"Where am I?" Hiei asked himself. He had suddenly appeared in a dark room but he could somehow see a small door to his right, which was only about a half-foot tall. He tried to open the door but it seemed locked. Besides, he would have never made it through the door even if would open. "What the hell is this place?" Hiei asked himself again. Then, suddenly, he appeared in the Makai but not just any part of the Makai. It was the floating island of Koorime. Hiei turned around to see his sister, Yukina, being held by a person that seemed familiar somehow. Hiei looked at Yukina to see tears running down her face.
"I am sorry sweet young Koorime demoness. Your mother loves you but we have no need for half-breeds!" and the demoness roughly laid Yukina on a glacier, tied up and struggling to get away. This was not the Koorime tradition. Hiei's eyes widened as the woman grabbed for an ice knife and held it closely to Yukina's neck.
"No!" Hiei's yelled and the group of Koorime turned to him. Hatred covered their faces.
"Ah. The Forbidden Child has returned," the knife wielding koorime said, irate anger flashing in her eyes. The demoness seemed familiar. Somehow he knew her.
"Ruri?" the small fire demon said, remembering, vaguely, the koorime woman who threw him from the island. The woman smiled evilly.
"So. You remember. You were such a small, unwanted child. Hina was a fool for falling in love with that retched fire demon." She growled, pressing the blade closer to the small girl's throat. "He corrupted her! He changed my best friend!" Ruri looked past Hiei to a woman behind him. Hiei turned and saw one person he did not wish to see.
Hina.
It was his mother. The one who had loved a fire demon and bore his children. She was the woman who went against the koorime's wishes. She smiled sadly at Hiei. Her eyes held a hatred of sorts. Almost like the wanted to kill. The crimson eyes, so much like his own, confused him. They held so many emotions. Anger, hate, longing, loneliness, sadness, and most of all . . . love. How could one demon hold so many emotions in the depths of their hearts? It almost scared him as his mother moved towards him. Her small smile never wavered from her weary face.
Hiei couldn't move. He was so shocked. He never thought that he would ever see his demon mother again. He watched as she came towards him, stopping and bending down to look him properly in the face. She slowly reached out a shaky hand and laid it softly on his cheek. It scared him how much the touch was welcomed. He had never felt the loving hands off a mother. Sure, Shiori had hugged him and such, but she wasn't his mother.
Hina slowly removed her hand from the shocked fire demon's face and raised it high in the air. She swiftly brought it down to strike him across the face. Hiei fell, face first, into the snow. A bright red mark was making itself known.
"You were to never come back here," Hina growled at Hiei. The fire demon looked up to his mother, the red mark shining brightly. He was now aware that his mother had no intentions on becoming his mother again. "For doing so, your sister will die." Hiei's eye's widened in horror as he heard his twin sister's tormenting scream . . .

He sat bolt up right. Sweat trickled down his forehead. `It had all been a dream.' He thought.
"All of it," he said aloud. He looked wearily around the room he was in. Light blue hues covered the area. Even the laptop, sitting on the otherwise empty desk, was blue. He sighed as he realised where he was.
"Hiei, koi," Kurama said lightly as he stepped through the door of the bathroom with a bucket and a wet washrag. The fox looked worried. He easily pushed Hiei back down to the bed and laid the washcloth on his forehead. "You don't look to good. Take it easy."
"Kitsune." Was all Hiei said as he let the former Yoko tend to him. Then he remembered something. "Aren't we supposed to meet Yusuke-kun and the bum at Genkai-sensai's temple?" Kurama shook his head.
"Changed it. They're coming here," Kurama said, dabbing the fire demon's forehead. Hiei nodded slightly, closing his eyes, letting dreamless-sleep consume him.

An hour later, the fire demon woke up, feeling slightly groggy. He looked around and found no signs of Kurama, Yusuke or anyone. He slowly kicked his feet over the edge of the bed and decided to go down stairs.
"A fever?" Hiei heard someone say. It was Yusuke. "But, I thought fire demon's had impeccable immune systems." Hiei chuckled. Since when could Yusuke use the word, impeccable? In any case, their conversation interested him some, so he stayed quiet and listened.
"They do, Yusuke-kun." He heard Kurama say. "That's what worries me. No fire demon should ever become ill. It's almost taboo!" Hiei chuckled. He always found it funny when Kurama yelled. Then a thought struck him. `I'm ill? No wonder the room is starting to spin.' He thought.
"Then, what are we going to do?" Kuwabara's voice rang, causing Hiei's head to ache. The room was spinning even faster now. The edges of Hiei's vision were turning black. "Do you know what's wrong?"
Every thing kept spinning and spinning. Hiei couldn't tell where he was. He was loosing balance. Darkness was surrounding him. He was falling. Where, he did not know. All was lost. The last thing he heard before all went black was: "Koi! Hold on!"
