Kouga was suffering from a bad case of guilt. He probably would never admit it, but he regretted the harsh words he had said to the wind witch. He was walking behind her, and had done so for two days. Somehow she refused to use her magical feather and he was glad, this way he could keep up with her, even if he had the advantage of two shards in his legs. He knew that she was aware of his presence but she never said or did anything about it. That, somehow, made him feel hurt. Kagura stopped and looked at the sky. Should she talk to him, was she brave enough to stand against his accusations one more time? It had hurt her soul so much when he rambled on the last time. No, she would not be able to take that. It hurt too much. Now she settled on trying to find her sister and her mate to be. Kanna and Kohaku were waiting for the growing pack to help them defeat that asshole that created them. "I wish that Kanna-chan and Kohaku-kun could be left out of the battle. They're too young to be involved in this madness." she thought and sadness was evident in her face.

As the day turned to dusk she stopped. She found a suitable place near the mountains and she made a small fire to warm her through the chilly night. This was the first time she stopped to camp for the night. She wanted to reach her sister, but at the same time she knew that Kanna and Kohaku needed their time alone as well. She heard a twig snap and she sighed. The damn wolf was still following her.

- Kouga-san?

- Yes Kagura-san? came the trembling answer.

- I allow you to share my campfire if you behave, said Kagura with soft voice.

Kouga came out from the shadows and settle down next to her. Kagura could feel something hot penetrate her demon heart but she quickly pushed it back.

- Kagura-san? said Kouga.

A silence fell between them. Kagura looked into the fire, trying to calm her body down. She knew that she wanted to hug the damn wolf, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She couldn't show him how much his words meant to her, not without giving away what her heart desired, in the process. She wanted the wolf, not as a friend, but as a mate. But he would never… no, she had killed off the better half of his tribe, he hated her, even if she had acted under the threat of loosing her own life. No… never… "Gods, why are you so cruel to me?" she asked silently as she once again looked at the stars.

Kouga could feel the tension flow from the demoness by his side. There was something she didn't want to show, but his nose and ears told him that there was more behind her façade than she wanted to show. A small shudder made him frown and he moved closer and he draped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her to him.

- Kouga-san?

- You're cold…, he said.

Kagura held her stance and let his warmth seep into her and she rested her head against his shoulder. It felt good.

Moments later Kouga could hear the slow and steady heartbeats and he knew that she had fallen asleep. He smiled softly and tucked her body closer to him, trying to make it comfortable for the both of them. It felt good.
