Chapter 9 Fooling the Stupid, and Surprising the Strong

( I know its kinda after Thanks Giving, but I was waiting to update for Special reasons…And I'm pretty sure one of my reviewers knows what that is!^____^)

The demon jumps in the air slightly, and is about to cut the tree, when he does, Vera was no longer standing there. She was now up high in another tree. She had no clue how she even was able to get up there. She looked down from where she was, and sees the boy with the eagle wings attack the demon. The demon blocks the attack, then, suddenly falls to the ground bleeding heavily.

The boy turns to Vera. Vera just looks down, with the unmistaken look of curiosity and relief in her eyes. Suddenly the boy was gone, then was right at her side. She jumped back a little, and almost fell of the tree.

"sorry, *smile* didn't mean to startle you." Vera sits up straight. "who are you?" she asks. `she truly doesn't remember me…` "my name is Erin…"

Something inside Vera jumped in joy at the sound of his name. "I'm---" "I know, your Vera." Vera was taken aback by this. `how does he know my name?` Vera suddenly sighs loudly and looks down at the ground bellow her then back up at Erin, the ground, then Erin, the ground, then Erin, the ground, then Erin, the ground, then Erin. She smiles slyly, and stands up. But then loses the smile when she sees the demon stand up, after it had been clearly killed.

"dahhhhh that things alive!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!*pointing and waving arms up and down rapidly*" Erin looks startled at the sudden yelling and flapping of arms. "what?!"

"I said that things ALIVE!!!!!" Vera takes a step forward towards the end of the branch. But then was pulled back. "stay here…" Erin suddenly disappeared and was again fighting the demon.

"you can't kill me!!! Every time you slice me, I simply heal up." (not immortal) "then I'll just have to find another way to kill you now won't I?" Even though things seemed impossible now, Erin just smirked and went and readied himself to strike.

Vera was watching with a worried look on her face. `darn it! If you strike him…. He'll simply heal!!!! My brains not big enough to be thinking that far yet!!!` The sound of swords was heard. `wait… he can't be sliced… heal simply heal the wound…. But if he wasn't sliced in any way…. But merely touched… maybe then… YAH!!!!!! I got an idea…. But how am I going to get down from here?`

Vera watched as Erin dodged an attack. He got the demon on the arm. But, the cut healed up and lift nothing, not a scar, nothing.

Vera looks franticly around for a way to get down. `only thing to do is jump…. Maybe if I jump and land on the demon…. I'll be ok…` She walks back over to the edge of the branch, and waited for the demon to get under her.

Erin striked, and the demon jumps back, then it attacks and Erin dodges, and now Erin was under Vera; Erin attacks the demon, and then jumps back, the demon walks forward a little. Then stops right under Vera. But something stopped Vera from jumping. The demon had this weird energy starting up around him. It was strong. The demons hands started to glow a green color.

` I've gota go now… before its to late` Vera takes a big breath, and jumps. After at least 7 seconds, she landed right on top of the demon. The demons attack ended and wasn't complete; but when he hit the ground, he hit it with such forth, that dust formed around him when he hit the ground.

When the dust cleared, Vera was sitting on the demons back looking like @_@. "*sigh* I told you to stay up there!" Erin says. "I know what you said, but I got a smart idea!" Vera attempts to go over to Erin to tell him her plan, but the demon grabs hold of her ankle. He stands up and forces her arms to her back with one hand, and puts his sword to her neck. "VERA!" Erin screams out, he walks forward. "move any closer, and the girl gets it." Vera tried to free her hands from the demons grasp, but he was just to strong.

"*steps a little closer* give her to me now!" Erin says angrily. "*forces the sword at her neck* step any closer…" the demon threatens. `why didn't I stay in the tree again?`

"you foolish girl, you should of stayed in your little hiding place… so what do you have to say for yourself?" he asks. "your breath stinks like rotten cheese and rotted eggs mixed together…" Erin chuckles at your comment. The demon puts the sword forcefully again to her throat. "anything nice you'd like to say?" he asks again. "in my pocket, there should be a breath mint."

"THAT'S IT!!!! YOU INSULTING SLUT!!!!" He forces the sword so forcefully to Vera's neck, that she started to bleed slightly. She winces at the pain. "DON'T CALL HER A SLUT!!!" Erin yells out, it was quite noticeable now that he was getting angry. `it hurts…. But not as worse as what my father did to me…` Vera sighs loudly, which surprised Erin, and that demon. Vera stomps on the demons foot, and the demon yells out in pain, letting her go.

Vera quickly runs behind the demon before the demon could see where she had gone. "nighty night!!!" She says outa the blue, she puts her fingers on both sides of his neck, hitting the pressure points, and killing him instantly. Erin was like 0.0, Vera just smiled sheepishly, then threw a fist in the air.

"MY PLAN WHICH I COULDN'T TELL YOU WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!" Vera smiled triumphantly.

`she still has her odd ways -_-` He walks up to her and analyzes the cut on her neck, it was small, but deep and bleeding heavily. He notices that she was starting to breath more heavily. "here, I'll carry you back to Genkai's." before Vera could protest, she was already being carried.

AN HOUR LATER!!!!

"at least you succeeded in killing that demon…" Yusuke says in a rough voice, he wasn't to pleased at how Vera had gotten a scratch on her neck. (again, just like an older brother…. What is up with that? Why am I asking you?*sigh* to many pixy sticks for meh…. And… hey… I WANT MORE PIXIE STICKS!!!!!!)

"she ended up killing him for you," Genkai says smirking, "that's what you were supposed to do…kill the demon."

"MAN YOUR WINGS ARE AWESOME!!!!" Alyssa yells out randomly while playing with Erin's wings. "STOP TOUCHING MY FREAKING WINGS!!!" Erin yells at her, making her cringe.

"Hiei, your freak'n little sister is starting to bug me." Erin says while whacking Alyssa on the head after she went at his wings. But she simply kept going at them. He finally gets fed up and whacks her with his wings. "THE WINGS ATTACKED ME!!! HIEI SAVE ME !!!" "-_-"

Vera couldn't do or say anything while Genkai bandaged up Vera's neck. "Vera, you should watch what you say, this wouldn't of happened if you kept your mouth shut."

Genkai finished bandaging her and stood up. "its not my fault he asked those questions… if he never asked, I would'a never said." Vera says stretching and yawning. It was now truly dark outside.

"Vera, I've decided not to let you go outside and sleep, its now to dangerous knowing that now the demon who is after you still from all those years ago is sending demons who can't me harmed." Genkai says while picking up Felix, who was rubbing up against Genkai's leg. "awwww! He likes you now!!^__^" Vera smiled while Alyssa frowned. "he made his point that he didn't want his mouth stuffed with chocolate." she said while eating another piece of chocolate.

"if I can't sleep outside, then where am I going to sleep?" Vera asks looking around. "on the couch." Genkai says flatly. "do I get a blanket?" Genkai disappears into a closet next to the kitchen. She steps out and closes the door, and tosses a soft blanket at her. "here, these should be warm enough." Vera just walked over to the couch and mumbled thank you.

And of course, Kuwabara happened to be laying there. "Kazuma get up." She says flatly. He didn't budge, he was asleep. "I said get up Kazuma…" she says, trying to be nice. "Kuwabara, if you don't get your butt off this couch, I will turn you inside out and will tear off your organs and sell them to drug dealers." Everyone was surprised that she had said this, except for Erin, Hiei, and Yusuke. "*snore*" Vera started to boil. "Kuwabara… I'm warning you, if you don't get you lazy butt up…"

Yusuke and Erin were starting to laugh, and were slowly moving their hands to their ears. "Kaaaazzzummmmaaaaaaa! I'm really sleepy, so I'm asking nicely, get your butt up before I kick it up!"

Erin and Yusuke were on the brink of exploding when they heard this. They knew what was coming, but the others were clueless, to young to be deaf… except Genkai.

"KAZUMA KUWABARA!!!!! I SAID GET YOU LAZY, SLEEPING, GOING TO BE SORE AND NUMB IN THE MORNING BUTT UP!!!!!!! OR ELSE I'LL GET YOU UP MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Everyone was @_@ and most likely had a ringing noise in their ears. Kuwabara jolted up, took one look at Vera's ticked off sleepy expression, and ran off screaming. Erin and Yusuke burst into laughter. "*growl* onna just go the hell to sleep." Hiei was ticked off at Vera. "looks like you need to go to bed to, grumpy…" she says while flopping down on the couch.

"I'm drowning in a everlasting pool of sleepiness!!!! SO I'M GOING TO FALL ASLEEP!!!! AND DON'T WAKE ME UP!!!!!" She yells the last part while looking at Yusuke who was whistling. "I'll make sure they don't do anything to you!" Alyssa says "reassuringly".

Vera pulls the blankets over herself, and closes her eyes. `wow… I never thought all this stuff could happen in one day… maybe they'll explain more to me of who Erin is tomorrow….`

Then, she slowly drifts off into a dream filled sleep.

DREAMING!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~* ~*

Vera finds herself standing in the middle of a forest. But, she wasn't alone; there were 2 other people standing with her. One was Erin, and the other was a girl.

"Vera…what your going to do is crazy!! I can't let you do this!" Erin yells out. `…that girls me?` "but Erin, it's the only way!" She yells out. "I don't care, it's to dangerous!!"

Erin looked mad, but Vera was still confused as to what they were fighting over.

"but Erin, it's the only way!!! I can turn things around…" She was looking desperate, but had a fierce look on her face. "do your brothers know of this?" he asks.

"no…" "well, don't you think you should tell them before you go off and do it?" he asks. "if I do, they'll find a way to stop me from going…" she looks at the ground.

"DAMN IT VERA!!!!! YOUR TO DARN STUBBORN!!! YOU MIGHT END UP LOSING YOUR MEMORIES… OR EVEN WORSE!!!!! DIEING!!!!!!!!" Erin looked really pissed off. "WOULDN'T YOU WANT A CHANCE… JUST TO MAKE THINGS THE WAY THEY WERE BEFORE?! ANOTHER CHANCE TO CHANGE THE WRONG THING YOU DID!!!!??? TO RELIVE A MOMENT WHEN YOU WERE HAPPY!!!!" she yells at him. Erin made a fist. "YES!!!!!! OF COURSE I HAVE!!!!!!!!! BUT YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THAT YOU CAN'T CHANGE THINGS!!!!! WHAT'S HAPPENED HAS HAPPENED!!!!! WHO DIED, DIED!!!!! WHO RAN AWAY, RAN AWAY!!! THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!!"

She was on the brink of tears. "Erin… you haven't been through what I have been through… and if you did… you would take the chances of losing your memory… or even dieing… to make things the way they were before…"

"Vera… I don't want to lose the first person who ever understood me…. the one who ever first cared the hell about me… my first friend…" Erin wasn't about to cry, but his eyes were leading. "and what will the others think, when in the morning your not there…" he says looking her straight in the eyes. "an what will I tell Trako? That you went off on an early morning walk… and what if you don't return? Will I tell him you went on a trip somewhere? OR SHOULD I TELL HIM THE TRUTH!!! THAT YOU LOST YOUR MEMORY AND ARE MOST LIKELY DEAD?!"

`who's Trako?` "*smiling warmly* Erin… I promise…I won't die while in the process of doing what I'm doing… I won't die before I see you again."

But, before Erin had the chance to say anything, there was a huge explosion, it sent Vera flying into a tree, and Erin flew up into the air. The thing that had caused it, was human, but at the same time looked demon.

"stupid girl…" it said. "called upon me, just to revive a bat demon… how truly foolish…" The girl was unconscious. "I have revived him… and I have chosen, to end your misery… and kill you… but, I feel pity for you… so I will merely wipe out all memories, and send you to the human world, and into the womb of a human mother."

Erin flies in and tries to take the girl from the demon. But failed and the demon slammed him into a tree.

"*mumbles something in a different language*" There was a bright light. `NOOOO!!!!'` "Ve…ra…" Then the girl turned into a small floating spirit energy ball, it had an eerie mist around it. And it floated off. "NO!" Vera screams out.

END OF DREAM!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Vera was being shaken forcefully, she opens her eyes and sees Erin, Kurama, and Hiei. "are you ok?" Kurama asks softly. Vera just nods. She felt cold, but then again burning hot. "what were you dreaming about?"

Vera looks over at Hiei. For once, he looked at her with eyes that weren't cold, they just dug into hers. `crimson eyes` she thought. "i---it was nothing…" she says while sitting up.
