Looking To The Sky

Chapter Four: Held Him For All Of Time

"Okay, shhh…I'm going to get some clothes and money," Fox said as she tiptoed up to her bedroom. She felt the familiar rush of adrenaline as did Yusuke and Kagome downstairs. The door creaked as she opened it and she winced at the dreaded sound. She walked to the closet and slid it open. She started taking out her favorite clothes. Then she went under her bed and reached under her pillow. She brought out a gold key. She opened up a loose floorboard near her window and pulled out a box. She opened it and took out about 500 or more dollars. She replaced everything and went back to her closet where she pulled out a backpack. She stuffed in her clothes and money and went back downstairs.

Yusuke stuffed in the gauze and peroxide, as Kagome stared at her, mouth slightly open. A BIG, YELLOW bag. Kagome felt the tears. "F-Fox? Can I hold the bag please?" she asked her. Fox was WAY taken aback but nodded, seeing the unshed tears in her eyes. And they walked out of the house, never looking back once. And they trudged on quietly. The sun was just rising as they reached the edge of town and it captured the mountains far off in a pink/orange/red light. And Kagome had a heartbreaking thought. `This looks like back in the Feudel Era. Back when I couldn't sleep at night. Back before Koga healed my heart.' And a few tears fell, and both Fox and Yusuke saw. He grabbed her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. And Fox draped her arm over Kagome's shoulder. And that's how they walked into the sunrise, leaving all their pasts behind.

~~~ A blur flashed thru the town. He stopped at a blue house and jumped up to one of the windows. "Kuso!" he cursed as he saw they were no longer there. `This is irking!' he thought. He jumped back down and sniffed the air. `Good! They're still close!' He started off in that direction. ~~~

"Yusuke? Can we please stop? I need to rest my legs," Kagome asked.

"Sure. Look, there's an ice-cream shop over there," he said, still holding her hand. Kagome stumbled a bit and Fox caught her. Yusuke wrapped one arm around her waist, while he used his other hand to wrap grape her arm around her shoulder. Fox led the way to the shop and held open the door. Yusuke sat her down and went to get the shakes with Fox. Kagome sighed and put her feet up. She soon fell asleep.

~~~Kagome's Dream~~~

Kagome was again surrounded by darkness. She felt Inuyasha's rosary pulse around her neck. Then it felt as though she jumped in freezing water. She looked up, prepared for the worst, and wasn't far off. Sango was bleeding and unmoving on the ground. Miroku was slowly making his way over to her, leaving behind a trail of blood. Shippo had a broken leg and arm and was limping behind a bush.

And Inuyasha…Oh God! He was full demon and had blood on his claws. But he also had a hole thru his stomach, larger than that time with Sesshomaru though. Kagome couldn't stand it! She watched Sesshomaru limp over to the middle of the field, in front of Inuyasha protectively. He called out a name, but Kagome couldn't hear anymore. Tears had flooded her eyes, and she had covered her ears. "NO!" she screamed. She again felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up and saw that she was alone again, but there was also a lady there. She had slightly tanned skin and was wearing a white flowing dress. She had flowing brown hair, and calm, sorrowful green eyes. She gave Kagome a sad smile and opened her mouth to speak.

~~~End Dream~~~

"Kagome!" Fox cried, hugging the still asleep, sobbing girl. Kagome's eyes snapped open. Fox released her, but she was still shaking a bit.

"Hey, Kagome. You okay?" Yusuke asked, concerned. Kagome could only nod her head yes numbly. Yusuke and Fox stilled looked worried, but handed her a chocolate shake.

They slurped it down hungrily, seeing as how it was already lunch time. "Thanks Fox-Chan!" Kagome said, hugging her.

"It's okay," she laughed.

"Well, we best get going," Yusuke said. "If we leave now, we'll get to the closest hotel in the next town at about 10." They agreed and walked again.

~~~Nine Hours Later~~~

Three tired teens basically crawled into the hotel lobby. It was more of a diner with rooms in the back than an actual hotel. They paid the clerk person $50 and he gave them the key. As soon as they got to their room (#9), Fox passed out on one of the king sized beds. (There were two…pretty cheap ne?) Yusuke however, sat Kagome down in a chair. He started to un-wrap her bandages, seeing as how she wanted to take a bath. As soon as he was done, he helped her to the bathroom. As Kagome took a shower, Yusuke relaxed.

When she was done, she got out of the bathroom, dressed in one of Fox's blue mini-skirts (*shrugs* She always wears them…) and one of her short sleeved sky blue tee shirts. Yusuke then wrapped her up again. Yusuke then took a shower and came out; dressed in some blue jeans and a white shirt they had picked up on the way. He was supposing that Kagome went to bed. But no, there she was on the couch, innocently sitting down, and chin in her hands. "Hey," he said, sitting down next to her, snapping her out of her musings. "So, what are ya still doing up?"

Kagome turned to look at him and gave him a little smile. "I'm just not use to sleeping is all," she said.

"Oh," he replied.

The awkward silence was broken when Fox started mumbling. "NO! Evil-trees-out to get me!-Kill them!-eep!-Not-sacred-bonsai-good-worship-"

Kagome couldn't sop the girlish giggled that erupted from her as she listened to Fox. Even Yusuke let a little chuckle go. `Good ol Fox' he thought. When Kagome calmed down a little bit, she felt more calm and at ease. "Thanks for helping me Yusuke," she said.

"Yeah, whatever," he replied. `God she has such a cute smile!' he thought.

"*Yawn* Well-I'm EXHAUSTED!" Kagome said.

"Ditto. Best get to sleep," Yusuke said, halfway to bed. "Night."

"Night." A few moments later he heard Kagome's shy voice. "Umm…Yusuke-do ya think I could uh-share the bed with you? Fox seems to have-"she pointed at Fox who was tangled in the bed sheets and somehow took up the whole bed.

"Uh-N-no problem," he said, blushing a bit.

"Thanks," she said climbing in. "Night."

"Good night Kagome."

~~~"KUSO!" he cried. He had followed their scent, it led here. But there were too many people and rooms. He'd be searching all night and he was tired. `I will SO kill someone!' he thought, UTTERLY irked. `Dang irking people!' And so, he settled down on a tree branch and fell asleep. ~~~

When the pair woke the next morning, they were both shocked to see that Kagome was snuggling into Yusuke's chest, while he had his arm protectively, yet possessively around her waist. All Kagome could think was `It feels as though it's always been this way though. I wouldn't mind holding him for all of time, nor if he held me for all of time.' Yusuke was sorta thinking along the same lines, just a BIT more panicked. They both went 1,000 shades of red. They were off each other so fast, you would believe they were youkai. Fox was aroused by a bucket of cold water being dumped on her. "Aaaaaaah!" she cried, bolting up.

"Fox-Chan, don't you want to take a shower before we go?" Kagome asked sweetly, while Yusuke whistled innocently. Fox grumbled a few choice words, but got into the shower anyway. She came out, dressed in a red tee shirt, jeans, and her hair in a braid. They then went to breakfast. After some bacon, eggs, coffee, and milk, they set out on the road again.

~~~Somewhere in the next village~~~

`Th-that smell! But-can it really be? I haven't seen her in so long! Will she remember me?' thought an orange haired teen with sharp canines and hair in a ponytail. `But-will she forgive me?'

"Mr. Shippo sir?" the waitress asked him, ready to take his order.
