"Kagome?" I smiled brightly at the welcomed distraction from the all too annoying voice in my head.

~HEY!!!!!!~

"Kouga-kun," I said, nervously tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, "I wanted to talk to you… to apologize for what Senshi said to you when I was out. That was really rude of her, and I had no knowledge of it until I awoke. I hope you can forgive me…"

"Heh," Kouga said, smirking, "It's alright Kagome. I understand that that washed up excuse for a demoness was the one sayin' that stuff. You don't have to apologize."

~WHAT DID HE JUST- Ohhh!!!!!!!! Kagome!!!! Are you really gonna let hi get away with calling me that?!?!?!?!?!?!~

"I still feel better apologizing," I said, my smile widening in my relief.

~…Meanie,~

"But there is something I wanted to talk to you about," Kouga said going serious.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think things would work between us,"

~…huh?!?!~

"That's alright, Kouga, I understand. Senshi, right?" Kouga nodded.

"Don't get me wrong, I love you! But I just don't love her. She's too loud and obnoxious."

"It's okay. We can still be friends though, right?"

"Keh! Of course we can!!! Nothing can stop me from helping you, Kagome!!! Say the word and I'll be right at your side!!! And if you ever get rid of the kitsune, we might even get back together."

"Thanks, Kouga. I really need to hear that I have people I can count on," I said, giving him a friendly hug.

"That's something you never have to worry about, Kagome!!! You've got a knack for making friends that would die for your happiness!!!"

"Well, I'd better get back to Sesshomaru's castle. Enma-sama is supposed to arrive sometime today to begin the discussions for the separation of the world as we know it. Think you can stop in sometime soon? The deliberations are gonna take a while…"

"Sure thing, Kagome! I just need to make sure my pack'll be okay without me for a few days."

"Thanks again, Kouga!!!! See you in a couple days!!!" I waved to the wolf as he ran off.

~Now that things are peachy again, do you forgive me?~

~Didn't think so~ I walked over to Kirara, who was waiting patiently at the edge of the forest and jumped onto her back, smiling brightly at her.

"Alright, Kirara, we're all set here." The neko nodded and took off for Sesshomaru's castle. The whole way, I ignored Senshi's comments, jokes and insults, all of which attempting to get me to open our mental link again. I knew there was only one real way to punish my other half. Her clingy nature simply would not allow for her to be ignored any longer than she saw fit.

~Hey!!! That's not true!!!~

~Damn it, Kagome, how many times do I have to tell you I'm sorry?!?!?!~

"KAA-SAN!!!" Shippo yelled up from the ground below us. I smiled down at him.

-How'd everything go with Kouga?-

~Fine, but Kagome's still not talking to me!!!~ I rolled my eyes as Kirara landed in front of the castle, catching my kit as he jumped into my arms and affectionately clung to my neck.

"Go easy on her, Kaa-san. She's just looking out for you." Shippo whispered to me. I smiled at him.

"I know. But that doesn't excuse some of the things she did!!! She knows just as well as I do that Inuyasha is harmless!!! Mostly, anyways,"

"Kagome!!!" my smile widened as Rin and Sango came down the steps. Sango was still a little new at her abilities, but had learned how to keep out of people's minds (For the most part) and keep a few of her thoughts from being telepathically projected.

~Sango!!! Will you tell Kagome to forgive me?!?!?!~ Sango bit back a laugh at the frustrated whine.

|Sorry, Senshi, but I don't have any control over will. Kagome's especially…| I stuck my tongue out at the Yogensha at the implied tease that I was stubborn.

"Is Enma here yet?" I asked, picking Rin up so that she'd stop jumping up and down at my feet. Shippo had already situated himself on my shoulder, so my hands were free to hold the attention seeking girl.

"No, but he should be here soon. I take it Kouga's forgiven you?"

"Yes. And he says that although he's more than willing to stay friends, a relationship just wouldn't work out between us,"

"And I take it you didn't see fit to mention that you've been saying that for years?" Sango asked, raising an eyebrow at me. It was still so weird being taller than her, even if it was just a few inches.

"I figured it was best to let him think he was breaking up with me. Youkai pride and all…" Sango laughed. "Speaking of which, has Inuyasha come back from sulking yet?"

"No. I think he's scared of Sesshomaru making good on his threat to get compensation for his missing arm by taking it off of him."

"I doubt it," I said with a smile. "Sesshomaru would die before he used Inuyasha's arm."

"True, but I don't blame Inuyasha for not wanting to take a chance." Sango and I laughed. "Miroku's been flirting with one of Sesshomaru's servants. A neko, I think. She seems a little spacey, but she's one of the nicer ones." Miroku was getting a lot of negative attention as a human in a youkai home. I they respected, since I had demon in me, no matter how strange our union was, but Miroku…

"That's good. It's nice to see youkai and humans getting along." I smiled sadly. That's one reason I never really liked the barriers. Sure, It kept dangerous youkai from hurting humans, but what about the nice demons, who didn't mind humans too much? And what about hanyous? Not demon, not human… where were they supposed to go? I've never seen anyone with half demon blood in the Ningenkai, and Senshi never met one in the Makai.

~No doubt they would've been slaughtered mercilessly right after the barrier was risen.~ Senshi said, grimly. Senshi hadn't given humans or hanyous a second thought when she was in her own body, but now, she looked to them with bemused affection, and even a protective loving.

"But that isn't right! What about Jinenji, and Shiori!!!" Sango protested. I sighed.

"Like I told Sesshomaru, we'll work something out." I frowned down into the forest. "I won't let anyone get hurt from this arrangement. We will find someway to make this work."

"Milady Kagome?" I turned to the bowing servant. "Milord wished for me to inform you that Lord Enma has arrived."

"Thank you. Where am I to meet them?"

"Milord's study, ma'am," I smiled and handed Shippo to Sango, making my way to the study in the middle of the castle.

"Lord Enma," I said once I got there, looking at the giant man who took up half the study by himself. The Gods only know how he got in here… "I'm relieved to hear that you finally arrived." Enma blinked at me, then chuckled.

"So, this is the human, eh? Yes, I can feel how powerful her soul is. Untainted, too." Senshi and I still didn't really understand how that happened. How can a demon's soul and a humans live in a single body without the demon soul tainting the human one? I think, though, it's because Senshi's protected me from so much. Who's to say that my integrity wasn't among them? "Tell me, Child, what's your name?" I took a deep breath and raised my chin up proudly.

"I am Higurashi Kagome, daughter of Gokaku and Ikuji Higurashi of Sunset Shrine in Tokyo Japan, 500 years from the future. I am also the born bearer of the Shikon no Tama, and a carrier of a reborn demon soul." Enma looked startled for a moment, then looked at us with a new respect.

"Yes, now that you mention it, I do see an extra soul in you. Kitsune, to be exact. Tell me, Higurashi-sama, how did you come to find yourself five hundred years in the past?" I smiled at him.

"Well, sir, If all goes well with these meetings, letting that information leak into the public could be very dangerous," Enma chuckled.

"True enough."

"Sit," Sesshomaru more ordered than asked, "And we will begin our discussions." Enma and I sat down, waiting for Sesshomaru to begin since he was the lord of the house. Thank Kami I knew demon etiquette for Senshi… "We have gathered here to discuss Enma's plan to separate the world as we know it into separate realms. Enma, explain these plans with more detail."

"As you wish, Sesshomaru-sama," Enma said with a nod, "Very well, my plan calls for using our combined spiritual energy to create three separate realms, and a powerful barrier between each. One realm shall be reserved for humans, one for demons and one for spirits."

"What of hanyous? And the demons that have found humans they care for? And what will happen to the living dead?" I asked right off the bat.

~Hey, you know what?~

"The living dead shall be returned to their proper place. The only what they shall return to the earth is through reincarnation." Enma frown, "I didn't give much thought to the hanyous, and demons and humans that co-exists peacefully. I suppose they shall be harder to place." Sesshomaru said nothing. I knew he was thinking of Rin, who had become his daughter. If we went through with this, the two of them would be separated forever.

~Well, we could just-!~

"Well, we'll have to keep them in mind when making this new world of yours." I said, smoothing out my kimono (Sesshomaru had insisted that so long as I was staying in his palace, I wear something more proper than my `distastefully short kimono,')

`Perhaps we'll allow them to stay in the human world?" Enma suggested. I shook my head as Senshi snorted in our mind.

"No. I've traveled a lot over the last few years, and if there's one thing I learned it's that people, especially humans, can be cruel to what they fear or don't understand. If you allow any demons and hanyous to stay in the N- realm of the humans, the people who refuse to open their hearts to them will torment them, and their children will be plagued as well. The ones who made the choice may keep their tempers in line, but what about their children?" Enma nodded thoughtfully.

"I see what you mean."

~Well, I have a-!~

"They will not be able to enter the realm of the youkai, either," Sesshomaru interjected, frowning at me. "The demons there will make a game out of hunting every last one of them down and slaughtering all of them in the most painful ways imaginable." Enma sighed.

"This does make things difficult…"

~Damn it, Kagome, I have an idea that might make this work!!!!~ Senshi paused thoughtfully. ~But I won't say it until you talk to me!~ I mentally sighed. Well, listening to Senshi's gloating was worth the happiness of the nicer demons and hanyous and such…

^Alright. Silent treatment's over. Now what's your idea?^ Senshi smirked smugly in my mind, letting her idea flash through our head. My eyes widened and I smiled. ^Senshi, you're an absolute complete and total genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!^

~And it took you seventeen years to figure this out?~

"I just had an idea," I said out loud. I almost rolled my eyes at my kitsune sides protest, "Well, actually Senshi just had an idea,"

"And?" Sesshomaru said impatiently. I smiled brightly.

"Why not just create four realms? The three Enma mention for demons humans and spirits, and then another one that will remain in our confidence that will house humans who don't mind youkai, youkai who don't mind humans and hanyous? They'll remain secluded from all the other realms, totally independent. Youkai and humans will never have to know they exist!" I paused thoughtfully, "Most of the humans with special abilities should go there, too. So long as they don't mind youkai and won't try and hex any humans, of course…" I added as an after thought.

~Good thinking. Inviting a human hating witch into a place like that is asking for trouble.~

"I like you're idea, but who will watch over it?"

"Watch over it?" I asked in bewilderment.

"Yes. I thought it would be a good idea to give you the gift of immortality, then have you watch over the humans, Sesshomaru watch over the youkai and I watch over the spirits," Sesshomaru and I just stared at him in shock. Well, I stared at him in shock at any rate.

"Ah…"

"No." Sesshomaru said, point blank. "This Sesshomaru refuses to spend the rest of his life chasing after weak demons,"

"And it might cause problems if people notice I don't age. Maybe I should just go back to my time and meet up with you two there. That way, there's no temptation to mess up the time line and make ramen, oden and pizza the main food groups of Japan."

~Hey, it was just an idea, alright?!?! Really, I can't say anything around here without being patronized!!!~

"Ahh… right," Enma said, looking a little confused.

~Twenty yen says he's wondering what the hell those are.~

^How can you make a bet with me if we're the same person? I mean, my money's your money, right?^

~Hmm… good point.~

"So, If neither of you want to rule over your respective races, how will we make this work?"

"I have no interest in ruling anyone," I said with a frown, "You can watch the humans, Enma. Besides, as soon as I get home, I plan to move my family to the fourth realm. Considering their reaction to Inuyasha, they'd probably be much happier there,"

~Does that mean you're coming clean about me?~

^Guess we'll have to,^ I was a little nervous at that thought. How would they react?

"This Sesshomaru plans to live in the fourth realm as well. I will be charged with its safety," Sesshomaru said.

~He doesn't want to rule over demons, but he wants to be in charge of a bunch of hanyous humans and youkai?~

^Rin. If he stays in this fourth realm of ours, He won't need an excuse for keeping her with him.^

"So you plan on leaving all of the other realms to me?" Enma asked.

"It's your idea, Enma. You're the one who deserves to be in charge of them," I said. "But I'd prefer it if you didn't try to order myself or my companions around." Enma chuckled.

"That sounds reasonable. On one condition." He became serious now, "Five hundred years from now, a month after you return to your time for the last time, I want to meet with representatives of the fourth realm. With accounts from these representatives, I will decide if a conference needs to be called to decide if the realm stays or not. If not, the demons and hanyous will go to the Makai while the humans will adjust to life in the Ningenkai. Do you two agree to these terms?"

"Yes."

"Hai." Enma smiled.

"Very well then! Now, let's talk about how we're going to get these realms up…"

DV- Relax. I'm not doing anything to you three.
