Hiei: *eyes go wide* Hn…okay. Silvertails6 doesn't own Yu Yu Hakusho or Lord of the Rings or the lyrics to "Even in Death", a song by Evanescence.

Silvertails6: *smiles and pets Hiei on the head* Good boy. Don't hurt me if someone's OOC, it just fits better if he is.

Hiei: *snarls and shoots evil looks at Silvertails6*

I fell to my knees, screaming in horror at the sight I beheld. His deep red blood stained his jacket and his long, silky hair was strewn about his scratched face. His emerald eyes were losing their luster as life seeped out of his body.

"No…don't come any closer," he whispered to me. "I'm afraid there are more traps…"

I kneeled, my forehead pressed to the ground, not being able to take the sight of my love dying any longer.

"Please don't leave me here!" I cried.

"…I love you."

"Don't go where I can't follow…"1 I whispered into the dirt.

" Don't ever forget…I'll never leave you…"

"KURAMA!!"

"Kurama!" I screamed, sitting bolt upright. I sat, catching my breath, my chest heaving. I wiped the cold sweat off my brow and wrapped my cloak around me tighter, the wind ripping thru the ratty fabric that was slung over my shoulders.

I looked up at the night sky thru the tree leaves. It was clear and cold and the stars were shining above my head. My teeth chattered as I contemplated the expansive galaxy that was stretched beyond my eye sight.

My attention was drawn from the heavens to the window by my side by a quiet moan. There was a woman, sobbing on a bed, grasping a lock of red hair in her fist. There was a vase of long dead roses on the bedstand by her head. The ruby comforter under her was blood red with tears and I watched her mouth open and close, much like a fish out of water. I didn't need to open the window to be able to know what she was saying for she had cried out the same exact words every night for the year he's been gone.

"Come back to me, my little boy…please…oh, God, please…"

I stood, shaking the ebony colored tear gems from my lap. I needed a walk.

"Well, Kurama…I'm back again." I whispered to the gray headstone sitting in front of me. I shivered as the cold January wind cut thru my clothes. "I couldn't sleep again tonight. I had that dream.

"I don't see why I can't follow you… some nights…

Give me a reason,

To believe,

That you're gone.

"I swear you're there with me. Holding me,

I see your shadow,

So I know,

They're all wrong.

"I come here so often. Just to make sure everything's okay. I was wrong Kurama. Before…

Moonlight on the soft brown earth,

It leads me to where you lay.

"I can follow you. Kurama…tonight, I'm following you…

They took you away from me

But now I'm taking you home.

The figure started to dig with his bare hands, his short fingernails scraping across the frozen, snowy ground. "I'm following you…if I can't…no…I will."

I will stay forever here,

Softly spoken words you gave me,

The black cloaked figure swung frozen ground aside, searching for his love. A sweet madness over took him, the first feeling he had had in months.

Some say I'm crazy,

for my love.

Oh my love…

But no bonds can hold me

from your side,

Hmm, my love.

"I'm coming for you Kurama…I swear it!"

They don't know you can't leave me,

The figure's digging increased to a frantic pace as a faint whisper on the wind reached his frozen ears.

They don't hear you singing to me.

"I knew it! You promised me! I knew you wouldn't leave me! You promised!"

The demon finally dug to the coffin and opened the lid. His lover's body was perfect, not showing any signs of decay from a year of death, his pale, flawless skin angelic in the moonlight. "You never left me…never…Kurama…" The little youkai whispered as he sunk in beside his love and closed the coffin lid.

And I can't love you

Anymore than I do.

~Epilogue~

"Oh! Jesus H. Christ! Look at this Carl. It's fuckin' sick I tell ya." The burly police man said, standing over a recently dug up grave. How recently? Apparently last night recently. The cemetery groundskeeper had walked past this morning and found the soil around the grave disturbed. When he looked in, the coffin lid was ajar. He called the police immediately and then gave himself the rest of the week off.

The forensic team had been called in to do fingerprints and DNA samples and they had just opened the lid of the coffin.

There were two bodies instead of one. A young man, which the police man took to be Shuiichi Minamino, the boy who had been buried in this grave over a year ago, and an unidentified body of another young boy. A young, young boy. The body of the supposed gravedigger didn't seem more than 10 years old. The red head's body was obviously showing signs of decay but the other boy didn't seem to mind. He was spooned up against the rotting body, as if they had just spent a warm night making love. A crumbling hand was curled in his own.

Joe Horitna was the chief of police and had been called out of his warm bed at 7:00 in the morning for this. Needless to say, Chief Horitna was not a happy man at that moment. His partner, Carl Nagivla, had been there since 6:00, when the groundskeeper had first made the call into the station.

"What do you think Joe?" Carl asked, handing his partner a cup of hot coffee.

"Fuckin' sick," Joe whispered again and crossed himself, bowing his head for a short prayer.

"Looks like he froze to death, chief. He's been dead for over 7 hours now. No use in getting him to the hospital," the head of the forensic team yelled up to Joe.

"Any idea on who he is?"

"I know," a cold voice came from behind Joe. Joe whipped around to a boy standing there, wearing a green school uniform, his hands tucked in his pockets, shoulders hunched against the bitter wind.

"What? Identify yourself," Joe commanded, his free hand reaching for his gun, feeling a bit threatened by this boy. A boy, that's all he was. Hell, he was not much older than Joe's own middle school aged daughter at home. That's all he was but Joe…Joe could feel something. Power was emanating off this boy, a force that was to be reckoned with.

"No need for names or weapons, chief. This man wanted to die. He loved him, captain. I think you can understand that,"

"What the fuck are you talking about? This man you're talking about looks like he's 10! This is a little boy, not a man! He wouldn't want to die! He had his whole life ahead of him! How could any 10 year old want to die!?" Joe screamed, getting irritated and pulling his gun out of the holster at his hip. The boy raised his dark brown eyes to Joe, the irises peeking thru black shaggy bangs. Joe gasped and took a step back as the boy's power hit him full on. Joe shakily cocked the gun and aimed it at the man's head. He was about to fire when the boy spoke…

"You're mistaken. The…boy's…life ended when Shuiichi's did. At least they have a chance of being together now…" and the boy disappeared. Literally. Into thin air. All that was left of him was a cloud of lightly colored blue wisps.

"Holy fuck. Sweet mother of God," Joe dropped to his knees, his gun falling out of his limp hand. Joe crossed himself, muttering the Lord's prayer over and over again.
