~*~Chapter 10: The Hunt~*~

The Gathering has been over for about a week and the humans of the Star Kingdom returned to their regular life. For Kaela, the hunt for her old friend was just beginning.

“Kaela? Where are you going to look?” Samantha asked her as she walked up to the cloaked dragon/tiger.

“I’m going to ask Koenma what he knows about Darkness and then go from there.”

“Kaela? Oh Lady Samantha. It’s nice to see you again.” Kurama said smiling to the wolf.

“Hello Kurama. You seem troubled. What’s wrong?” Samantha had concern in her voice.

“I just heard you were leave us again, Kaela. Why?” Kurama became serious for a moment.

“I wish to find an old friend of mine. He promised he would return but he has not yet. I’m going

to see if he’s still alive or not.” Kaela answered as she tied her katana tighter to her back.

“Perhaps I could be of some help.”

“She won’t take anyone’s help.” Samantha said while crossing her arms.

“Darkness doesn’t take to well to those other than dragons or those who are as strong as he.” Kaela said turning to them.

“Darkness?” Kurama asked.

(I bet I know who she is talking about.) Youko stated. You could here the smirk in his voice.

*Well, Fox, who is she talking about?* Hiei asked, watching from a nearby tree.

“She’s talking about the Dragon of Darkness Flame.” Samantha said while rolling her eyes.

“The Dragon of Darkness Flame?” Kurama asked in shock. Hiei was the same. He couldn’t

believe that the Dragon of Darkness Flame was a real dragon.

“Yes. Darkness and I were close then he left. His mother said ‘the one who bares his mark is where he resides.’” Kaela said watching him closely.

“Perhaps Hiei could help you.” Kurama said, not wanting to tell Kaela that Hiei bares the mark she speaks of.

“Why would Hiei be able to help?” Samantha asked, cocking her head to the side in confusion.

“Because I bare the mark of the Dragon of Darkness Flame.” Hiei said finally marking himself known.

Kaela watched him closely to tell if he’s lying or not. Something told her that he wasn’t lying but she didn’t want to believe it. Samantha was watching Kaela closely. Samantha knew Kaela better than anyone and she knew Kaela felt hurt, even if she didn’t show it.

“Kaela?” She was concerned for her friend but Kaela was stubborn. That’s what she gets for spending to much time with Inuyasha.

Kaela didn’t respond, she just disappeared in those silver flames of hers. Samantha knew Sesshomaru was not going to be happy if he found out. Sesshomaru never liked Darkness and would try to kill him every chance he got but now Sesshomaru could not do a thing.

“Samantha?” Kurama asked concerned for her.

“Kaela is hurting now. I thought it was bad when Darkness left but he never truly left her.” Samantha sighed. “It was a few years after Darkness left when she found the little boy who would do great things. We both should’ve known that he was Darkness with his ruby red eyes and black spiky hair.” Samantha turned to look at Hiei.

“Where did she go?” He asked not really caring about what she talked about.

“This is a test to see if you’re really Darkness. Left the dragon within guide you.” Samantha as she turned and walked away.

(What now?)

/Yes, are you going after her?\

*Hn* Hiei closed the link and starting running at top speed where he believed Kaela would be.

/He really cares for her, doesn’t he?\

(Yes, I believe he does.) Youko smirked at the thought of Hiei caring for someone other than his sister.
