Summary: The price of honor often means making choices with damaging repercussions but when is the damage too great to be repaired and what obstacles can be overcome in the name of love and devotion?

They both had known that it was coming, even if neither one of them had wanted to think of it. Hell, Yusuke had been willing to bet that the apparition had conveniently forgotten and truthfully, he wished that he could have as well. It would have made things so much simpler but reality always had a nasty way of returning to bite you in the ass. Over the years Yusuke had become used to this fact but this was one time that the pain it inflicted was nearly too much for him to bear. Slowly he took a step towards the hybrid, unsure of the reception that he would get but Yusuke knew that he had to try. Cold crimson eyes stared into his own, the walls already going up to protect their owner. Unfortunately the flash of pain was still noticeable to him, even if it was well hidden. This was tearing his lover apart and there wasn't anything that he could do to spare the demon the pain he was going through. Three years ago Yusuke had promised a certain brown eyed girl that he would return and it was a promise he had to keep. "Hiei?"

"Detective." The wince that crossed Yusuke's face was visible but that didn't halt the man's progress towards him. Hiei tried to remain unaffected by the words his lover had spoken mere minutes before but it was impossible to do so. How foolish he had been to think that he'd be enough to sway Yusuke's thoughts away from Keiko permanently. All he'd managed to accomplish was deluding himself into believing that the Toushin would remain in the Makai with him. Words of devotion spoken in the heat of passion meant nothing it would seem, apparently he'd been nothing more than a warm body to take the edge off of the man's sexual urges. Thoughts raced around in the back of his mind, demanding that it wasn't true but Hiei ignored them, needing to distance himself as much as possible from the situation. Strong arms reached out to wrap around them but the apparition took a step backwards to avoid the embrace, his expression one of reproach. Why offer comfort now? It would only hit twice as hard when the man left and he'd be alone to deal with the inner pain once again.

The fact that Hiei had used his former title was telling, there was no way that the apparition would be willing to forgive him for this one. Not even if he promised to return in the future when Keiko's life was over. Demons lived for a very long time but so did the grudges that the demon before him held. Somehow he doubted that Hiei would take a promise for the future and let this blow by. Sighing heavily, Yusuke stuffed his hands in his pockets knowing that there was no way that Hiei would accept his touch now, not when this would be farewell. "I'm sorry Hiei." Words meant little to either one of them, not when they wouldn't change what was happening between them. He only wished that the apparition would understand this was something he had to do. "I never meant..."

"Just spare me Detective, if all you'd wanted was a quick fuck then that's all you should have asked for." Hiei turned to stare off into the distance, wishing the man would just go and yet at the same time hoping he would stay. One thing was for certain, he wouldn't beg. Not in this life time or the next, he had too much pride for that. Long ago Mukuro had told him this was likely to happen, she was able to see into the Toushin's mind and read the devotion for the human girl within but he hadn't wanted to believe it despite how Yusuke had fought for Keiko when her life was on the line. His arms crossed over his chest in a defensive gesture, guarding himself from further hurt though it was a futile gesture at best. The sound of a pack being picked up made him turn his head slightly, his gaze seeking out the taller man. "It meant nothing to you, did it?" The words were soft, carried away by the gentle breeze but he knew his lover had picked them up easily enough.

"Of course it did Hiei." Frustration was getting the better of him and it showed plainly in Yusuke's voice. The pack was dropped once again, a small cloud of dust rising from the ground once again only to settle after a few moments. "We both knew this was going to happen though!" The urge to defend himself was compelling even though Yusuke knew that he really couldn't justify what had happened. Why had he approached Hiei in the first place when he knew that eventually it had to end. Couldn't he have waited until his final return to the Makai? As much as he hated to admit it, Yusuke knew that he was in the wrong this time. He'd been selfish, not wanting to chance losing Hiei to someone else while he was in the Ningenkai and so he'd seduced the apparition with soft words and touches. What was worse was he knew he'd lead Hiei on to some degree, willing the small demon to form an attachment that went beyond the bonds of friendship. Had it been a subconscious act? He'd like to think so but one couldn't be certain. All Yusuke had known at the time was he didn't want to lose Hiei even when he returned to Keiko. He wanted to hybrid to wait for his return and now it looked as if his actions had cost him everything with his lover.

"Did it?" Hiei stalked over to the man, staring at him for several long moments before reaching up and grabbing Yusuke by his shirt. A harsh tug had them face to face as he stared into those deep brown eyes. "I'm not so sure Yusuke." Surprisingly the Toushin didn't react to being manhandled, especially since he tended to be the more dominant of the two of them. Yet now he didn't fight or protest as they stood regarding each other. In the distance Hiei could hear someone calling for him but they went ignored in favor of staring at his lover. It couldn't be said that Hiei would ever give up without a fight, but he wasn't going to hold onto someone who obviously didn't care to remain with him. "You have one chance Yusuke." Would this make a difference? Most likely not Hiei knew but it would be a small comfort when he slept alone at night. "The Makai is your home now, everything is here if only you wish to take it. Or you can return to that foul realm you came from and go to her. Make your decision and never look back on the door you closed, for nothing will be there waiting on you once you do."

"I guess this is goodbye then." Once the words were spoken Yusuke knew that there was no turning back. For a moment the apparition's eyes closed in pain before the hand that had been holding him in place released him and within moments the demon was gone. Yusuke sighed as he turned towards the border, grabbing his discarded pack and making his way towards the future that awaited him. Suddenly it didn't look nearly as bright, knowing that Hiei had meant what he said. Even if he were to change his mind at this very instant it was unlikely that the apparition would welcome him with open arms. The famed Forbidden Child, master of the Jagan eye and wielder of the Dragon of the Darkness flame had never opened his heart to anyone Yusuke knew, at least until he'd forced his way in and he'd just single handedly managed to crush the proud demon by carelessly tossing him aside. No, Hiei would never forgive him and the Toushin couldn't help but mourn that loss.

Mukuro watched the apparition tear through the newest recruits with an ease that had most of the higher ranking officers staring in disbelief. Demon after demon fell before Hiei, blood splashing through the air liberally as the blade cut through their bodies. The screams of the dying were horrific but it didn't phase the one reveling in the carnage. How many times had they gone through this? Mukuro had long since lost count over the years, though she'd hoped that eventually the apparition would return to the way he used to be. Unfortunately doubts were beginning to form about it ever happening and there was little she could do to help the demon who continued to fight. It was rare anymore that even she could reach him, the walls that had sprung up ever since Raizen's heir had left were too thick to penetrate. Only two things would be able to bring down those barriers and both of them were in the Ningenkai, a place Hiei refused to go.

"That's enough." Few were left living in the middle of the ring, Hiei being one of them. At her command he ceased his attacks though the apparition remained poised, ready to resume at a moments notice. Blood covered his body though none of it was his own, his chest heaving with the exertion of battle. Mukuro closed her eyes for a moment and contemplated the few emotions she could feel radiating off of him. Pain and intense anger were felt for mere moments before they disappeared once again, Hiei having realized she was trying to read him yet again. Fixing the smaller demon with a hard look, she contemplated just what she should say to him. "I told you I wanted them tested, not eliminated Hiei."

Ignoring her words for a moment Hiei flicked the blood off of his katana before sheathing it. Lazily he shrugged as he surveyed the damage he had caused in just a few short minutes before giving her an impassive look of his own. "Don't tell me my job Mukuro, you wanted them tested and that's exactly what I have done. If these fools were too weak to withstand even this then they will be useless in the ranks. Bring me someone worth a damn for a change and you'll be able to do something other than count the bodies when I'm finished." When the woman's good eye narrowed at him Hiei turned his back and left the ring, needing to get cleaned up. They'd had this discussion time and again, it was getting more than a little old. Nothing changed despite how much they argued now, the routine was the same day in and day out. He did what he did best, kill. That was precisely the reason she kept him around in spite of everything.

More than one of her officer's took a step back as Mukuro stared at the demon walking away from her. This wasn't the first time that he'd mouthed off to her, nor the second. For a while she had indulged him, knowing that it was a result of what Yusuke had done but after a while she'd resolved to knock it out of him by force. Unfortunately that hadn't worked either, he relished the pain that came from it and there had been several instances when both of them had come away severely wounded. One thing had become clear to her though, he wouldn't stop until the issue with Yusuke was resolved or the apparition was dead. Personally she wished it was the other way around, at the moment she'd quite happily relieve the Toushin of his head but that was likely to make things with Hiei even more strained than they already were. Turning to a pale blue demon she gestured to the bloodied ring, "Get this mess cleaned up. I have business to attend to."

Without another word she walked out of the room, following the path that Hiei had taken. It was no surprise to the woman that the hallways were empty as she passed through, those who were close enough to feel her aura wisely kept out of her way as she made her way towards the apparition's quarters. Without knocking she pushed the door open, standing there as the man disrobed. When he turned to look at her in irritation her arms crossed, it wasn't like he had anything she hadn't seen before. Hell, she'd been the one to put his dead carcass into the regeneration tanks when he'd fallen to Shigure. "I'm removing you from your duties for the time being, I will assign your patrol to Kenoc for the time being until you can work this problem of yours out." When those crimson eyes narrowed at her she gave him a hard look of her own. "It's been five damned years since he's left Hiei, you need to either get over him and move on or drag his ass back from the Ningenkai."

"It's not your concern Mukuro so do us both a favor and mind your own business." While the woman meant well Hiei knew that what she proposed wouldn't work, Yusuke wasn't coming back. He'd accepted that a long time ago. Carelessly he tossed his soiled clothing into the corner and began walking towards the bathing room. So she wanted to take him off duty? Hiei was snorting at the declaration, it wasn't as if she hadn't done that before. It hadn't made a difference then, it wouldn't make one now. It merely gave him a vacation from her bitching at the way he did his job now. The door closed behind him, separating him from the woman who seemed determined to interfere in his life. Her footsteps were heard exiting the room, clearly displeased with the way their talk had turned out. It wasn't his problem, all he wanted was a moment to clean the bloodstains off of his skin and then sleep. At least then he might get a break from the constant thoughts of a certain brown eyed Toushin that tended to plague his every waking moment.

Snatching at the rag he dipped it into the water and began to vigorously scrub at his skin even as he began to curse the man who wasn't even present. How much longer would the memory of his former lover continue to torment him? Even sleeping only gave him a respite part of the time, others he'd wake up panting with his skin flush and taut with anticipation. The memory of those torturous caresses were just too damned hard to forget but there was no way Hiei would allow another close enough to attempt to sate that desire. Water dripped down his body in thin rivulets, staining the white tile beneath him a dark pink as he continued to wash himself. He'd worry about the mess later if he felt like it, if not he'd call someone up to clean it for him. Either way it made no difference. The harsh scrubbing he was giving himself made his skin ache but he concentrated on that discomfort, trying to banish the face he saw every time he closed his eyes. A growl of frustration escaped the apparition as he flung the cloth across the room where it collided with the wall. "God dammit! When will it end?"

The words bounced off the walls, mocking him as he leaned against the cool tile. The horrible truth stared at Hiei as he slowly slid down to the floor, nothing would change this, it would never end. Any hope of that had shattered like fragile glass with Yusuke's parting words, the last moments they'd spent together that continued to haunt him. Regardless Hiei was certain the man didn't care one way or another. News had reached him via Kurama that his lover had married Keiko as he'd promised. The knowledge had cut through him as easily as a blade but it didn't hold a candle to the pain he'd gone through upon hearing of their subsequent divorce only a few years later. Arrogantly he'd thought that the former Detective would come crawling back to him, eager to resume their relationship but that day never came. Weeks blended into months which turned into years, it was hard accepting the truth. Yusuke had moved on while he remained stuck in the past.

Outside the bedroom door, unheard by the apparition within Mukuro shook her head sadly. Even if she disliked Yusuke for what he had done the woman knew she would put aside her personal feelings on the matter if it made Hiei happy. "Today Hiei, it ends today. One way or another." Without another word she strode from the door, her demeanor one of pure determination. As she made her way into her office she passed a small group of demons who were all looking at her expectantly. "Ronin, I have business to attend to for the rest of the day, you are in charge until I return. Do not disappoint me." Seeing the man salute briskly Mukuro disappeared into the large room, closing the door behind her. Taking a seat at the desk the woman slid a drawer open and withdrew a fluid filled ball which would carry a message to anyone she chose. Closing her hand around it, Mukuro projected her thoughts into the pale liquid for several long moments. Only once she was finished did she summon an imp, the small grey creature looking up at her expectantly. "Deliver this to Koenma and no other with all haste, ensure that he gets it."

Without a word the imp disappeared, leaving no trace behind that it had even been there. It wouldn't be long before the demigod appeared, of this she was certain. The man was positively paranoid about an S class demon deciding to cross into the Ningenkai and she was no exception. However in this instance she refused to be denied, Yusuke Urameshi would be returning to the Makai one way or another, even if she had to knock him unconscious to do so. Eagerly she waited for the Underlord's arrival and she wasn't disappointed to see a flash of golden light that signaled a portal being created. Leaning forward she rested her chin on her fingers as Koenma stepped through his look one of anxiousness. "Prince Koenma, how good of you to respond so quickly."

"What do you expect when you threaten to come into the Ningenkai unannounced and you refuse to state your business. Are you so anxious to go head to head with the SDF?" Hearing from the former demon lord had been a surprise to begin with but Koenma wasn't exactly sure what to make of her message. What made matters worse was the expression on her face now as he stood before her. Granted, his entrance probably hadn't been the most impressive of things but what did you expect when everything was dropped at a moments notice? The last time he'd heard from Mukuro was when she'd requested Hiei's presence in the Makai, just after the Sensui fiasco. Nervously he shifted as her grin widened, no he definitely didn't like that expression on her face.

The man's brief show of arrogance was short lived much to Mukuro's amusement. The man was still cock as well as being a bit of a coward, though in her opinion he was still preferable to his father. "I think we both know that I have nothing to fear from the SDF Prince Koenma. Be grateful that I even chose to call on you, if I'd decided to go straight into the Ningenkai there is little that you could do to stop me and we both know it." Slowly she stood up though to Koenma's credit he didn't take a step back as she approached him. Carefully she extended her senses, making sure that Hiei wasn't present for what she was about to do. The last thing she needed was for the apparition to take off like a bat out of hell. Sensing he was still in his room, now soaking in the tub she turned her attention back to the man in front of her. "I need to know, do you have any further ties to your former detective?" Nothing she'd been able to come up with on the man had indicated he'd fallen back in with the Reikai but Mukuro wanted to be certain before she acted.

"Yusuke? No, why do you ask?" A million and one possibilities raced through his mind as to why this particular woman would be asking about his former employee but none seemed to make any sense. The man hadn't been in the Makai in years so Yusuke couldn't have done something to piss her off that he knew of. There were no longer kingdoms so to speak so an alliance bonding wouldn't fit either. Could she possibly want him to serve under her for some reason? That would be possible Koenma thought, Yusuke was quite powerful after all. Koenma looked at the tall woman carefully, trying to see if he could pull anything from her mannerisms but there was none.

Knowing that she'd thoroughly confused the godling in front of her, Mukuro decided to get to the point. There was no sense in beating around the bush about things as it were, it would just prolong the amount of time she had to deal with one pissy apparition. "Not to put too fine of a point on it Koenma, I intend on going into the Ningenkai and bringing Yusuke back with me. I need to know if you plan on trying to stop me." Seeing the man's eyes widen Mukuro chuckled, it would be interesting if it did come down to a fight between the two of them but there was no way she would lose. While Koenma had determination he had little skill, unless you counted stamping papers that is, which was hardly useful in a battle.

"I have to ask why you'd want him Mukuro." Koenma paled at the way she'd spoken, it sounded as if she didn't plan on giving Yusuke a choice one way or another. Unfortunately though Yusuke was living in the human world he was technically a demon and didn't fall under the Reikai's jurisdiction. The only way they could try and prevent her going in on was that he was located in the Ningenkai to begin with. Even so, Koenma knew that it wasn't likely to do him much good to protest, the woman had a point. The SDF couldn't touch her if she decided to go and retrieve the man, that's why they'd put the barrier in place to begin with and unfortunately it'd been gone for many years now. The only one likely to win a fight with the demoness was Yusuke himself.

Calmly Mukuro regarded the man before sighing, it wasn't likely that Koenma knew anything about the relationship that had gone on between Yusuke and her second in command. Either way that wasn't her problem, he'd just have to deal with it. "If you had the pleasure of living with Hiei in your palace for the past five years you would not be asking me that question." The man's confusion was obvious when Hiei had been mentioned, it would definitely seem that he was in for a shock. "Don't look at me like that. to put it simply Yusuke had an affair while he was here last, one that I tried to keep from happening but my thoughts on the matter meant little to either one of them. Since Yusuke returned to that human female he'd promised himself to Hiei's become more violent with each passing day. Sooner or later he's going to find himself in a battle he can not win and he'll have walked into it eagerly." By now Koenma was staring at her with wide eyes, it would have been amusing had the situation not been so serious. "Yusuke is the only one who can reverse the damage that was caused by his departure so I'll ask you one final time. Are you going to attempt to stop me from retrieving the fool or not?"

"Yusuke and... Hiei? My this was certainly.. unexpected." Koenma shifted uncomfortably underneath the woman's gaze. This was what he got for trying to give his former team privacy in their lives, now he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. If he'd only known perhaps there would have been something he could have done to prepare for this but no, things couldn't have worked out that way. It would have been far too easy. While it looked as if the demigod were giving it serious thought, the both of them knew there wasn't shit he could do. It was just a matter of how painful it would be in the process. Sighing heavily, Koenma nodded. "You may pass into the Ningenkai one time and one time only. If Yusuke agrees then you're free to bring him back with you, if he doesn't I fully expect you will return here with no further disturbances. And please, you know how Yusuke's likely to take being ordered around. Let's not have a full scale war in the middle of the city, alright?"

It was apparent to Mukuro that the demigod was posturing but she chose to let it slide. Regardless of what Koenma wanted Yusuke would return with her one way or another and this problem would be worked out to her satisfaction, even if it meant leveling a city block in order to do so. "We've come to an agreement then, if you will excuse me I have a certain Mazuko to speak with." It was no surprise to see the look of relief crossing Koenma's face realizing she wasn't going to argue with him. What did catch her off guard though was the next flare of light signaling another portal opening. At first she believed that he was merely opening it to return to the Reikai but as the light cleared it revealed the faint image of houses on the other side. Was he planning to deliver her personally on Yusuke's doorstep?

"Don't look so surprised, I'm merely saving us both a migraine by sending you directly to his house. It's number 218 on this street, try not to take too long. I'll leave the portal open though it will be concealed so some poor idiot doesn't actually fall through, it'll close as soon as you bring him back with you." It was taking a chance leaving the portal in place and Koenma knew it but it was a damn sight better than having Mukuro walking through the city trying to find Yusuke's place. She was certain to attract attention and they didn't need any more questions raised. "Actually, warding the door here might not be such a bad idea either. Like it or not I don't trust even a third of the people you have working for you, so it's better if they didn't have access to this room while you are gone." It was a bold statement but he wasn't going to sugarcoat his thoughts about things. They'd had enough of demons traipsing through the human realm.

"Your fears are groundless but I'll agree to warding the door." The words weren't meant to make Koenma feel any better, rather, Mukuro knew that if Hiei saw the portal in her office he'd easily figure out just what it was she was doing. The chances he'd leave were a risk she didn't care to contemplate at the moment. Should that happen not only would she be dealing with a disgruntled Toushin but then she'd be saddled with hunting Hiei down and dragging him back to finish this. Mukuro held her palm out towards the closed door and allowed a glow to envelope the solid piece of wood. Now short of someone hacking it apart it would effectively keep anyone from entering.

Whether or not she considered his fears to be groundless or not Koenma really didn't care. All that mattered was she'd taken the precautions that he'd asked for and that was good enough. "Very well, good luck on your... plan. I have work that I have to return to so if you'll excuse me." Koenma nodded to the woman before creating another portal, this one opening up into the Reikai. It was tempting to go ahead and warn Yusuke of his impending visitor but the demigod knew that there wasn't any time. Already Mukuro was making her way towards the path to the Ningenkai, intent on finishing this as quickly as possible. Shaking his head Koenma stepped through the portal returning to the paperwork he'd left sitting on his desk. Silently he wished Yusuke luck, if Mukuro's expression was anything to go by the man would need it.

~*~

Yusuke slid the key into the lock on the front door, weary from a day's hard work. Had it been even six or seven years ago he would have been bitching at the amount of labor he'd been forced into doing but these days he welcomed the exhaustion. It kept him from thinking about how fucked up his life had become. Besides, working at the steel mill brought in good money. Neither him nor his mother any longer had to worry about living paycheck to paycheck even if for the most part Yusuke didn't bother in spending money to begin with. The door slid open allowing the cool gust of wind to wash over his body. What he wouldn't give for a shower right about now, that and something to eat finished off with a nice cold beer. Yusuke had just stepped through the doorway when his senses began to scream at him. "What the hell?" Shutting the door firmly behind him he walked deeper into the house, looking for the presence he sensed. Whoever had made the mistake of coming into his house was strong, too damned strong but Yusuke wouldn't back down. If it was a fight they were looking for he'd damned well give it to them.

As he rounded the corner Yusuke's jaw dropped in shock, his hand falling down to his side. Relaxing on the couch was one of the last demons he'd expected to see. The only one who would have stunned him more would have been Hiei, but it would be a cold day in hell before the apparition ever put in an appearance at his house. "What the hell are you doing here?" A hint of worry entered his voice, the only reason this particular demon would appear in his living room was if something had happened to the apparition he'd left behind. She was well aware of the terms that he'd left under and the final look she'd given him the day he'd left had been condemning. Throwing the keys on a table he walked further into the room, ignoring the scrutinizing look that Mukuro was giving him.

"It's been a long time Yusuke, I see you are doing well." Mukuro ignored the question for the moment and carefully looked the man over. The short sleeve shirt he was wearing did nothing to hide the scars that littered his lower arms, making her wonder just what had caused them. The distinctive scent of molten metal clung to him, giving her the thought that perhaps that had something to do with it. Either way the scarring meant little to her, it was just an observation of his physical condition. He was still as muscular as ever, if not a bit leaner. His hair fell limply across his forehead even though he half heartedly swiped it back. Over all the years had been kind to him but there was an emptiness in his eyes that hadn't been there before. "You know... It wasn't too much of a surprise to me when I'd heard that your relationship with the human girl didn't work out but I have to wonder. Why didn't you ever return? Are your ties to the human world so strong that you can ignore the call of the Makai?"

Irritation flooded through him as he threw himself into one of the chairs, so the woman had been checking up on him. Surely it wasn't because Hiei wanted to know what was going on in his life. His voice was flat as he spoke to the woman, not that she seemed to care any. "You still haven't answered my question. Why are you here? I doubt it's because of any growing concern over my wellbeing or did you just come to gloat that I screwed up?" His statement seemed to surprise her though at the moment Yusuke couldn't give a damn. Long ago he'd admitted that he'd made the wrong choice but it wasn't as if he could go back now. That bridge had been burned the moment he'd stepped across it, now he had to live with his decisions.

"At least you're willing to admit that much, it's a step in the right direction. I'm not here to gloat as you put it, I was merely curious as to why you hadn't come back. I'd thought perhaps your relationship was important enough to you to make an attempt at salvaging it. However it looks as if I might be mistaken. Did he mean so little to you?" Mukuro knew she was hitting a nerve by the way his aura flared up around him but she didn't fear an attack from the man in front of her. The truth might hurt but at least it was forcing him to question his current actions. With luck he'd come willingly though Mukuro had not changed her mind about dragging him back by force if necessary.

"I'm not the one that said don't bother to come back, did you ever think of that? Why should I come back when Hiei couldn't even try to see my side of things. Maybe it's him you should be questioning instead of me. If he came here and admitted that he hadn't meant what he said I wouldn't turn him away." That much was true enough, the only reason he hadn't went back had been Hiei's parting words. The man had already said it was over, there was no point in returning only to be turned away. The thought made him ache but it wasn't enough to make him stop living his life. Sure he still thought about his former lover often but it wasn't enough to drive him into a depression either. Calmly he leaned back into the chair and waited for the woman's reaction, no doubt she would take the apparition's side in things. Let her, all Yusuke wanted was for Mukuro to say what she needed to and then get the hell out of his house.

Mukuro stared at the man incredulously. And here she was thinking Yusuke knew the apparition perhaps even better than she did. This only went to prove just how wrong that thought was. "Spare me from your stupidity Yusuke, this is Hiei we speak of. Do you really think he'd come crawling back to the person who left him behind begging for another chance? Despite the fact that he still cares for you, though I can't imagine why, he is too proud to put himself in a position like that." In fact Mukuro knew that the apparition would rather fall on his own katana than resorting to lowering himself by doing such a thing. It was going to be hard enough for him to accept her interference as it was, the hybrid wasn't likely to take well to having the Toushin gift wrapped and dropped in his lap.

A sigh escaped his lips knowing that Mukuro had a point but that didn't tell Yusuke what he should do. The woman's words gave him slight hope however, if he returned would Hiei send him away? The doubt refused to vanish as he pondered his options, rejection was something that he'd never been comfortable accepting and it was still a very real possibility. Yet there really wasn't anything holding him here either except his job. It wasn't like he'd found another girlfriend or a boyfriend for that matter. Visits with his mother were infrequent at best and then usually only so he could drop a bit of money off. "So what you're saying then is that I should go to him." At the woman's nod Yusuke sighed and ran his fingers through his hair once more. "Look I don't know what he thinks now but I do know what he said when I left. I don't think he'd take me back even if I tried to make things right."

"You were the very last person I took for a quitter but once again you're trying to prove me wrong. The absurdity of the situation has gone beyond the realms of what I find acceptable and it's time someone stepped in to fix it. You may not believe he'd take you back but I know better so I'm going to be blunt with you." Mukuro fixed him with a glare that had him silencing whatever outburst he'd been ready to toss out. She was more than fed up with the two of them, this ended today. Slowly she stood and stared down at the majin, her expression clearly stating she'd tolerate no arguments. "The time for indecision ends now, you will return to the Makai today and you will fix this." While Mukuro left it unsaid that she was giving him no choice, the silence that dominated the room afterwards guaranteed her point had been made.

As they stepped through the portal back into Mukuro's personal office Yusuke hung back once more trying to decide exactly how it was that he could approach his former love and not suffer the rejection he feared was coming. `He'd have every right to turn me away but if he does so help me I swear Mukuro had better keep her mouth shut. I can't dictate his actions anymore and she'd best remember that.' He stared at the woman for a moment who was even now impatiently waiting for him to catch up with her. “I'm coming dammit, don't rush me!”

“You are in my fortress, you would do well to remember that.” Mukuro's voice was low, the threat in it was self evident. She would not tolerate disrespect no matter who it was from. While she had brought Yusuke here it was for the purpose of healing Hiei's mind and heart, not to be shown such blatant disregard in her own home. “If you want to act like an ass you can do it while you're healing in the regeneration tanks.” Her hand was on the door of her office and she pulled it open just in time for Ronin to hear the words she had been saying. Surprise showed briefly on his face as he craned his neck around to see who exactly it was that she had been talking to, obviously startled to see Yusuke standing there.

“Shall I bring Hiei to your office?” Ronin could only assume that Mukuro had brought the Toushin here as a way for her second in command to finally work out his aggression issues by beating the living shit out of the man that he was apparently still so angry with. A slow smile spread across his face as he could just imagine watching the two of them square off, it should be so much more interesting then watching Hiei's version of testing new recruits. Already his fingers were on his pockets fingering some coins he had there, ready to be used to place some bets on the outcome.

“No, I think this matter will be settled in Hiei's quarters. I have no desire to have to make repairs to my office should the matter get out of hand.” Her mouth was set in a determined line as she marched Yusuke down the stone walled corridor towards the private living quarters area that were reserved for herself and her second in command. With any luck he would still be there and she wouldn't have to go hunting him down as well now that she had the quarry in hand. When they came to his doors she stopped in front of them and looked at the Toushin. Her voice was flat and devoid of emotion. “Fix this or I will kill you myself.”

“What the hell?” Hiei had just started drifting off to sleep after his bath when his door was pushed open without the courtesy of being knocked on. His hand was already on his katana, ready to slit the throat of whoever had decided to invade his privacy when Yusuke was rudely shoved through the door and he could hear Mukuro chuckling.

“Finish this Hiei. Either make up with him or kill him but one way or another it ends here and now. Neither of you will leave these rooms until it is worked out. When you're done you can let me know and the door will be opened. Until then, have fun.” There was a flare of light as Mukuro put wards up on the room, there was now no escape. With a slight smile she turned and walked away, signaling Ronin to follow her, leaving two stunned men in her wake.

A string of curses fell from Hiei's lips once he realized there was no way out. Mukuro had orchestrated this well, leaving him no option but to deal with the torment he'd been holding in for the past several years. Roughly he pushed himself out of the bed, not caring in the least that he was clad only in his boxers. Yusuke seemed to realize the seriousness of the situation as well for there were no perverted remarks or lewd expressions thrown his way. However Hiei had to give the man credit, he was standing his ground even though he'd found himself thrown into a very dangerous situation. If Hiei chose to he could kill the former Detective now and there would be no retribution for the act. "What the hell are you doing here?" His voice was rough with anger and his fists were clenched at his sides, ready to be used at a moments notice.

Yusuke turned his head for a moment, unsure about just what to say to the man. Although Mukuro hadn't said much about how Hiei had been faring it was obvious to him that the apparition hadn't been doing all that well. There had always been a coldness that Hiei had given off but now it was so much more than that. It was as if the hybrid had taken his isolation to a whole new level and given himself even more scars upon his soul. Yusuke knew however that a good many of those were likely because of him and it shamed him to know that he'd done that to one of the few people who had truly cared about him. Sighing heavily he looked at the demon who stopped only a few feet from him, waiting impatiently for an answer. But what could he say? Hiei would likely slit his throat if he said something so callous as 'Mukuro dragged me here, by the way how have you been?' Then again Yusuke wasn't so sure that he didn't deserve that kind of reception in the first place. "I came to talk Hiei, will you listen?"

"You came to talk?" Hiei scoffed at Yusuke's words, the man couldn't even look at him. "Or do you mean that Mukuro dragged you here? Which is it Yusuke?" The second option was far more likely given the words that Mukuro had spoken before she took her leave of them. Of course the Toushin wouldn't have come back on his own, why would he? More than enough time had passed to reaffirm the idea that he didn't mean shit to the man standing in front of him. "Let me guess, it was either come willingly or she'd level the city block by block until you agreed. I should have known, those pitiful ningens always did hold sway over your actions."

"I guess that's what I get for hoping you'd actually be happy to see me." Yusuke's tone was bitter in the face of Hiei's condemnation and he didn't bother to try and hide it. "Fine so you don't want me here, let's get this over with so I can go home. I've got better things to do than listen to you insult me." What the hell had Mukuro been thinking by dragging him here? He'd said that Hiei wouldn't want to see him and yet again he'd been proven right in his thinking. Once that door was unlocked he was going to call her out, he needed a good fight to vent his anger and frustration.

"Eager to leave so soon Detective?" Somehow it didn't surprise Hiei that the Toushin was anxious to leave, most likely he hadn't wanted to come in the first place. "I should have guessed as much, you probably only came to make sure you'd accomplished your goal when you left for that silly human. What is it you humans are fond of saying?" Hiei tapped his chin as if deep in thought even though his tone was mocking, "Oh yes, I was just another notch on your bed post. So tell me Yusuke, how many lives have you ripped through since you left Keiko? Is that why you're so anxious to leave? You probably have another lover waiting on you even as we speak." By now the Toushin's gaze was locked onto his own, an angry aura flaring around the man's muscular body but Hiei wouldn't be intimidated. Years of pain and frustration at not being good enough for his former teammate threatened to overwhelm him but the apparition wouldn't allow himself to appear so weak in front of the one who had come so close to bringing him to his knees before.

Abruptly Yusuke's temper snapped and he had Hiei slammed up against the nearest wall stunning both of them. Bits and pieces of stone fell to the ground under the impact but it went ignored. It would only be moments before Hiei countered his move but Yusuke wasted no time, snarling down into the smaller demon's face. "Is that what you think? Fuck you Hiei! Since I left here the last time there's only been one person. One! And you already knew about her so don't pull this shit with me now! So what if it was Mukuro who convinced me to come back. At least I came, right?" Yusuke's chest was heaving by the time he finished and he wondered if Hiei would bother to try and understand. He hadn't all those years ago so why should he start now?

Roughly Hiei broke the hold that the Toushin had on him, his fist slamming into Yusuke's face. Slowly he circled the man, waiting to see if he would retaliate for the blow that had been struck. There was no way in hell he was going to fall at the man's feet thanking him for coming back. Yusuke would have to prove to him that this wasn't some sort of fucked up spur of the moment idea to get back into his bed. "So you admit it was because of her that you are here. I'll have to speak with Mukuro about staying out of my private affairs. Get out Yusuke, I refuse to be your play thing again. Find your amusement elsewhere while you still can. Don't think I won't hesitate to take your head if you continue to try my patience."

"And you called Kuwabara stupid you self centered jackass." Warily Yusuke watched the apparition as he wiped the blood from his face, there was no telling just how far Hiei could be pushed at the moment and he knew it. "I might have done a lot of shit wrong Hiei but you never were a plaything." Seeing the smaller demon's expression darken even further the former detective put even more distance in between them. By now the entire fortress more than likely knew of what was going on, their power levels continued to climb even higher with the volatile emotions they were both giving off. "You know for someone who claimed to live by a strict honor code you have a glaring blind spot when it comes to accepting it in others. You knew I'd promised Keiko, if I had broken that vow just what would that have said about my honor Hiei?"

"And what about the promises you made to me? You were so willing to throw them away when the whim struck you," Hiei spat at the taller man. He was more than fed up with this conversation already. A ball of flame erupted in his hand and it was hurled towards the door in an effort to destroy the barrier that had been erected around the room. As expected though the door held firm leaving him to curse once more, Mukuro had sealed the room well it would seem. Unfortunately he knew exactly what the woman was expecting from him and as much as Yusuke had put him through Hiei doubted that he could kill the man.

For a moment Yusuke had been worried that the apparition was going to start fighting seriously but seeing the attack wasn't directed at him he relaxed ever so slightly. The last thing he wanted to do was fight the apparition though if it came down to it he would. "Maybe it was wrong of me to make those promises when I wasn't free to give them but I can't change it now. If it makes a difference you know I didn't want to be forced to break them." Seeing that Hiei seemed content to watch him for a moment Yusuke took a chance and seated himself on the edge of the bed. He couldn't blame the man for being pissed at him, it had to be quite a blow to his pride to be left for a relationship that had been doomed to failure. "You know, when I went back I knew that I was making a mistake but I did it anyway. Just like I knew as I was at the altar with her that I'd chosen wrong. Maybe that's why it didn't work out between me and Keiko, I dunno. You don't know how many times I stood at the border, ready to drop everything in the Ningenkai but one thing stopped me. When you said that you wouldn't be waiting for me, I believed you. If I thought there was any chance you'd change your mind I would have come back. It took Mukuro to get me here because I figured you'd rather set me ablaze instead of accepting an apology."

"As tempting as that thought is the smell would be too hard to get out of the room." Hiei leveled a glare at him, not quite willing to believe that Yusuke was sincere in what he was saying. As much as he wanted to put his trust in the man again he'd already learned that doing so would only bring pain. "I could however relieve you of your head, if nothing else that would put an end to the lies you seem so set on telling me. Really Yusuke, you think I'll believe you had this startling revelation just before you spoke your vows and still went through with marrying her? I'm not that stupid, if you had then hell itself wouldn't have been able to force you into wedding her. I think you're saying what you think I want to hear." The temperature in the room seemed to get colder with each word as the tension mounted even higher between them but Hiei appeared to be unaffected by it all.

"Dammit Hiei, what is it going to take to get through to you!" The shout echoed off of the walls as Yusuke surged up off of the bed again. This time though he didn't bother to go to Hiei directly, instead choosing to snatch up the katana which the apparition had at his bedside. He knew that he was taking a chance, touching the man's sword. Others had died for attempting such a thing but Yusuke had a point to prove. Quickly he unsheathed it, tossing the scabbard onto the bed and thrusting the blade hilt first at the apparition. "Take the damned thing Hiei!" Only once the demon had the sword in hand did he drop his own back to his side. "You claim I'm lying? I say you're a coward. You have the jagan at your disposal, use it! Find out if I'm lying! I'll give you even more incentive since you seem to hate me now. If I'm lying you can carry out your threat and end my life. I won't bother trying to fight you." It was a bold move, one that might even be called suicidal but it was a last ditch effort in getting Hiei to believe what he'd said. Silently he waited to see what the apparition's reaction would be though he didn't have to wonder for long. The third eye which had remained closed throughout their argument flared open and soon he found himself lost in the violet light it emitted.

Even though Yusuke had been right in that he was afraid of what he might find, Hiei couldn't back down from the challenge once it had been issued. The tip of his katana was poised, ready to plunge into the man's chest though Hiei wasn't sure he could carry the death sentence out should Yusuke's mind reveal that he had indeed been lying. Years ago he wouldn't have been capable of this since the Toushin seemed to have a natural resistance to the Jagan's efforts but now Yusuke seemed to welcome the intrusion instead of fighting it off. Emotions battered the apparition at every turn but still he dug deeper, sifting through the memories meticulously in search of what Yusuke had claimed. The image of the Detective's wedding day materialized along with the the thoughts and feelings coursing through him at the moment. It would have been difficult to miss the way those brown eyes scanned the crowd, looking for someone who would never show up. Bitter regret made itself known although Hiei knew the feelings were not his own. 'So he wasn't lying about that particular day,' Hiei mused before pushing deeper. He had to know about the rest of the time Yusuke had spoken of.

Despite the fact that Yusuke had no real desire to relive these particular memories he resisted the urge to push the apparition from his mind. Time and time again instances were brought forth when he was with Keiko and how he had distanced himself from her, thinking only of the demon who was in his mind now. Echoes of the arguments he'd had with his wife came to mind, including the time when he crushed her feelings by revealing the fact that he'd taken Hiei as a lover while they'd been apart and how he regretted returning to her when he could have remained with the demon he'd left behind. Finally the sense of elation that came with the signing of the divorce papers when he realized that he was free again to return to Hiei followed quickly by bitter shame and regret in knowing that the apparition would never allow him back in his life. By the time the cycle of memories was finished he was on his knees and the sound of Hiei's sword clattering heavily to the ground filled his ears. "Do you believe me now?" Yusuke kept his gaze trained upon the stone floor, not wanting to see the disgust that was likely in the demon's eyes.

It took several long moments before Hiei could find his voice in light of what he saw. For one who hated emotions he certainly seemed to be experiencing a wide range of them on this day though his hatred for the man in front of him had lessened greatly. "I can't forget that you left me to be with her." A heavy sigh came from Yusuke though he made no move to protest what he'd heard. Hiei swallowed hard, could he risk himself again by accepting Yusuke into his life once more? The Toushin had spoken the truth when he'd said that there had been no others but what would happen if someone new came along? He had to know before he made any choices one way or another. "Your vows to me. Do they still stand or are you ready to forget them as if they'd never been spoken?"

"I don't break promises Hiei and I won't pretend that I never said them. Whether or not you want to ignore them is up to you." Yusuke wasn't going to dare getting his hopes up at the moment because Hiei was damned near as unpredictable as himself. The small hand that covered his own made him look up into Hiei's face, seeing the wariness in the apparition's eyes and it left him wondering just what the smaller demon would say. The threat of death seemed to be forgotten along with the sword that lay beside the both of them. "What do you want Hiei? What do you really want?"

The moment of truth was now at hand and Hiei stood with a sigh, pausing only to pick up his sword and sheath it. Of course Yusuke didn't break promises, that had been what had gotten them into this mess in the first place. Hell, he'd seen first hand that had he been willing to consider the idea Yusuke would have been willing to lead a double life and keep Keiko in the dark about things. "Be certain of what you are willing to give Yusuke. If I'm forced to give you up a second time it will only be through your death, be it by my hand or someone else's." A hard gleam entered his eyes, showing just how deadly the threat was. Should Yusuke entertain the thought of taking someone else to bed nothing would be able to save him.

Yusuke rose too, coming up behind the apparition and placing his hands on Hiei's shoulder. "That's not going to happen Hiei. I fucked up the first time, I can admit that but it won't happen again." Yusuke could only pray that Hiei believed in him, he wasn't about to screw this up. Second chances were practically unheard of when dealing with the small demon in front of him. If he ended up being one of the lucky ones he'd make sure that Hiei didn't regret his decision. "I'm not asking you to forget, but will you forgive? Just give me another chance, that's all I'm asking for."

"Don't make me regret this Yusuke." The words were soft as he turned towards the Toushin, the last of his anger draining away. No longer did he try and fight the arms that pulled him in closer, allowing himself to take comfort from the Toushin for the first time in years. He was so damned tired of fighting to keep his appearance of indifference intact and trying to keep his emotions in check. Gentle fingers threaded through his hair and unconsciously Hiei leaned into the touch while his eyes drifted closed.

Feeling the apparition relax against him the former detective sighed heavily before speaking softly. "It's over Hiei and I promise, you won't regret this. Neither of us will." His arms tightened around the smaller demon for a moment before loosening, causing the apparition to slowly look up at him. "It's late, why don't we go to bed." Yusuke shook his head when he saw the familiar wariness creeping back into Hiei's expression. "Just to sleep Hiei. It's been a long fucking day and we're both tired. Everything else can wait until later alright?" Once he was certain that Hiei wouldn't put up an argument he slowly moved the both of them towards the bed and lowered the apparition onto the mattress. Within moments both of them were settled comfortably though Yusuke refused to relinquish the hold that he had on Hiei. Instead his lover turned in his arms and rested his head against his chest with a sigh. "Sleep Hiei, I'm not going anywhere."

~*~

Awareness tugged on the edges of his mind as Hiei struggled to remain sleeping. Strong fingers trailed along his bared skin in heated caresses, teasing him into wakefulness. Still he didn't want to wake up, believing it to be nothing more than a dream that would vanish the moment his eyes opened. A breathy moan escaped his lips as the touches became bolder with each passing moment. "Yusuke..." Soft lips captured his own in a languid kiss before the Toushin pulled back and Hiei opened his eyes to stare up into those of his lover's. How many times had he been woken up before in a similar fashion only to see Yusuke gazing down at him with that heated gaze? Far too many for him not to know what was coming but the question was, was he ready to give into the Toushin's desires so quickly? "What do..."

"Shhh.. let me touch you Hiei." Yusuke hesitated only a moment before lowering his lips to the apparition's neck, tasting the tender flesh that was bared so enticingly. The fact that the demon could have refused his advances but hadn't only prompted him to go further. Slowly his hand traveled lower, slipping beneath the waistband of those black boxers to caress the sensitive skin that was hidden from view. It had been far too long but his fingers traveled the memorized paths along the sensitive skin as if all the missed time had never passed bringing a groan not only from the lips of Hiei but from Yusuke's as well. "Tell me you haven't missed this."

Despite the soft tone the detective had used Hiei heard him clearly and bit his lower lip to keep from letting Yusuke know just how much he'd longed for the touches he was receiving now. His body however easily betrayed those needs, his hips flexing beneath the skilled touch demanding firmer contact. A low chuckle whispered across Hiei's ear letting him know that his lover wasn't fooled by his attempts at concealing just how much he was enjoying what Yusuke was doing to him. It would seem that the Toushin was willing to go one step further in an effort to get him to break, slowly pulling his hand away but Hiei gripped his wrist firmly and stopped the hand from withdrawing. "Don't you dare stop."

"I wouldn't dream of it." Amusement colored his voice as Yusuke began trailing his lips down the apparition's heaving chest. stopping long enough to swirl his tongue around one of his nipples causing the smaller demon's body to shudder almost violently. Grinning Yusuke closed his teeth on the tender bud and pulled before releasing it once again to blow gently on the abused flesh. Feeling the grip on his wrist loosen Yusuke quickly pulled his hand free in spite of the growl he received for doing so."Just wait..." Knowing that Hiei wouldn't wait long he made his move, gripping the waistband and dragging the garment down to reveal his intended target that he had been waiting so long for.

Obligingly the apparition lifted his hips in order to help his lover undress him, impatience was beginning to get the better of him but he didn't have long to wait. Within moments Yusuke had pulled the garment free and tossed it to the floor before settling comfortably between his legs. The first touch of those sinful lips against his member had his breath catching and he was unable to look away as Yusuke's tongue slid along the underside of his erection. The man seemed to delight in tormenting him by keeping his movements slow and teasing. Fed up with the pace that Yusuke was setting Hiei brought his hands up, ready to bury them in the Toushin's hair and take the pleasure that was being dangled just out of his reach. The plan fell short however when Yusuke seized his hands, pinning them to the bed as a smirk crossed his face.

"Now now Hiei, you can't ruin my fun just yet. I have five years of waiting to make up for. This is only the beginning." Forestalling any more protests he moved quickly to the side so he had room to work. Deftly he flipped his lover over onto his stomach and spread the apparition's legs, enjoying the sight spread out before him. Knowing that he would soon be burying himself inside of those welcoming depths had him licking dry lips in anticipation. Gently he massaged the taut muscles of the hybrid's lower back before moving lower. A low moan reached his ears as his fingers traced along the sensitive skin between those pale cheeks briefly caressing the opening that was even now begging to be taken. "Is this what you wanted Hiei?"

Eagerly Hiei pressed his erection firmly against the mattress in an effort to relieve some of the ache as Yusuke's hand disappeared. Within moments it was back but this time the fingers were slick as they pressed slowly into his body. When the Toushin repeated the question Hiei was forced to answer, "Yesssss Yusuke...." His voice sounded strained to his own ears, thick with both the pleasure and the slight pain that was being inflicted upon him. Years might have passed since they had last been together but there was no way he was going to ask Yusuke to go any slower. Eagerly he pushed against the mans hands, silently urging him onwards as the fingers disappeared deeper inside his body.

Carefully he urged the apparition up onto his knees while continuing to prepare the man for what was to come, easily sliding a second finger into him. By now Hiei was panting, eagerly rocking back against his fingers as his erection dripped salty fluid onto the mattress beneath him. It was easy to see just how quickly he could send the apparition over the edge but Yusuke didn't want him to reach his peak just yet. Already Hiei had steadied himself on one hand, reaching towards his cock with his free hand intent on bringing himself the ultimate pleasure. "Oh no Hiei, don't you dare touch it. Not yet." For a moment the hand hesitated, as if Hiei were debating whether or not he wanted to chance defying the barked order. Knowing that Hiei needed to be convinced Yusuke brushed his fingers against the apparition's sweet spot, causing him to throw his head back and cry out. "Is that what you wanted Hiei? Tell me, tell me what you want. Tell me what you need."

Crimson eyes burned with a fierce, undisguised need as Hiei looked over his shoulder at the man taking sadistic pleasure in keeping him right on the edge. Blood dripped down his chin where sharp fangs had pierced the skin in an effort to silence his cries. "You bastard!" Another firm brush against his sweet spot had him crying out, shuddering with the need to reach his peak but as before he was denied. To add to the torture Yusuke's hand had closed around his erection, stroking it much too slowly for his preference. "I want... you.. to fuck me. Now Yusuke!" He meant the words to be harsh but there was no mistaking the whine building deep within his chest. How much more of this could he take? "Ahh!" A third finger was added with no warning, stretching him brutally for the intrusion that would soon follow but he welcomed the slight pain. It calmed him just slightly though he was still quivering with need. "More Yusuke, I can't wait any longer!"

Yusuke wasted no time in pulling his fingers free and pulling Hiei up against his chest. "I'll give it to you Hiei but only when I'm good and ready." Roughly he pushed the apparition to the bed, forcing him onto his back and hooking his arms beneath Hiei's knees. It was difficult to maintain control as the smaller demon writhed against him, trying to force him to make a move. "Holds your legs for me Hiei and you'd better spread them wide. I want a good view of your ass as I push my cock into you." Yusuke hadn't thought it was possible but he grew even harder as the apparition eagerly complied with his demand. Slowly the Toushin worked his fingers along the tip of his own taut length, spreading the slick fluid that would ease his entrance. It was a pity they had no lube but neither one of them were willing to wait any longer than necessary. Slowly he rested the tip against the apparition's puckered entrance, pushing forward slightly pulling a wanton groan from the man before withdrawing once more. "You know what I want Hiei. Tell me how much you want me."

"Paybacks... a bitch Yusuke. Just remember that!" Hiei panted as he tried to force the erection so tantalizing close into himself but Yusuke seemed to be determined on this front and was now rubbing that tip in teasing circles while running a finger up and down his length slowly driving him insane. "I.. I need you to fuck me. Yusuke please!" The tension had become unbearable Yusuke fisted his hand around his painful erection before slamming himself in to the hilt. A scream of pleasure was torn from his throat as the Toushin moved deeper within him. The line between pleasure and pain was no longer distinguishable as their bodies melded against each other, both moving at a frenzied pace, each striving towards release.

Yusuke seized the apparition's lips, plunging his tongue into Hiei's mouth as his lover released his legs in order to wrap them around his body. Nails scored his back but the pain went ignored as he pressed more firmly against the apparition, driving even deeper into Hiei's body than he'd thought possible. Gods how he had missed this, feeling Hiei wrapped around him so tightly and even though he knew he wouldn't last much longer Yusuke sought to draw out each and every pleasurable moment. Hiei's muscles spasmed and tightened their grip around his member driving him to an increased surge of energy, never could he have imagined the heights of pleasure he was now being driven to. Yusuke was so close to going over the edge and it wouldn't take much for Hiei to reach his end as well but he didn't want it to end quite so quickly. Slowing himself down for mere moments and pulling almost fully out of his lover he grinned at the whimper the action elicited, knowing that he would catch hell for this later. "Was there something you wanted Hiei?" Firm hands gripped his hips, tugging him forward even as he braced himself against the pull for another few moments. Beneath him Hiei writhed, his eyes clenched and his mouth opened in a silent scream as he surged forward once more.

"This is it. Take it now." Frantically Yusuke moved against his lover, pulling forth a cry from the apparition's lips with each thrust of his hips. With a final whimper Hiei climaxed around his aching length and the tight muscles holding him so tightly was what finally pushed him over the edge. His throbbing member, having long been denied of its own needs spilled its contents deep inside the man's body as Yusuke gave a final scream of ecstasy. Slowly they both relaxed though neither made any attempt to move as they panted harshly against each other.

After several long moments Yusuke pulled free from him and rolled over onto his side with a cocky grin on his face which nearly had Hiei rolling his eyes. This wasn't exactly how he'd imagined their first time together after all their time apart. Already it seemed as if the Toushin was ready for another round which had Hiei chuckling darkly in anticipation. Taking a firm grip on Yusuke's hand, Hiei forced the former detective onto his back and stared down on him with a hungry look, enjoying the stunned expression on his lover's face. "I don't think so Detective. This time your ass is mine."

Outside the door, Mukuro leaned against the wall with a small smile on her face. Though she hadn't anticipated them reconciling so quickly she was actually happy to see it. Perhaps now Hiei could let the feelings of hurt and betrayal go and begin moving forward once again. "I'm happy for you Hiei but make no mistake, if he ever hurts you again I'll send him to hell myself." With those words the wards were banished and she walked away from the room, secure in the knowledge that one way or another Hiei would be fine.
