Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Enter Amara: Hiei's Neurosis ❯ Too Good To Be True? ( Chapter 2 )
A/N- The first reviewer shall win one million dollars! *stares at screen* Fuck, I was so sure it would work! Oh well... I’ll just get on with it shall I?
Disclaimer- Tralalalalala! I’m away... riding on a fast, fast, camel! (aka I do not own, nor could I ever stand the chance of owning any or all of the YYH characters... I am not making money and the only peoples that I own are Amara and her mommy and in the future some minor characters like Miles...)
Warning- Yay! There was a lemon last chapter! There’s nothing really in here, not even a whole lot of cursing cause it just didn’t fit. There’s a bit of drinking though. I’m not a fan of alcohol... but whatever.
Summary for Story- Gone, like I said! Go back and read it if you don’t know!
Summary for Chapter- Hiei is working on reorganizing Scythe and tells Amara about how wonderful her life is about to become. He also mentions a surprise.
“Hiei, I have something I need to tell you...” She said taking a deep breath, ready to admit she was still involved with the Lai Organization.
“Can it wait? I have a surprise for you!” He seemed so excited that Amara laughed and wondered what else he could have possibly done for her. He’d already made the best promises in the world and given her so much she would be content if she dropped dead at that moment.
She sighed as she stared into his ruby eyes that were filled with so much enthusiasm. She never wanted them to look any different. Finally she said, “Okay, you go first.” She didn’t know that those words sealed their fate and that this was the last time she could look at Hiei and be completely happy.
Wow, so things are going to be getting intense soon! I hope it’s up to standards.
Enter Amara: Hiei’s Neurosis
Chapter Two
Too Good To Be True?
A few days passed and Amara felt the guilt forming a pit in her stomach. Hiei was away again and Kurama was over by himself. His mother had recently remarried and was off on her honeymoon, leaving Kurama in a slight depression. The pair of them held a glass vodka and cranberry juice in their hands, drinking until two bottles of the vodka had been drunk and only about three-quarters of the cranberry juice.
“I need to tell him soon,” Amara said, leaning her head against the coolness of the glass coffee table in the living room. “It’s driving me insane not to tell him.”
Kurama hiccupped. “I agree with you. Hiei should know you’re going up against Scythe soon...but don’t let him stop you from doing it. He may be your mate but he has no control over your actions.”
Amara slid from the couch and sat her empty glass on a coaster. “Yeah, I know he can’t, but if it really bothers him...”
Kurama downed the last of his drink. “You’ll do it anyway.”
She smiled. “There’s more in the kitchen...”
He smiled back. “No. Drinking is no way to solve my problem. I mean, with you, alcohol might make you brave enough to spill your guts...but what can I do? Shiori’s in Tahiti...”
Despite herself Amara laughed. “I’m sorry!” She said quickly when he glared. “But didn’t you say he was a nice guy?”
Kurama thought this over. He’d had no problem with it until now that the wedding had taken place. He laughed as well. “You’re right! I’m just being a jerk.”
Amara finished her laughing fit and stretched out. “I just hope all of this trouble will be behind us soon.”
“It will. And after it, we’ll all be able to rest for once.”
“Yeah...rest. I don’t remember what that’s like.”
They both burst into laughter again and put together a poor dinner for themselves. After the pair ate he left and Amara contented herself to a nice bubble bath with three bottles of blackberry merlot. Ever since she was younger she could hold her liquor but she knew in the morning she’d have one hell of a hangover.
“What am I to do about this,” she asked herself as the bubbles gathered around her and the warmth of the water almost scalded every inch of her skin. “I can’t let it continue like I have been... Eventually he’ll know I’m keeping something from him and then it’ll be worse. Sometimes I wish those Lai reps had never found me. But then, I might not have ever met Hiei, and that would be the worst thing possible. Damn all this stupid shit!”
The bottles of merlot were empty and Amara threw the last of it, which was in her glass, against the door. It shattered into hundreds of pieces and the beverage spread out about a foot in most directions. Tears filled her eyes and she hit the side of the tub for them. Looking weak was something she hated worse than Scythe. She brought her palms to her eyes, trying to push back the tears but it was no use. She couldn’t go on living like this.
“Tomorrow,” she said to herself. “I will tell him all of it tomorrow! He won’t stop me, not with whatever mission he’s been on lately. He might try, but there’s no way he can! Who knows? He might even support me in this...”
Hiei ran his hands through his hair. He hadn’t known taking over Scythe would mean so much paperwork and death. He let out a sigh and the boy who was helping him organize in hopes of getting in Hiei’s good graces looked up from his filing. “What’s wrong boss?”
Hiei smirked to himself. A lowlife bloodsucker was trying to comfort him. He wouldn’t say anything and make the boy cower. Then Amara’s happy face swam into his thoughts. He couldn’t let her down, not when he was so close. Instead of his previous plan, Hiei now chose to indulge the stupid lackey. “My mate, I am afraid she is not pleased and this is taking far too long. The whole point was to give her something to do to brighten her day, instead I feel she’s slipping into a deeper depression...”
The boy had heard this all before in gossip, but never from Hiei directly. Most of the women and a few of the men thought it was nice Hiei was doing this for his mate, the rest thought he was weak for it. Suddenly, he got an idea. “Well boss, you could bring her in and let her be the leader on some of the stuff we do. Let her make up a run for a group to see what they can do... And to cheer her up before hand, get gifts and stuff, make her feel like it’s a holiday. Would that cheer her up at all?”
Hiei looked at the boy and tilted his head. “What is your name?”
Not knowing if this was good or bad he looked at Hiei tentatively. “My name is Miles.”
Hiei grinned. “Miles, get ideas like that often and you’ll be going places.”
Miles grinned back. “Thanks boss!” He left the room on the pretense of getting more files of their clients and enemies when he cornered the biggest gossip of them all. He told them that Hiei might bring his mate in and let her boss them around. By the time Hiei left the mansion headquarters to implement his plan for Amara, everyone was either nervous or pissed off, and to Hiei it all went unnoticed.
He watched her sleeping. She looked so peaceful just lying there underneath the comforter. How he missed her and hated the pain she was about to endure. How glad he was that soon he’d be able to talk to her. He mentally kicked himself for feeling joy at her expense. She was always kind to him and he’d looked after her. They had been made for one another but she had the will to live without him. He thought about it and realized that if she’d died before him, he’d have had to kill himself.
Bane glared at Hiei as he walked in, even though Hiei couldn’t see him. Nobody could, but he was always there, watching them. If Bane could become corporeal he would kill Hiei for what he was about to put Amara through. But he couldn’t, not until she summoned him. During her insanity she’d not known where to look, but now she had the power and the resources, but not the drive. She was happy at last and he was elated that she was finally enjoying life, but he needed to talk to her, to warn her.
Hiei was stroking her hair the way Bane used to do. His anger softened as she rolled over and smiled. His spirit soared to her body and his weightless lips lingered upon hers. Hiei assumed it was the wind from the open window. Bane soared out into the night just before Hiei shut it. He was now determined to make her happy after Hiei ruined her life. And to do that he needed a plan.
Hiei climbed into their bed beside Amara and wrapped an arm around her waist. He’d tell her the next morning and then take her in so she could see how powerful they were. Gently he kissed her temple before allowing sleep to claim him.
His dream was unpleasant. In it he saw Amara walking from him, crying at him in pain that he supposedly caused. She’d crumpled up pitifully at his feet, blood pouring from a wound on her head. A light was behind her and a dark figure walked toward them, stopping at Amara’s shaking form. Bane knelt down and embraced Amara, taking her with him into the light. Hiei shot up in bed.
Amara was jerked from her sleep at the sudden movement of her mate. Her arms flew to his shoulders to steady him and his rage. “Hiei, it’s okay, you’re awake now.”
Hiei’s shallow breathing slowly steadied and deepened as he calmed. Twisting to face Amara he felt an instant of guilt where he knew something was off. But shrugged it as aftermath of the nightmare. “Sorry love, just a nightmare...”
Her concerned eyes stared into him. “Do you want to tell me about it?” He shook his head and kissed her lips softly to reassure her. “Okay then, well, it’s still dark out so we should try to get some more sleep.”
“Good idea.” They both lay back down and he wrapped his arms around her, wondering why that nightmare had occurred in the first place. He’d ask Kuwabara who’d been getting good with dream interpretations.
Amara could smell some of her vegetarian sausages being cooked on their stove. The scent of eggs floated to her nostrils. Breathing deep, she opened her eyes and greeted the day. Sunlight had spilled into the room and the bed was empty save for her. Glancing around, her eyes noting the open door that allowed the delightful smells to enter her and Hiei’s bedroom.
She stood, putting her white silk robe on around her soft pink negligee. Sleepily she made her way downstairs to the kitchen, where her beloved mate was making their breakfast. Yawning, Amara was able to say, “Wha...what time is it?”
Hiei looked up, smirking at his beautiful mate, noting how lucky he was to have her. “Well, for this morning, I’ve made you an omelet, veggie sausages, and topped it off with some chocolate chip pancakes!”
Amara danced around the kitchen in circles. “It smells like heaven!” She grabbed Hiei by the arms and made him dance with her. “Thank you, my love, for making me feel like a princess this morning!”
He laughed with her and when they stopped dancing, kissed her softly. “You are most welcome, I only wish for your happiness.”
Amara’s smile faltered. Hiei’s eyes showed signs of worry. Amara knew she couldn’t keep her secret from him any longer. “Hiei, I have something I need to tell you...” She said taking a deep breath, ready to admit she was still involved with the Lai Organization.
Hiei, nervous about her lack of joy got the brilliant idea to reveal his plans for Scythe right then and there, knowing she’d be happy for the distraction. Imitating her bubbly nature from earlier he said, “Can it wait? I have a surprise for you!” He seemed so excited that Amara laughed and wondered what else he could have possibly done for her. He’d already made the best promises in the world and given her so much she would be content if she dropped dead at that moment, but not before she said what she needed to say.
She sighed as she stared into his ruby eyes that were filled with so much enthusiasm. She never wanted them to look any different. Finally she said, “Okay, you go first.” She didn’t know that those words sealed their fate and that this was the last time she could look at Hiei and be completely happy.
Taking a deep breath Hiei whispered, “I’ve gotten myself a new job.”
Amara’s eyes locked on his, she felt her heartbeat increase. “Job?”
He smiled, “Yes, I’m actually doing quite well with it. Everything’s organized and running well, it’ll all be official next week, but still! I’m in charge of it all!”
“So you’ve opened up your own business?”
Hiei shrugged, “Sort of, it was in business a while back, but it fell into a kind of disarray and now that I’m running things, it’ll all be smoother”
Amara felt uneasy, but didn’t want to spoil the moment. “What did it used to be called then?”
Proud of himself in that moment he responded, “Well, it still has the same name, that’s part of its splendor. It’s Scythe, Amara! I’m its new leader and soon we can take over this world, the Makai, and even take over Spirit World!”
“Scythe,” she whispered pitifully. “You’re the new leader Scythe has organized?”
Hiei’s chest was puffed out proudly. “Well, I organized them, but yes! Isn’t it wonderful?”
Amara was in shock and found herself unable to formulate thought. Her mind blankly submitted to his power and her words were not her own. “Wonderful?”
“Ah yes, it is wonderful! Just think, Amara, we will rule all three worlds as King and Queen!”
“King and Queen...?”
“I mean, we’ll have to fight for it, but with your magicks and my demon powers, we’ll be unstoppable!”
“Unstoppable?”
“Damn, Amara, I’ve got to go,” Hiei was checking a small black beeper at his side that was beeping incessantly. “They need me down at headquarters.” He kissed her cheek and gave her a hug. “Now you know and have something to be happy about, so no more sad eyes, okay Amara?”
“No more sadness...” She could barely keep her voice under control. Once Hiei left, Amara sat down on a chair, burying her face in her hands. “Gods no, not again... Scythe has destroyed another man I love.” Sobbing freely she tried to think of a plan, one that might allow Hiei to live and become good again. He’d need to return of his own free will, but if he wouldn’t, then Amara would have to kill him. “What the fuck am I going to do? I need help, someone who knows him as well as I do, even better than I do...who? I know...”
Kurama arrived about an hour later, taking a weeping Amara into his arms. “What happened? Where’s Hiei?”
“Hiei,” she whispered. “Hiei had a damn surprise for me. And it was that he’s the new leader of fucking Scythe!”
She felt her legs go out from under her as her tears became heavier and thicker. She couldn’t see, she couldn’t move, and she didn’t want to talk. Kurama stroked her hair, thinking of a plan. If Amara was right, and Hiei was evil, he would need the others. He would need Yusuke, Genkai, and Kuwabara could be useful, but then Yukina would find out. The sobs were heavy and his shirt soaked through. Of everyone they needed Amara the most, but what Kurama didn’t know, was if she could successfully kill Hiei if the time came.
A/N- So, Hiei’s gone all-evil, and now Amara knows it. I haven’t gotten reviews, and lately I was on Sabbatical with a HUGE writer’s block for everything. And this is the first thing I finished for Mediaminer. I was able to complete a chapter on fanfiction.net for one of my HP fics, but that’s different, I have most of that written out for me already, just some minor adjustments. Go read it if you’re into Harry Potter. It’s called Perfect Despair, by Eirwen Lai, and it’s rated R with Harry and Sirius as the characters it’s about. (Nothing sexual between them, so don’t worry.) Well, I’m off, and please review!
