Funeral of my Rose
You stood at the tombstone of your love, silently sending a prayer to the heavens above, hoping he could hear your loving words. Your _(H/C)_ bangs covered your tear stained, emotionless face. To you, life is nothing without the one person who understood you and loved you to no end. It is empty...just plain empty..like your black eyes. Yes. Your eyes were the first thing your love noticed when he first met you. They were black, they seemed so endless and empty. He instantly knew that your heart was also empty. Without love or compassion so, he decided to change that, which wasn't easy for him since you were so stubborn like your half-brother. Your mind flashed through all the times you have been with him. Since the moment you had first met to the time of his death. New tears brimmed in your eyes as you remember his death, it was about a year ago. A demon by the name Shiguire sent one of his hit men to eliminate you because your brother had gone back on his word. He had accidently told you he was your half brother and somehow Shiguire had found out. You remember it so clearly...

You were sleeping contently with your love by your side, his arm wrapped around your waist and his hand was absent-mindedly stroking your hair. Then a crash was heard throughout the temple, causing you and your love to jump awake. You could instantly feel the onimous energy radianting everywhere. You love released you from his loving embrace and got up from the bed.
"Listen Reiko, stay here. I'm going to check it out." He said, pulling a crismon red rose from his long red hair as he exited your bedroom.
Against your better judgement, you decided to stay untill he came back. You knew better than to go back on his word. You've had countless lectures coming from him after you kept getting yourself in trouble and you really didn't feel like recieving another tonight.
You sat on the bed and waited, waited, and waited till you finally snapped. You grabbed your katana which was resting against your nightstand and unsheathed it. You had a bad feeling something was about to happen and you were taught to never let your guard down, not even for a nanosecond. Then suddenly your window aburptly broke open, making millions of glass shards flying across the room. You turned your head over to the window to meet a very repulsive looking demon with yellow sickly fangs and green skin. His yellow eyes stared at you with bloodlust as he took a meancing step torward you. You took battle stance as he drew nearer and nearer...then,
"AAAAHHHH!"
The demon fell down to the floor with a sicking thud, your katana impaled in his stomach. You frowned at the demon's pathetic attmept to assasinate you.
"I sat there for lord knows how long, worring myself over a worthless threat like him?? Jeez!" You said bitterly, wiping off the demons blood with a cloth. Then the door was swung open and in came your love with worry evident on his face as he scanned the now late assasian on the floor. He rushed over to you, looking over for any wounds you might have gotten.
"Reiko, are you allright?Did he harm you?" He asked you, still checking your face, arms, and legs. You laughed at his concern for your well-being.
"I'm allright...he was just a low-class demon, no big."
Your love sighed in relief as he wrapped his arms around you which you happily returned.
"I'm just glad your safe, I admit, I was worried when I heard that scream, I thought it was you." He murmured, stroking your hair. Then without you or your love's notice, the demon you 'killed' got up on his feet, unsheathing a dagger and aiming it on your back where your heart was located.
'You went back on your word Hiei, now your precious sister dies!'
Meanwhile outside somewhere in the Makai, Hiei was sleeping on a tree limb replaying your happy expression when he 'accidently' told you he was your brother. A small smile etched his face as he continued to replay that image.
'You went back on your word Hiei, now your precious sister dies!'
Hiei jolted awake upon hearing that telepathic message, he immediatly bounded out of the tree and using his demon speed, headed to the portal he used to get to ningienkai.
'How could have I forgotten about my promise? Thanks to me, Reiko's in danger! If that baka lays a hand on her, I'll make sure he suffer a slow and painful death!' Hiei thought as he contiued his way to the portal.
After a few minutes, he found the special portal that led to Genkai's. A portal only Hiei could get through. Without another though, he raced into the portal and out. Hiei quickly sped through Genkai's forest, all the while unsheathing his katana. Genkai's temple came in the distance, he felt an onimous aura emitting from within and also a life energy that was rapidly fading.
'No! it can't be! Reiko, I'm coming!' He thought, leaping up to your shattered bedroom window and entering it. Upon entering, his heart skipped a beat as he saw you on your knees, holding a bloody Kurama in your arms, crying loudly.
'No...it cannot be...Kurama is..'
Hiei glanced over to the demon assasian that Shiguire hired. He had a katana impaled in his chest and had many cuts and scratches.
"No..no...no..no.." You cried, burying you head into Kurama's chest. Then a hand found your way to your face. You opened you eyes to half-lidded emerald eyes.
"Kurama?! We gotta get you help right awa--"
"Reiko....it is no use now...I--i could feel my life slipping...but I just want you to know that I love you and I would give up my life for you, which I just did, without a second thought...and thank you for the happiness and love you gave me..."
Then he pulled you slowly down to his face and he brushed his lips fully against yours which you returned. Hiei was watching this whole scence with shocked and sad eyes, he can't help but let a lone black tear escape his eye and it fell, transforming into a black korrime gem. Then you felt Kurama go limp in your arms. He was dead and to you, you were dead. The spark of your life was gone, forever.
"Goodbye Kurama..Aishiteru."
~*~
You replay those last words over and over again while keeping a straight face. It was hard, but you promised yourself to be strong for Kurama and you. You knelt down on the ground and layed a crismon red rose on Kurama's tombstone. You read the golden words engraved on the tombstone: May you live forever in our hearts.
You smiled at that thought. You knew wherever you went, he'd be there watching over you.
"Reiko."
You turned around at the mention of your name and saw Hiei and a tall man in a long tan trench coat standing several feet behind you.
"Hiei? What brings you here and who is that?" You ask, observing the tall man with a newborn's curiousity. The tall man had on a tan brown trench coat and a matching hat to go with. He wore brown shoes, brown pants, brown gloves. His outfit was very..brown. His long hair was an unusual mix of red and silver, He seemed somewhat familar to you but you couldn't put your finger on it. If you could just see his face, but it was hidden by the blasted hat he was wearing.
"He's just a friend. His name is Mamoru* and he just came to visit" Hiei said in his usual cold voice.
You walked up to the tall man named Mamoru. He was at least 7 feet tall and you were only 5 feet tall barely passing Hiei. You bowed before him and smiled.
"My name's Reiko and it's nice to meet you Mamoru-san." You said in an even and calm voice. You were surprised your voice didn't stutter since you don't talk as much. You were reminding everyone of Hiei.
"A pleasure Rei-chan." He said in a deep and smooth voice. His voice reminded you of someone but you still couldn't grasp it.
"Well, I'd better be off. I promised Genkai I'd be home before dark. Bye Hiei, bye Mamaoru-san!" You yelled as you ran past the two demons, your black trench coat swishing with your movements.
"Mamoru? Hiei what kind of name is that?" 'Mamaoru' asked Hiei, his golden-green eyes glimmering with annoyance.
"Well, what else should I call you? I can't reveal who you really are, baka fox." Hiei said with irritation.
"Expalin to me again why I can't tell Reiko who I am?"
"Because Shigiure is still out there and he is still a threat. Untill he's captured, do NOT reveal to Reiko or anyone else that you are Kurama. Understand?"
"Yes."
Then in a flash, Hiei dissapeared to follow you home, leaving Kurama standing in front of his tombstone. His eyes lingered on the rose you left for him.
~If only I could tell you, Reiko. If only I could hold you, kiss you, and stay by your side like I used to. I love you, Reiko, even in death.~

Sam: Okay...so what do you think? Oh and I need to give you a few explanations regarding the one-shot.
Reiko- If I'm correct that means daughter of Rei which means spirit.
Mamoru- means earth in japanese. I think it fits. *shrugs*
And in case you didn't know already, Shuiichi and Yoko have fused. Well I hope you enjoyed it. Please Review and tell me what you think. Maybe I might turn it into a story. Construtive critisism is accepted just no flames please. Later!
