Chapter 1: Operation Maya Has Begun

~ On the street ~

 

Ami was walking to school in deep thought about her brilliant plan to steal Shuichi away from the vile queen, a.k.a. Maya. While she was thinking, Ami suddenly bumped into an old friend.

 

“Hey Ronin, want to do me a huge favor?” she asked him.

 

“Umm, I guess so. What is it?” he answered.

 

“I will give you 3,000 yen if you steal my purse in the hall right before lunch today,” Ami told him.

 

“Sure Ami, I probably owe you a favor anyway.”

 

“ Thank you so much. Oh, and Ronin don't tell anyone or ask why I am asking you to do this, ok?”

 

“No problem Ami,” he said as he started to walk away.

 

` Now to get Shuichi near the hall when Ronin steals my purse' I thought as I continued to walk to school.

 

~ At school ~

 

Maya casually walked up to Ami with a pleasant smile on her face.

 

“ Ami, I didn't see you all day yesterday! Why is that?” Maya, in her fake sweet voice asked.

 

“ I wasn't feeling too well, so I went home earlier than I expected. I didn't want to get you sick Maya.” Ami, in her fake sweet voice, replied.

 

“ Oh, how sweet of you. Too bad though. I really missed having my right hand girl at my side. Let me see your class schedule,” Maya demanded.

 

While they were comparing schedules, Ami saw Shuichi talking to a boy she knew as Yusuke Urameshi. ` He will help me. He hates Maya as much as I do' she thought.

 

“Ami, we have a problem.” Maya said quite annoyed.

 

“What is it Maya?” Ami asked

 

“We only have one class together and what's worse is that it's boring PE! GOD! You'll have to fix that right away!” Maya practically screamed and walked away with her posse following behind her.

 

As soon as Maya turned the corner, Ami looked over to the spot where she saw Shuichi and Yusuke only moments before. She didn't see Shuichi there anymore, Ami only saw Yusuke looking very confused.

 

Ami started to walk towards him when she saw him smirk. He looked like Ami just hit on him and was claiming her prize.

 

“Did you finally come to your senses and realize that I'm handsome and come over here to make out?” he pervertedly asked.

 

“Cut the crap Yusuke! I need you to do me a favor,” Ami demandingly replied.

 

“Geesh! I was only kidding! Whatever the favor is I'll do it, but it will cost you,” he smirked.

 

“How much?” she asked very annoyed at this moment.

 

“6,000 yen.”

 

“What! How about nothing,” Ami started to walk away, “I guess you don't want me to make Maya angry.”

 

“Okay, okay,” he said, “I'll do it for 3,500 yen. That's my final offer.”

 

“Fine, it's a deal,” she said while shaking his hand.

 

“So what's the favor?” he asked.

 

“You need to get Shuichi in the hall during the passing period before lunch today.”

 

“Why? I don't see how this is going make Maya mad,” he said completely puzzled.

 

“No questions!” Ami sternly said.

 

“Okay, fine. As long as you don't rape him, molest, or….”

“Shut up! GOD! Is that all you think about!” Ami interrupted him, “Of course I won't do that. After all, I'm not you.”

 

She walked away before his small brain could decipher what she had just said.

 

“Hey!” he yelled a few seconds later.

 

“He better be there,” Ami fiercely said behind her.

 

“Yeah, whatever,” he mumbled.

 

`I'm spending too much of my money on this operation. Good thing it is defiantly worth it' Ami thought walking to her first period, trying not to be late.

 

~ In the hallway before lunch ~

 

After the deal with Yusuke, Ami's morning classes went by so quickly that she couldn't concentrate on what they were about. In one of her classes she even blurted something out in class, which made about everyone, including the teacher, in the class to stare at her.

 

`There is Yusuke with Shuichi. In a few minutes my plan should be under way' Ami cheerfully thought.

 

Ami held her purse so that it could easily be snatched from her grasp but was careful that it wasn't obvious. As she waited Ami pretended to check out her nails to see if they were in good condition.

 

A few seconds passed when, out of the corner of Ami's eye, she saw Ronin come casually around the corner taking his time to pass her. Suddenly he grabbed her purse and ran down the hall and around the corner.

 

“Help!” Ami, the dramatic person she is, screamed, “ He stole my purse!”

 

Shuichi, the gentleman that he is, ran down the hall and around the corner after `him'.

 

` I knew it would work. He is too nice not to try and catch even a fake thief.'

 

About ten minutes later Ami saw Shuichi calmly walk around the corner, her purse in hand. He started to slowly walk toward her.

 

“Is this your purse miss?” he asked Ami.

 

Ami didn't know what to say. She tried to answer but nothing came out, her mouth didn't even move. She was just standing there, lost in his gorgeous, emerald orbs. She would have stood there forever if he didn't speak again.

 

“Miss?”

 

“Oh, uh, yeah it is. Sorry,” Ami sputtered.

 

“ I'm terribly sorry, but I didn't catch the person who stole your purse.”

 

“No need to be sorry. I got back my purse and that's all that matters right? How could I ever repay you?”

 

“No need to repay me miss…”

 

“Ami, just call me Ami.”

 

“Okay Ami. Like I said there is no need to repay me.”

 

“Oh no, but I insist.”

 

“Okay, if it makes you feel better, if I ever need a favor I will come to you first.”

 

“Okay, it's a deal.”

 

` Phase one complete' Ami happily thought as she casually walked away.

 

Ami walked into the cafeteria and looked to the table where they usually sat. She spotted Maya sitting there with her posse.

 

“Ami, over here!” waved Maya.

 

Ami walked up to her and sat down beside her.

 

“Glad you made it to lunch,” Maya said, ”I was starting to get worried.”

 

“Sorry,” Ami replied, “I had to talk to a teacher. So boring.”

 

“So, back to our conversation on my party tonight. Of course all of you will be coming. Ami can you make it?” Maya asked.

 

“Yeah, sure, I'll be there,” she replied.

 

“Now what about decorations and…..” she talked to the rest of the group while Ami spaced out. She was thinking about what she should do about phase two of operation Maya.

 

~ Last Period ~

 

“Students, don't do anything destructive while I'm gone, got it,” our study hall teacher said as he hurriedly walked out into the quiet and empty hallway.

 

The period passed quickly as Ami thought about her plan. Before she knew it the class was over and the bell rang.

 

The whole class quickly got up and raced out into the, now noisy and crowded, hallway. Everyone was excitedly talking glad that another day of school had passed.

 

Ami opened her locker and grabbed her stuff to go to Maya's house for Maya's party that mainly her posse and closest friends were attending. As soon as Ami shut her locker she saw Shuichi heading toward her.

 

“Hi,” Ami said, “to what do I owe this pleasure?”

 

“ I need you to do me that favor that you owe me, that is if you don't mind,” he politely explained.

 

“Sure, what is it?”

 

“I need you to get Maya to stop obsessing over me. She keeps following me around and asking me out.”

 

“Why do you think I can do that?”

 

“Everyone knows how close you to are. Will you do it? Please?”

 

Then it hit Ami. Phase two of her plan. It was perfect, but she had to get Shuichi to cooperate.

 

“Okay, I've got an idea,” she said, “How about we go on a fake date. I'll make sure that Maya sees us.”

 

“I don't know,” he said unsure of what he was getting himself into, “I'll think about it.” He slowly walked away obviously in deep thought.

 

` I hope he goes for the plan. It's the only way to make sure she gets jealous' Ami thought as she left the school walking towards Maya's house.

 

~ The next morning ~

 

Ami got up and quickly got ready for school.

 

` Today is going to be an interesting day. I can feel it' She thought as she opened the front door.

 

“Bye,” Ami yelled as she shut the door behind her.

 

Ami walked a little ways down the sidewalk when she saw Shuichi coming towards her.

 

“I've made my decision,” he said.
