Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Fox Hunt ❯ Who Really Wins? ( Chapter 6 )
In case someone actually has read this far, I would like to say a few things.
First off THANK YOU for hanging in there and hopefully you got some enjoyment out of my tortured attempt to write a YYH story.
As someone who is obviously not a writer, this has got to have been one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Secondly, my most heartfelt thanks, appreciation and envy to those who really can write! You all make it seem so easy, but let me tell ya all, IT AIN'T.
I have not seen beyond Genkai's death in the series (and can't spell it either, so sorry again) so I'm sort of making the story line fit my *plot*. (Oh yeah, plot is a 4 letter word alright!) AND since I'm really wanting to end this sucker and move on with my life I apologize in advance for the very probably crummy chapter that follows.
Anyway, thanks for letting me rant and here goes…

Dark, glittering eyes peered though the vegetation at the now sleeping couple in the secluded clearing. Earlier, he had witnessed the fiery passion that had caused his own breath to quicken with desire. As the night grew chilly around the young lovers, the fiery haired Kurama had risen to retrieve the forgotten blanket and tucked it around them both securely. Toguro watched as Kurama had tenderly gathered Juri into his arms and heard her contented sigh as she snuggled against him. His powerful, chiseled jaw had clenched in irritation at the scene.
It was one thing for Juri to do her job as instructed, but another completely to have performed with such obvious pleasure. He grinned evilly at the thought of how he would punish this act of disloyalty.
But, if the look in the Kurama's eyes as he held her close was any indication, she may have provided just the right amount of distraction to throw him off in the coming round of the tournament.
Silently he waited. It would be light in a few hours and he was a patient man. Settling in, he continued to watch, and brood.
Finally, the first faint rays of sunlight showed in the dark sky accompanied by the chirping of a few early morning birds. The young couple slowly began to stir with wakefulness. With a tender touch, Juri reached a delicate hand from under the blanket and traced the curve of Kurama's slightly parted lips. Slowly opening his emerald green eyes, he smiled a good morning and tightened his embrace to pull her up for a sweet, gentle kiss.
Toguro's own lips pulled back into a tight-lipped smirk.
This is playing out even better than I had originally planned, he thought to himself.
Soft sighs of quickening passion could be heard from the couple's little clearing. Their mating this time was tender and expressive, not the fiery coupling of the night before.
Toguro quietly rose and advanced on the scene before him. He would wait until the moment would carry the most brutal damage before striking and then he would hold nothing back.
With obvious reluctance Juri and Kurama finally rose and began to dress. Tossing an exaggerated glare in his direction, Juri tied the ruined edges of her top in a knot between her breasts. Chuckling in good humor, Kurama grabbed her around the middle to pull her against him for another slow, leisurely kiss.
Finally pulling away Kurama said, "We can come back here tonight if you wish."
"Mmmmm, yes. I think we should." Juri sighed as he took her hand and began to lead her to the main path to the hotel.
Silently stepping onto the path behind them, Toguro reached out and grabbed Juri by the shoulder pulling her out of Kurama's grasp.
A startled half scream emitted from her lips. Kurama whirled around at the sound, tense and ready to do battle; his rose whip already coiled in his hand.
With an incredibly lightning fast swipe of his huge, bulging arm, Toguro backhanded Kurama to the ground and turned to Juri. He pulled her to him and crushed her mouth under his keeping his eyes directed at the spot where Kurama was groggily climbing to his feet.
"You have performed quite well, Juri." He growled. "I never had any doubts as to where your loyalties lay."
Kurama felt a sinking sensation in the pit of his stomach at Toguro's words. Juri hadn't tried to pull away or deign the statement. Hiei is right. I am a fool.
Juri realized Kurama had believed that she would indeed betray him. She couldn't let him go thinking that! "Kurama, No! I nev.."
Toguro's fist swung out this time, catching Juri on the jaw and snapping her head back. Her eyes rolled shut as she slumped against Toguro's huge, muscular body. Kurama was readying his whip for a strike when Toguro raised his unoccupied hand. A harsh, glaring blast emitted from his outstretched palm, hitting Kurama fully in the chest, knocking him to the ground once more.
"You see, little fox, Juri is mine. The Dark Tournament is mine. And at this moment, your life is mine to let you keep, or take as I see fit."
With no effort at all, Toguro slung the unconscious Juri head down over his shoulder and strode to where Kurama was again struggling to get to his feet. With a low, rumbling chuckle, he reached back with one foot and launched a powerful kick to Kurama's head.
"I choose to let you live today. Karasu would be most displeased if I deigned him his pleasures." He chuckled again at the double meaning of his words and strode out of the clearing leaving behind two sets of broken dreams as well as Kurama's unconscious body.

Like I have said before, I promise not to quit my day job!
Hope that somebody somewhere found some enjoyment in this.
