit, huh…" looking over at Miroku and smiling happily, her love for the grope-happy hentai evident in her expression.

A goofy smile came to Miroku's lips as he gazed at Sango, a long happy sigh coming from his lips as he gazed upon the women he loved and admired. He blinked, his face growing serious. "Indeed… I would strongly suggest you put your weapons away until our child is born, my lovely jewel…" He slid closer to Sango, a slight smile coming to his face and his eyes softening some. "I have nothing but you, my dear… and would be lost without you…" the words were soft, yet serious. He turned towards Angoli, his playful nature returning. "The bump was nothing… I am used to such treatment on my skull…" he looked at Sango, winking playfully.

Sango blushed deeply at the nickname, leaning forward to give Miroku a lingering kiss before resting her head against his shoulder. "Your right… but I will continue to protect the village… they are like family to me…" her gaze moved to her brother, who was off playing ball with other children his age, his happy laughter reaching her ears and warming her heart. "I will not allow anyone to hurt my family again…"

Angoli smiled brightly, and stood quickly, taking Kurama's hand and pulling him up with her without resistance. "Come on, fox… walk with me." She smirked lightly at his blush and nod before walking towards the forest. She passed between Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, the latter growling angrily and holding onto his drawn sword tightly whiles Sesshomaru looked at him, his face a mask of boredom.

Angoli rolled her eyes slightly and smiled at Kikyo, who looked flustered and upset at Inuyasha, the sounds of her berating the hanyou following Kurama and Angoli as they walked away and into the dense woods.

Kurama looked down at Angoli's hand, which was holding his firmly, his thoughts racing.

% This keeps up, you'll walk around with that blush forever… relax. % Came the voice of the kitsune in his head, making him roll his eyes slightly.

"Easy for you to say…" he grumbled lightly in response.

Angoli turned her head, stopping in her tracks. "What?" she smirked lightly at Kurama as he smiled slightly, his cheeks turning the color of Inuyasha's haori before he mumbled a light "Nothing…" she let go of his hand, turning fully and stepping closer, one brow raising. "Hmm… you and the other half disagreeing again?" she teased, one hand moving to his chest, the muscles under his shirt flexing at the light touch in response.

Kurama swallowed heavily, his eyes widening some as he bit his lip, holding back the groan as she touched him, Youko making himself known by sending erotic images of Angoli and himself in some very interesting positions. "As always…" he managed to say, proud of himself for only allowing a slight tremor to show his reaction, though his voice was a bit husky.

Angoli laughed lightly, pulling her hand away and moving off to a nice spot on the ground and laying down, her hands folding under her head as she gazed up at the clouds. "Relax, fox… I won't jump you. If I were interested in getting into a relationship, it wouldn't just be for the sex, and I would have to get to know you better before we got into a sexual relationship…" she close her eyes a moment. "I am not really demon, I can't look at one person and know instantly that the person in front of me was my mate…" she opens one eye, smirking lightly. "Though even then, you could be wrong…" she said with a laugh, thinking of Kouga.

Kurama smiled, his respect growing for the woman at her words. He moved next to her, sitting down facing her at her side. "I agree… one cannot be too careful in the matters of the heart…" he said softly, his head tilting to the side. "I.. I would like to get to know you better and try though…" he looks smiles lightly, his eyes flashing from gold to green. "I have never met anyone like you… at least, any female who caught both Youko's and my attention, which makes me want to pursue a serious and hopefully permanent relationship with you even more…"

Angoli blushed slightly, her smile widening as she nodded. "Sounds wonderful to me…" she sits up some, her head tilting to the side slightly as she looks Kurama over in appreciation. "Mmm… We will figure it out once we get back to your time… until then, let us just relax, and enjoy each other's company."

Kurama smiled softly and nodded before closing his eyes. He wasn't sure where his heart would take him, but he knew that being with Angoli for any amount of time would be fun and an adventure.

I know, I know… It is short, but I really needed to make this filler chapter, which is why it took so long to write. Tomorrow The gang will return to the future!
