Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Darkness of the Spirit ❯ Introduction to the Story ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
"THE question as to the nature of evil is by far the most important problem for philosophical, religious, and moral consideration. The intrinsic presence of suffering is the most obvious feature that determines the character of existence throughout, but gives at the same time origin to the most important blessings that make life worth living. It is pain that sets thoughts to thinking; a state of undisturbed happiness would make reflection, inquiry, and invention redundant. It is death which begets the aspiration of preserving oneself beyond the grave. Without death there would be no religion. And it is sin that imparts worth to virtue. If there were no going astray, there would be no seeking for the right path; there would be no merit in goodness. Blame and praise would have no meaning. In this absence of want, imperfection, and all kinds of ill, there would be no ideals, no progress, no evolution to higher goals."
-The History of Evil, Paul Carus
Hello, all! This is Seiryu666, here to make a proposal.
I'm in the process of writing a Yuyu Hakusho fanfiction involving a second Dark Tournament, yet I would like your input into this. To go further, I would like you to submit characters so that this can be a detailed story. After all, it'd be rather difficult to make up roughly 20+ characters AND make a decent plot line. (And if you are one of those authors that can do this, I bow to greater talent.)
In any case, I would like you to send me your characters using this little sheet to fill in the following information.
Name: (The name of your character)
Nickname: (Self-explanatory)
Age: (Self-explanatory)
Height: (Self-explanatory)
Weight: (Self-explanatory)
Alignment
There are nine different alignments one can choose from:
Lawful Good: A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. They combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. They tell the truth, keep their word, help those in need, and speak out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished.
Neutral Good: A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others and will works with others but does not feel beholden to them.
Chaotic Good: A chaotic good character acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but hes kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society.
Lawful Neutral: A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs her. Order and organization are paramount to her. She may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or she may believe in order for all.
Neutral: A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesnt feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil-after all, she would rather have good neighbors than evil ones. Still, shes not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality, seeing good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run.
Chaotic Neutral: A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesnt strive to protect others freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral character does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others) or evil (and a desire to make those different from himself suffer). A chaotic neutral character may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it.
Lawful Evil: A lawful evil villain methodically takes what he wants within the limits of his code of conduct without regard for whom it hurts. He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He condemns others not according to their actions but according to social rank and such factors.
Despite his evil nature, a lawful evil person is loath to break laws or promises. This reluctance comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. Some lawful evil villains have particular taboos, such as not killing in cold blood (but having underlings do it) or not letting children come to harm (if it can be helped). They imagine that these compunctions put them above unprincipled villains.
Neutral Evil: A neutral evil villain does whatever she can get away with. She is out for herself, pure and simple. She sheds no tears for those she kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. She has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make her any better or more noble. On the other hand, she doesnt have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has. Some neutral evil villains hold up evil as an ideal, committing evil for its own sake. Most often, such villains are devoted to evil deities or secret societies.
Chaotic Evil: A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. If he is simply out for whatever he can get, he is ruthless and brutal. If he is committed to the spread of evil and chaos, he is even worse. Thankfully, his plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together only by force.

For example, here is the bio for my OC, Raphael:
Name: Raphael
Nickname: Aristocratic Assassin
Age: 22
Height: 6 feet, 1 inch
Weight: 190 pounds
Alignment: Neutral
Spirit Energy Type: Rai Kouki, a mixture of lightning and holy energy.
Demon Type: Tai-Youkai
Smarts: Quite intelligent, and a genius at figuring out fighting styles and martial art techniques. A very skilled strategist, regardless of what he may be doing or looking at, Raphael always seems to know what's happening around him. He's extremely observant of his surroundings and reacts very quickly to respond to them.
Looks: Handsome with a boyish charm, Raphael has long, silky ebony hair, deep blue eyes and a fairly muscular build.
Personality: Very pleasant, Raphael is nearly always smiling, and has a love for philosophy, fighting and nature. When someone he cares for is in danger, however, the demon can show a serious (and vicious) side. Being a gentle person at heart, Raphael will put his life on the line for those he loves.
Flaws: Raphael can show slight bouts of depression on rare occasions and will close his feelings towards others sometimes. He can also be aloof to the point of being cold sometimes.
Combat Style: When engaged in battle, Raphael is always calm. He dodges attacks so easily it's like second nature to him, and can be in an entirely different point of space from a moment ago. Giving his speed even more advantage is his capability to control his body by levitating maneuvering mid-air with the same kind of grace. From mid-air, he can continue to attack while making it difficult for his opponents to reach him.
Fighting Style: Resshuuken
The fighting style used by rogue Spirit Detective Shinobu Sensui, Resshuuken is a special brand of martial arts that relies on fast footwork. The fighter maintains his position while diverting attacks with his arms, then retaliates with powerful kicks. A person can only master this technique if they've mastered at least ten other martial arts styles.
Special Abilities: A genius in controlling and manipulating Spirit Energy, Raphael can control two different types of Spirit Energy: Raiki (Lightning Energy) and Seiki (Saint Energy). When he chooses to combine the two together, he forms his own version of Sacred Energy.
Class Level: A+
Friends: Jin, Touya, Chuu, Rinku, Kurama, Kuwabara, Koto
Friendly Rivals: Yusuke Urameshi & Shinobu Sensui
Best Friend: Natsume Theyve been best friends since childhood and is one of the few that can handle the fiery, outgoing, independent female. (In a way, hes to Natsume what Keiko is to Yusuke, minus a good portion of the nagging.)
Enemies: None living; Raphael has slain all those who have come after him with dark intent
Quote: "Good and evil are nothing but a human effort to try and release themselves from the laws of the universe and exist in this universe forever - like all other beings. 'Good', in fact, is something that could increase the span of one's existence; whilst 'Bad' is something that could shorten it. Nothing other than that."
If anyone wants to, they can use Raphael for their love interest. (Just a thought, anyway)
