"Thunder!!!! DRAGON!!!" By the time Makoto had landed on the ground, her enemies were no more than mere corpses. Looking over the two cat demons and three ogres, she laughed maniacally at how unrecognizably ugly they were. Serves them all right: demons were a disgusting race and needed to be exterminated. Turning her attention to the sole survivor, she narrowed her eyes. "You can tell your Master I have no desire to be with him."

The demon glared at her with contempt. "You belong to him! You are his mate!!"

"Fool!" Makoto bellowed. "I was going to let you live, but your reminding of that beast's connection to me has guaranteed your death!" She picked him up by the collar and snapped his neck. "Goodbye." Chuckling again, Makoto dropped the body and pillaged it, as well as the others, for anything of value. Hey, a girl's gotta make some money to live, doesn't she? "Now all I have to do is trade this in for some dough and I'll be set for another two months. Heh, stupid guy spends too much money on hiring demons to come after me. Has he really gotten that stupid?" Musing over certain subjects, she stuffed her findings -three rubies, two emeralds, and six gold medallions - into a sack and walked on her merry way to the next town. She had heard about a bounty that had been placed on the four monsters living there and wanted to check it out. What were there names again? Oh yeah: the Four Saint Beasts. Oh well, if they were cocky enough to call themselves saints, they must be pretty strong. And she knew what that meant: strong monsters mean big bounties. //I could use some extra cash// Picking up her sack, the demon-hater ran at full speed towards the town, making it well within two hours.

Yusuke looked at Hiei strangely, Kuwabara being the one to voice what he'd been thinking.

"I thought for sure he'd say `Well of course you fool.' " He put his hand over his eyes and stared at `Shorty'.

Kurama chuckled. "It's seems Hiei is undergoing a tricky change; I believe he is beginning to like you."

Yusuke thought over the information and just continued on his way. They still had one more beast to fight before they could go home, and he didn't have a particularly good feeling about this one.

Kicking the rubble she assumed was Genbu of the Four Saint Beasts, Makoto drew her broadsword and raised her guard. Someone had already been here, but telling by the fresh blood found on the rocks, they had only defeated Genbu recently. They still might be here. Oh shit. When she wanted to fight, someone already came and killed the prey. Go figure. Stepping carefully, she made her way through the room and up the stairs, finding her path to be a destroyed one. Makoto narrowed her eyes. They just had to make it that much harder for her, didn't they? As she sat her pack down, a bone-chilling scream reached her ears. Quickly covering them, she looked for the source. It had come from a high tower. So…the other Bounty Hunter's were still here. She might as well see if they were human. If so, she'd do what she always did - help them out. But,… if they were demons… she'd kill them. Makoto finished tying the rope she had to her broadsword and threw it across the gap as hard as she could, lodging it in the tower that was roughly 100 feet away. Score! It held strong enough to support her weight; holding the rope in one hand and her pack in the other, she swung across the open space and landed on the other side of the rocky ravine. Now all she had to do is go through the rest of the castle and she'd be set. Makoto picked out her black-hilted sword and set the rope in her sack, running full-speed into the building.

Kurama were Hiei running after Kuwabara to their fallen teammate when their path was blocked by a broadsword. Hiei hned and reached to pull it out, but found that it was firmly stuck into the solid stone floor.

Surprise was clearly evident on both of the demon's face when the owner, a tall female, jumped in front of them and easily pulled it out. She turned her head of brown curls towards them, flipping her knee-length ponytail over her shoulder as she glared at them with piercing green eyes. "Don't go anywhere near that human, you disgusting demons."

The comment struck Kurama as odd, for as far as he could tell she herself was a demon. "Excuse me Miss, but unless I'm mistaken you are a youkai too." He blinked at her angered face, but shrugged it off. "Why do you not want us to help our teammate?"

"Teammate?" She spat on the ground. "Demons and humans cannot be allies, but I'm more concerned for this ningen's health than the validity of your membership to his team at the moment, excuse me." She walked to the boy who lay on the ground and her expression softened. "He used his life energy in that last attack, he's almost dead." She spoke softly to his friend, the orange-haired human. "What's his name?"

"Yusuke Urameshi. And mine is Kazuma Kuwabara. Can you help him? He can't die! He's already done it once, he can't leave this world unless I'm the one killing him!" Kuwabara blinked the tears away from his eyes and watched the girl as she placed her hands over his friend's chest and closed her eyes in concentration, a green light engulfing her and Urameshi.

When she was done, Makoto stood up, slightly dizzy from the loss of her life energy. "I've given him enough to live, but he'll still need to rest for at least two weeks. Please take care of him." She sheathed her sword and walked to the exit, only to find her path blocked by the two demons. "Do you want to die? The reason I didn't kill you on sight was because the ningen needed my help. Move. Now."

"Hn." Hiei glared at her. She was asking for a fight. "I doubt you could kill us. Do you know who we are?"

"Yes. You are disgusting monsters who are in my way and if you provoke me, I WILL slaughter you."

//She seems confidant.// Kurama stared at the girl in front of him, then stepped aside. Something in her eyes told him not to press her. Their team was hurt and she might be powerful enough to slaughter them all. It was a chance he did not want to take. He placed a hand on his friend's shoulder and spoke in meaningful tones. "We should let her pass. It is not the time for fighting. Also, Yusuke's life hangs by a thread and we should not be the shears to cut it."

Giving a last glare to the girl, he stepped aside and allowed her to pass. Stupid females.

Koenma sighed and leaned bacl in his chair, thankful that the Rescue Yukina mission was finally over. He was seriously worried that Hiei was going to kill the humans and boy would he have trouble then. "That's that. Now I don't have to worry so much."

His relaxation was interrupted by his assistant shoving a stck of papers in front of his face. "Lord Koenma Sir! There's been another demon assassination!"

Ah how we speak too soon. "What is it ogre?"

George sweatdropped. His boss really was dense at times. "The demon who has been killing other youkai has gone from simple assasinations to mass slaughtering! We're talking 10 to 20 at one time!"

Scanning over the papers, Koenma rested his eyes on an image. It was a picture of about 13 youkai, each one beheaded and dismembered. The tiny ruler closed his eyes and them opened them quickly. "Ogre, do you have any information on the killer?"

"Yes sir, our spies tell us that it's a female demon with incredible strength and powers unusual to most apparitions. We have yet to figure out her exact origins, though."

"Well that's too bad. Forward this information to Botan and have her assist the Spirit Detectives in the capture. Tell them to use any means necessary to defeat her."

"Yessir." George hurried away to page the ferry girl on their new case. He had failed to mention to his boss that out of the twenty something spies sent, one had returned; he could only pray that the detective group would pull through.

"And he said that only one of them returned - Are you listening to me Yusuke?" Botan frowned at her partner and put her hands on her hips. "This is serious you know. She's killed over 300 demons within 6 months! She's extremely powerful and has powers unnormal to most youkai! She could very well kill you all!"

"Are you insinuating that I cannot hold my own?" Hiei spoke in icicles to the guide. "I myself have defeated more foes. Besides, you are forgetting that our team, though it has a handicap, consists of two very powerful fighters."

"Oh, please forgive Lord Hiei." Botan rolled her eyes and looked to Kurama. "Have you heard of her? We haven't been able to find out about her origins, but she appeared on the sceen a few months ago by murdering a major Makai businessman."

The red haired demon politely shook his head no. "I'm sorry, but I have not."

"Of course he hasn't," Yusuke linked an arm around kurama's neck. "You haven't even told us her name."

"She has, you twit." Hiei rolled his eyes at the human's stupidity. "You apparantly weren't listening."

"Well…what is it?"

Botan shook her haed and sighed. "Her name, is Makoto."
