When the pack sat up camp that very night everyone's eyes laid upon the hanyou. He had felt their confused glares all day and it was probably time to explain him self. "If I can of course, I have no actual reason at all why I am doing all this, or why I felt so strong like I did when the little girl came running out of the forest. Perhaps it is because I did not want her to suffer from the loss warmth a family can give you.." he thought and managed to place the sleeping kitsune cub better in his arms.

- Well, Inuyasha, care to explain what happened today? asked Miroku.

- I am not so sure that I can't. I just felt that she would feel more safe if she knew that she had a family that cared for her. And I don't care what my bastard of brother says, he cares for the girl, otherwise he would have killed her or make sure that she would not follow him around like she does, said Inuyasha and purred low when the kit began to stir in his sleep.

- You were very lonely as a child? asked Kurama's soft voice.

- Yes, and I…

- You don't have to tell us if you don't want to Inuyasha, said Kagome and smiled gently.

Inuyasha nodded, he did not want to talk about his childhood, it was only sad memories in the past. Kirara felt his sadness and she came to cuddle with the hanyou and kitsune. Kagome and Miroku laid down, the houshi being bold and put an arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. He was glad when she did not resist him. For once he was a well behaved monk and did not let his hands wander. He did not want to spoil the intimate and warm moment with the girl from the future.

Sango was carried away by Kurama, not very far though, but he wanted to do more the just cuddle. But this night Sango told him no, she did not want to ruin the wonderful feeling of being part of something new.

Sesshoumaru had not gone very far from the group; he had followed them and stopped when they had stopped to set up camp. His half brother had struck a cord inside the icy lord, something that now wanted to burst into something dangerous - love for another being. Since the [according to him] disturbed moment in the clearing, the young girl Rin, had been plastered to his form, not leaving him once. And now he sat with his back rested against a tree. Rin had found his tail and cuddle it like a … a toy. She had her thumb in her mouth and was sleeping without worries or fears. Her new daddy would protect her from anything that threatened them. And the worst thing of all - he liked it, in fact - he loved it. He wanted to growl but bit his lip, not wanting to wake her up. "I will get you for this Inuyasha, somehow I will get you for this." he thought and made one last sweep with his ears and nose to make sure that they were safe.

What none of them knew was that they were being watched by cold and piercing dead eyes. Eerie soul collectors floated around her miko-dressed form. Her prey and former love had displayed affections for children, something she thought he would be incapable of. "It does not matter anymore, you will come with me to hell Inuyasha, no matter what good sides you have. You will pay your debt to me." she turned around and walked silently away from the sight.

Miroku and Kagome lay face to face, blushing smiles grazed their lips.

- Kagome-sama, I have been thinking and I have a question to ask you, began Miroku with a soft voice.

- Yes, what is it? asked Kagome.

- Would you like to be my wife?

Kagome thought her heart would stop beating when she heard his soft question. Tears formed in her eyes, tears of joy and she nodded and closed the small space between them and kissed him.

- Yes Miroku, yes, I want to be your wife, she breathed against his lips.

- Kagome…

Soon they were kissing deeply, but they held back due to the closeness to the others in the group. Miroku promised Kagome that he would take them somewhere secluded when the first opportunity showed up. Kagome blushed but kissed him again before she snuggled closer into his dark blue robes.

Inuyasha had heard their whispering and he smiled into the red mass of hair that belonged to Shippou. He was happy for his friends. And yet, he felt envious, he wanted someone to be close with too. "But I have Shippou and Kirara, perhaps…" he looked down on Shippou and smiled again. He could perhaps ask Shippou to be his son, make a family with out a mate. Kirara seemed to be closer to him and Shippou than Sango after she mated with Kurama. Yes, he liked the fox demon. And the fox was strong; Inuyasha had been surprised how easy Kurama had taken care of his brother and Inuyasha always had thought that nothing could defeat his brother and yet… Ok the little girl had the lord wrapped around her small finger; that was something he was sure of.

He could smell that Sesshoumaru was near, but as long as the lord held his distance, Inuyasha would not interfere. Perhaps he even could ask Sesshoumaru to join their group? Shippou and Rin could play together under the watchful eyes of Kirara while the others were fighting against enemies. Inuyasha always felt a fear every time they would fight and Shippou was around. Just the thought of the kit being harmed in anyway made his hanyou heart ache in despair. Yes, he would ask his brother to join the group only because of the children. They did not have to witness the bloodshed between them and the enemies. He was sure that Sesshoumaru would agree to this too. And with that thought Inuyasha sniffed the air and found it to be clear from demons and other evil things and he closed his eyes and drifted off into a light sleep.
