A Visitor

Reina woke up the next morning with the sound of birds chirping. She glanced at her clock and it read 6:03 am. Well, it looks like a good morning. Then she remembered that Hiei came back last night and disappeared to his room, which was next to hers. Rei literally threw her blankets off and stood up to stretch. She quickly changed into jean shorts and a red short-sleeved shirt. Kurama and Genkai were probably the only ones awake right now. Hiei might be also. I heard he was an early bird. Rei was an early bird, but she could stay up for two days. It was a trait that she thought special. As she left her room she saw Kurama and Genkai, just like she predicted but Hiei wasn't there. “Good morning!” she said cheerfully.

“Well, good morning Reina. You seem happier today for some reason,” Kurama spoke.

“I was just glad to actually sleep in a bed instead of the cement floor.

My back feels so much better than before you know!”

“I'm glad you feel better. Would you like some tea?” Kurama asked. She nodded. While Kurama was pouring some tea Rei sat down next to him. Genkai was next to start up the conversation.

“So, how do you like my home?”

“Oh, it's fantastic! I really am grateful for you letting me stay here. I promise to work hard to earn my keep.” Genkai laughed a little old lady laugh.

“You don't need to work. You're the guest. Kurama, I think she's might be more polite than you. I wouldn't expect a princess to want to work.”

“Yes, my uncle and aunt always told me that work was for the servants, not for royalty. I never did listen to that rule much though.” She took a sip of the tea. “It's delicious, Kurama.”

“Thank you. I never really receive compliments on how I make it, but I'm glad you like it.”

“ Can I ask you something?”

“Of course. What's on your mind?”

“Well, I heard that Hiei was usually up early in the morning, but I think I could sense him still in his room.” Kurama smiled a little one. Genkai just drank her tea.

“I don't know what he is doing, but I am curious as well. I'm sorry but I can't answer you that one yet. He usually doesn't even sleep in his own room.”

“Oh, well, maybe he isn't feeling well.” Kurama chuckled under his breath.

“You seem to have a caring heart.”

“Yeah, I can't help it either. My uncle also said that I shouldn't be so caring. They may not be the ideal guardian but they're really all I have.”

“Alright, enough with the mushy stuff. You're making me sick.” Genkai blurted out. Rei giggled and Kurama laughed as Genkai left the room. Yusuke and Kuwabara are obviously still asleep. And Hiei is as well. I don't know what I should do for today. And she still didn't know what to do to occupy her time. Hours passed by though it seemed like minutes. It was now 2:00 PM. Yusuke and Kuwabara were now up and arguing mostly, but Hiei to Rei's disappointment was nowhere to be seen. She tried not to think about it and listened to the boys argue.

“Urameshi, you ate the last of the Lucky Bunny Flakes!” Kuwabara yelled.

“I didn't you idiot! Why would I even eat that crap with a bunny on the box!” Yusuke said in return.

“Well, you have a soft side just like a little bunny rabbit!”

“Take that back!”
“Guys, guys! It's ok! Kuwabara, nobody ate your cereal. We can always buy you more cereal at the store.” Rei tried reasoning with them. They both settled down and nodded their heads. She smiled. Her smile seemed to fade as she saw a short figure walk past them to the cupboard. The two guys also noticed this as well.

“Hey Hiei. Where have you been?” Yusuke asked. The fire demon just ignored him as he poured himself some green tea. The others just watched him pretty much gulp down the drink and grab a bottle of water from the fridge. Then he walked back to his room. The three were just standing trying to process what had happened. “Ok, that was weird.”

“I think I'll agree with you on that, Urameshi.” Kuwabara said.

Rei was agreeing with them too, in her mind. He just comes out and then goes back in. I hope everything is ok.

“Well, I'm going to the store. Anything you guys want there?” Kuwabara asked for his cereal and Yusuke asked for pop. She then asked Kurama to come with her. Next she decided to ask Genkai. All she wanted was some green tea. Yukina needed some bandages. Last was Hiei. Rei was a little scared to go in his room at his state. She walked quietly to his room and knocked on his door. She didn't know if he would let her in anyway, but to her surprise she heard him say come in. As Rei opened the door she saw that it was very dark. The only light was from the window. Hiei was sitting on his bed finishing his water bottle. He smashed it down and threw it at the wall. It stuck there like a knife in a watermelon. She stood there in a little stated of shock.

“What do you want?” He asked quietly. Rei was having trouble making the words come out of her mouth.

“I just wanted to know what you needed. Kurama and I were going to the store and I thought you might need something.” He was still staring at the wall. There was a moment of silence. “Well, if you don't need,”

“Could you buy some water?” She turned her head to his and he was looking at her. “Well, the old lady is almost out and all.” She smiled at him, which made him blush in the inside.

“Sure! I'll buy a large pack so you won't run out!” She practically ran out of his room. He sat there staring at the door she closed. Rei was smiling as she closed the door. Well, that went better than expected. I wish he could be that nice all the time, especially to the others. Kurama and she finally left the temple. It was nice once in a while for her to be out walking in public for her. The walk back to the temple seemed a little harder since they had to carry groceries up the steps. The time was now at least 5:23 PM. Good! I was able to find everything that I needed. Now I think I'll tell Hiei that his water is in the fridge. She quietly walked up to his door and knocked a few times. He didn't seem to answer so Rei opened it a little bit. It only took her a couple of steps to realize that he was sleeping in his bed. Rei smiled hoping that a good long rest is what he needed to help him with whatever was troubling him. Rei found a piece of paper and a pencil in his room. Then she wrote a little note for him about the water. Hiei will probably read this when he wakes up. She left the room as quiet as she could be. The day passed with no interruptions.

Genkai looked up from drinking her tea. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Rei looked at her with a puzzled look.

“What is it?” Kurama asked. Genkai sipped some of the tea.

“We have a visitor,” she simply said. Right as she said that Hiei came out from hiding and was waiting at the door.

“Hey shrimp! Where have you been? It's the middle of the afternoon!” Kuwabara yelled. Hiei ignored him again like always. He just stood at the doorway. Kurama was a bit confused as well as to why Hiei was waiting there. Could he be waiting for this mysterious visitor? Who knows? Suddenly a figure in a black cloak appeared in front of the small fire demon.

“It's about time you came. You're late for some reason,” said Hiei.

“Well, it took a while for me to get everything together.” The figure gave Hiei a package. He took it and simply walked back to his room. “Gee, thanks for introducing me to everyone!” The other people in the room were all confused.

“Who are you?” Kurama finally asked. The figure looked at him and laughed a little. It was a girly laugh. The figure pulled back the hood to reveal…

Miko: ooh…a cliffhanger! YAY! Sry for not updating in a while. It took some time to write this cuz sometimes I was in the mood and sometimes I wasn't.

Hiei: you talk too much…

Miko: that was mean Hiei! I can't believe you would say that to me!

Hiei: it's just the truth…

Miko: fine! I'll just make sure u die in the next chappie!

Hiei: No wait! I didn't mean anything!

Miko: HA! I fooled you! I can't believe you feel for that!

Hiei: (Grips his katana)
