Disclaimer: Did I ever I say I own Inuyasha and Youko, huh, huh? So you can't sue me -evil laugh-.

AN: Sesshoumaru will most likely be a little OOC around Youko, because he trusts him so he would show his true side to Youko.

Long Lost Brothers Ch 2: Revealing of the Past

The next morning, Sesshoumaru found himself at his front gate telling Jaken to take good care of Rin while he was away or he will be dissected into a million pieces and given to Ah-Un for food. The threat had done its job well, since the ugly toad instantly gave his word that the eight year old girl will not be harmed in any way possible. Sesshoumaru nodded his head in approval, and then turned to the direction of Kaede's village with Youko at his side.

Silver substance formed under the two brothers's feet and slowly materialized into a cloud, which lifted the two demons a hundred feet in the air.

Youko suddenly chuckled softly, which, in turn, became a beautiful crisp laugh.

"May I ask what amuses you, brother," mocked Sesshoumaru in an unusual tone of voice.

"I am laughing at your threat to your bizarre retainer. I did not think it is necessary for him, since he is already half afraid of you."

"I am only playing it safe. For some reason I do not wish Rin to be harmed in any way, and I have been wanting to ask what you need the Shikon Jewel for once it is complete."

Yoko gave a sad smile then put his right hand over his cheek, "It seems that nothing can escape you anymore, Sesshou, I want the jewel so I can bring Jynsu back to life. She became my mate about a hundred years after my departure from father, and died just recently."

Sesshoumaru said nothing more, but his mind was working at a fast pace. So he mated. My brother who never liked women mated. Heh, guess it should not be a surprise. I wonder how he would react if I told him mother died. I will tell him later. Right now will not be a good time. I do not want to see him sad anyway.

He then nodded his head in approval as the two youkais stayed silent for the rest of the way to Inuyasha; watching the scenic view as they pass by in a break neck speed.

They finally arrived by the Goshikobu Tree [spelling anyone?] during mid day, and found that an intoxicating scent followed by a scent of a hanyou was nearby. The two quickly determined that the hanyou aroma was Inuyasha's, but was puzzled over the exotic smell. They thought that the foreign scent could be the miko's that accompany their younger brother, but soon discarded the idea because not one human, even miko, would have a natural fragrance of roses, spice, and magic intertwined together without a tinge of sweat.

The two demons stepped off the cloud like material only to find a blur of red racing towards Sesshoumaru. He stepped aside leaving the red blur to skid to a stop.

It turned around and faced the Western Lord, "What the hell are you doing here, Sesshoumaru?" it yelled.

Sesshoumaru gave a smirk and said calmly, "To speak with you, brother."

Inuyasha slipped into battle stance with his hand on Tetsusaiga, "What for, and who is that fox guy next to you?" asked the hanyou gruffly.

The taiyoukai tilted his head in a downward position than answered, "Hn, Inuyasha, straight forward as ever, we are here to join your crew on the shard hunt. As for the so called `fox guy', he is Youko Kurama, King of Thieves."

Inuyasha growled when he heard that his half brother wanted to join the shard hunt, "I don't know why you're so interested in the jewel all of a sudden, but there's no way in hell that you're gonna help me, Sesshoumaru!" sneered the arrogant hanyou.

"Yes, there is, you need help in defeating Naraku, you, yourself, know it. You are fortunate that we will assist you, so you shut your mouth and accept the fact that we are joining your group," reasoned Youko who, while the two half brothers were unconsciously quarreling, strode over to lean on the god tree, admiring the variety of plants around it.

Inuyasha growled even more loudly and gripped the fang sword like it was his life line and aimed a hit towards Youko's heart. Youko dodged the attack, and kept fending off the blows that followed.

In between, the young half demon shouted, "Who are you to tell me what to do, King of Thieves? You're not related to me or anything."

At the last phrase, Youko was stunned and hit the back of Inuyasha's neck by accident, causing him to faint. Just as his younger step brother hit the grass filled ground, voices were heard calling for Inuyasha from the direction of the village. Both taiyoukais disappeared into a tree near the Bone Eater's Well, and masked their odor to confirm who the intruders are without being noticed.

It turned out to be Inuyasha's companions: the Taijiya, the monk, the kitsune, and the miko. Both youkai were surprised to find that their earlier hypothesis were correct. The exotic scent really was Inuyasha's wench, but the startled feeling was quickly ignored as they sensed an average demon heading towards the village. The demon would be nothing towards Sesshoumaru and Youko, but would be enough for Inuyasha. Both thought that the assault of the demon would be a perfect opportunity to prove that Inuyasha needed them.

The two step brothers decided mentally that they will stay where they are until needed, not wanting to show up during the wrong time and ruin their chances of saving Jynsu.

Moment's later, flashes of when Youko and Sesshoumaru first met, entered Youko's mind, causing him to enter a trance like state, blocking out everything around him.

A pair of kitsune is seen walking towards the castle that belonged to the Lord of the West.

"Mother, why are we here at this stunningly well-kept castle," inquired the one-hundred year old Youko to a beautiful yet fragile looking female kitsune. She retains smooth, silky silver hair down to her waist, platinum colored fox ears resting atop her head gently, and grey yellow eyes adorned her V shaped face.

She stopped her strode and turned to look at her son. Her eyes strained to meet his from her five seven height, "Because I found a new mate, a new father to you. I could not take the loneliness after your true father had died. Do not worry, my son, he will be a good father, he, too, has a son, his wife has passed away so you do not need to fret over me sharing a mate," she answered in a velvety smooth voice.

The young youkai nodded in understanding. Though he is old compared to humans, he is considered to be a young child in the demon world. He has not experienced much yet, but is getting wiser and wiser as days pass by. Soon mother and son arrived at the front gate with Inutaisho to greet them with baby Sesshoumaru in his arms.

Both widow and widower smiled warmly at each other before entering the manor. The Western Lord led his soon to be mate and son to a room adjacent to his then asked if Youko would watch over baby Sesshoumaru in the gardens while he and his mother talked over some things.

Youko agreed then took the baby into his strong arms, instantly taking a liking to his future step brother. It seemed to be the same the other way around too, since Sesshoumaru refused to be put down on the grass. Crying and grabbing tightly onto his aniki's toga each time he felt he was being put down.

Youko decided to probe the young demons mind after the fifth time trying to put him down, finding nothing but joy. He tried to speak to Sesshoumaru mentally and was surprised to find that his voice had gotten through. He heard infant giggles through the newly established mind link and enjoyed them.

Youko returned from his reverie when Sesshoumaru asked him about something.

"Have you forgotten that Inuyasha does not know that you are his older step brother?" asked Sesshoumaru mentally, face never leaving the god tree.

"Yes," replied Youko quietly.

"Are you planning to tell him soon?"

"No, I want to get to know him first before I do anything else."

Sesshoumaru said nothing more after his inquiries, instead, he concentrated on the demon that Inuyasha is bound to fight. Youko did the same and sensed that it will arrive in less than five minutes. He gave Sesshoumaru a look that told him to prepare to attack at the right time. The two slid into a crouch like battle stance on their tree branch perch. Like a tiger getting ready for its kill.

As if on cue, the sensed demon, which turned out to be a dragon, rage passes the taiyoukais, knocking down trees and other living things, roaring as it went. Its scaly black wings folded against its snake like body to avoid creating holes in the delicate flying utensil. The dragon's red eyes flashed with anger as its sharp tough claws and long horns located at each temple knocked down trees to clear a path.

By the time the two hectometer long youkai reached the outskirts of the village, Inuyasha, followed by the rest of his companions, was already at the clearing waiting for him. The dragon wasted no time, and launched towards the hanyou greeting him with an energy blast through the mouth. Inuyasha dodged the blow and parried the attacks that followed, occasionally slipping in some besets of his own, while Kagome shot purification arrows at the youkai, which only served to damage a bit of the dragon's armor. Sango's Hiraikotsu just glided off the demon's scale effortlessly, seemingly not hurting it at all. Both Miroku and Shippou did nothing else besides guarding Kagome with their life to ensure her safety.

All the while, Sesshoumaru and Youko were waiting for an opportunity to aide their younger brother. The time came; Sesshoumaru detached himself from the tree branch and moved with lightning speed giving the dragon a taste of his poison claws right in its left eye then landed under the tree Youko was in. The demon cried in pain as it tossed and twisted in hopes of ridding itself from the Western Lord's strong poison.

Inuyasha took advantage of his enemy's inconvenience and used the Backlash Wave. The Wind Scar intertwined with the dragon youkai's youki, and formed a tornado of energy; enveloping it in a blue light. A while later, the glow dissipated and the dragon dropped dead on the grassy plane with a loud thud.

Youko jumped off his resting spot next to Sesshoumaru. They then walked over to Inuyasha.

"Now do you accept the fact that you need us on your side?" questioned Youko lightly.

Inuyasha shielded Tetsusaiga then walked to stand in front of Kagome protectively, who had moved towards the Bone Eater's Well during the battle along with everyone else.

The stubborn half demon then turned around to face his two brothers, "Keh, I don't need help from anybody, much less, you two," barked Inuyasha.

"You think too highly of yourself. If it weren't for me you would have lost the battle, and died a pitiful death under the dragon's claws," added Sesshoumaru.

"What do you care? I still don't want you teaming with me," replied the headstrong hanyou.

Then Miroku interrupted the conversation, "Inuyasha, it would be wise to accept their alliance. It is true that we need help. In addition, we do not want or need them as our enemy."

Inuyasha thought the situation through then agreed reluctantly.

Sesshoumaru smiled victoriously then said to Inuyasha's crew, "Then all of you would be under my protection during the duration of our pact, and would be housed in my castle." He then handed the five of them a rectangular metal tag with the crescent moon carved in the middle of one side, and Sesshoumaru's name in Kanji engraved on the opposite side. "That is a symbol that shows that all of you are with me so no one would be accidentally attacked by some anonymous assailant."

He then walked over to the dead dragon and used his poison claws. The body disintegrated into thin air without a trace that notified it was once there. With that over with, the demon lord signaled for everyone to follow him.

The same silvery material formed and lifted Sesshoumaru and Youko into the air as Sango, Miroku, Kagome, and Shippou mounted Kirara while Inuyasha traveled by feet. By the time the shard hunting group arrived at the Western Manor, it was well into the night. Inuyasha and Youko were led to a room in the family side of the castle as the rest were taken to the guest side. A servant was assigned to tend to each one of the guests and to show them where all the necessities are located.

After Youko made sure that everyone was asleep, he escaped from his room and into Sesshoumaru's office, where his scent was the strongest.

When he was five feet from the shoji door that was blocking him from his brother, Sesshoumaru asked, "Is there anything you need, Aniki?"

Youko smiled knowingly, then entered the room, "Yes, there is. I would like to know where mother is. When I left this place, I remember mother still being here, but when I returned yesterday she was no where to be found. Where is she?" pressed Youko.

As Sesshoumaru put his hands to his face, Youko sat down on one of the cushioned seats. Then Sesshoumaru answered, face suddenly haggard looking, "I knew you would ask," he sighed then continued, "She died shortly after father was killed by Ryukotssuei. She was too saddened and careworn by the fact that she couldn't take it anymore and performed suicide."

Youko soughed, "I thought as much. After I heard that father was killed I knew she would follow him. She is a person who does not like loneliness. Well, now that I have my answer I shall return to my room, and you, you, better go to sleep soon or I will be seeing a brother with black circles around his eyes."

With that the fox taiyoukai returned to his elegantly decorated room secretly grieving over his mother.

Good, Aniki is not affected by mother's death as much as I thought he would be.

AN: Please forgive me for my really bad descriptions of Youko's mom and the battle scene [I suck at describing]. I deeply apologize for it. Also, review or e-mail me to tell me if I'm going too fast. If I am, I will try to slow down a bit. I also know that the Backlash Wave do not work the way I described it, but hey, this is a fic so I can have it whatever way I want. Anyway, R and R.
