“You called?” Yusuke said as he and the other spirit detectives
entered Koenma's office.

“I think I'm going to die of a heart attack you're all on time”
Koenma said as he rifled through papers then he let out a little chuckle “and of course I'm not quite ready for you.”

“Oh, great” Yusuke said to the others as they took seats in
front of the toddler to wait for him.

“We don't mind waiting Koenma take your time” Kurama said
politely. The guys talked among themselves as the toddler continued to rifle through endless stacks of papers. Their attention was then caught by George; he was running around the office dusting and scrubbing anything that was remotely unclean. Every once in a while he would shoot a glare at Koenma.

“Don't mind him” Koenma said not even looking up from what he
was reading. “He's been like this all day. He's cleaned that one spot at least ten times.” At that Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Kurama raised an eyebrow, Hiei just did his usual `hn.'

Finally, after several more minutes and Kuwabara having his life
threatened by George for having mud on his shoes, Koenma looked up and
said “I have a very special mission for all of you. Before I tell you all the details I would like to know if any of you have heard of the Ancients.”

“The Ancients were a species of humanoids that lived many
thousands of years ago on Earth. They acted as the protectors of humans against demons. Of course this started a war that lasted for hundreds of years in which the Ancients were eventually wiped out.” Kurama said calmly.

The others just looked at Kurama as if their brains had just
exploded. “Yes that is correct, but there's more to the story….a lot
more” Koenma said as his eyes locked on George who was cleaning a spot of his desk, he just rolled his eyes and continued talking. “There is a legend that takes place during the very last battle when the demon lords attacked the capital city of the Ancients. The King of the Ancients was afraid that his people would be destroyed, which of course was what happened, but that's not the point. He ordered that four individuals of his choosing would be frozen to await a time when they could repopulate the Earth and continue to protect human kind. He chose two men and two women, a healer, a warrior, a priest, and a lord. The res--”

“So, the legend is real.” Kuwabara said staring wide eyed like a
child listening to a bed time story at the toddler he had just cut off.

“Yes, Kuwabara the legend is true. As I was saying the resting
places of these individuals have remained a guarded secret for centuries unt--”

“Until now right, you want us to get these Popsicle people back
before they are awoken or some demon destroys them. Got it, so where do
we start.” Yusuke cut in looking smug at his own brilliance.

Koenma looked at Yusuke with annoyance, “No Yusuke that is not
your mission now let me finish.” Koenma said while he enjoyed watching the smug look wash off of Yusuke's face. “It was a secret till fifteen years ago, when an archeological team stumbled upon the battle field. We worked quickly at erasing their memories but not quickly enough, information leaked to the Makai. Regretfully, one of the individuals was taken by demons and destroyed; it was one of the men.” Koenma paused as George lifted him up to make sure he was not dirty. “Put me down and will you please stop cleaning. For the last time George they do not care if this office is clean!”

“Yeah George, we don't care. You should see my room” Yusuke piped
in. George just glared at Koenma and stalked out of the room. Koenma shook his head then continued.

“Because of this tragic event, my father decided
that the best course of action was to awaken the ancients. They have been living among us for fifteen years now but another tragic event happened when they were awoken. The other man, Akanu, had gained consciousness almost a hundred years before we thawed him out. Being awake in a frozen state drove him insane as it would anyone. He got away from us and ended up in the Makai where he gained followers. Now he has an army which he plans on using against humans. This leads me to your mission.”

“It's about time, infant.” Hiei snarled. Koenma narrowed his eyes but let the remark slid.

“Why does he want to use this army against humans, if the Ancients were once the protectors of humans?” Kuwabara said looking very confused.
“He must blame humans for his misery, since that is why he was
frozen.” Kurama said rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

“Exactly Kurama, your mission is to track him down and……….kill
him.”
“But Koenma what about the legend” Kuwabara said jumping to his
feet.

“It was not an easy decision to make but it is the only way.”
Koenma looked down at his desk.
“I have a question.” Yusuke said “What happened to the two women
that were frozen?”

“Oh yes.” Koenma came out of his thoughts “They have worked for me since their awakening as my American Spirit Detectives. They will be
accompanying you on this mission, I am sure you find their knowledge
irreplaceable.” At that Koenma pushed a blue button on his desk “Botan
you can let the girls in now”. George then came running in from a side door to stand at attention next to Koenma's desk. The guys now had an idea as to why George was acting so strange.

“George do you have a crush on one of these girls?” Yusuke
asked smirking slyly. George just blushed and looked away. Koenma once again rolled his eyes. Botan then entered the room….alone.

Koenma lost his temper “WHERE ARE THEY!!!” Botan bit her lip to
suppress a giggle as she watched Koenma's hat float above his head.

“Aww calm down Koenma-poo!” came a cooing disembodied voice then
the toddler's cheek was stretched as if someone was pinching it.
Koenma went red from frustration “Please take a seat Sitara” he growled
“You, too, Liluye and give me back my hat.”

“I don't have your hat.” came a purring disembodied voice. Botan
couldn't help but giggle out loud, she enjoyed every time the girls
came by because they were notorious for giving Koenma hell. George enjoyed their visits too not just because they gave Koenma such a bad time but because they gave him attention too. “Hey George how's the toddler been treating you?” came the second voice.

“Not bad, Liluye” George then turned bright red and got a very
goofy smile.

“Glad to hear it, big guy” said the voice belonging to Sitara.
Koenma's temper was reaching boiling point he was frustrated about this mission and being cut off during his lecture and now having to deal with antiques of two young women was not helping. “Will you PLEASE take
a seat!” Koenma said in a threatening tone. Liluye and Sitara decided provoking Koenma any more was a bad idea so they took the two empty seats beside the men.

Koenma's eye twitched “I still can not see you!” Sitara and Liluye became visible simultaneously, revealing two
young women about the age of twenty. The girl named Sitara had pale cream skin with freckles on her cheeks. Her hair was a deep vivid red that lay in waves down to her shoulder blades. Her eyes put Kurama's to shame; they were an almost blinding green. She was dressed in a lacy light teal tank top and a khaki pant with teal sparkly high heals. Liluye was slightly darker then Sitara but still had a creamy complexion. Her silvery white hair fell straight to her rear and most of her face was hidden behind thick shaggy bangs. Her eyes from what the guys could see were a dark forest green. She wore a black tank and jeans with green tennis shoes.

“That's better.” Koenma said gaining his composer. “Gentlemen may I introduce to you Liluye and Sitara, they are the ancients I spoke of earlier. I have already debriefed them on the mission which means you may leave at once. They know the way to find Akanu, now go.” Koenma said waving them from the office.

Yusuke leaned forward to look across at the girls, who got up and without a word walked out of the room. Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Kurama
looked at each other.

“Well I guess we better get going then.” Kuwabara said and went to catch up with the strange girls. Out in the hall the guys found the
girls waiting for them.

“Tonight you will pack your bags and say goodbye to whom ever you need to. In the morning you will meet us at Master Genkai's, which is where we are staying.” Liluye stated in a solid almost commanding tone.

“I don't take orders, frosty.” Hiei said glaring at the girls,
Liluye glared back.

“Hiei lets not cause problems so early in the mission.” Kurama said looking at Hiei, then he turned his attention to the girls “however; I am afraid I must agree with him. We don't take orders from anyone but Koenma; we are a team.”

Sitara put a hand on Liluye's shoulder to calm her, “Liluye and I were merely trying to give you some time to get things together before we set off.” Sitara said sweetly.

“We will be gone for several weeks so prepare accordingly.” Liluye stated and walked off without another word.

Sitara just sighed running to catch up with her friend “sorry, we will see you tomorrow.” she said as she waved still running after Liluye.

“Well I guess we have stuff to do then” Yusuke said scratching his head.

“Is it me or is that Liluye seem a little bossy?” Kuwabara asked as
they started back to the Ningenkai.

“Yea she did, but she was nice to George.” Yusuke replied.

“She probably doesn't like the mission after all we are going to
kill one her own.” Kurama said thoughtfully.

“But Sitara seemed cheerful enough.” Kuwabara said still confused.

************************************************************* **********
“Liluye, wait up already!” Sitara yelled, finally catching up
with Liluye who had slowed her pace.

“Sorry about how I acted back there, Sitara, but I still feel
they shouldn't have a part in this. Akanu is our problem and we can deal with him. It's just…..” Liluye hesitated and looked down at the ground sadly.

Again, Sitara put her hand on her friends shoulder “I know,
Liluye. I can't imagine how you feel right now. Akanu was a good man and I know you loved him, after all he was your betrothed.”

Liluye looked at Sitara appreciatively. “It is hard Sitara but I
know that the man I loved died along time ago. That however doesn't change the fact that I feel no one but us should take his life.”
