A little boy lost in the streets.
Kazuma hesitantly walked passed the shops, pausing only to
look inside them. His short red hair was matted with mud from his fall
earlier. His mother had left him alone in an unfamiliar place. Eager
black onyx eyes peered into the clothing shop where he was abandoned
this morning, hoping with all his heart to see his mother beautiful
face once again.
A growl from the boy's stomach signaled to him that it was
past his dinnertime. His clothes were wet from the rain, shoes almost
encased in mud. Growing drowsy, he lumbered into an alley, trying to
escape the pouring rains. As he was dragging his weary feet along, he
stubbed his toe onto a rock causing him to fall. No one heard his
pitiful howl of pain. On his knee and shin were nasty abrasions. Blood
began to gather. The rain washed away the mud in a bloody stream.
Nobody came to his aid. Sobbing his fears back, his blood-shot eyes
looked forlornly at the terrace of shops wondering where his mother
was.
"Mother, where are you?" the six-year old boy whimpered
shortly before falling asleep near a rubbish dump, exhausted from the
day.
Kazuya woke up the next day feeling something cuddled near
him. That something had wet scraggly fur which part of it was plastered
to his legs. He opened his eyes and tried to take the mewling thing off
his chest. He was unsure in this part of the time. The fact that the
cat was also shivering visibly worried him.
A soft meow from the brown stained white cat, brought Kazuma to
his feet hugging the small cat tight to his chest. It looked up with
wistful eyes to the person that held him with such warmth and care. The
boy looked down with determined eyes and said, "Ne, chibi-neko, let's
find mom, Ok?"
The boy and his cat walked down the alley, to face the world
again with strong confidence in his eyes and heart. A police car drove
past him and abruptly stopped with the screeching of the brakes. A man
exited the car and approached him. The big man in blue asked him whether
his name was Kuwabara Kazuma.
"Yes, sir. I am Kuwabara Kazuma," Kazuma answered in a small
scared voice.
The man gave a sigh of relief, his eyes dancing with happiness.
"Finally, we found you! Your mother was really frantic when she couldn't
find you. Come, let me escort you to the Police Post."
Kazuma was feeling really happy that he could find his mother
again. He smiled, all weariness was forgotten, all wounds healed. he
complied with the officer andentered the Police car. The cat followed
him in the car. Smiling towards the cat, he picked it up and held it
close to him. The door closed and they were off to the Police Post.
"Thank you Eikichi. You have made my day a lot better." Kazuma
said as he hugged the mewling feline.
