Chapter Three

Meeting the Spirit Detectives


Ariyawna's POV


I woke up with the sun in my eyes; I looked around and noticed I was in a strange room. My head spun toward the door opening, my eyes went wide of the sight of the person. He had medium length of red hair beautiful green eyes, I wonder who this person is.

"Oh your awake?" he asked.

His voice... it sounds so innocent... But there's something about him that makes me curious...

"Your a demon are you not?"

When I said it he went stiff, he then looked at me and smiled.

"Now what got you that idea?"

"Don't play dumb with me I can sense your spirit energy, well that's what Hiei calls it..."

I watched his face turn grim, then back to a smile again. He likes to smile a lot...

"Well not demon, more like a Youkai..."

"Youkai, I believe is the same word for demon... I'm not as dumb as you think."

"I never said you were, now how's your arm doing? I heard you fought a demon, from what I heard from Hiei quite skilled fighter."

"Well, I'm not that quite of a skilled fighter..." I said while using my good arm to scratch my head.

Wait, is he trying to flatter me?

"Stop trying to flatter me youkai boy, just who are you and how did I get here?"

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry I forgot to introduce myself. My human name is Suichi, but the spirit detectives call me Kurama. It's a pleasure of finally meeting you Ms. Ariyawna."

That's strange I never heard anyone call me a Ms before, he is strange but nice.

"It's nice to meet you Kurama, but you can just call me Ariyawna. I don't know about my demon form because I never used it before and it's driving me nuts! It's scratching through my head trying to get out, but the most pain is coming from my forehead. I don't know how long I can hold it..."

"Hmm... maybe Hiei could help you with that..."

"Speaking of Hiei, where is he?"

Then just out of no where, his voice appeared by the window.

"It's your Jagan, it needs to be summoned out. If it doesn't then you will die in three days..."

'Sigh' Why am I not surprised? There's always a consequence...

"Will you help her Hiei?" asked Kurama while looking at her.

"Of course, can't let a perfactly good demon or your fighting abilities go to waist. Besides it would be nice to have another fire demon to spar with..."

"So what am I, your punching bag?"

"Perhaps, it would be nice to have a challenge once in a while with a demon that has the same genes and abilities."

"Yeah it would be nice wouldn't it? Ok when do we start?"

I watched him smile at me with his eyes closed. He looks cute when he smiles... Wait what!? Did I just think that!?

"We would start tonight in the Makai, but for now you should rest more and let that wound of yours heal before we train."

Wait a second!

I shot up from bed, ignoring the pain in my left shoulder while I look at Kurama.

"What time is it!?"

"Oh, don't worry Ms. Ariyawna today is a holiday, there is no school today... so please lie down you need your rest..."

He's so nice... yet so gentle... AHHH damn these thoughts!!!

"You mean here? I can't possibly..."

"No it's quite all right, the only thing that's Important right now is for you to rest and regain your strength, once your strength has return I'll have food ready for you."

"Thank you Kurama... and I thank you for your hospitality..." She said as she slowly fell asleep.

I closed my eyes and rest my head against the pillow as I felt Kurama pull the covers over me. I slightly smiled and fell asleep.


Kurama's POV


I was awoken last night by Hiei knocking on the window; I was surprised to see that he had brought a women. He had said that she defeated a demon from the Makai, I looked at the girl and noticed who she was, it was Ariyawna Majors the daughter of Bakai Majors. She must have runaway from him.

Hiei said that her arm had a deep cut and needs to be stitched, I told him to place her on the bed while I go and get the medical supplies. Once I have returned I saw Hiei staring at the girl with wide eyes, does it seem that he is blushing?

"Are you feeling all right Hiei?"

He turned to me quickly, with the usual scowl on his face.

"I'm fine!" He said as he walked towards the window.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to tell the others that I have Ariyawna, take care of her wound I'll be back later!"

I watched Hiei leave then went to work on Ariyawna's arm. After I cleaned and stitched her arm I went to go refil the water and find a new cloth to wash her face.

Once I returned I sat next to her side once again and started to clean her face. Once the dirt was washed away I couldn't help but realize how beautiful she looks. She maybe the demon lords daughter, but I wonder who her mother is, for she too is a demon, but what kind...

All this thinking is giving me a headache, then I heard her whisper something in her sleep.

"Mother..."

Her mother must have passed away or killed, somehow I feel sorry for her all alone with no family to actually love... I used to be the same as her, but now I have a mother that taught me what love really was and I thank her for that...

I hear her moan and open her eyes, they were a beautiful sky blue with a hint of purple in them.

"Oh your awake?" I asked.

"Your a demon are you not?"

My eyes went wide as I stiffen into place. How does she know!? I'll act like I didn't believe it.

"Now what got you that idea?"

Hiei? Well now that she knows I might as well tell her...

She never used her demon powers? I think Hiei should know.

"Hmm... maybe Hiei could help you with that..."

What! Youko!?

Well hey she's pretty nice, she'll make a good mate for me...

I stood up when she quickly sat up.

She's probably worried about school...

"Oh, don't worry Ms. Ariyawna today is a holiday, there is no school today... so please lie down you need your rest..."

"You mean here? I can't possibly..."

Shut up Youko!

I bet you want her strength returned so she can mate with you...

"Thank you Kurama... and I thank you for your hospitality..." She said as she slowly fell asleep.

I pulled the blankets over her and saw her slightly smile, I faintly smiled back until I turned my attention towards Hiei.

"Will you be staying here again Hiei?"

Please say no!!

Youko do me a favor?

What's that?

Shut the hell up!!

"Yes I will stay here just for tonight, then I'll wake Ariyawna up for training, don't worry about a room I'll be fine right here..."

.....

I smirked when my Youko didn't speak through my head.

"Very well, I shall return to bed in a different room, rest well Hiei."

and with that I left her with Hiei and went to bed once again.

She's my mate Hiei, if you take her away I swear to the gods you will die!!

Youko shut up for once and let me sleep!!

When I heard no response, I fell asleep peacefully.



Hiei's POV


"Will you be staying here again Hiei?"

I spoke to him without turning my back.

"Yes I will stay here just for tonight, then I'll wake Ariyawna up for training, don't worry about a room I'll be fine right here..."

I can't believe I just stood there like an idiot, I stood there staring at her thinking about that kiss she gave me earlier.

"Very well, I shall return to bed in a different room, rest well Hiei."

I heard him close the door and leave; all was quiet except for Ariyawna's soft breathing. I looked over my right shoulder and watched her chest rise up and down. I slowly got up from my place and walked then sat by her side on the bed.

I watched her slowly turn towards me in her sleep, she had a small smile on her lips. I silently smiled back with soft eyes. Since when did I become soft? Is it because of she's the same breed as me? Or did I fall in love with her?

Love... such a pathetic weak emotion, and yet I can't help but look at her beautiful face. Blast these damn emotions!! May be sleep will get rid of them...

I sat against the wall next to Ariyawna's bed, my sword protectively against my right shoulder. I looked at her once more until I fell asleep.



**Four Hours Later**

Ariyawna's POV


I woke up with fell of warm breath beside my neck, I gasped when I felt an arm around my waist. I looked up and saw Hiei silently sleeping like a baby. (I would have said Angel but I just don't think it would work on him)

I faintly smiled and slowly slipped out of his embrace and covered him up with the blankets. I just couldn't help but look at his calm face, but I remembered last night on the Tokyo Tower when I kissed him. His warm lips against mine, it felt relaxing; then without even thinking I bent down and brought my lips to his. As I broke away I couldn't help but blush.

When I looked at him, he had a slight smile on his face. I smiled back, but couldn't help but thinking that I had a slight of a draft. I looked down at myself and saw that my pants had been ripped up and so as my shirt. I laughed quietly to myself.

Heh-heh, Hiei you luck bastard... I'll let you off this time, next time I won't be so nice... Hmm... may be Kurama wouldn't mind if I wore some of his clothes, I can't go around looking like this...

Hmm... lets see... no this wont do... no not this... deffinately not... Gods doesn't this guy have anything black!? Wait what's that?

I opened the closet door widely to get a better look at the clothing, I smiled when I pulled out a black jacket. Hmm... does he have a white plain shirt?

I opened his drawers searching for a white shirt, success! Now all I need is a pair of black pants... Ahh there we go... man this guy sure is tall! I wish these things were in a shorter size... Oh well at least it's something...

I went into his bathroom to change, once I came out I finally right again. Well the clothes may be big but I figured something out. Besides the clothes match my black boots, and the sunglasses that I found in the front pocket of the jacket looks really nice.

I walked out the room with my hands behind my head; then I walked down the stairs but only to stop and smelled something.

"Uerameshi, Yusuke... thought I smelled something drafty..."

"Ariyawna Majors..." He said in a growl.

"Oh still sore from the last time we met...?"

"Shut the hell up, I want a rematch now!!"

"Such big words for such a little man with his toy finger gun..." she said as she laughed at him.

"I'll show you toy gun, you son of a..."

Before he could say the full phase Kurama I think, came in. But he looks different... long white hair, sharp claws, and fox ears... hmm... this must be his Youko form...

"Hello Ariyawna, it's a pleasure to finally meet you..."

"Pleasures all mine Youko, I hope Kurama doesn't mind if I used some of his clothes..."

"Of course he doesn't mind, besides I think you look sexy in those clothes."

I hate when people try to flatter me...

"Stop trying to flatter me Youko boy, when are the others going to get here; I have training in a few hours..."

"Heh, with Hiei I presume?" asked Yusuke putting his hands behind his head in a bored fashion.

"So, what's wrong with him?"

"Heh, that shorty trains everyday and doesn't stop..."

"At least he trains more than you do, you weak little bastard!"

"I dare you to take that back, you little wench!"

I smirked.

"Why don't you come over here and make me little man?"

He started to advance when a women in blue hair stopped him, there was a girl there with her... Is that Kieko?

"Hey Kieko, how's it goin?"

"Ariyawna? What are you doing here?"

"Heh-heh, I guess your boyfriend doesn't know what a human to a demon"

"I was preoccupied at the moment!!"

"Yeah sleeping or skipping class"

"That's it!!"

"Yusuke what are you doing?" asked the women with the blue hair.

"I'm going to kick her ass, what else would I be doing!?"

"Heh your not worth my time you little maggot..."

I watched him humorously as he got angrier.

"Come on Botan just one punch in the face? That's all I ask!"

"Yusuke I will not tolerate you fighting in some ones house! Behave yourself now!!" Yells Kieko.

This is so hilarious...

"You should listen to your girlfriend Urameshi, it will keep you from being killed..."

I heard him growl once more as he sat down disappointedly. Then the women in blue hair came up to me with a smile.

"Hi my name is Botan, you must be Ariyawna Majors..."

"In the flesh..."

"I came here to tell you that my boss made you a spirit detective, isn't this exciting?"

'Sigh' "Ecstatic..."

"Say where's Kurabara?"

Kurabara?

"He'll be here in any minute."

Just then a man with red hair came inside the house.

"Hello Kurabara, how's it going?" I asked.

"Uh, do I know you?"

"I think you should know me, my name is Ariyawna Majors..."

"Oh yeah, now I remember, you were at the arcade the other day."

"You know her?" asked Yusuke slightly angry.

"Of course, she's the smart ass person I know! She's got a way with words."

"Oook, so shall we get this meeting started?" asked Botan.

I looked around and noticed that Hiei was still missing.

"Wait Hiei's not here, I bet he's still sleeping. I'll go wake him!"

I ran upstairs to wake Hiei, but out of nowhere he appeared in front of me and made me lose my balance, but luckily he caught me around the waist and pulled me up and held me against his chest. I felt heat rush up into my cheeks as I slowly pulled away from him.

He looked at me with soft eyes, wait soft eyes? Does this mean he's becoming... soft?

"Um... the others... are here... are you feeling ok Hiei?"

I watched him slightly smile, then returned to his usual self.

"I'm fine, why do you ask?"

"Because... uh... um... I just never seen you so soft before."

"Do I look soft to you?"

"Well... um..."

"Never in my life have I ever been soft on anyone, but you... if you tell anyone that I'm being soft on you I swear you'll pay the constituencies..."

"Like what, 100 spankings?"

"May be that's if I'm in the mood to do so... I'll only be soft on you sometimes when we are alone, but training will be different. First the meeting then the training..."

I was being sarcastic when I said that, holy crap he really means it

"Why are you being so soft on me? Is it because your trying to make me forget that when I woke up you were in my bed holding me protectively?"

"So it wasn't a dream... but no that's not why..."

"Then tell me..."

Just when he was about to speak, damn Urameshi's voice was heard down below the stairs.

"Come on what's the hold up!? We got a meeting to do you know!!"

Then I turned myself towards Hiei who had a small smirk.

"Tell you later, we have a meeting to do..."

As he let me go and walked passed me, I suddenly stepped on his cape and watched him fall down backwards. When I walked passed him I gave him a smirk of triumph.

"Ladies first..." I said as I walked down the stairs with him silently following with his usual scowl on his face.


A/N: LOL wouldn't that be funny if that actually happened to Hiei? You know some one stepping on his cape and falling down to the ground? May be, may be not. Oh well let's see what happens in the next chapter!
