Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Demon Dance ❯ Sacrafice ( Chapter 14 )
Bullets fell like rain as Camber's final task force attempted to win the day. The youkai ducked to either side of the doorway, watching ammunition fly past them to destroy what remained of the corridor. They waited and didn't move from their small havens until . . . click click click.
"Aw . . . did you run out of bullets?" They stepped out from behind the doorway, wearing matching grins that held no mercy, only to be surprised beyond belief.
"Fire!" Energy blasts slammed into a hasty shield, making it buckle under the stress of it all. Saika snarled, fighting to keep it up while Ifurita tried to create a diversion.
"I can't keep this up forever," the wolf growled, giving ground in an attempt to delay their demise a little more. The barrage paused for a moment, but the shield did not fall.
{:You can't but I can.:} Aka intruded. {:Forgive me Skyre. But this is something I must do.:} Without any explanation, Skyre was flung to the far reaches of their mind and trapped there. She banged her mental fists against her prison but to no avail. Akahoshi was in control now and would not relinquish that.
{:Aka! Stop this. Let me help you. You can win on your own.:} She could see Camber's men charging their weapons for a second assault. Aka couldn't win. {:Aka!:} Guns were raised and shots fired, but none reached them. A barrier had been risen to protect them, Aka's very life force flowing into it to, to the point it was killing her. {:AKA!!!:}
{:Live my friend. I do this for you . . .
{:Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
Maybe someday you'll have wake up,
And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one:
"Isn't something missing?"
You won't cry for my absence, I know -
You forgot me long ago.
Am I that unimportant...?
Am I so insignificant...?
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Even though I'd be sacrificed,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?
Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
I know what you do to yourself,
Shudder deep and crying:
"Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?"
Even though I'd be sacrificed,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?
And if I bleed, I'll bleed,
Knowing you don't care.
And if I sleep just to dream of you
And wake without you there,
Isn't something missing?
Isn't something...
Even though I'd be sacrificed,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?:}
{:Akahoshi . . .:} That other mind vanished and took her mental bonds with her. "AKAHOSHI!" she screamed, the ragged sound tearing at her throat. Skyre slumped to her knees, the silence in her head deafening. Her face became dead with only equally silent tears streaming down her cheeks, like tiny waterfalls. She did not sob, she did not move. The barrier faded from view and Camber smiled.
"Not that the little whelp is gone, we can finish this rather bothersome pest," he sneered. It was the last thing he would ever say. Gunshots rang again the chamber, but all missed their mark. Skyre had vanished, moving too fast for anything to detect, appearing again behind on guard to thrust her fist through his heart.
"You killed her," she whispered coldly. "You all did. Now you will suffer." That voice, even colder then Ifurita's powers, chilled the souls of the men around her, making them think twice. Not that they had time to. Her lighting movements allowed her to kill them all before a counterstrike could even be thought of, either snapping their necks, or ripping out their hearts. Soon only Camber remained to face her. He cowered against one wall, unable to perceive what had happened.
"There are no more little soldiers to protect you Camber. You are mine." Her eyes blazed with all of her emotional turmoil as she dashed forward, clutching his skull with both hands. "This is what you made me Camber. Now you get to die." A tear slid down her jaw as she brought her hands together, crushing his head into a pulp. Bits of bone and brain tissue rained onto the headless corpse as it fell to the floor. With a painful sob, she gave into the anguish, clutching at her chest as she fell to her knees once more, each wail tearing through her body. She didn't hear the door open behind her. She did hear anyone come to her side. She could only hear the endless silence in her head, the only testament to the one that had filled it with laughter and sound.

" . . .and the real problem was that Aka had become real."
"Real?"
"Yes. When their mind split into two separate entities, they could have been restored without much trouble. But the problem is that they shared control of one body, letting each piece evolve into a separate mind with an individual soul to go with it."
"That's impossible!"
`That's what we all thought, but apparently it is not. I only hope that she can, or has the will to, survive without her other half."
Those voices talked as though Skyre wasn't there. The cationic wolf youkai didn't care. For the most part she didn't even hear them. Her sorrow was too great for her to even think. She only hurt. And those words . . . so empty . . . they meant NOTHING to her. Those words wouldn't bring back Aka. She sobbed, burying her head into the pillow she clutched at in the dead of night. She found no comfort in it, but didn't know what else to do. None of her training had ever prepared her for this. How could it? With the increasing weight of despair on her mind, she howled her pain out loud, utterly lost and without hope.

Author here. I just wanted to let you know that the song is Missing by Evanescence. I know I do a lot of Evanescence songs, but they fit what I'm looking for at the time.
