Chapter Two: The Real Adventure Begins

“Come on Kuwabara!” you shouted.

You turned around and looked at the struggling Kuwabara, whose arms were filled with shopping bags, five to be exact.

“Geeze (Your__name), why don’t ya just buy out all the stores!” he yelled through the bags, which were filled with your ‘necessities’.

You pouted.

“Oh come on Kuwabara! I didn’t buy THAT many cloths!”

He looked as if he was about to collapse.

‘I only bought five shirts, five pairs of hip hugger jeans, 7 pairs of shoes, 10 pairs of under ware, bras, and socks, and four pairs of pjs.’ You thought. ‘But then again, I did drag him out of bed early this morning to help me buy this stuff. He’s been a good sport up to now. Hell, he even bought me a sleeping bag, which I asked for! He deserves a break. I know how I can repay him!’

“We have one more stop.” You said, starting to walk away. “Then we’re done for the day.”

“It’s about time.” Kuwabara mumbled, following behind you.

You had to giggle at that remark. You couldn’t wait to see his face when you arrived at the last stop for your shopping trip.

“We’re here!” you announced after walking a few more blocks to your destination.

“FINALLY!” sighed an exhausted Kuwabara, coming up behind you.

Kuwabara looked over the bags. What he saw caused him to drop the bags, however you were able to grab them before they could fall to the ground; which would have been very embarrassing for your stuff to fall all over the ground. You gave a sigh of relief. You looked at him. The look that was on his face was priceless. You couldn’t help but giggle at his reaction. It was better then you thought it would be.

“THE ARCADE!” he said.

You smiled at him.

“You were such a good boy about the whole shopping thing that I figured we should have some fun on this shopping trip. And what better way then a few video games at your favorite arcade!” Kuwabara’s face lit up.

He just looked like a happy child who got what he always wanted at Christmas. It was just too cute for words. Just looking at him being so happy made you feel happy.

“Well?” you said after awhile.

Kuwabara was just standing there, basically in shock, staring at the arcade entrance.

“What are you doing just standing there like a goof ball? Let’s get in there and play some games!” you said.

Like you said the magic words Kuwabara ran right past you, into the arcade almost knocking you and the bags that you were still holding, over. You stood there looking at the dust that was clearing from his sprint into the arcade. Your eye was twitching and your blood was boiling over as you gripped the bags, ready to kill.

‘Why that no good….calm down, remember what happened last time you lost your temper?’ you thought.

You took several deep breaths before you entered the arcade. You loved playing video games, especially the shooting games. One of your favorites was the Police Training game. You played those types of games so much that you got better with your aim every time you played. You put a five dollar bill into the change machine and after getting your tokens, went off to find a game similar to the one back in your world.

Kuwabara’s sister had given you and Kuwabara some money for the day, since you had nothing on you and Kuwabara had no job. Shizuru wasn’t around for most of the time you were there, since she was on a ‘business trip’. You still didn’t know what Kuwabara’s mysterious sister did for a living; but you didn’t care at the moment. Shizuru was only going to be staying for that night and then she would have to go right back out.

Before you and Kuwabara left, she gave Kuwabara five hundred dollars and gave you an extra hundred, just incase. It was a good thing too, since Kuwabara almost spent all of the five hundred dollars. He had a twenty left, while you had fifty. You had paid for lunch, against Kuwabara’s wishes. You were very sneaky when you pulled that off. You and Kuwabara had five dollars in coins just for video games.

You looked over and found Kuwabara close to the entrance playing what looked like a mortal combat like game. You looked around and found a game that was similar to the Police Academy game. You put your bags next to the game and began to play for the next hour or so, having gotten pretty far and only using two dollar worth in coins. A chill went down your spine, causing you to mess up and lose one of your lives. You stopped for a second, leaving the game alone for a second, concentrating on the chill. It was a presence, you knew that for sure. It took you a few moments to realize it was Botan.

You could tell by the amount of energy she gave off. Yusuke gave off a fighting/ not to mess with energy, while Botan gave off a perky/ happy energy. You looked towards Kuwabara, having sensed Botan move from you to him. Kuwabara looked disturbed for a minute, saying something about the ‘tickle’ feeling.

That’s when you realized what episode you were in.

‘I’m in that episode, the one with the fire? I didn’t think it happened this soon, I thought it was like several days after the whole Kuwabara/ teacher thing!’ you thought.

Kuwabara looked into the sky.

“Hey (Your__name)! Do you see that?” Kuwabara asked continuing to look at the smoke that was thick and heavy.

You turned your head to the sky and saw it as well.

“Yeah, do you think we should go check it out?” you said.

Kuwabara nodded.

“Just what I was thinking. Let’s go.”

He ran off in the direction where the smoke was coming from. You were about to follow, when you remembered your bags. You grabbed them and ran after him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You reached the burning building, you could hear Kuwabara scream.
“Say what?! Urameshi’s girl?!”
You stopped a few feet from Kuwabara. You could feel the tension above you. Kuwabara stood there looking tense as did you, looking into the flame covered door. A burst of energy seem to explode from the house, you and Kuwabara both going stiff; both having felt the high and dangerous energy. Soon after that energy burst, a blue glow came from the once fire filled doorway. The on lookers looked on in awe, all too much in shock to move. Kuwabara and your self were like the on lookers; too stunned to move, however Kuwabara snapped out of it first.
“Stay here!” Kuwabara told you, taking a glance at you.
You nodded and watched Kuwabara run to the front door. He looked in before he ran in. Even though you knew how it was going to turn out, you still couldn’t help but worry.
After what seemed like forever, you saw Kuwabara helping Kekio and the *ahem* sheet out. As soon as they stepped out of the building; the door where they were just in was engulfed in flames. You ran over to them.
“What’s under the sheet?” Kuwabara asked, after having lay the bundle down on the ground.
Kuwabara reached over after getting a nervous ‘uhhhh’ from Keiko, and lifted the sheet, revealing Yusuke’s sleeping face. Kuwabara blinked at his arch rival’s face before jumping backwards and landing on the ground, pointing at the one who was suppose to be fire wood already. It was customary for the body to be cremated a few days after the wake.
“What are you doing with Urameshi’s body! Are you a sicko or something! Come on let’s go before the cops come.” Kuwabara said, standing back up and tossing the limp Yusuke over his shoulder.
He could hear the sirens in the background, coming in close. He grabbed a surprised Keiko’s hand and began to drag her away from the scene. You sweat drop, having been forgotten again. You ran after them, still holding onto the bags, even through this whole mess. Kuwabara didn’t stop running until he reached his house, more so his backyard. He let go of Keiko’s hand before setting Yusuke’s body down and sat down next to him, letting his running catch up with him. You weren’t too far behind, walking up to Kuwabara out of breath as well and plopping down next to Kuwabara, letting go of your bags on the ground.
“Ok…now…what’s going on, Yukimura?” Kuwabara asked, looking over at Keiko who was also out of breath from the running, but was calming down.
“Yeah…” you added, more to remind them that you were still there.
“Well, it’s a long story, but in short, I have to keep Yusuke’s body safe. He came to me in a dream, telling me that he was going to come back. It’s true, because his heart is beating again…” Keiko said.
Kuwabara looked dumbfounded by what was said, before he looked at the sleeping face of his arch rival.
“Ya mean…Urameshi…Yusuke’s coming back?” Kuwabara asked, disbelieve crossing his face.
Keiko nodded.
“Yeah.”
Kuwabara sat there for a moment, the information seeming to sink into his head before a wide grin crossed his lips before he started to laugh.
“Why you friggin’ bastard?!” Kuwabara laughed.
Kuwabara leaned into Yusuke’s sleeping face, a grin still on his lips.
“Hehehehe it’s just like you to beat death!” Kuwabara said, before leaning back and wiping the tears from his eyes; he had laughed that much.
You couldn’t help but smile at him. He seemed to be really relieved, maybe even over excited that Yusuke was going to come back.
‘It must have affected him more then what the show showed. Yusuke must be more then a rival to him, even at the beginning of the show.’ You thought.
“I can’t believe he’s really coming back!” Kuwabara said.
You smiled at him.
“I can’t wait to meet him.” You said.
He turned to you and gave you a grin.
“You’ll meet him alright, but he might not be such a pretty sight after I git done with ‘im.” grinned Kuwabara.
You shook your head at him and smiled.
In the sky, you could sense Yusuke and Botan, who had a person with them; no doubt the Spirit World Investigator sent to check on Yusuke. You couldn’t help but grin, knowing that they were all depressed, since that what Yusuke did had cost him the chance to return.
‘Here it comes.’ You thought, ‘Yusuke’s last hope.’
You couldn’t help but grin as you felt another presence appear above where you and the rest of the group were, no doubt Koenma telling Yusuke he had one final chance to return to life.
‘Once he’s back it will be fun and interesting.’ You thought.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Later that night, you were woken up by a scream. You jumped out of your sleeping bag and almost ripped it as you did so. You got up and sat next to a panting Kuwabara.

“What’s wrong? Are you ok?” you asked, while putting your arm around his shoulder, giving it a squeeze.

You were worried. That scream woke you up out of a deep sleep and nothing ever wakes you, not even an earth quake, which you had slept through one once; so you knew!

Kuwabara looked at you with that scared face, causing you to worry even more. You squeezed his shoulder again, letting him know that you were there.

“I had the most horrible dream! I was kissing…kissing…Urameshi!” he shuttered.

You looked at him for a moment before covering your mouth trying hard to suppress a laugh, removing your other hand from his shoulder, so you could contain your self. Once you had calmed down a bit, you looked at him with a gentle smile.

“I never though you were the type to go for guys, I always took you for a ladies man. But if you are into guys…well that’s none of my business.” you said, teasingly.

You loved to tease Kuwabara; it was fun, especially the way he reacted to your teasing. Kuwabara looked offended by the comment.

“I am not gay! I don’t even like the guy! He’s just my arch rival! That’s all!” he shouted.

You gave him a sly smile.

“Sure, whatever you say lover boy.” You said with a wink before going back to your sleeping bag.

Kuwabara just grunted.

“That is disgusting. You have a dirty mind.” He said before rolling over and trying to get back to sleep, though none would come for either of you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Kuwabara woke up tired, neither of you had slept the night before. Kuwabara had tossed and turned the whole night which annoyed you to the point you got no sleep as well. When it was time to go to school, the two of you decided it was best to skip and just sleep in for the day. Neither of you woke up until mid after noon, school already done. You felt refreshed and so did Kuwabara and decided to go back to the arcade since the two of you didn’t get a chance to really enjoy it.
As the two of you walked, you joked and laughed and acted like best friends. By the time the two of you got to the arcade, you had Kuwabara in a head lock. It was not fair, since Kuwabara’s code was not to fight girls, but you didn’t care. You still, technically, got the best of him in a fight. You took out the rest of the cash you had left over from the other day and started to play some games. While you were playing, you had noticed Kuwabara acting funny.
“Oh no, not the tickle feeling!” Kuwabara said, stopping the race car game he was playing before running off.
You watched him run, in shock at what happened before dropping the gun and running after him; a kid taking over for you. Kuwabara was a fast runner you found out, even though you saw him run the other day, but he wasn’t as fast as this! Kuwabara started to slow down, which caused you to slow as well. The two of you were walking, you edging up behind him until you were walking right next to him. The two of you walked in silence for a moment, you not knowing what to say to him. However, the quiet had gotten on your nerves and made you want to start a conversation.
“What happened back there?” you asked him.
Kuwabara just looked ahead, avoiding your eyes. You pursed your lips. You were getting a bit concerned for him. He seemed to be out of himself.
“I mean, you ran out of there like a bat out of hell.” You said, hoping to get a response from him.
However, he didn’t say a thing, no comment, no back talk, not even a growl. You couldn’t take it anymore, worry rushing over your system. You grabbed his arm and stopped walking, causing him to stop as well, glancing over at you. Your eyes showed your feeling; how worried you were, how concerned.
“What’s wrong Kuwabara? You’re scaring me. I’ve never seen you act like this before. I’m your friend, you can tell me anything, so please tell me what the problem is.” You asked, not knowing your hand slipped from his wrist to his hand, gripping it.
Kuwabara looked down, avoiding your eyes. He seemed to be in thought before reached down and removed your hand from his, shocking you. He continued to walk, leaving you there in a stupor. Kuwabara’s head was a mix of emotions. He knew what that chill was and he didn’t want any part of it. He didn’t want his first kiss to be with a guy, let alone his arch rival Yusuke! No, he would rather have it be with you. It was this comment that caused him to run. He didn’t know where that had come from. He wasn’t sure what he was feeling for you, his emotions and reasoning butting heads with each other. He knew that if he had feelings for you in a way that was romantic, then it would only lead to heartache and pain for not only him self but for you as well. From what he knew, it pointed in that path if he was to choose that road. He didn’t want to get hurt, but even more he didn’t want you to be hurt. It wasn’t your fault that he had met you, it wasn’t your fault at how he found out. So he wouldn’t have you suffer for
his mistake and curiosity.
You began to panic.
‘Have I said something wrong? No, I only said something a concerned friend would say. What could have him acting like this? Could it be from that dream last night?’ you thought as you watched him continue to walk away from you.
As you watched him, the events of the previous night came to mind, causing you to gasp with realization.
‘Kuwabara must have felt Yusuke! I remember how it went! Kuwabara was playing a video game and Yusuke, trying to get Kuwabara’s attention, forgets he can’t really hit some one and tries. He goes through Kuwabara, who doesn’t like the feeling he had and runs away. This is the episode Yusuke comes back! But this doesn’t explain why he won’t talk to me.’
You thought about it. An idea came to mind, causing you to grin wicked for a moment, before you replaced it with sad look.
“Have…have I done something wrong?” you asked in a meek voice.
At this, Kuwabara stopped in his tracks.
“I mean…if I have…I’m sorry…”
This caused Kuwabara to turn towards you, looking at you.
‘I got him now! Now he has to tell me what’s wrong!’ you thought.
“I…I guess it wasn’t a good idea for me to stay with you I guess…I mean…I only do things and say things that make you mad or get hurt…I should just leave…it…it would probably be better that way…” you said, looking down and with a sniff to add to the effect.
Kuwabara just stood there, deep in thought. Your insides were smirking, and congratulating your self on a wonderful performance.
‘I should get an oscar for this.’ You thought with a mental smirk.
Kuwabara closed his eyes, lowering his head as he let out a sigh. However, instead of spilling his guts as you thought he would do, he opened his eyes and a huge smile came over his face.
“I didn’t want to say anything, but I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought so!” Kuwabara said. “It would be less stressful! So when do ya wanna move out? I mean, I bet one of the guys won’t mind you stay with them until yer memories come back.”
You felt your body fall to the floor, your feet sticking in the air. You got up ready to take back your words, fear filling your body; which you weren’t sure why you felt afraid of losing him. It was here that Kuwabara broke out into a bigger smile before laughing. You stood there, completely and utterly confused.
“Whu?” you say.
“I got cha! Man, you should have seen yer face, it was priceless! I can’t believe ya fell for that! I thought you knew me better then that (Your__name)! Do you really think I would break my promise, especially to you?! I’m a man of word, ya know! Hahaha!” he was laughing so hard he was holding his side.
You looked at him in disbelief. You couldn’t believe he would do such a thing to you, however he did do crueler jokes to Yusuke; like the time he didn’t tell Yusuke if Keiko and Botan were alright, or the time he ‘died’ at the Dark Tournament and even had Hiei in on the plan. Your eye started to twitch as you felt your hand begin to twitch, wanting some flesh to flesh connection. You stormed up to the still laughing Kuwabara, who was too busy laughing to notice how pissed and how dangerously close you were. You made a fist and hit him in the jaw as he was leaned over in his laughing. You hit him so hard that he had spit and blood fly out of his mouth before he landed hard on his back, his body twitching a bit. You glared at his twitching and swirley eyed Kuwabara before stomping off towards his house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You didn’t speak to him through dinner that night, which consisted of another TV dinner. Every time Kuwabara would try to start a conversation with you he would either get no eye contact from you or you would shove some food in your mouth. AT one point, he tried to apologize, however you sent him a glare. He seemed a bit hurt by the glare, but you were still mad about the ‘joke’ from earlier and were in a ‘bitchy’ mood.

Kuwabara couldn’t understand how you could still be mad at him, even after he tried to apologize. He knew he might have gone a bit too far with his joke, but he felt that you deserved it from all the times you had picked on him since you had stayed with him. He was under a lot of stress, not to mention mental drain lately, and he didn’t need the added weight.

Kuwabara sighed. He was starting to get frustrated.

‘Fine, two can play this game.’ Kuwabara thought, figuring he should give you the cold shoulder and see how it felt; he did try to apologize after all.

You snuck a glance at him while he wasn’t paying attention and noticed how up set he seemed to be at the fact that he hurt your feelings and the fact he had no one to talk to during dinner. You also noticed that he was looking around, as if he was looking for some one. You shook it off.

After they had finished eating you went to his room and sat on the sleeping bag, doing homework that was forgotten from the night before. After a long time of doing an essay that was due the next day for English, you looked at the clock; it was 10:03pm.

You yawned.

You figured you could torture Kuwabara a little bit longer, no longer mad at him. However, you weren’t going to let this go, figuring he needed to learn that it wasn’t nice to play a joke like that, especially with someone’s emotions.

Although, you did do the same thing, sort of, but it wasn’t to get a few laughs, but to find out what was wrong with him. You figured that yours was justified, while his was a mean joke.
You decided to get ready for bed, grabbing a pair of your new pjs from a drawer that was just for your cloths.

What you grabbed was a pink outfit that had silk like material on the inside. The top had long sleeves and was a button down top that had a low v that showed a little cleavage. The pants were a little big on you, but were still comfortable.

You got dressed in the bathroom. When you came back to his room, you knocked first. You didn’t want to barge in on Kuwabara, though it would be interesting to see him getting dressed. You shook the thought out of your head.

You knocked.

“Yeah?” Kuwabara said through the door.

“Can I come in?”

You heard some movement.

“Ok.”

When you walked in, Kuwabara was covered with his quilt and looking away from the door. You already knew what he wore to bed, since it was the same thing he wore every night to bed. All he slept in was his boxers; sometimes he would wear pants, but mostly boxers.

You found it funny that how much people hated him, yet they didn’t notice how hot his body was, since most of those who disliked him were more into looks then personality. You couldn’t help but drool over the nice firm six pack he carried, not to mention how ripped his arms and chest was. How you wanted to feel his nice strong arms bring you to his nice firm chest, to feel his muscles under your delicate hands.

Your face turned red at the thoughts that seemed to come from no where; shaking your head feverishly.

‘You are such a Hentai!’

You were lucky Kuwabara had his back to you; giving you a nice covered view of his butt, but still turned from you were he couldn’t see your face burn up.

You walked over to your sleeping bag and laid in it. Kuwabara moved to face the other side, giving you his back. You could tell that he was very upset about what happened. You were starting to have second thoughts about making him suffer more.

A chill came over you as the room’s temperature seemed to drop more then it usually was. It never dropped as drastically as it did whenever Yusuke and Botan visited. You shivered even with your Scooby-Doo blanket wrapped around you. You could sense other spirits in the room; none among them being either Yusuke or Botan. You sat up, looking around. You knew you couldn’t see them, but you couldn’t help but feel a bit scared.

A noise caught your attention. You couldn’t tell what it was, but it was coming from Kuwabara’s bed. He still had his back to you. You looked closer and found his body trembling and flinching a bit. He seemed to be muttering something that you were unable to understand or hear. You watched his trembling form a little while long, your eyes widened as it dawned on you that he was in a fetal position. You got scared seeing him like this, having been sleeping in the same room for a week and a half; you had never seen him act like this.

You got up and sat next to him. He tensed up but relaxed a little when you spoke.

“Are you ok Kuwabara? You’re scaring me, again.” You said.

You were scared. You couldn’t understand how come you didn’t notice all of these spirits before; there were too many to not notice. You knew he had a stronger spiritual sensitivity then you did, but that didn’t explain why you could sense them now. You doubted that your awareness had grown as strong as his in such a short amount of time.

You could tell Kuwabara was trying to keep his cool, especially in front of you. He took several deep breaths before he sat up and looked at you.

He had a serious face. Kuwabara’s normally Elvis style hair was lose and very curly, some strands were in his face, which made him look more mature and handsome. His brown eyes looked at you with a mix of fear and aggravation.

“It’s nothing…really…I’m fine.” He said, turning away from your eyes.

You pursed your lips, giving him a concerned yet firm look.

“You’re not fine…I can tell…please…I just want to help, please let me, Kuwabara…” you said.

Kuwabara didn’t look at you for a moment before his eyes turned back to you, a little hesitation and uncertainty in those eyes.

“Can I tell ya something with out you laughing?” he asked.

You nodded your head.

He took in a deep breath.

“I have a six sense. I’ve had it from since I can remember. I can sense spirits. I can tell when they are around because I get this chill, or tickle feeling down my spine whenever their around. Some are good, but most of them are not. I can hear them sometimes and others…other times I can feel them too…and sometimes they cause me to be paralyzed as I sleep…I know it sounds weird or even crazy, but…but it’s not, I’m not.” Kuwabara said.

You looked at him.

‘I might as well tell him that I can sense spirits, maybe that will help settle his nerves.’ You thought.

“I don’t think your crazy…in fact…I kind of have that…I mean…when I first lost my memory and ran into you and your friends, I seemed to be able to…sense other presences, no matter if they be spirits or people.” You stopped and thought, trying to keep your self with the story you had already told him; the amnesia one. “I’m not sure if I had these…abilities before I lost my memory or just recently, but all I know is that I can sense other people or spirit’s presences. I was afraid to tell you because I thought you would think me a freak and not let me stay here and live with you anymore. But now that I know I’m not alone, I feel better and not feel as much as a freak as I did before.”

Kuwabara’s mouth dropped.

“What?! You can sense them too? Did you sense those two spirits that were around us this past week? I think I know who it was too. I think it was Urameshi, though I didn’t know who the other one was.” Kuwabara said, sounding a bit excited at knowing that he wasn’t alone.

“Yeah I figured it was him too.” You said with a smile.

Kuwabara looked at you with a raised eye brow.

“Really? But how do you know it was Urameshi? I mean, you never met him to know what he would feel like.” Kuwabara asked.

‘Shit! I messed up again! I bet think fast.’ You thought.

“Well…I remember you saying that Yusuke was a fighter and the presence that I felt was fighter’s spirit, yet it wasn’t a bad one. So I figured since he recently died and all that he would have to be the one following us around.” You said, hoping he would believe it.

Kuwabara seemed to take in the information before nodding, believing it.

“Yeah, Urameshi does have a weird vibe to ‘im.”

You let out a sigh of relief.

You noticed that the spirits seemed to back off. You seemed to be helping him with his spirit problems and making him feel safe, just as he does whenever he is with you.

Kuwabara noticed the spirits back off too, and grinned.

“Hey, looks like they’re backin’ off! They know not to mess with two people!” Kuwabara said with a grin.

You smiled and nodded.

“Yeah.” You said before a yawn escaped your lips. “Well, I guess we better go to sleep.”

Kuwabara nodded, but before you got off his bed he grabbed your wrist.

You blinked and turned to him, holding back a blush.

“Ummm... (Your__name) are you still mad at me, you know…for that…jokes?” he said with the most adorable puppy dog look you had ever seen!

You smiled at him.

“No, I'm not mad at you still. How can I with a look like that one. Now let’s go to sleep.”

He let go and gave a sigh of relief.

You got back into your sleeping bed and closed your eyes. Kuwabara had lain down. You were close to falling asleep.

“Whaddya mean ‘with a look like that one’?’”

________________________________________________________________________ _______

The next day you and Kuwabara were sitting in the dinning room that was next to the kitchen; having breakfast. Kuwabara had some cereal, which looked like a kind of fruit loops, while you decided to have some toast. While you were both eating, there was a "knock" on the door; more like pounding. Kuwabara sighed and got up.

"I'm coming! Hold yer horses!" he yelled.

He was gone for several minutes when you heard him scream.

"WHAT?! EIKICHI!? HOW?! WHEN?!"

That's when you left the table and ran to the door. You saw Kuwabara freaking out, while his three friends stood there, telling him more.

"…and he said he'll kill her if you don't steal some mangas for ‘im!" said Kirishima.

"What are you gonna do Kuwabara?" asked Okubo, he looked worried, all of them did.

You had remembered this part of the episode where Yusuke comes back. You walked up to the group and said good morning to his friends and bow. They did the same. They had gotten used to you and the fact that you were living with Kuwabara. They thought of you like a little sister and would protect you, even though they knew you could take care of yourself; though it was nice to know they had your back.

"Who's Eikichi?" you asked.

You already knew, but if you wanted to keep up with the 'role' you were playing by, you would have to ask many questions.

Kuwabara looked at you.

"She's my kitten. She normally likes to go out side. I wasn't worried about her, since she likes to stay out for weeks at a time. During that period, she would only come home for dinner or to sleep with me on my bed. She hasn't done that for awhile, but I didn't think it was because some punks decided to use her to get me to break my honor code!" he was upset.

"How does she leave? Do you let her out?"

You were just confused.

"See that crack in the door? It's not really a crack it’s a mini door that I made for Erikachi to use whenever she wanted to leave."

You saw the little door.

You could see a struggle in Kuwabara's face. His feelings were mixed in with his thoughts. It was clear that he was fighting with himself to choose the right thing to do.

Would he steal the books to save his kitten and soil his honor code at the same time? Or will he let them kill his kitten in order to stand with his code?

There was a moment of awkward silence.

"I have an idea!" Kuwabara said, breaking the silence.

He ran into his room, leaving four friends, who are very worried about Kuwabara. Kuwabara came back dressed in some jeans and a white t-shirt. He started to leave when you stopped him.

"Hold on, I'm coming with you. I'll only be a few minutes." you said.

You left the room to go change.

When you came out, you wore one of the new outfits you bought on that 'shopping trip' a few days ago. All four guys almost fell to the floor. You never showed Kuwabara what cloths you had bought; just tried some on and bought the ones you liked.

You were wearing a dark blue low cut hip huger jeans with no belt, but you didn't need one, since they were hanging on your hips; black boots that were hidden under the pant legs. The top was a black sleeveless short turtle neck that showed your figure, but wasn't reviling. You hair was back in a tight high pony tail.

You looked hot. You looked more your age then 16. You didn't even need to wear make up. You gave a silly smile. They looked shocked. You walked past them and out the door.

You turned.

"Aren't you guys coming?" you asked.

They shook their heads and followed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kuwabara, his three friends, and you were walking to the meeting spot with the comics that he had BOUGHT, under his arm.
“Are you sure this will work?” asked Okubo
“Of course it will work! It has to work!” said Kuwabara.
You all reached the door. Kuwabara took in a deep breath and walked in. You started to look around. You found Yusuke wearing sunglasses and reading what looked to be a manga. He wasn’t too far away from where the boss and his punks were. You noticed that his mouth dropped at the site of what you were wearing.
You couldn’t help but smirk.
You turned to the ‘bad guys’. They had noticed the out fit too, and were looking you up and down, a few giving you a whistle.
‘Maybe this wasn’t the best outfit to wear.’ You thought, ‘Though I do look sexy, and it is comfortable.’
You were trying to keep your self calm with little jokes. You loved making fun of serious situations, and also loved making fun of your self, to get a laugh.
Kuwabara threw the comics onto the table.
“Here! I didn’t know what kind you liked so I got a variety; now tell me where she is!”
The boss looked at the comics and frowned.
“Funny, I didn’t know you received recites when you steal something? I’m disappointed in you.”
“It doesn’t matter how I got them. I got them didn’t I? Now give me Eikichi!” said a pissed Kuwabara.
The boss looked at him.
“It does matter. I’m trying to teach you how it feels to steal. Now apologize.”
“What?!” you and Kuwabara’s friends said.
You were getting caught up in the whole scene, forgetting what happened.
“On your knees and apologize.”
“Kuwabara won’t do such a thing for you!” said Sawamura.
“Shut up!” growled Kuwabara.
He got on his knees, bowing his head.
“Kuwabara.” said Okubo.
“I’m sorry.”
“What was that?”
“I’M SORRY!” shouted Kuwabara.
The boss and his posey laughed. Joann gave him a death glare, one which is equal to one of Hiei’s. One of the guys took out the little kitten.
“I can’t believe the great Kuwabara can be made helpless by this retarded kitten.”
“Eikichi!” cried Kuwabara.
The guy was dangling the poor kitten in the air, holding on to the back of her neck. She was meowing. You heard a crash and looked over to see that Yusuke had fallen. You would have laughed, but this situation was serious; if you had laughed it might set something off.
You turned back to the monster in front of you.
“How dare you use Kuwabara’s love of kittens!” said Kirishima.
You were back being absorbed into the scene again.
“You monster! You’re not even human if you use dirty tricks like this to defeat an opponent! You are weak and a coward to use such techniques! You should be a man and fight one on one, if you really don’t like Kuwabara, and not use his own kitten against him!” Your eyes were beginning to turn red.
The boss laughed.
“Well it seems that things are becoming more intense. I suggest we move this…arrangement to a more…suitable place, like outside behind this store.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Everyone left the building and headed towards the back. Once there, Kuwabara, his friends and you waited until the ‘punks’ where all there too. Once everyone was there, a staring contest took place. After a while, the boss finally spoke.

“You’re pathetic. You still don’t seem to understand why I wanted you to steal those books. It was to get you to know what a thrill it is to steal something. But since you didn’t, I will give you one more chance. I want you to hit your friends.” Kuwabara just stared at the guy.

“They’ve been staring at me the whole time; it’s really rude.” Kuwabara clenched his fists.

“I…I can’t hit them…it’s against my code and they’re my friends! I will never hit them!”

“Come on Kuwabara, just hit us.” Said Okubo.

“Yeah, we’ll pretend it’s those jerks hitting us. We’ll get them later.” said Kirtine.

“I can’t do that to you guys!”

You put your hand on his shoulder.

“It’s ok Kuwabara, don’t worry about us. You know we can take whatever you can throw at us.” You gave a joking smile. “Besides, you couldn’t do that much damage.” You said in a whisper.

You didn’t want the ‘bad guys’ to hear that. They would use it against Kuwabara, and all you were doing was trying to lighten up the mood. You always had to make that kind of remark in a situation like this. It was how you dealt with stressful situations.

Kuwabara turned to you with a sad look and frustrated look.

“Just stop it (Your__name).” he said with a sigh.

You had hurt him, not meaning to, but you did. You only wanted to help him, but then again criticizing his fighting was not the best way to help. You took your hand off his shoulder and took a step backwards, afraid that you would say something else that might hurt him.
The boss noticed this tension between Joann and Kuwabara and smiled.

“If you won’t hit your friends, then let me suggest that you hit that girl” he points to Joann.

“It seems that you wouldn’t mind hitting her.”

Kuwabara looked the boss in the eye. His eyes full of anger.

“I would never hit (Your__name)! NO MATTER HOW ANOYING HER SENSE OF HUMOR IS, I WOULD NEVER HURT HER! SHE’S BEEN THERE FOR ME WHEN I NEEDED HER THE MOST! SHE’S BEEN MORE OF A SISTER TO ME THEN MY OWN SISTER! DON’T YOU DARE EVEN CONSIDER FOR A SECOND THAT I COULD OR EVEN WOULD CONSIDER HITTING HER! SHE IS AS VALUABLE AS MY FRIENDS HERE! SO DON’T YOU EVEN DARE TELL ME TO DO SOMETHING THAT IS NOT ONLY AGAINST MY CODE, BUT AGAINST MY HEART!”

Kuwabara was out breath, but not for saying the words, but from the anger he was feeling, trying to control him self.

You were taken back by what he had just said. You knew that you deserved to at least get a punch in the face for the comments you had said. However, Kuwabara didn’t even think about doing such a thing!

You were so touched by his words that you were speechless for the first time in your life. You had felt something in the pit of your stomach that just ached for him. You didn’t know what exactly that feeling was, but it was the same feeling that you had felt when you were comforting Kuwabara and the same feeling when Kuwabara was happy. You just didn’t know what this feeling was, but you liked it.

The boss gave an evil smile

“How touching, but the fact of the matter is if you don’t, then your kitten dies. But it seems you’ve made your choice.”

He made a signal and the guy who was holding Eikichi grabbed a bottle from the ground and broke it. He moved the broken end of the bottle towards Eikichi’s throat. She struggled to get free; meowing the whole time. Kuwabara out stretched his hand.

“EIKICHI!”

Just then, someone came from no where and kicked the guy’s arm, which had Eikichi in it. The kitten flew through the air and the person jumped up and caught her. He landed on his feet and slowly stood up.

“Yo...Greeting from Hell guys.” Said Yusuke with a grin.

“Urameshi!” said Kuwabara in sheer delight.

The punks, hearing Yusuke’s name fell back a little.

“He’s supposed to be dead!” said one of them.

The boss looked mad.

“Don’t just stand there; get him!”

They hesitated for a few minutes before they charged Yusuke.

Yusuke started dodging their attacks. He kick a few of them and with his free hand gave a few good punches in the face.

He went to Kuwabara.

“Hold him will ya?”

Once Kuwabara had Eikichi in his arms he squealed her name.

"Hey Eikichi's a girl!" he said, realizing that Yusuke called his precious kitten a guy.

"Hey." Kuwabara turned to his gang. "See these butt wipes guys? Let's flush 'em!" Kuwabara shouted, going towards a few members, his gang right behind him.

You were right behind them, and busy with four guys who were now surrounding you. You looked at them.

“This isn’t fair. Don’t you guys think it would be fair if you had at least two more people against me? At least you would have a chance?” you snickered

They growled and came at you.

You smiled and did a spinning back kick, which knocked all of them to the ground. You scratched the back of your head.

“Well that was fast; I thought at least they would give some kind of fight.”

You walked over one of the guys. You didn’t get too far when you felt something on your leg. Before you could see what was holding onto your leg, you fell and turned around, just enough to see that one of the guys had grabbed your leg and was now standing up.

“You shouldn’t have done that.” You snickered.

You swung your free leg and kicked him in the *ahem*. He bent over holding the respective area and fell to the ground.

By the time you got up and looked around, Yusuke was gone, obviously after the leader. Kuwabara was still holding on to Erikachi, but some how was able to beat up several guys with out hurting her, while the rest of the gang had gotten the rest of the punks. Once all of the guys were out cold, Kuwabara looked around for Yusuke.

“Hey, where did Urameshi go!” said Kuwabara, all hyped up from all the fighting he was doing and probably also from the fact that his arch rival was back.

“I think he went after the boss.” you said.

Kuwabara looked disappointed.

“Man, I wanted to thank him…Maybe I’ll see him in school tomorrow!” he started laughing and mumbling to him self as he walked away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, you both went to school. When you got there, Yusuke was standing with Keiko.
“Hey Urameshi! You ready for me to kick your butt!” Kuwabara yelled at him.
“Kuwabara didn’t Yusuke save Erikachi?” asked Okubo.
“So? I still need to kick his butt.” Kuwabara started rolling up his sleeves.
“Feh, some things don’t change.” Smirked Yusuke, hilting his head to the side as he brought his fist up, Kuwabara’s only warning.
You walked in front of Kuwabara.
“Hold on Kuwabara, I have something I need to tell Yusuke, before you beat him up.”
You turned red and walked up to Yusuke, who gave you a weird look. Kuwabara just stood there, just as confused as Yusuke was. Yusuke looked down at you with a raised eyebrow as you looked up at him with a sweet smile, a smile that seemed to make Yusuke gulp. He had a bad feeling.
“I never got to fully introduce my self. I’m (Your__name).” you said, keeping the smile on your lips.
However, it didn’t last long as your face turned red and a vein seemed to be sticking out of your forehead, causing Yusuke to take a step backwards. Your hand came up and punched him in the jaw, causing him to stumble backwards a bit, a little sliver of blood coming from the corner of his mouth. He stood there stunned. He looked at you, wiping the small dribble of blood with the back of his hand. Keiko stood where she was in shock as well, while Kuwabara’s jaw dropped from the entire scene.
You took a step towards him, which made him gulp a bit.
“THAT WAS FOR SPYING ON ME WHILE I WAS DRESSING YOU PERVERT! I COULD SENSE YOU WHEN YOU WERE DEAD!!” you shouted, your eyes turning a bit red.
You let out a big breath, having calmed down a bit before a happy smile came to your lips.
“I feel much better. You can now have him Kuwabara.” You said before walking towards school, past Yusuke who just watched you go.
‘Damn it…I’m in trouble…’ Yusuke thought as he glanced at a pink and angry looking Keiko; he was more scared of the look Kuwabara was giving him.
________________________________________________________________________ ______________
That day was the last time you had seen Yusuke. You figured he must be fighting Hiei or that other guy, or helping Kurama.
During the week however, Kuwabara’s problems grew worse. Every night, the spirits would torture Kuwabara more and every night you would have to comfort the poor guy and end up sleeping next to him for the rest of the night, which you didn’t mind sleeping next to him; it was just the lack of sleep that was getting on your nerves.
On the fifth day, which was a Friday, you decided to discuss some options Kuwabara could take to help him with his problem. That night at dinner, which consisted of another TV dinner, you asked.
“What are you going to do about those haunting? I haven’t gotten a decent night of sleep in weeks! It’s driving me crazy! Is there someone who you can get help from, before I go mad!”
Kuwabara was silent for a while, looking like he was thinking it over.
Then finally it struck him.
“Yeah! That’s what I’ll do! She’ll know how to help me!”
You looked blankly at him.
“Who?”
“Genkai! We go way back, she use to baby sit me and Shizuru, before our mom died. Mom and Genkai were friends, so she would ask Genkai to watch us when ever she went to work at the hospital.”
You looked at him.
‘This is great! I’m starting to learn about his past! This is so cool! I better ask more questions!’
You took in a deep breath.
“If it’s not too much trouble, can I ask about your parents? Like what happened to them?” you asked.
Kuwabara was quiet for a minute before he took in a deep breath.
“Well, my mom died in a car accident about four years ago, when I was ten. She was driving home from work and a car cut in front of her, causing her to swerve off the road and into a tree. She was killed instantly. Shizuru and me have different dads. Mine was an American who was visiting and had a….fling with my mom, while Shizuru’s dad was actually married, but when he found out about mom and my dad, he left and we never saw him again. The American went back to where he lived, the jerk, and went home to his family. That’s basically it, my mom died and both Shizuru and my dad left us to die.”
You were taken back by how disturbing his past was. You had never expected his childhood to be so…traumatic. It’s no wonder he didn’t become a manic or something. You looked at him for a moment longer before you stood and walked up to him. He looked at you, a bit confused at what you were doing. He was shocked that you went behind him and gave him a hug, resting your head in the crock of his neck. A blush covered not only your face, but his; neither of you able to see the other’s blush.
“(Your__name)?” he said.
“I am so sorry Kazuma, I had no idea.” You said, hugging him tighter.
He stiffened at hearing his first name coming from your lips and blushed harder.
“Why did you call me that?” he asked.
You smiled and continued to hug him.
“Because I wanted too, you have a problem with that?” you said.
Kuwabara heard the joking tone of your voice and grinned, resting his hands on top of your arms that were wrapped around his chest.
“As a matter a fact I do.” He said.
The two of you stayed like that for a moment, you with a full blown blush crossing your face, while Kuwabara sat there with a smile on his lips though a thoughtful look on his face.
“Could you just call me Kuwabara? I feel weird with you calling me by my first name.” Kuwabara said, breaking the silence.
You nodded in his neck.
“Sure.”
You enjoyed hugging him the way you did, smelling the cinnamon and sweat, a hint of mint in the mix; that was Kuwabara’s odor. You found out that the cinnamon smell was from Kuwabara’s shampoo and the mint from his body wash and deodorant. You wished you could stay like you were forever, but you knew that was wishful thinking on your part.
Kuwabara couldn’t help but get tingles at feeling your warm breath on his neck. He held your arms a little tighter, though not enough to hurt you or for you to notice. He was lost in the sensations your body warmth and the way you smelled flooded his senses. He found it harder to not like you more then just a friend, but he knew that he couldn’t let him self fall for you; the pain that it would cause not only him but you would be too much for him to bear. He took a deep breath, smelling your strawberry scented shampooed hair and with the mix of your vanilla body wash, just made it harder for him to let you go; wanting to take you in his arms and hold you.
However, reality snapped him back as a yawn escaped your mouth. You were tired from the lack of sleep, thought Kuwabara’s warmth didn’t help with your sleeping problem. If you continued to hug him like you were, you knew you would and could fall asleep just as you were; hugging Kuwabara.
“I’m going to see her tomorrow, Genkai. I’ll leave first thing in the morning. I’m sick of those ghosts causing me nightmares and junk! She’ll defiantly help me. She was the one that helped me and Shizuru control our spiritual awareness. She even helped us develop it, so she would have no problem helping me out with controlling them and keeping them away.” Kuwabara said, snapping you back before you could actually fall asleep.
Kuwabara took your arms and moved them so he was free of your hug. You sighed, not really wanting to let go, but knew you had to. You back up a bit to let him stand up. He took his plate and placed it in the sink.
“Well, if I’m going to leave early, might as well sleep early. Good night (Your__name) and thanks.” He said, as he headed towards the steps.
You looked at him, having not moved from your spot from behind Kuwabara’s chair.
“For what?”
Kuwabara stopped and turned to you with a smile.
“For just…being a great friend.” He said and with that turned back towards the steps and towards his room.
You felt something deep with in your stomach. It felt good to see him happy and even better that he called you his friend, yet something was missing. You felt empty, as if it wasn’t enough; nothing you did with Kuwabara was enough, and a void seemed to be in your heart.
You shook your head. You weren’t the type to ponder or worry about things that might be nothing important.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You stretched your arm, searching for the warmth you’d felt every single morning that week. When you didn’t find what you were searching for, you opened your eyes and sat up, looking around. You were wrapped in your Scooby-Doo blanket, and Kouga lying next to you; where Kuwabara should have been.

Normally you would be in your sleeping bag, however for the past week you ended up sleeping with Kuwabara. His spiritual awareness seemed to have grown stronger which even though it was a good thing was in turn bad for his sleep; his problems with spirit visitations being more frequent and much frightening. His cries would wake you from your sleep; which is a feat in it self at how deep you slept.

You would comfort him until he would fall asleep; though you wouldn’t be too far behind. Hence, you would wake up with your left hand in his hair and your right on his chest, your neck tucked under his chin. However, you would also find his left hand on top of yours, while his right arm wrapped around you pulling you close to his body in a protective manner.

After the first several times finding your selves in this position, you both would blush and move away from each other. It normally lead to an awkward silence that would only be broken by either you making a remark or Kuwabara saying something funny.

However, as the nightmares grew worse for Kuwabara and you kept ending up in Kuwabara’s bed, you found your self looking forward to the nights. You felt safe in his arms and seemed to sleep better knowing that nothing could harm you in those nice strong arms of his. Sure you were the one who were being the protector by comforting him from his ‘demons’ of the night, but it seemed that he was in turn protecting you from them as well.

You wrapped your blanket around you, as it was cold in his room from the spirits. You sat there on Kuwabara’s bed trying to figure out why he wasn’t sleeping next to you. It didn’t take you too long to remember the conversation you had the night before and how he decided to visit Genkai to help him out with his growing spiritual awareness.

You sat there taking in a deep breath and letting it. You were going to be by your self for the day, which was alright with you. Even though you enjoyed Kuwabara’s company and being with him almost every single minute of everyday; there was such a thing as “personal space’ or even better ‘(Your__name) time’. You hadn’t had a day to your self in a long while; even back at home you hadn’t had a day to your self in months.

At the thought of getting some personal time to your self, you seemed to be energized. You were happy that it was Saturday, since it was only a half a day at school meaning you really didn’t have to go in. You sat on the bed, still wrapped in your blanket, and subconsciously brought Kouga up into a hug. You were deep in thought, trying to figure out what you wanted to do that involved peace and quiet.

However, your brain reminded you of what was to come; the four saint beasts were soon and that meant you wouldn’t get a break until after the Dark Tournament, not to mention you didn’t know too much about the Chapter Black saga to know if you would even get another break. You had to get prepared, and even more so ready to fight. You had dreamed of helping out Yusuke and the rest of the gang in their missions and getting to defeat some demons and save the world.

With all of this in mind, you decided that the best way to spend your ‘personal day’ was to train your self, or really see how rusty you were. It had been a long time since you had fought, though the thugs you had beaten up, not too long ago didn’t count. You really needed to practice your singing fighting style, a style that you had developed while taking karate.
You found that you weren’t getting the kind of results you wanted when sparring against someone. After loosing a fight against a boy who was the same belt level as you, you had decided to step your game up a notch. You tried meditation, yoga, and even matched many Jackie Chan movies. Nothing you did, the traditional way that is helped develop your fighting skills. (Disclaimer on Jackie Chan and yoga)

It was your little brother who had helped you discover your technique. He couldn’t stand you singing, not that you didn’t have a good voice, nothing like that. He just didn’t want to hear his older sister singing “Simple and Clean” from Kingdom Hearts, twenty or more times. He barged into your room, where you were singing and dancing; however you weren’t really dancing but performing a few karate stances from that day’s lesson. You had your head phones on and when he came over to you, he accidentally got kicked in the stomach by a front kick. You had your eyes closed at the time and opened them to find your brother, who was not only taller then you but stronger then you, on the floor gasping for air. It was then that you discovered the power of your voice. (Disclaimer on "Simple and Clean" as well as Kingdom Hearts)

From then on, you would sing as you trained or even during a match. Your favorite way to train with while singing was with a staff, or bo; making it your weapon of choice other then a sword, but you still found the staff as an interesting and fun weapon to use.

As your thoughts wondered, you noticed the window was closed, making the room feel a bit stuffy.

‘It’s kind of stuffy in here. I’ll open the window, let some air in here.’ You thought.

You got off the bed and towards the sliding window, opening it. You closed your eyes and took in a deep refreshing breath, the nice spring breeze feeling nice against your face. You felt something else touch your face and opened your eyes to find Kuwabara’s curtains were also blowing in the wind along with your hair; though gently.

They were plain as curtains could be, being a extremely white color. An idea came to mind as you turned your head upwards towards the rod that held the curtains in place. You wrinkled your forehead in thought as your lips pursed together. A full blown grin came soon afterwards as you turned to climb on top of the bed, which was just close enough to the window to just touch the top of the window where the rod was.

Your brain wasn’t really thinking, as you reached towards the curtains, standing on your tip toes as you reached for the rod. As soon as you grabbed the rod, both of your feet slipped off the bed. Your eyes widened as you gave a surprised yelp, grabbing on to the rod as a automatic reaction. However, the rod wasn’t bolted into the wall and you fell, head first to the ground, rod still in hand.

You gave a muffled ‘ow’ as you lay on the ground with your toes still on the edge of the bed, the rod in your hands in front of you, and your head and upper part of your body flat on the floor. You shook your head as you sat on your knees, placing your hand to the back of your head.

‘Well I’m not doing that again. If Kuwabara wants them back up he can do it him self.’ You thought, standing up with the rod in your right hand.

You looked at the rod, which still held the curtains. You found the rod to be a decent length and slid off the curtain. It looked to be three feet long. You spun it in your hands, making a nice swishing sound as your spun it in your right hand; having it stop under your left arm pit. A grin crossed your lips. It had been a long time since you trained with a staff like object; last time you had used a broom and that was a few months earlier back at home.

Your smile escaped your lips and you closed your eyes, taking a moment to remember your mother, your two best friends, and even your little annoying brother. You missed them, all of them. You wondered if they missed you, did they even know you were gone, and how long have you been away back in your reality? You have thought these and many more questions over a hundred times before, and each time your heart seemed to tighten a bit more.

You shook your head before opening your eyes. You didn’t want to think about it, knowing that you had better things to worry about, such as training.

“Now, what song should I sing?” you thought aloud to your self.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been several days since Hiei was defeated by that rookie detective of Spirit World, Yusuke Urameshi. He had escaped being captured, waking up alone in the warehouse. Apparently, the officers of Spirit World thought he would be out longer then he had.
‘Hn, bakas. They should have arrested me when they had the chance. No matter, I won’t let them have another.’ Hiei thought as he continued his way towards Kurama’s house.
He had been greatly injured by the rookie detective, but nothing a few days of rest couldn’t take care of. Now with his injuries healed, he headed towards the one who had cost him the fight; Kurama. If the fox hadn’t thrown his blood into Hiei’s Jagan, he would have had the city under his control, not to mention a dead Spirit Detective.
As Hiei moved from tree top to tree top, he couldn’t help but hear something. It was something pleasant to his ears and it was coming from one of the houses.
‘I should see what that is. Kurama’s wouldn’t be stupid enough to turn himself in before talking to me first. I’ve known him long enough to know that much. He’ll have to wait.’
Hiei jumped on the tree branch that was closest to the open window, where the beautiful and enchanting sound was coming from. He looked in and was amazed at what he saw. A girl, who was his height, was displaying an excellent skill with a rod, using it as if it were a staff. She was singing as she was moving. He became intrigued by her movements and her voice. He just sat on the branch and watched as she practiced.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You smirked as the perfect song came to your mind and began to sing as you started to train.

(Disclaimer: I do not own or have rights to or making a profit from the Yu Yu Hakusho Opening theme song; the producers, singer, and everyone else who was involved in making this song has claim on it.)

-------singing begins---------

Going in a crowd, in a faceless town (jab, block, kick)

I need to feel the touch of a friend (turn, jab, duck, and jump)

In the country side, I wander far and wide (block, sweep leg)

The isolation gets me again (double jab with pole and kick)

I don’t know where to go (move to the right and turn)

When I feel like crying oh my (low strike with pole)

It’s time to open my self, do something new (side kick and then round house kick)

I want to stop and grow up again (block and then jab with pole)

Then suddenly, my power and confidence, that swelling up magically erupt (backwards flip and kick, and then a block with the pole)

And it’s all because of the kindness that I feel (spinning back kick and then a lung forward with pole)

From people I don’t even know (spin and block with pole)

Then suddenly, my intuition and my wisdom grow, and then I know (front kick, jab, block, and spin)

But most of all a sense of compassion feeling from strangers where ever I go (jab, block, kick, and jump kick)

Thank you for waking me up. (Jab and pose)

-------Singing ends-------

You stood there, a little out of breath. It had been a while since you had practiced, so it was no wonder you were out of breath and a bit thirsty. You held the rod under your left arm pit as you wiped away the small amount of sweat that formed on your forehead. You started towards the door, going to get a drink and cool down a bit.

“Not bad for a human woman.”

You stopped. That voice sounded familiar to you, though you couldn’t seem to place where. It was at this time you sensed a dangerously strong, yet tortured aura coming from you. You turned and had your eyes widen in surprise to find a black blur coming straight at you. You didn’t have time to think as you raised the rod from under your arm pit to just block a strike that would have taken your head off, if the sword was not sheathed. You struggled to hold back the katanna with your rod. It was then that you noticed who your attacker was and gasped.

‘Hiei? But…how? I thought he was captured already by Yusuke?’ you thought.

He was the same size as you, maybe a bit taller with his hair, but you were eye to eye with him, able to see is piercing red eyes.

‘Man everything is bigger here, I thought Hiei was much shorter then this.’ You thought.

‘What?’ you thought as you noticed your rod hadn’t been sliced through by Hiei’s katanna, but he was using it still sheathed. ‘It seems he doesn’t want to hurt me, at least, but wants to spar! This is so awesome! I’m actually sparing with Hiei! My second favorite character! Oh my God, this rocks!’ You thought.

You would have grinned at this, if you weren’t struggling with holding back Hiei. He didn’t even seem to be breaking a sweat as he held you back. He smirked at you as he used a little more of his strength to push you back a bit.

You grunted as you held your ground; never having too much arm strength. You knew if you didn’t do something soon, you would easily be beaten. With that thought, you swung your leg, trying to knock him off his feet. He jumped back, causing you to stumble a bit, from the force you were using to hold Hiei’s attack back with.

Hiei rushed at you again, his sheathed Katanna coming at you again. You pared his attack towards your head, and took a step backwards. He lunged forward, but you blocked again with your rod. He continued to come at you, causing you to move backwards, still blocking his attacks.
You knew that if you continued the way you were, you would end up being backed into the wall. You had to take the offensive. As Hiei went for another lunge, instead of blocking you did a turn to the left. Hiei stood there for a second, before turning to find your rod coming to his head. He brought his sword up to block. You brought the rod back before lunging. Hiei seemed to vanish before your eyes, as the rod went through his after image. You stumbled a bit and straightened your self up, trying to pin point him as he began to move all around you.

You watched as his after image appeared around you. You stood there, rod gripped in your hand as you waited for Hiei to make his attack. Your eyes widened as he came behind you. You ducked and did a low spinning sweep. Hiei was caught off guard and lost his footing, though he was still on his feet, having taken a step to the side. He looked down just in time to see you standing up, your rod in both hands, ready to jab into his gut.

Hiei jumped back, away from the attack, leaving you standing there a bit out of breath. The two of you had a moment of a stare down, Hiei beginning to look a bit aggravated.

‘How the hell, can two human’s keep up with my attacks and speed?!’ Hiei growled in his mind.

He growled and can towards you, un-sheathing his sword. Your eyes widened, finding that Hiei was getting serious. You yelped and jumped back as he slashed his sword downwards. If you didn’t move, you would have had a nice long slash from your right shoulder to your left side!
He jumped towards you again, clanking and sparking flying as his sword clashed with your metal rod. You held your ground as the two of you were locked in another struggle with your weapons, your faces close together; close enough to touch noses. You closed your eyes and grunted as you pushed forward; giving you enough space and time to do a spinning back kick; though Hiei vanished again.

You gasped as he was at your side, ready to slice you; however in another automatic move, you grabbed his right arm with your left hand, shocking the fire demon. Before he could do anything, you pulled him, taking a step backwards and with the rod brought it up towards his neck, while your left leg, which had taken the step backwards, moved behind his legs as you pushed him to the floor, pinning him.

Hiei looked up at you shocked, as you looked down at him equally shocked. However, you didn’t have enough time to celebrate, as he grabbed your arm with his free hand and flipped you over, causing you to let go of the hand that had his katanna; pinning you to the ground with his katanna at your throat. You gulped as he looked down at you with a smirk on his lips.

Before anything else could happen you gripped the rod in your hand and swung it forward, hitting Hiei’s katanna. In surprise, Hiei let go of his katanna, sending it flying into the opposite side of the room, landing in Kuwabara’s wall, just missing a poster of Megalica; Kuwabara’s favorite band. (Megalica is the spin off of Metalica so Disclaimer on both; the author of Yu Yu Hakusho owns Megalica, and Metalica owns their name)

Your eyes widened as all your blood seemed to leave your body.

“OH SHIT! I AM SO DEAD!” you shouted as with strength you didn’t even know you had; shoved a surprise Hiei off and ran towards the new addition to Kuwabara’s room.

“Kuwabara’s gonna kill me!”

You pulled at your hair, completely forgetting about the fire demon who was watching you with an aggravated expression on his face.

“Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! Crap! What am I going to do! He’s probably coming home tonight! What am I going to do! Think, think, think, think, think, ow!” you said, having hit your self with the rod on every ‘think’; the last one being a bit too hard.

Hiei was off to the side, watching. At first he looked on in shock.

‘How dare this human walk away and ignore me.’ He thought.

However, he smirked as he watched you ‘think’ too hard on your head. He raised an eyebrow when a smile appeared on your face soon after that last ‘think’.

“That’s it!” you shouted, that last hit seeming to give you an idea.

Hiei watched you with a sweat drop. You had seemed to have forgotten he was still in the room and even more aggravating, you ran out of the room, leaving Kuwabara’s door wide open.

He sighed and took his sword out of the wall. He sheathed it as he walked towards the window to leave. Before he left, he gave one last look into the room and made a half smile half smirk, but it only appeared for a few seconds before he left.
