Chapter two
Prophecy

“The evil one's powers are growing,” thought a cloaked figure as it streamed through the shadows a small golden ring glittering dully in the pale moonlight as it stopped only to look solemnly out towards one of Jupiter's other moons.
“You should not worry so much,” spoke a deep voice from behind it. A silvery haired demon moved from the opposing shadows as the cloaked one looked towards him. Golden eyes shone brightly with both rage and sadness into the masked brown, both filled with the betrayal from the one they had come to cherished.
“How can I not?” The cloaked figure asked, a strain of black hair peaking slightly out from underneath the cloak. The demon looked sympathetically at the figure before raising a clawed hand and gently tucking it behind a pale ear; his skin scraping lightly across the smooth wet skin that left traces of salt on his hand.
“You must never give up hope,” whispered the demon as he allowed a rare smile to cross his face and pulled the figure towards him, a small hand protruding from within the cloak to hold tightly to the demon's beautiful white kimono.
“Arigato Sesshomaru-sama,” whispered the figure as the hood gently fell away to reveal a young girl, almost thirteen in looks with sapphire blue eyes shut tightly as crystalline tears fell in rivers down her face.
Without saying another word Sesshomaru detached himself from the teenager to walk down the white hallway, expressionless as ever in his regal attire he let his thoughts wander momentarily to the girl he had just comforted before resuming his plan of action to destroy the evil one.

The darkness in their hearts was almost evident; it tore at their souls, burning them with the hatred, scorching them with the malice. She would have laughed if she wasn't describing herself.
It had been so many years since she had even seen the light of the sun, since she had seen anyone besides that wicked creature that haunted her every thought. She had been locked away in the dungeons since she had been captured, they had taken her from the one she had loved, they had separated them so far that she could scarcely remember his voice.
A small sigh escaped her lips as she glanced upwards; the evil one had had her trapped away on the planet Pluto and bound her with so many spells and chains and youki that she could barely breathe, let alone escape.
A small star fell brightly through the sky, she gazed mesmerized at it as it fell. She had always loved the stars; they reminded her of her past. They represented her freedom and her imprisonment.
Shutting her eyes she began to concentrate, searching within herself to find the light in the darkness that threatened to overwhelm her once more.
“Ashes and decay,” she whispered her body glowing an eerie color as she recited the words that had run through her mind over and over again since her imprisonment.
“Cities in dismay,” she felt her heart pound in rhythm to her voice, a soft beat flowing with her words as the prophecy was spoken once more.
“Regret takes it's toll,” her voice was rising, adrenaline pumping in her blood as her eyes snapped open and began to shine with forebodingness.
“And feelings shall mold,” the ofudas surrounding her began to crackle with energy as she felt her powers breaking loose.
“Corruption's light shall take flight,” the bonds holding her down began to tighten as the energy pushed against the magic causing a spectacular display of magic to shower the darkness.
“The evil one's power and might will hold tight,” the power was overflowing her, she could almost not breathe in anticipation for the next words as she felt her eyes roll back in attempt to hold on to the last strands of control left.
“Both dissipating in a massive fight,” the words, though whispered, screamed through her mouth as the threads began to slip and the power began to leash out at everything near.
“When shadowed radiance can shine bright,” the energy returned to her in a brief flicker of energy as one ofuda dissipated at the amount of power.
“Well, well, well, it seems that the little prophet has prophesized the end of the evil one yet again,” announced a voice. The girl turned slowly to see a demon standing over her with an annoyed smile. The demon's long black hair pulled back into a bun with small feathers protruding from it. Red eyes gleamed in joy as she walked slowly yet predatorily towards the young girl bound to the ground.
“Tsk, tsk, you just have to keep breaking that ward don't you? Ah well, master Naraku has run out of these ofudas and the shipment has been delayed so I guess you will have to do without.” with one quick wink towards the girl on the floor she moved back out of the room, to deal with the pseudo-haynou and explain how the girl had broken yet another seal.
The girl however looked blankly towards where the other woman had left and sighed once again at how drained she was. That was the only reason she hated doing that, it left her totally defenseless, not that she could really use her powers under the spells, but at least then she had some to comfort her.
Looking down she allowed one soft smile to cross her pale face before she passed out and the quiet thought to run through her head as she faded into unconsciousness…
“All shall be done.”
------------------------------------------
The darkness was the only comfort that he could find. The darkness that had destroyed all that he loved, he now embraced. Feeling the malice and hatred flow through his veins and give him power. The power he needed to live. They had taken his sister, the evil one; they had locked her away never to see the light of day again. She was all he had left and he had left and the evil one had taken her to.
“Are you ready?” whispered a voice in his ear. It was that girl, the one that was like him, yet not. She still held the gaze of innocence that only held sadness and pity, not the morbid thoughts of death that he, himself held. Turning slightly he felt the sharpened blade rub gently against his skin as the girl looked with her red eyes sorrowfully into his frozen.
“Hai, and you?” he felt her small hand on his pale one as she moved softly towards him and gracefully nodded yes.
“We will find them,” she whispered encouragingly in my ear, “we have to.” She was right, as always. We had to find them. They were the last hope of the universe. If the evil one got the jewel shard then all of the casualties were in vain. All of the lost innocence was useless. Any chance at peace would be shattered once more.
“The evil one won't have it,” he whispered as a small emotion floated over his face, unreadable to any, “I'll die before they can take it from us!” That he would. He had fought many a battles for the world's peace and he would not live knowing that her sacrifice was in vain. He would never allow her last courageous act to be futile no matter what! They had all fought far too hard for that.
“She would be proud of you, you know,” spoke the girl again, her aqua colored hair falling in soft waves around her porcelain face. I felt the guilt fill within my heart as I saw the tears forming in her eyes, and watched in self-anger as the precious gems fell to the ground in a small noise. Walking towards her, he pulled her into a tight embrace as he felt the darkness once again leave his heart and be replaced by the bright light of his soul as he held his best friend, Yukina Jaganashi in his arms once more.

So how was that? I know it seems really really really depressing at the moment, but they have yet to all meet together and when that happens the `evil one' itself is in for a laugh. Oh well, bet you can't guess who the `evil one' is yet. :P and I aint' tellin'. Hehehehe.
