Chapter Seven: Destiny Forgotten

~~~Kagome's Dream~~~

That damned darkness was back. Why wouldn't it leave her alone to have happy dreams?! She felt the familiar pulse around her neck. The freeing feeling came and she looked up. There was Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha, a little black haired girl, and a ten year old looking Shippo. The doormat fluttered open as Sesshomaru came thru and sat down next to Yash. The black haired girl jumped into his lap. "Uncle Sesshy!" she cried.

Sesshomaru patted the small girl on her head. "It's good to see you, Kagome. How have you been?" he asked, his cold demeanor a thing of the past, as he looked fondly down at Kagome.

"I've been real good Uncle Sesshy. But mommy, daddy, Uncle Shippo, and Uncle Yasha have been real quiet lately. I don't know why though," Kagome answered.

Sesshomaru knew though. It was exactly five years ago today that the first Kagome had left. It was 4 years ago today that he had joined them. 4 years ago that Rin died. Not to mention that it was 2 years ago today that Kaede died. Yup, this sure was one fucked up day. Sesshomaru merely nodded and pet Kagome on the head once more.

Then the scene changed. It was 2 years later. They were out in front of Naraku's castle. Kagome screamed as though her heart had just been ripped out. Sango was lying on the ground, a hole thru her chest. Kagome was near her, an arrow in her back. Sesshomaru had a slash across his chest, and was leaning against a tree, eyes shut and a frown on his handsome features. Miroku was missing, and Kagome could only guess what had happened to him. And there was Inuyasha. He had an arrow thru his heart and a hole thru his stomach. Shippo was limping over to him, several arrows in his back. Kikyo was standing there with her bows and arrows, next to a smirking Naraku, who at the next moment struck her down and vanished, chuckling like the freaking maniac he is.

Kagome felt as though her heart was empty. She sat limp on the ground, arms hanging dully by her side. As she was again surrounded by darkness, someone sat down next to her. It was that lady again. The lady pulled Kagome into a hug for a moment, and then released her. "I am Lani. I am the controller of Regret, Change, and Destiny. This is what happened after you left. You were ever meant to see this, but you must. Things would have been different if a few choices were differently made, but this is where my sister Kasumi came in. She is the master of Hurt, Betrayal, and Hope. Weird combination huh? I am here to help you. I have been haunting your dreams, because my sister has shown me what could have been, I relented. She has that weird power ya know. But anyway, I am here to tell you that there WILL be a chance that the destiny you saw will be forgotten. Kasumi will come visit you and help you along the way also. But for now, my child, my cousin Bliss has granted you a peaceful sleep. Sleep well my dear," Lani said then faded away, leaving Kagome to dream about the good ol days back in Sengoku Jidai.

Kagome woke with a start, thus causing Shippo to awaken. Kagome hugged him tight. "Oh Shippo!" she cried. "Please-tell me. What happened?" Kagome stared into his fearful and sad eyes, and grew scared. Shippo sat Kagome sown on a chair.

She sat down next to her, and sighed. "It was about 8 months after you left that Sango had a baby. Turns out she and Miroku mated before you left, and they named their pup Kagome. She was always so cute and cheerful, just like you. I always wanted her to be my mate. Well anyway, about a year after you left, we came upon a battle. Naraku and Kikyo were attacking Rin and Sesshomaru. Kikyo shot an arrow at Sessh while he was busy with Naraku, and Rin jumped in the way. Sessh transformed into a full demon and was about to kill them both, but they vanished right before he struck them. He stopped the transformation, being as controlled as he is, and tried to bring back Rin, but the bitches tainted miko power stopped him from even picking her up. Miroku carried her back to the village, since he was the only one who wouldn't get burned seeing as how he was so "holy" while Sango tried to comfort him," Shippo put his face in his hands here.

"We held the burial that same day, and Sessh hugged her one last time, despite getting burned like Hell. After that, he became more withdrawn and would only speak with Sango and Kagome," he stopped here and smirked at the memory. "Made Miroku jealous as Hell. Well, Sesshy joined us, and we all got along, even him and Yash. Well, about 3 years after you left, Kaede died. She left us her hut and horses. Then-"Shippo took a shaky breath. "About 7 years after you left…Everything went wrong, well, as wrong as it could get. We were ticked. Naraku and Kikyo had led us into a trap. He and Kikyo ambushed us. Miroku used his Wind Tunnel to suck up all the bugs, but was sucked in as well," Shippo wiped his tears away before continuing. "Then Kikyo started shooting us with arrows as Naraku used his root things. Kikyo that-that BITCH! She shot down Kagome! Then Naraku attacked Sessho, Sango, and Yash. Kikyo…she shot me 7 times. Everyone was dead except Yash and me. Then-Kikyo shot Yash thru the heart! I crawled over to him, and then he told me to tell you `Nee amata wo mitsuete soshite midoto wasurezu. Donma mi mum ga itakutemo soba mi iru mo, zutto…zutto…zutto…'. Then…then…"Shippo hid his face in his hands.

"He died…" he whispered. "And they vanished. I remember…It was Kirara that helped me. I thought she was dead, but no. She transformed and I piled every one except Yash and Kagome on her back. IO sent her ahead of me to the village, as I somehow loaded the two onto my back and transformed into a pink balloon. I had to stop several times, but I made it back. The villagers took care of me and Kirara's wounds, and cleaned up Yash, Kagome, Sango, and Sesshomaru. The next day we had a burial. Yash made a request sometime back to be buried under the God Tree where you guys first met. The others of course, wanted to be buried with him; they told me so one night. After they were buried, and I and Kirara were healed, we both set out on the road. But I was just a child, and they took Kirara away and threw me out at the net village. After that I lived alone, and learned from other various demons how to hide me demon appearances as the humans started taking over. Then, I finally found you Kagome," Shippo said to her.

Kagome had rivers of tears flowing down her face, and tried in vain to wipe them away. "So…can you-I mean, do you still know how to change into demon form?" she asked him. Shippo grinned, and POOF! He reappeared with a fox tail, paws, claws, and sharper fangs. Kagome squealed and started stroking his tail. It was no longer bushy; rather it was long, sleek, soft, and shiny. In fact, he had 2 tails now.

"I got my second tail when I was 13. Over the years, as I matured, so did they," he answered her unasked question.

"What's going on Kagome?" Fox asked sleepily. Then she saw them. Fox squealed, jumped out of bed, and started playing with Shippo's tails. "They're SOOOO KAWAII!!!" she cried, rousing Yusuke.

"What the Hell is going on?" Yusuke asked grumpily. "Who the Hell is HE anyway?"

Fox rolled her eyes at the rude boy. "This is Shippo, Yusuke. Ya know the little kit I told you about?" Kagome said.

"Ohhhhh," Yusuke said. Then he felt embarrassed. Everything made sense now. Kagome was only his mother figure. He felt his face flush slightly from his embarrassment and guilt. `It's not like she's my girlfriend or anything,' he thought to himself. Thank God the girls and Shippo were too busy with his tails to see.

Kagome then said, "Hey, I want to take a shower okay." Yusuke immediately got up and unwrapped her bandages. Most of the scabs had come off, and her skin was pink. Fox helped her to the bathroom.

"So-are you Okaa-san's new boyfriend?" Shippo asked, proving he still had some of his naive ness. Yusuke blushed a bit, and shook his head no. Shippo looked a little disappointed. After the two girls took a shower and got dressed, they set out on the road again. Shippo pulled something out of his pocket and showed it to Kagome. She gasped. IT was her red scarf that she gave to him. She smiled at him and hugged him tight. Then they continued on their way.

~~~He was ready to kill. He was GOING to kill if he missed them again. "KUSO!" he howled. "I swear-if you don't stay in the next village for at least two days, I will hunt you down and make you stay!" He then jumped to the next tree and was on his way again, following their scents.~~~
