As I Gaze Into Your Eyes
Torture, Bloody Torture

Snap. A glint of metal flinging through the air. A strangled cry.

"Kuronue no!" Yoko Kurama cried. "Leave it!"

"I need it!"

"Kuronue!" Kurama screamed.

Bamboo spikes shot up just as Kuronue reached the pendant glittering in the ground. He gasped in sudden pain.

"Kuronue!"

"R-Run!"

"No!" Kurama took a hesitant step towards him.

"Run damn it!"

"Not with out you!"

"Forget about me, save yourself, Kurama!"

"Kuronue no!"

"RUN YOU IDIOT FOX!!!!!!!!" Nodding Kurama took one last glance at his dying friend before turning and running away.

Kuronue coughed up blood as the spikes receded. He lay on the ground in a pool of his own blood, eyes glazing over.

"Oh no you don't," growled a gruff guard. Sharp pains enveloped Kuronue's senses as he was lifted brutally of the ground. He let out a cry. "Shut up!" And with that said Kuronue lost consciousness.

.
..
… Kuronue coughed as he awoke. He blinked open his eyes blearily, staring at the ceiling.

'Oh, here,' was his only thought before the door to the cell opened with the jingle of keys. A tray was laid at his feet.

"Eat." Kuronue turned his head lazily towards the man before him. It was Kage, his captor. "Eat." Kuronue's gaze turned towards the food but he didn't move to eat. "I said eat!" Still Kuronue made no move to eat.

"Ah!" Kuronue cried as someone jerked on his hair. A knee connected with his nose. A sickening crunch resounded about the room.

"Eat!" Kuronue was blinded with pain but still he made no move to eat. "EAT!!!!!"

The wind was knocked from Kuronue's lungs as a fist connected with his diaphragm. He coughed eyes wide. Food was shoved into his open mouth and slowly forced down his throat. He coughed again, choking on the food.

Kage stood suddenly, staring at Kuronue with disgust.

"Too bad you must be my heir…" he murmured, "you're too damn stubborn." Chuckling he added. "But I will break you, soon my friend, soon." With that the silver bat left.

Kuronue moved weakly in the cell. He crawled towards the farthest wall, part of his body appeared in the sunlight while he tried to move into the shadows. His clothes were in dreadful condition, ripped terribly so from all of the beatings he had received. Bags hung under his eyes from nightmares. His face was paler than usual because he had not seen much sun. His indigo blue eyes were darker, more ominous. His skin was marred with various scars from whips to knives. Currently his face was bloodied from the knee to his nose; his nose was bent at a slight angle where it had broken.

Carefully Kuronue raised his hands towards his nose and winced as he righted it.

And then he lost consciousness.

..
Kuronue jerked awake to see a smirking Kage standing before him. Kage's smirk did not bode well for this infamous bat thief.

"How are you today?" Kage questioned. Kuronue just stared at him. "Don't you have anything to say?"

Kuronue's lazy stare did not waver, even as he said softly, "Mapputatsuni hiki sakuwayo." Kage blinked before smirking. (mapputatsuni hiki sakuwayo - I will tear you in half)

"Oh will you now?"

"Hai." (hai - yes)

Kuronue was up in a flash, scythe in hand, and sliced at Kage's neck. Kage dodged and only received a slight cut on the cheek. He growled and roughly kicked Kuronue in the stomach, causing him to collapse in his weakened state. With another fierce kick Kage left while muttering, "Kitanii chiisai konoyarou." (kitanii - dirty chiisai - little konoyarou - bastard)

Kuronue laughed.

.
..
"Ta njoubi omedetou," greeted Kage when he entered the room. He was met with Kuronue's black stare. "It is your tanjoubi, is it not?" (tanjoubi omedetou - happy birthday tanjoubi - birthday)

"Kyou hai," Kuronue muttered. Kage grinned. (kyou - today)

"Good. This is for you." He tossed a small wrapped package. Kuronue stared at it in confusion. "Go ahead, open it, it won't bite." Kage chuckled like it was funny.

Kuronue opened it to find an outfit similar to the one he usually wore.

"You find this okashi," Kuronue stated in a dull tone. (okashi - funny)

"Hai that I do," Kage smirked. Kuronue tossed the outfit on the floor and didn't speak. "Don't like the gift?" Kuronue didn't speak. "Too bad." With that Kage turned on heel and left, leaving Kuronue to his thoughts.

.
..
"K oi shiteru, musuko," Kage smirked. Kuronue didn't even look at him. "Maybe I should teach you a lesson," Kage muttered thoughtfully. "Let's see, cutting has no effect, whipping neither. You seem not to feel pain…I wonder…" Smirking Kage got an idea. He moved to sit on Kuronue's lap while pushing him down to the floor. Kuronue frowned in confusion. (koi shiteru - I love you musuko - son)

Kuronue's eyes widened when he felt Kage's hands roam his body. He tried vainly to push Kage off but Kage had weakened him with something he put in Kuronue's food everyday. Kage's hand touched Kuronue's shoulder and he frowned. He pushed back the hair there and sniffed the skin before glaring at it.

"Wa, you've been marked," he stated. Kuronue glared at him. "By whom I wonder?" Kuronue didn't answer. "Oh well we'll have to remedy that." He pulled out a knife and Kuronue's eyes widened once again. (wa - oh no)

Kuronue let out a piercing scream as his last connection to Yoko Kurama was torn from him, the mark of a mate.

.
..
"Kitan ii," Kuronue muttered, "kitanii…watashi - jaamataashita…kitanii…" He punched weakly at the wall. (watashi - I jaamataashita - so long)

"Konnichiwa." Kuronue's head turned sharply. (konnichiwa - hello)

"Anata…" (anata - you)

"Watashi," Kage smirked. "Ready for some more, musuko?" Kage reached out a hand to stroke Kuronue's cheek.

"D-Dozo…d-dozo," Kuronue muttered brokenly. "Kitanii…kitanii…" (dozo - please)

"Ah, you are not dirty musuko," Kage stated, "quite far from it in fact."

"Kitanii…" Kuronue repeated. Kage backhanded him.

"You are not!" he growled. Kuronue didn't speak; he just stared at the ground. "Quit thinking like that!" Kuronue's stare was blank. "Quit it!"

In an instant Kuronue was up, hand going to Kage's neck, but Kage blocked the weak attack and Kuronue collapsed from the strain of standing.

"Baka," Kage snarled, "baka kitanii chiisai konoyarou." (baka - idiot)

"Kitanii…" Kage kicked Kuronue in the stomach and left.

.
..
Kuronu e stared blankly at the door where noise was coming from. The door burst open and Kage stormed in, grabbed Kuronue by the arm harshly, and proceeded to drag him out of the room. Kuronue winced.

"Stop right there." Kage snarled and whipped around.

"Who are you to stop me, Koenma?" he snapped.

"Torturing of an innocent is not the right thing to do."

"He's a thief!"

"He was cleared of all charges a while ago." Kuronue blinked.

'Cleared of all charges?' he thought quietly.

"You are not taking him! Besides, he's a wonderful whore."

"Raping of an innocent is wrong. You will go to Reikai prison." (reikai - spirit world)

"Iie!" (iie - no)

A large blast whizzed past Kuronue and he heard the definite thump of a body. He hoped it was Kage. Suddenly his vision was covered by blue. A man knelt before him. Brown hair fell into his golden brown eyes and the letters JR were stamped on his forehead. A pacifier was in his mouth.

"Daijoubu desu ka, Kuronue?" the man questioned. (daijoubu desu ka - are you alright)

"D-Daijoubu," Kuronue rasped. The man smiled. (daijoubu - I'm alright)

"Yoi," he whispered. "I suspect you don't remember me, ne?" (yoi - good)

"Iie."

"You saved my life when I was a mere boy," the man stated, "and for that I owed you. I have cleared you of all charges…and here I am rescuing you in the name of justice. If I may say so it is you who owes me now."

"Hai."

"Can you stand?"

"Iie." The man nodded. He bent down and hefted Kuronue up on his feet. He slowly proceeded to half drag half carry Kuronue out of the room. Kage was no where in sight.

.
..
Kuron ue awoke to white washed walls.

"Ah, your awake, I'll go get Koenma-sama." Kuronue blinked and sat up. He was obviously in some sort of hospital room. The woman was gone through the door a second later. Not a minute afterwards did the man who had helped him appear, walking into the room.

"Yoi, you're recovering quite well," he said. "How are you feeling?"

"Kitanii." The man frowned. (kitanii - dirty)

"I'll have to advise you to stay here for a while longer…we need to help you cope with what you have gone through. I promise you'll feel…clean soon." Kuronue just nodded weakly. "I suppose I must tell you my name, eh, Kuronue?" Kuronue didn't answer. "I am Koenma, Prince of Reikai, and I thank you for saving my life all those years ago." Kuronue blinked, surprised. He began to laugh.

"Okashi," he rasped, "okashi!" Koenma frowned. (okashi - funny)

"Tis no joke," he said.

"Seriously?" Kuronue questioned, frowning.

"Hai, seriously." Kuronue shook his head. He didn't speak after that. "I'll leave you to your rest then."

.
..…
"I'm sending you to Ningenkai," Koenma said, "you're to make sure no demon attacks a ningen." Kuronue just nodded. "You will be attending one Meiou High and you will appear as a ningen, understand?" Kuronue nodded. "Good. You leave today." Again Kuronue nodded. Koenma sighed and sat down next to the silent yokai. "Why won't you talk, Kuronue?" Kuronue's gaze turned towards the ground, his hands folded in his lap. Koenma sighed and stood. (ningenkai - human world ningen - human yokai - demon)

"Very well then, it seems you understand. I'll send Botan to send you to Ningenkai. Take care Kuronue, oh, and I suggest a new name." Kuronue nodded. Koenma was out the door. Kuronue finally looked up and he smiled.

"Goodbye…Koenma."

.
..
< center>…"And who might you be?" questioned the secretary. Kuronue, a young teenage Kuronue wearing the pink school uniform and no demonic traits stood before the secretary.

"Kato Kame," Kuronue said softly.

"Ah, the new student. Very well then, your guide is Minamino Suichii, he should be here in a minute. This is your schedule." The secretary handed him a schedule and Kuronue nodded. Suddenly a red head burst through the door.

"Gomen, I didn't mean to be late," he gasped. (gomen - sorry)

"It's alright Minamino-san," the secretary said. "Now, this is Kato Kame, Kato-san this is Minamino Suichii." Kame nodded.

"Well if you'd follow me?" questioned Suichii. Kuronue nodded and they walked out of the door.

.
..
Kuronu e stared at himself in the bathroom mirror.

"I'll be joining you soon…Kurama…." With that he raised the knife in his hand up and brought it down on his wrist. He sliced it and proceeded to the other wrist. He watched as the crimson color flowed gently down before fainting from blood loss.

.
..
Kuronu e opened his eyes to see concerned golden brown ones staring back at him. He felt weak but he wasn't dead.

"Why did you try to kill yourself?" questioned the unmistakable voice of Koenma. Kuronue just turned his head away. "I'll be having Botan pose as your sister, she'll attend the same school as you, the same classes, she'll go everywhere with you…except for personal things. But trust me when she'll know if you've tried to kill yourself."

Kuronue didn't answer. Botan walked forward and smiled at his face.

"I'll be your sister, Kame-kun," she said softly, "Kato Kamali." Kuronue looked up into her innocent eyes and sighed, closing his own. "You get better nii-san." With that Kuronue fell asleep.

.
..
Kura ma did a double take when he saw Botan in his school, sitting next to Kato-san. He promised himself that he would talk to her later…away from Kato-san.

The class started and Kurama had to pay attention.

.
..
" Are you okay, nii-san?" Botan questioned Kuronue. Kuronue just gave her a soft smile.

'So much like me when I was with Kurama…' he thought sadly.

"Nii-san?" Kuronue blinked but answered.

"I'm fine." Botan nodded happily.

.
..
"Ri ce and lamb!" Botan called from the kitchen. Kuronue entered it quietly and sat down. Botan served the food when the phone rang. She picked it up (it was a cordless) and answered. "Moshi moshi?" (moshi moshi - a greeting on the phone…)

Botan's eyes widened and she took the phone out of the room, leaving Kuronue alone.

.
..
Kuron ue sighed and closed his eyes as he was bombarded by hoards of girls and guys. They had suddenly taken it upon themselves to see if he would get a date. Slowly he pushed through them and into the school where he ran into Suichii.

"Ohayo Kato-san," Suichii greeted. (ohayo - good morning)

"Ohayo," Kuronue muttered. Botan came running up.

"Nii-san!" Botan chirped and Kuronue turned towards her. "I'll meet you in class, okay, nii-san?" Sighing Kuronue nodded.

"How have you been, Kato-san?" Suichii questioned. Kuronue didn't answer as he walked towards his locker. Suichii frowned in confusion. "Is something the matter?" Kuronue again didn't answer. That was when Suichii noticed the scars on his wrists and arms as Kuronue opened his locker. "What happened to you, Kato-san?" Suichii questioned with a frown, looking at Kuronue confusedly. Kuronue jerked away from him, turned, and left.

'What is with this Kato guy?' Suichii. 'Why is he so special that Botan has to watch over him? What happened to him?' he frowned but headed towards class.

What Suichii didn't know…couldn't hurt him, right?

We ll, another story idea, only not a crossover. Here's some little facts about the names of Kamali, Kato and Kame:

Kame is an African name and means "Desolate, Arid"

Kamali is an Arabic name and means "Spirit Guide, Protector"

Kato is a Latin name and means "Good Judgment"

The names, as you can see, have somewhat to do with the characters. Please review, I'd much appreciate it!
