Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ A New Character ❯ A little Fun in School ( Chapter 8 )
*Sorry, guys. It took a little longer than usual. I happened to have been in the middle of moving and the internet connection was cut off. And cleaning my room for moving isn't the happiest thing I can think of. All the junk that I don't really need around everywhere. I have cramps from trying to reach things that aren't reachable. Well, what else do I want to say? Hmmmm…how bout…HEY! NO ONE'S REVIEWING! Come on! An author needs some sort of inspiration here! Review! Review, review, review!!!! No reviews mean more cliffhangers! Now on with they story…
Chapter 5
I walked to the door and opened it to reveal… "Yusuke! What are you doing here!?!?!" I wasn't exactly surprised, just faking it. I could feel his presence from a mile away. I put up a cheery smile, but I didn't feel so cheery. I, however, did feel unsure and a little worried; maybe Yusuke was still mad at me?
"It's Friday you idiot! School! You always forget!" Yusuke exclaimed.
"And that's coming from someone who's always late and skipping classes too. Alright, alright. Gimme a min. I'll go get ready." I opened the door wider letting him in and leading him to the living room and picking up my package on the way. "Oh! And Yusuke?"
"Yea?"
"Be careful, Ami's gotten a tad bit bigger since the last time you saw her."
I climbed the stairs to my room opening the package on the way, instantly gasping when I saw what was in the package. Not just my uniform, but a beautiful new dagger made of silver and a letter from Nia! Changing and strapping the dagger on my arm just under the jacket sleeve of my uniform for easy access, I grabbed my backpack and letter and ran down to Yusuke.
The sight I came upon entering the living room made me burst out with laughter. Ami was in her curious state and highly amused with Yusuke's reaction. She was growling lowly, almost a purr, and was slowly advancing on Yusuke who was behind the couch and against the wall.
"Ami!" I called, still laughing.
She turned her head in my direction and walked towards me with her I-am-the-superior-being-in-this-room attitude. I rubbed her head making her purr and brush against me. "He is so scared of me," She laughed.
"Did you talk to him?" I asked her mentally.
"No, of course not! I'm not irresponsible," she hmphed in my direction.
"Ami…I'm leaving for school now, be good," I warned before motioning Yusuke to follow me as I left my house and having to actually lock it with my key this time.
"I thought Ami was a very big cat, not a tiger," Yusuke said to me.
"Well, Ami is a very big cat, a very big housecat who happens to be a tiger," I laughed nervously, scratching the back of my head slightly. "Oh! I forgot!" It suddenly hit me that I still haven't read the letter from Nia yet.
"What? Did you forget your lunch or something?"
"No, I don't need lunch. I got this letter from Nia!"
"Oh yea, you don't live with her anymore."
"Right…It says...:
Dearest Tori,
I'm sorry I couldn't actually come and visit, but I heard you were transferring schools, so I sent you the uniform myself and that dagger. I know you'll love it. I can't believe that I just happened to have come upon a Shifting Dagger whiling looking around an antique shop! You know how to use a Shifting Dagger don't you? Well, Shifting Daggers just change into any weapon or anything you can imagine. Wonderful and convenient. I hope you're doing okay. I'll try to come visit later.
Lovingly,
Nia
Oh! Nia has out done herself this time! A Shifting Dagger! Wow! Finally! I've always wanted one! It's a fighter's dream to have a Shifting Dagger!" I was so excited I could hardly contain myself.
"Uh, right." Yusuke didn't seem so excited; I suppose he was just confused or speechless.
"Sorry, Am I scaring you?"
"Yes you are."
"Okay, I'll stop."
An uncomfortable silence fell over us as we walked to school. I still felt that Yusuke was uneasy about finding out that I was an angel and was only doing this because he was suspicious. I want to say something, anything. Yusuke and I used to have so much fun together. There was never a time when we were quiet. We were either laughing or playing around. I have to say something.
"Ano Tori…" "Ano Yusuke…" we said in unison. "Oh, you go first," "You go first," we said once again at the same time.
"Oh what ever!" I said. "I'll go first! I'm sorry."
"What?" Yusuke seem surprised at the sudden apology.
"You heard me. I'm sorry for not telling you that I was a fallen, but it's an experience I don't want to relive."
"Yeah, I understand. Sorry for blowin' up in your face like that."
"I didn't expect you wouldn't. Okay! No more apologies and sad expressions! Let's hurry! We gotta get to school!" I exclaimed.
"Since when were you excited about going to school?"
"Never, but I heard that Keiko went to the same school too! I haven't seen her in a while either! Not to mention that Kuwabara is there. I want to pick on him."
"Now you sound more like the Tori I know," Yusuke laughed.
*~*~*~*
"Tori! Tori wake up!" I woke up to the sound of Keiko's voice hissing at me and a hard wood desk under me. Wait! Keiko!?!?! Oh yeah! That's right, we, Yusuke and I, met Keiko on the way to school. She squeezed me so tight at our reunion that I couldn't even breathe. She's a pretty strong human, no wonder why Yusuke is scared of her getting mad. Well, back to me.
"Miss Hana!" the teacher yelled at me and bonked me over the head with the eraser he threw at my head. "Class is in session! Since you think this class isn't as important as your beauty sleep, then why don't you do this problem on the board for everyone to see?" Nope, the teacher ain't going to cut me any slack because I'm the new kid.
Oh, looks like a difficult problem…for a human at this age, but I happened to have lived for four hundred ninety-nine years. One doesn't live for that long and not learn anything. I took my time. Getting up slowly, walking to the board slowly with my hands in my pocket, and my eyes straight ahead. I looked directly in the teacher's eyes. It happens to unnerve him, many people are uneasy when I look them in the eye. I think it's because my eyes are an interesting shade of green? That's what Nia told me anyway. I often get caught by the teachers telling me to take off my contacts and re-dye my hair to a normal color like everyone else. Oh, my hair is silver. Such a nice color don't you think? Well, I had to get Nia on the phone and everything to get them to know that it's absolutely natural. That's the thing with angels, our hair and eyes are what the humans call "unnatural", "abnormal", or just plain freaky. Getting off topic again!
I keep my calm and cool exterior, I look cold and emotionless. I pick up the piece of chock and start to write on the board, my movements slow, graceful, and easy. I never paused and continuously wrote on the board, showing every little detail and came to a stop. Done! I started to walk to my seat, but not until pausing for just a moment and looked straight in the teacher's eyes, I definitely sent shivers down his spine. I inwardly laugh in satisfaction. The teachers face is in shock and he was absolutely speechless. Lucky for him that the bell rang and he didn't assign any homework! I think my classmates are going to thank me for this one.
"Oh, wow! Tori that was amazing! It was such a hard problem and the teacher only taught the lesson today. How did you do it?" Keiko asked me in awe. I think she just set her eyes on me as her study buddy. Oh, dear lord!
"Hey! Tori, can you show me how you did that?" "Tori, can I borrow your notes?" "Tori, can you help me with my homework?" "Tori, are you looking for a job? Mind tutoring me?" A bunch of classmates crowded around me. Oh, lordly, lordly, lordly. What have I gotten myself into?
"Hey that's enough! You can talk to her later!" I heard Yusuke's voice through the many of other students. "Hey, what's going on? Did you use your brainiac act again?" Yusuke asked me directly when everyone had cleared away.
"It wasn't an act!" I snapped. "I know how to do this stuff! You don't live as long as I do and know nothing. Oops…I shouldn't have said that…" Keiko was listening intently and I was crowded by classmates. I wasn't afraid of everyone finding out I was a fallen angel, but more of them thinking that I'm too good and smart for them and then start giving me trouble like playing dirty pranks on me. I remember the last school that I did that at. I had to send someone to the hospital so that I could get expelled to stop the pranks!
"How bout we go outside?" Yusuke asked.
"Yes, that's a good idea. Lead the way!" I got up quickly and followed Yusuke, who was also dragging along Keiko, who I suspect knows about Reikai. We ended up on the roof. My most favorite part of the school. It was clean up here too.
"Um, Yusuke? Does Keiko happen to know?" I asked
"Which part? You or Reikai?" he answered
"Uh, let's go with both."
"She knows about Reikai, but she's still totally clueless about you."
"Tori, what's Yusuke talking about?" Keiko cut in.
"Oh, it's nothing big." I answered. I really wasn't sure how I would break this to Keiko. I did a bad enough job at revealing this to Yusuke and his friends.
"Nothing big my ass." Yusuke just had to make a little comment.
"Tori?" Keiko questioned.
"Arg! Fine! I'm a four hundred ninety-nine in human years and happen to be a fallen angel."
"Oh, okay." Keiko said.
"That's it? Just an "oh, okay"?" I questioned. Usually humans don't take these things very well, Yusuke would be an example.
"Well, with all the things I've seen in Reikai and the Makai, I'm not so surprised." Keiko answered me.
"Ah, I see…" I'm kind of speechless at this point.
Keiko stood up and brushed of the imaginary dust on her skirt and said, "I'll be right back. I'm going to buy some lunch."
"Hey, Keiko! Can I borrow some money?" Yusuke cut in.
"No, every time I lend you some money you never pay me back!" exclaimed Keiko.
"Aw, come on! Please? Can I have some of your lunch then?"
"Fine, but you really should get your own lunch…" The couple's voices faded away as they went down the stairs to buy their lunch. I lay on the roof looking up at the sky and started to daydream. I remembered all the fun times with Keiko and Yusuke. Playing in the sandbox at the park when we were six years old. Running away and fighting off bullies when we were ten years old. Yusuke and I making our selves the top dog while Keiko would scold us when we were thirteen years old. And then at the end of the year I transferred schools, Keiko cried to no end and Yusuke just kind of sulked.
"Is that a real smile? I don't see you having those on your face often," a familiar voice said to me.
I lay there still with my arms behind my head and my eyes closed. I knew exactly who it was. "Yes, it's a real smile-…"
*MUAHAHAHA!!! Another cliffhanger! Your fault for not reviewing! Heeheehee. Soooooo, who do you think the mystery person is? Maybe it's Kurama? Or maybe Koenma? Muahahaha!!! No one knows! Except me! And I'm not telling! Just have to wait for the next chapter! ^_^
