"You should go to him," Mukuro said with amusement as she watched her heir stare out the window, gazing at the darkened sky. He'd been brooding far too much lately though she really couldn't blame him. If she had ever taken a lover even hell itself wouldn't have been able to stand between them yet things weren't so simple for Hiei and Yusuke. "How long has it been since you've seen him? Three months? Four?" A heavy sigh was her answer but Mukuro knew that she was right. Things had been far too hectic lately for the apparition to return to the ningenkai. However now that things were quiet along the border she could afford to spare him for a day or two even if Hiei didn't believe it. "Things are calmer now, take a few days off. I'm sure that Yusuke is wondering what has been keeping you."

 

"You are sure?" Hiei turned to look at her, trying to determine if she was serious or not. Far too often he'd thought about returning to his lover but something had occurred at the last moment to thwart his plans. Yet as he stared at the woman he couldn't see any underlying tension that would indicate that there was something building that would ruin his time away yet again. It was times like this that he wished Yusuke didn't have obligations in the Ningenkai but there wasn't any way that either of them could change the circumstances right now. He had his duties to Mukuro and his lover had his mother to worry about. Since the woman had taken ill Yusuke had stepped up to the plate and taken over as her caretaker. Hiei wasn't about to ask him to abandon the only family he had. The time that they could spend together was rare and fleeting, if Mukuro was to grant him leave Hiei wasn't about to waste it. "How long until I must return?"

 

Mukuro pursed her lips as she considered the apparition's question. While Hiei was an invaluable asset and just as determined as she was when it came to eliminating any threat he was not a machine either. She knew that should she decree twenty four hours he would return without much complaint but she wasn't about to do that to him. A smile quirked at the corners of her lips as she leaned back in her chair. "You have a week Hiei." She fell silent as he stood silently, fully intent on leaving her office before she was forced to assign a job to him for the evening. She waited until he was at the door before she cleared her throat, stopping him in his place. "Oh and Hiei?" He turned to stare at her with a look a barely concealed anticipation in his eyes. "Try and get some sleep while you are in bed with him this time."

 

Hiei snorted with amusement as he vanished from Mukuro's sight. He'd sleep only once he managed to sate his appetite for the dark haired toushin and not before. Of course Yusuke was as insatiable as he was so the chances that particular order would be followed anytime soon were slim to none. The other occupants of the mobile fortress moved out of his way quickly as he traversed the hallways as quickly as he could. More than one demon had to flatten himself against the wall as Hiei raced past, intent on reaching the ningenkai before the sun rose. No one would be foolish enough to attempt detaining him now, to do so was courting certain death and they all knew it. As the cool night air caressed his face a rare smile appeared. It helped that the border was only a few miles away which made for easy traveling. The convenience made him question if Mukuro had planned this, knowing how impatient he had become to return to his lover's side.

 

Had the woman been present Hiei knew that she wouldn't have given him a straight answer anyway, it was just the way that Mukuro worked. The sounds of the night enveloped him as he continued traveling away from the fortress. Bugs circled him, attracted to his body heat but they kept far enough away when he raised his temperature even higher to keep them at bay. The darkened sky gave no indication just what time it was in the Ningenkai but he was willing to bet that Yusuke was home by now. If not then he would likely be returning home soon. Atsuko was likely to be there as well but his presence would be unnoticed due to the strong medications she had to take. For the night at least he would have Yusuke to himself. His blood quickened as the border come into view and Hiei picked up his pace as he passed through it unhindered. Now that the barrier was down he could pass through without concern. Koenma was of course monitoring every energy signature that ventured into the ningenkai but he was one of the few that had safe passage between the three worlds.

 

As he landed safely in the human world Hiei scowled up at the night sky in irritation. Rain fell in torrents, plastering his clothing to his skin although his hair remained defiant as ever. Clouds obscured his view of the night sky making it impossible to estimate just what time it was. 'If he's asleep already I'm sure he won't mind the methods in which I would wake him up.' His cloak rustled as he took off in the direction of Yusuke's apartment, ignoring the water that now soaked his clothing. There was no point in using his ki to remain dry in this instance, the garments would be coming off soon anyway if he had his way. Lightening arced across the sky, helping to illuminate his way as he traversed the tops of the buildings. Few people were out at the moment thanks to the weather therefore he had no worries about someone possibly noticing him. However the chances were lessened even more when a transformer blew off to his right, sparks exploding into the damp air and plunging the surrounding area into darkness.

 

Now the only light to be found was that provided by the intermittent lightning but Hiei didn't allow that to hinder him. His sight adjusted easily enough to the darkness and his trip was finished with no further complications. His boots struck the concrete porch with a dull thump as he came to rest in front of the doorway. Slipping his hand into his pocket, a single key was pulled out and the apparition used it to unlock the front door. Kurama would probably laugh if he were to ever learn that he had abandoned his traditional methods of going through the closest window. However all it had taken was Atsuko noticing him leaving on one occasion and she'd begun hallucinating intruders thanks to the medications she'd been given. A stupid mistake on his part but one that had been resolved with minimal effort on his part. Yusuke on the other hand had been stuck dealing with the aftermath. It was just one more reason for Hiei to bury the feelings of resentment towards the woman that would occasionally crop up.

 

The door pushed open easily enough under his hand and he peered through the darkness as he walked into the apartment. All senses were alert as he scanned the apartment and Hiei quickly realized that the only other occupant was the woman. Fortunately she was asleep and as such he wouldn't be forced to endure her delusional company. Yusuke would be home at any time he was certain, especially if he'd known that the power had gone out. With that in mind Hiei began walking towards the Toushin's bedroom, his hands going to the clasps of his cloak as he moved. The wet material parted easily enough as he stepped through the doorway and closed the door behind him. Casually he tossed the wet material over the back of a chair before kicking his boots off. Custom dictated that he should have removed them before stepping foot into the apartment but he'd never been one to follow protocol.

 

The pants were next, Hiei making short work of the belts and then pushing the black fabric down over his hips. Water trailed down his bared skin from his hair but a slight increase in his temperature had it evaporating quickly. Only once he was dry did he take a seat on the king sized bed in the corner of the room, just another accommodation that Yusuke had provided for their comfort. The comforter was soft beneath his body but he refused to get comfortable just yet, his senses kept on edge just waiting for the first hint of his lover. Slowly his eyes closed and Hiei pondered just who would be in charge on this night. Easily he could picture the Toushin panting beneath him, begging for something that only he could give and a slow smile crossed the apparition's face as he licked his lips in anticipation. A whisper of sound reached his ears and he knew that his time for waiting was at an end.

Yusuke sighed heavily as he kicked his shoes off. Even though he'd only been out in the weather for a couple of seconds it'd been more than enough to get him wetter than he would have liked. A frown crossed his face when he walked into the main room and his bare feet encountered a puddle of water. 'What the hell?' His first thought was that perhaps his mother had ventured outside, it wouldn't have been the first time that something like that had happened. Shrugging his jacket off he tossed it onto the kitchen table and made his way over to her bedroom. A quick peek in revealed the woman in bed, sleeping as she should be. 'Then that means...' Eagerly he turned towards his bedroom fully anticipating that there would be a naked apparition sprawled on his bed, waiting to be taken. An arrogant smile crossed his face as he pushed the bedroom door open and stepped inside to see his bed completely empty. "But..." Warm hands slid around his waist and slid up beneath his shirt causing him to groan.

 

"But what Detective?" It hadn't been difficult for him to figure out just what Yusuke had been thinking by the look on his face. Hiei's own smirk grew larger as the Toushin melted against him. A strong hand gripped him, pulling him firmly against Yusuke's back. "And here I thought I was the impatient one. It took you long enough to return home Detective." He couldn't help but taunt the taller man as his fingers brushed against a pebbled nipple.

 

"And I'd wondered if I was gonna have to drag your ass back from the Makai to get some time alone with you," Yusuke said as he turned in the apparition's arms. There was no doubt that Hiei was as impatient as he was to end the small talk. Roughly he pulled the hybrid towards the bed, fully intent on laying the man on his back but his plans were thwarted when the small demon twisted them around and pushed him onto the bed. Sword calloused hands tugged on the button holding his pants closed before yanking the zipper down. Yusuke tried to aid Hiei in ridding him of the garments but the apparition slapped his hands away before gripping the waistband and yanking the offending garment off of his body. Ignoring the hands which tried to pin him in place, Yusuke sat up and pulled the flimsy shirt over his head, leaving him as bare as his lover. "Damn you're impatient. I don't even get a kiss hello?"

 

Hiei snorted, knowing that Yusuke wanted this just as badly as he did. His cock bobbed impatiently as he stood between his lover's knees, the tip mere inches from the Toushin's lips. Hiei tangled his fingers in the man's damp hair, pulling him even closer. "I've got something you can kiss." Once Hiei got his own release Yusuke had plans to flip the smaller demon over and give as good as he had gotten. Strong arms wrapped around his waist as the apparition moved behind him, pinning him into place as one hand slid down his abdomen to caress the thick shaft standing proudly away from his body. Slowly he pulled away from his lover and laid back on the bed, pulling the apparition next to him. Though words of affection and devotion hadn't been said, they'd been expressed in other ways and as Yusuke moved to his side and looked into Hiei's eyes he saw his feelings reflected back at him. "I know it isn't forever but for now we can pretend that it is." Of course the apparition said nothing but Yusuke knew that Hiei felt as he did. It was enough for now, one day they wouldn't have to wait for the day that they would be forced to part once more. Reaching over he pulled his lover towards him, brushing his lips softly across the apparition's before he murmured softly into his ear. "This time I get to be on top."
