Chapter four:

"Shhh, little one." Kurama cooed the wailing child. He was rocking the baby back and forth, trying to shush him. It had been
about 10 minutes ago that he was downstairs in the midst of passion with his lover. 'Hiei, I'm sorry....forgive me.' Kurama couldn't help but think that Hiei had somehow gotten cheated by an infant....twice. Kurama walked toward the door, thinking that the baby might be hungry again. His graceful steps were almost completely muffled by the plush carpeting of the main hallway. The redhead reached the top of the stairs. 'I hope Hiei won't be angry with me.' He took a deep breath, and started down the stairs. He was a bit surprised that Hiei was no longer on the sofa. The clothes that were once scattered on the floor, was now neatly folded on the couch, or Kurama's clothes were; Hiei's weren't present. Meaning Hiei had gotten dressed while Kurama was upstairs. The kitsune set the child down on the end of the sofa. He then started pulling his clothes back on. While he was buttoning his shirt up, he noticed that a few buttons were missing. 'Hiei has no respect for my clothing...' Kurama mused. Not that he was complaining, it's just that he should make Hiei sew them instead of himself. Kurama couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of his lover donned in a maid's outfit, sewing a shirt. He chuckled again and scooped up little Stewie. He began to wonder where his demon lover went. 'He's probably sulking in a tree somewhere. Not that I can blame him. Hiei is pretty sensitive about our sex life.' Kurama headed toward the double doors that would lead to the kitchen. The baby showed no signs of being any quieter as he opened the doors. "Stewie would you hush? Please?" Kurama snapped. It was rare for him to be cross with anyone, but this child was really grating on his nerves. The redhead was brought out of his fuming by a sound. He glanced up and almost had a heart attack. There stood his lover in all his glory, holding a freshly warmed bottle of milk, with a triumphant look on his childish face. Kurama was dumbfounded. He knew he probably looked like an idiot, standing there with bugged eyes, and his jaw hanging the ground, with a screaming baby on his shoulder. But he couldn't form any train of thought. Hiei stared back, a look of indifference plastered on his face, replacing the smug look of minutes ago. The koorime shifted from on foot to the other. Then he finally broke the uneasy silence. "Oi, fox, are you just gonna stand there like a fish out of water, or you gonna feed the brat?" Hiei almost grinned at the indignant look in his lover's eyes when he said that. Kurama looked shocked, then insulted. But he complied, he slowly approached the fire youkai. When he got within a foot from him, he held out his hand for the bottle. Hiei looked at the graceful form of his lover's outstretched hand, then at the glowing emerald orbs. He slowly shook his head negatively. Hiei noted the confused look in his lover's features. The fire demon decided to enlighten the kitsune. He opened his arms toward the wailing child. Kuram's eyes widened. His look mirrored disbelief. Hiei looked impatient and unrelenting. So he reluctantly handed the child to the waiting arms of his lover. "Ok firefly, but I'll help in case you decide not to do it." "Hn" was Hiei's only reply as he stared at the crying baby. "Well, Hiei, aren't you going to feed him?" Kurama looked amused as his lover was plainly confused as to how to handle the infant. "Well greeneyes, it would be easier if you'd give me some pointers." Kurama's eyes glinted with a light as he noticed Hiei purposely avoided the word, "Help." Kurama chuckled and Hiei glared. "Ok ok Hiei, no need to threaten." He chuckled again and reached toward his lover. "ok, first, you have to place the baby in a comfortable postion, ok good, now you, um, I guess you just stick the nipple at his mouth." Kurama watched Hiei as he just stared at him. "What?" Kuama asked, curious. "That's it? That's all you do to feed this thing?" Hiei asked, obviously relieved. "Well, I guess so. Just do it firefly." Hiei stared a few seconds more before lowering the nipple toward the open cavern that was the baby's mouth. Once it was in reach, the child instantly glomped onto it with his little lips. Hiei almost smiled at the sight of the baby, looking up at him so trustingly....almost. Kurama on the other hand, was looking ecstatic. "Awwww, look koi, he likes you...ohhh." Hiei just gave his lover a look that said, 'Have you been smoking some of your plants?' Kurama just looked indignant.

"No." Hiei stated firmly. "Aww please Hiei?" Kurama pouted.
"No way." "Pretty please?" "No." "........I'll use 'you know what.'" Kurama stifled a smirk as he knew he'd won. He knew Hiei couldn't resist him if he gave him a puppy dog expression.
"Hn, fine fox have it your way." Kurama cheered as Hiei just scowled. "Firefly you can't take a walk with me and Stewie looking like you just stepped in shit. Lighten up." Kurama sniggered as Hiei shot him a look of promised pay back later that night. 'That's not a bad thought.' The fox mused as he dressed Stewie in a jacket. When finished, he almost giggled at the child confined in his sleeper, with a jacket on, and a stocking cap. He looked like a bundled Eskimo. But Kurama couldn't supress a laugh as he watched his lover frantically trying to set up the stroller. Hiei looked like he was in a battle. His face had a determined look to it, his body was tensed, as if an enemy was getting ready to strike. But what made it amusing was he was trying to stare down an unmoving object. Hiei's glare turned on his lover when he heard the giggle. Kurama tried his best to look innocent but failed miserably. He couldn't take it, he started laughing fairly loud. "Hn" was Hiei's indifferent answer. "Greeneyes, why don't you try to conquer the demon." Kurama laughed even harder as he realized Hiei thought of the stroller as a demon that would strike with any given moment. "That's not fair firefly. I don't know how to set it up." Hiei smirked at his lover. "Hn, then we're not going to be able to go then are we?" Hiei looked smug as he knew he was going to get to stay home. "Ah ah ah...not so fast Hiei, I didn't say I wasn't going to try." The smug look on his lover's face disappeared instantly. "Hiei, you're going to help me figure out how to do this." Hiei grumbled but complied by crouching next to the stroller. Kurama walked over and sat next to Hiei. "Now, where to begin...."

A couple of curses and dragon threats later, they finally managed to get the stroller in going condition. They were walking down the sidewalk, next to the houses in the neighborhood. They were also close to the park. Kurama was trying to make conversation, but Hiei was either not paying attention, or was just refusing to acknowlege the kitsune's talk. "Alright firefly, I know you didn't want to go on this walk, but try to look happy." Hiei just snorted, but he uncrossed his arms from in front of his chest. As they were rounding the corner, they came across a woman in her late 30's walking a dog. According to Hiei, the dog looked like a shaved rat. The woman stopped in front of the stroller and gushed at the child. "Oh, how adorable! I've never seen a more cute baby in all my life! You two must be the proud parents! Miss, your red hair certainly does you justice. And you, young man, you better take care of your family, and put on some weight, and some inches, men should be tall!" Hiei looked like he was gonna kill her, and Kurama looked like he was ready to die of embarrasement, as passerbys were giving them all looks, especially the estranged woman flabbing her gums. Before Kurama could speak, Hiei had growled out, "This brat ain't ours', and Kurama here is a MAN! You wanna see his dick!?" Kurama gasped, horrified. The woman looked like she was having a stroke. "Agh, you young man should be put away, talking like that! Why I should wash your mouth with soap!" The woman looked outraged. She then focused her gaze on Kurama, who shrank back. "And you! How can you associate with mongrels like him!? I'm ashamed of you youngsters these days! Why back in my day......"
"Oh cut the shit and beat it ningen!" Hiei growled through clenched teeth. The woman huffed and walked away. "Hiei that was very rude of you! I can't believe you said that!" Kurama's face was as red as his hair. "Hn, the woman had it comin'." And with that, he started on down the street. Kurama rushed to catch up. "Well I'll let it pass this time but you need to learn to be polite." "Hn."

*Knock knock
Kurama was disturbed from his nap by a knock on the front door. Trying to get up without waking his lover who was curled on his chest, he very carefully placed Hiei back down on the couch. Sidestepping the slumbering child sprawled on the floor, he made his way to the door. They had ended their walk with only one more incident. They'd run into Kurama's mother. They'd seen her outside the Ramen Shoppe. They'd talked for awhile, mostly trying to convince her that 'No he wasn't hiding a girlfriend, and No he didn't secretly have a family at his home.' It got pretty ugly. Shiori was convinced that her Shuu-chan was just too embarrased to admit he had a girlfriend who'd had his child. Until Kurama properly introduced her to Hiei, his lover, that is. Kurama chuckled at the memory of his mother's face once she got the hint of who Hiei was. Kurama laughed some more as he opened the front door. He was surprised to see Keiko standing there, looking tired. "Hello Keiko-chan, how was your meeting?" He asked politely with a bow. Keiko smiled and said, "Just fine Kurama-san, how was little Stewie? Was he behaved?" Keiko looked worried for a moment. "Oh no, he was a little angel.." Kurama didn't see why he had to tell her the whole truth. Keiko visibly relaxed. "Whew, I felt so guilty after I left, just dumping him here with you, I'm so sorry." Kurama was surprised. "It is ok Keiko, are you here to pick him up?" Kurama masked the hope in his voice. "Actually, yes I am, is he asleep?" Kurama sidestepped in order to let her in the house. "Yes, he's been out for about an hour and a half now." They walked across the floor toward the sleeping child. He looked so innocent when asleep....much like a certain little fire demon.... Kurama carefully picked the unmoving baby into his arms, waiting for Keiko to finish gathering the bags she had left there earlier that day. Kurama gently handed the bundle of sleep to Keiko's waiting arms. "Oh thank you Kurama, and tell Hiei I said thanks too." She smiled before heading back to the door. Kurama quickly hurried to open it for her, secretly wishing she'd hurry up. With one last look at the fox, she walked down the porch stairs and headed toward the taxi waiting for her at the curb. Kurama let out a sigh of relief and shut the door. He turned toward his slumbering lover, still out on the couch. As Kurama carefully picked him up, he mused. 'This must have been an interesting experience for the little demon.' He slowly walked up the stairs and headed toward their bedroom. He opened the door, and gently deposited his sweet burden onto the fluffy bed. Hiei instantly snuggled into the blankets. Kurama almost laughed, the scene was so cute! He quickly pulled back the covers, and softly scooted next to his lover. He was almost asleep when an arm came across his chest. Sleepily, he opened his hazy eyes to see a pair of rubies looking down at him. "Hiei..? Wha..?" The red eyes showed promised retribution. "Hn, payback time greeneyes." The koorime smiled. The kitsune smiled back, knowing he was in for a pleasurable evening as Hiei decended his lips against his own. Babies and other things left the two lover's minds as they were swept to the special place where only two people in love can go.....
