Chapter 5: Warm Mornings
Kurama woke up feeling strangely warm. `Where am I?' he thought to himself groggily. He shifted, and frowned when his legs seemed to be wrapped up in something… To his shock, he realized that someone had their arms around him, and their legs mingled with his. Taking a deep calming breath, Kurama glanced behind him, and beheld an enchanting sight. Sesshoumaru was holding him, and his peaceful face struck a note in Kurama. He watched as the dog demon's eyes opened slowly, revealing molten gold.
Sesshoumaru woke when the redhead in his arms stirred. Waiting patiently for the boy to come to his senses, Sesshoumaru relished in the friction between their bodies. Slowly opening his eyes, he caught Kurama looking at him with a stunned expression. Leaning forward, he buried his nose in rose scented red hair.
Kurama was confused. `Where am I again?' Thinking to himself, he recounted his memories. `First I was transported to this weird world… and I became a sex slave. I was bought by Sesshoumaru to be a gladiator…' His eyes widened as the battle flashed before his eyes, and he remembered what had happened. `I'm Sesshoumaru's general, now…'
"Good morning," Sesshoumaru purred sensually into Kurama's ear, eliciting a shiver from the redhead.
Kurama swallowed nervously and murmured, "Morning." He gasped when Sesshoumaru nibbled on his right earlobe, and began to squirm in pleasure.
Sesshoumaru growled lowly when Kurama moved, causing more delightful friction between their bodies. His manhood pulsed, and his growl became louder.
Kurama froze when he heard a throaty growl. Did he do something bad? His question was answered when Sesshoumaru flipped him onto his back and straddled him. He stared up at Sesshoumaru with wide eyes, not knowing what to expect from the seemingly `angry' dog demon. His eyes widened further when he felt Sesshoumaru's erect member on his stomach. Looking down, he saw the lord in all his glory. He couldn't help but stare, and soon Sesshoumaru realized what had caught his attention.
Smirking down on the redhead, Sesshoumaru leaned forward to claim his sweet cavern. He relished in the delicious taste of what was now his. His tongue darted out, tasting every last corner of the redhead's mouth. `Delicious…'
A gasp was drowned when Sesshoumaru attacked him with his deadly tongue and lips, and Kurama surrendered to the lord. Becoming more daring as his Youko side strived for release, Kurama began to taste the demon lord. Eyes heavy with the spicy taste that was Sesshoumaru, Kurama flipped them over with his youko skill.
Sesshoumaru was surprised when Kurama flipped them over, not knowing what to expect from the dazed redhead. His eyes widened when Kurama attacked his mouth with a skill that surpassed his own, plundering his mouth like a pirate would a cave full of treasure. Not wanting to be the submissive one in their relationship, Sesshoumaru flipped again, and trapped a squirming Kurama beneath him.
Kurama felt like growling at the lord, but caught himself in time. Suppressing his youko instinct, Kurama surrendered to Sesshoumaru.
"Excuse me, Milord!" A voice shouted through the door.
Growling softly, Sesshoumaru asked icily, "Yes?"
"The other lords will be leaving today! They wish for you and your new general see them off!"
"Is that all?"
"Yes, Milord!"
"Dismissed."
Sesshoumaru turned back to Kurama, who was staring up at him with foggy eyes. Sighing softly, Sesshoumaru leaned down and whispered into Kurama's ear, "We must see the lords off. I will find you something to wear."
Kurama watched as Sesshoumaru left the bed, his eyes traveling along the toned muscles that rippled beneath moonlight kissed skin. Eyes half lidded, Kurama watched the beautiful demon dress in his usual white haori (is that what its called?) with a flower pattern printed upon the left shoulder.
Sesshoumaru pushed aside his wardrobe of white to reveal another set of clothing in the back of the large `closet'. Reaching in, he pulled out a pure black outfit with a red star pattern on it in the place of flowers. Taking it off its hanger, he tossed it absently to Kurama, who caught it and stared in wonder at the silk that slipped softly across his fingers.
Pulling himself out of bed, Kurama began to get dressed, starting with the `yukata'. Once they were on, he pulled on the `haori' and had trouble tying it with the blood-red sash. His heart sped up in surprise when he felt Sesshoumaru behind him, holding the sash in his clawed hands. Tying the sash around Kurama's slim waist, Sesshoumaru turned Kurama around to get a better look at the redhead. His eyes widened slightly when he saw the final outcome. The black brought out his hair, and made him look sexier than ever. Smirking, Sesshoumaru bent down to kiss Kurama senseless.
Kurama gasped when Sesshoumaru's lips touched his own, unintentionally allowing Sesshoumaru access to his sweet cavern. The kiss was long lasting, hot with passion and lust. It left both bewildered when they broke apart and stared at eachother, eyes half lidded in passion.
Straightening, Sesshoumaru reluctantly walked towards his door, turning to signal Kurama to follow. The redhead did so, and together they made their way to the front gate.
Upon their arrival, the other lords nodded at eachother and turned to face Sesshoumaru, who nodded to them and watched as one by one they vanished with their ways of transportation. Kurama stood off to the side, wondering why they had to get out of bed for such a short `good-bye', if that's what you'd call it. He sure as hell wouldn't have.
Sesshoumaru turned to Kurama and eyed the redhead with golden eyes. Walking away, he waited for Kurama no notice. To his surprise, the boy was quick to come out of his thoughts and was follow. Sesshoumaru led them to his library, and decided to begin the tactical training of his new general.
"You will study battle tactics and more in this library every morning, and will work diligently to make up for you incapability to fight in combat. I will test you every evening before dinner." With that said, the lord left a blinking Kurama at the door of the library to attend to some issues he had yet to deal with, concerning his land.
`Well, I guess I'm on my own. Not that I need much help in strategy… but it wouldn't hurt. After all, I'm used to infiltration, not full out battle. This will be good for future use, when I return home…' The word `when' echoed in his head, and he wondered if he would ever return home. Sighing softly, he entered the library and searched for the first book that caught his eye.
He went over many strategies during the remainder of the day, fascinated by how complicated a properly waged war really was. Intrigued, he absorbed every detail of every descriptive record of a war he could get his hands on, learning from previous generals' and lords' mistakes. By the time Sesshoumaru had come back, Kurama had read through 24 books and remembered every bit of them in incredible detail.
Shocked, Sesshoumaru stared at the pile of books that surrounded Kurama, whose nose was buried in another book that he was flipping through rather quickly, his eyes flying across the page. As if just realizing the lord's presence, Kurama looked up from the book he was obviously interested in to eye Sesshoumaru.
"It is time to test your knowledge, and your improvisation skills."
Kurama merely nodded and placed the book down on the chair he was sitting at. Walking forward, he stationed himself at the desk, where a quill, ink, and parchment were set out neatly for mapping.
Sesshoumaru eyed the desk for a moment before walking forward and kneeling, facing Kurama. (This is a short Japanese'ish desk where you kneel behind it on a cushion, there's no chair.) He pulled the parchment, quill and ink toward him and quickly drew map of a war. Strange symbols described terrain and squads of men, etc.
Sesshoumaru defined each symbol and its meaning to Kurama before placing the sheet in front of him and demanding, "What would be the best tactic to use in such a situation?"
Kurama looked down on the map. From the looks of it, it was a simple war on a field. But things were never simple. Eyeing it with a calculating look, Kurama did quick inventory on the amount of demons that were the enemy, and those that were allies. The armies were small, holding approx. 30 demons each. Kurama noted that there were 18 foot-soldiers and 10 archers. The enemy had 15 archers and 15 foot-soldiers. `Wait,' he thought to himself, `Sesshoumaru wouldn't make it this easy… where might those archers BE, after all, their army borders on the forest's edge…' "Well," he began after a while, "I would first move my soldiers back to the tree line and hide my archers amongst the trees. It would be foolish to be standing in the middle of the field completely unprotected. Then again, what if I had the enemy at my back as well? That would not be pleasant. If so, this arrangement was foolish in the first place, because the area has not been fortified whatsoever and no scouts placed in the area." He finished with a frown, glaring down piece of parchment. "Altogether, the arrangement of soldiers is absurd."
Sesshoumaru stared at him with calm eyes, though on the inside he was shocked that Kurama had picked up so many little details. From the looks of it, he would have picked up more if the map were more detailed on the placement of soldiers, etc. `He is very… perceptive… that is a good quality for my new general. Now, since he needs no advice on tactics that I am aware of, except practice with different situations, he needs to learn about the capabilities of demons and their species weaknesses.' With that thought, he got into a detailed lecture on how to properly stage a war, considering supplies, etc. It was late into the night when Sesshoumaru finally realized the time, and sent a servant to bring supper to his rooms.
Kurama's mind was buzzing. Information was quickly stored inside his mind, and he missed no little detail. He noted during the lecture, when Sesshoumaru had eyed him, that the lord was shocked at his look of intelligence.
As they walked to Sesshoumaru's room, the Lord of the Western Lands thought to himself, `Kurama is an amazing creature. He can't be human… He is too intelligent to be of that disgusting species. But what else could he be? The possibilities are narrowed down to either a very smart human, or a demon in disguise. He could not be a demon, for this Sesshoumaru would have sensed his youki.' When he quickly glanced back at Kurama, the thought, `He truly is amazing,' was the first thing to come to mind.
Kurama was grateful when they reached Sesshoumaru's rooms, for he was finally allowed to eat. He ate carefully, enjoying every bit of it, and basically ignored Sesshoumaru throughout the whole meal.
"Kurama," Sesshoumaru began, catching the redhead's attention, "Have you ever been in battles of any sort, or perhaps watched someone else wage a war?"
Kurama, knowing that lying would not be wise, answered truthfully, "I have watched battles before, yes." His skills as a thief prevented Sesshoumaru from knowing that he had withheld information.
Inclining his head slightly in acceptance, Sesshoumaru placed his empty bowl of rice upon the small table/desk and waited politely for Kurama to finish. The redhead did, not wanting to keep the lord waiting, and placed his bowl upon the table/desk as well. He stood from his kneeling position right after Sesshoumaru, and watched the lord expectantly.
"Prepare for bed," Sesshoumaru began with no expression whatsoever upon his beautiful face, "You have a long day of practice tomorrow."
Nodding his head once, Kurama stripped off his haori and yukata, folding them afterward. He walked, nude, across the room to the bed, ignoring Sesshoumaru's hypnotized gaze and slipping under the covers. He lied down on his side, facing away from where Sesshoumaru would sleep. Closing his eyes, Kurama began to slowly fall asleep, and ignored Sesshoumaru as he got in beside him. Feeling arms around his waist, Kurama allowed Sesshoumaru to pull him into the curve of the taller youkai's body.
"Good night, Sesshoumaru," Kurama whispered softly.
It took him a while, but Sesshoumaru finally responded, "Good night, my Kurama," in a husky tone.
Kurama, however, was already asleep, and did not hear the possessive `my'…
