A door clicked shut and a young woman sighed at close to four in the morning. She crossed her bedroom floor to collapse on her bed, pulling off her clothes as she went. An evening gown fell from her shoulders, along with underthings, a pair of stockings, and a silver bracelet. With the bracelet gone, so were her illusions, showing her to be a young demon. With a sigh of content, she fell into the soft folds of her bed, finding a comfortable position and was asleep instantly.

Only to be rudely awakened only a few hours later around 7:15.

Why won't they go away? She buried her head under one pillow with a groan, refusing to answer the knock at the front door. After a time, it stopped and she sighed, finding a new position to sleep in when

Knock knock knock.

They will die. She rose, gathering three items: her bracelet, a lightweight robe, and a sword. The bracelet she snapped on into place, hiding her demon self. The robe was because she wasn't wearing a stitch as she slept. The sword was to make a point, one way or another. She jumped down the stairs to the front door of the three bedroom, two story house. Wrenching it open, she glared and raised her sword, before letting it fall to her side once more.

"This had better be important."

Skyre mulled over her fourth cup of coffee. She didn't usually drink coffee, but having had only two hours of sleep she needed every drop. She sighed, and rubbed at one throbbing temple.

"Go through it again one more time, and slowly," she pleaded, wishing desperately for some sleep. Kurama sighed from across the kitchen table where five demons now sat.

"We have a serious situation going on right now. Demons are somehow getting access to the rooms of children, are ripping them apart, and are seemingly vanishing into thin air. We need your help in stopping them before any more lives are lost." Hiei stood and began pacing again, not enjoying the kitchen one bit. It was understandable though, with all the wards they had placed around the house, and the kitchen most of all. The short fire demon held his usual scowl on his face, his ruby red eyes flashing dangerously.

"Hiei, just go outside or something," Ifurita finally snapped. Her black eyes held cold contempt for having been woken as such an unholy hour. The ice youkai ran a hand through her red and blond hair; her heart shaped face holding a scowl of her own. It was clear that her hands were itching to grasp some sort of weapon and set out at once from the constant fidgeting that she preformed.

The only one at the table without a frown and signs of worry was Angua. She too lived in the small house, her own cat features marking her as a fellow demon. She hosted ears and a tail like Skyre's but they were of a warm golden brown instead of Skyre's rusty crimson. Her shockingly blue hair was like a cloud around her face, much like everyone else's at the table. She yawned again, her blue eyes vanishing for a moment.

A warning growl came from a sixth person, a huge black wolf lying at Skyre's feet. The youkai reached down and scratch at the black ears absently. The wolf, easily close to the size of a small pony, stopped her growling and laid her head back down. Her gold eyes blazed with intelligence and her ebony coat shined even in the dim light of the kitchen. The beast sighed and the conversation continued.

"All right. Demons are running amok again. Why did you come to us? Can't you friends help you?" Angua questioned carefully. She had never met the Reiki Tantei and only heard of them a time or two. Skyre and Ifurita preferred to keep it that way. That was not a happy time for either of them.

But it did give me Akahoshi. Skyre cracked a smile and reached down again to scratch at that furry head again. {:You still awake down there?:}the youkai sent telepathically.

The spirit beast only raised one eyebrow. {:How can I not be with all of you blabbering on?:}She sighed and shifted on the tile.

"We came to ask the four of you for aid because our usual team is somewhat . . . divided right now." Kurama replied sheepishly. "I'm afraid Yusuke and Kuwabara both have exams soon and cannot afford to miss any school."

"You mean they can't afford miss anymore then they usually do." Ifurita grimaced over her mug of java. "Well, I don't see a problem with us helping out. It will be sporadic as to who will be helping though. We all have full time jobs to attend to as well as this newest demon infestation."

"That is all we ask for. Well, since we have no other business, Hiei and I will depart and let you ladies catch up on some sleep." Kurama rose and bowed before letting him and the fire youkai out into the early morning. As a group, they all let out a sigh and staggered off to their beds for a few hours more.
