Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Flames ❯ Flames ( Chapter 1 )
You were scary. I can't put it any better than that. You looked absolutely frightening, the way your body disappeared and melted into the flames. The power I felt was overwhelming…how all of that came out of you…I'll never know. Well, you know what they say…
Dynamite comes in small packages.
Bui never saw it coming. He thought he had won after he deflected the Dragon back to you. Stupid fucker…he should have known better.
You always win with such narcissism. You were arrogant even as you fell, exhausted, into my arms. "If you don't win, I'll never forgive you. None of you,"
I never really thought about how fire suits you. On one side, it can be hot and destructive, burning everything it its path. On the other side, it can be warm and life-preserving, like a campfire on a cool night. Just like you, Hiei.
You looked just like a child as Kuwabarra carried you back to that little room, your breathing slight and even, your face relaxed and body limp. I think Yusuke caught me staring at you, I'm not sure. I can't stand how you can totally and completely entrap me. I don't understand it and I guess I never will.
I really don't want to.
If I understand you, then maybe the thing that keeps me thinking about you will disappear. I don't want that to happen.
Inari, please, don't let that happen.
I sat by your side as you slept, softly touching and brushing my skin against yours. You were so warm and I just wanted to curl up beside you and just be by you. I wanted you to hold me and kiss me…but I know that will never happen. Why would it? As far as I know, you don't love. You see me as an ally and nothing more. You barely tolerate Kuwabarra and Yusuke, why should you love me?
It's hopeless.
I should just give up on you but…
I can't.
You steal my every waking thought and now are starting to be the thief of my dreams. You won't leave me alone…Please Hiei, just leave me alone…
But you won't.
And I don't want you to.
It's hopeless.
I sat on that cold, hard sofa in that sterile backroom and I thought all of these things. I took your hand and was surprised to see that your hand dwarfed my own. Your hands were smooth and pale, just like the rest of your skin. I sighed as I took your charred right hand and arm into my lap.
I took note of the markings on the underside of the bandages you wear. The only barrier between me and all of that…power inside of you. I smiled a little, getting an idea and kissed your hand. I got up, leaving an also napping Yusuke in the corner of the room.
The next time we were able to really talk was after the tournament was over. Yusuke had almost lost his life beating Toguro, Genkai was alive again, everyone was happy to be leaving that dratted island.
I'll never forget the look on your face when I presented that bracelet to you. The fact that I intended you to wear a piece of ningen jewelry was too much for you. You only eased a little bit after I told you it would resemble a tattoo on the inside of your wrist.
I took your arm and gently started to unwrap the dirty, ragged bandages. You freaked and pulled your arm back, yelling at me. I hushed you and took your hand back into my own. You quieted and watched what I was doing silently.
I did my task with a small smile on my face. I loved the look in your eyes. The fact that I was holding your hand was a bonus. As the last of the bandages came off, you cringed. I guess you were waiting for the Dragon of Darkness Flame to come out and eat us both but I squeezed the bracelet on to your small wrist and smiled as the spell took, the metal bracelet fading away to a small black Kanji symbol on the inside of your wrist.
You took your hand from mine and flipped it over, studying the mark on your wrist. The charred skin was gone, replaced by a black, twisting tattoo that draped itself down your arm like one of my rose whips. "Fire?" you asked me. I silently nodded. "This must've taken you hours to produce. Tons of energy too," I just kept smiling but shook my head in the negative. I slowly realized that that must've been your thank you and I stood, a little disappointed.
I started to walk away but was stopped cold in my tracks when you appeared in front of me. You had an odd look on your face, one I'd never seen before.
"I never got to say thank you," that was all the warning I had before black and red engulfed me. I fell into a warm embrace, a whirlwind of flame and colors. Red, black, purple, crimson…just like your eyes. Soft grass came up to meet my arms and back and a audible thump of a cloak being thrown was heard.
Warm breath and kisses were rained down upon my face and neck and two smooth hands caressed my sides and undid my buttons on my shirt.
A thunderstorm of fire rained down upon me as I lay there in the grass, not being able to do anything but lie there and drink up the flames as they kissed my lips, neck and skin.
Light flashed before my eyes and I looked up at you. Your body was twisted and melting into the Darkness Flame, your eyes the Dragon's own. I sighed as I let myself sink into the feelings, so glad for the flames that kept me warm.
