It was a quiet day at Genkai's temple. The birds were chirping. Wind was blowing softly. The sun was shining upon the garden around the temple. Of course, when something that good happens, there's always something that will soon disturb the quiet.

"Genkai! Grandma! You there?.!"

"Yukina! I, Kazuma Kuwabara, have come to--"

"Will you shut up, Kuwabara!.?"

"What?! Why don't you?!"

"Yuusuke. Kuwabara. We have injured people here who were nearly at the brink of dying."

"Well then tell him to stop shouting!" the two boys yelled.

Kurama sighed as they walked through the doors of the temple to see that Yukina was rushing towards them. "Yukina."

The Koorime stopped before them and smiled. "Hello Kurama." She then turned to Yuusuke. "I'm afraid Genkai is busy."

"With what?"

"She and Botan are trying to heal the kids that you've rescued on your last mission." Yukina said. "I was told to take you to them when Genkai felt your kis coming this way."

The Tantei followed the Koorime down the temple hall and walked in the opened door of a room. Inside were four kids who were laying down on a futon. Kurama frowned. They had found five kids who were held captive. Yukina seemed to realize his suspicion for she quickly said, "Oh. The boy had woken up earlier and had gone off to the forest."

Kurama accepted this with a nod and then turned back to the four unconscious kids. When they had gone and got them, he hadn't had a proper chance to look at them.

The one who was closest to him was a girl. She had orange colored hair that was strangely a shade lighter than kuwabara's. It reached to her middle back from what he can tell before he realized that when they found them, she wore a dark blue ribbon. He looked around before finding it beside her futon. Her outfit was quite simple. a school uniform for Saryashiki Jr High.

The one beside her was another who had hair the color of the night sky at midnight. However, Kurama noticed that, at the right angle, the hair seemed to show strands of pale orange color, like faded leaves in fall, . He put that away for later questioning. The outfit the unconscious girl wore was entirely dark colored. She wore a black shirt that had a dark blue skirt that went to her knees. Around her neck was a silver chain that had a...

Tear gem... Kurama thought, eyes narrowing. The gem was dark black and the light reflecting on parts of it made it look a bit red-ish for some reason. But he didn't care about that. What he wanted to know was where the girl had gotten it. No one he knew could make that color hiruiseki. Where did she get that...?

Shaking his head to clear it, he stored it away so he can ask when the girl is awake. He then looked at the other girl next to her. She had black hair, a shade lighter than the other girl's, hair that was very messy. Her attire only consisted of a white t-shirt ripped to look like a tank top and a pair of blue jeans. beside her was a lead pipe with blood stains, why'd she have that? he'd never know.

The last girl seemed to be the smallest of them and had light brown hair that reached to her chin. She wore a pink sun dress with daisies on it, and a pink ribbon in her hair. strange, this girl seemed to be familir to him.

"Yo! Grandma! How are they doing?" Yuusuke asked, finally breaking Kurama out of his thoughts.

"Quiet, Dimwit." the old woman snapped. "And to answer your question, they're doing fine. Yukina and Botan had cleaned their clothes and we finished healing their wounds."

"How did the wounds look like?" Kurama asked.

"Whips by the looks of the scars. Burn marks and sword cuts. It's safe to assume that they've been tortured quite badly." Genkai answered, taking a sip from her tea cup. "I don't know how that happened or anything, however."

"Didn't you ask the one who was awake?" Kuwabara asked.

"Tried to when he woke up but he disappeared before I could say anything."

"What do you mean 'disappeared'?.!" Kuwabara exclaimed.

"I'm guessing you're talking about Kei, huh? He always do that." Everyone in the room immediately tensed at the unfamiliar voice. Kurama's hand instantly went to his hair, griping on a seed. "Whoa. Don't be alarmed."

They all looked at their guests to see that the brunette had wakened up and was currently looking at them with emerald green eyes in confusion. She was sitting up and was stretching her arms as well. "So mind telling me where exactly am I?"

"Uhh..." Kuwabara and Yuusuke were lost for words, Hiei never spoke, Yukina and Botan were staring at the girl, and Genkai seemed to be distracted by something outside the window so Kurama took it to his job to explain. "You're at Genkai's temple."

The girl blinked. "Oh. Anyway, who are you?"

"I'm Kurama. This is Yuusuke, Kuwabara, Genkai, Yukina, Botan, and Hiei." he introduced. She didn't feel any killing intent from him so she felt it would be safe if she told him their names. Besides, if he even tries to attack, the five of them will be able to restrain him.

The girl seemed to be shock for a moment before grinning. "I'm Kokoro. You're probably wondering who my companions are, right? Well," He pointed to the first girl, "That's Yukiko." He pointed to the girl beside her, "That's Hana,Kei's sister." and finally, he pointed at the last girl in jeans, "That's Sayaka, watch her,she tends to get into alot of things."

"And the other one?the boy" Yuusuke asked.

"Oh. That's Kei" the girl finished, starting to get up halfway.

"Kokoro, please refrain from getting up." a male voice said, making everyone but Kokoro tensed. In fact, the boy seemed happy to hear it.

"Aw but Kei, you know I heal fast." she said, pouting and staring at the boy who had appeared in the porch .

"For a ningen." the he added.

"Ah shut it, Kei!"

Kurama looked at the newcomers, starting. he had orange hair that mached the falling leaves outside, that same light shade,However, he saw quite a bit of black at the roots, like his hair was orange but tipped black, His hair was tied down around the shoulders with a navy blue hair tie though a few strands framed his face. His crimson red eyes were the same color as Hiei and Yukina's which surprised the fox a lot. he wore a chinese shirt that was navy blue and silk but black martial arts pants.

Very odd... Kurama thought, nodding slightly though not knowing.

"So you are Kei, I take it?" Genkai said.

"Yes. And you are the famous Master Genkai, am I correct?" Kei said. The old woman nodded and he turned to Kokoro. "How long?"

The others were confused but Kokoro seemed to understand perfectly. "About five minutes. They just asked us for our names. Don't worry!" He shook his head, sitting back down, and crossed his arms. "You gotta loosen up a bit. Like you used to be before we were--."

It was at that moment when the jeaned girl woke up, hazel brown colored eyes opened, and yelled, "Kei!"

"Who?" Kuwabara mouthed to Yuusuke who shrugged in return, confused.

"Baka! Don't wake up the others." Kokoro said, whacking the girl over the head. She rubbed her head before realizing where she was.

"What happened? The last thing I remembered were..." She trailed off when she saw the Tantei, "them...Holy fucking shit!"

"Language." Kei hissed.

"Sorry." Sayaka, the black haired girl, muttered.

"When are Yukiko and Hanna going to be awake?" Kei asked coldly.

"A few hours at most."

"How...?" Kuwabara was lost for words.

Kokoro grinned. "Kei and Hanna are sibblings. he won't tell me how but he says their blood ties them together, creating a bond."

"Siblings?" Kurama repeated, looking at the fire demon who had remained silent the entire time but he knew he saw him tensed when he said that. "How? They look nothing alike."

"That will be my business and not yours. Kokoro wasn't even supposed to know. She and Sayaka found out when a demon blurted it out." Kei crossed his arms. "All you need to know is not to tell Yukiko"

"why?" Yuusuke asked. Kei flinched rather noticeably so they all knew it was probably true.

"Yukiko is their cousin" Kotaru interjected. "She'll freak and--"

"Kokoro..." Kei hissed at him, hand on his katana's handle. "Say anymore and I'll be forced to take your head off."

"I dare you to!" Kokoro shouted.

"Kokoro, you know perfectly well that Kei has permission to kill anyone who tells other people of his history." Sayaka said. Her tone of voice told everyone there that he wasn't someone you wanted to be your enemy.

Kokoro paled as well as Sayaka while the others looked at each other, confused and nervous at the extra information.Kei shook his head. " don't remind them. It's fine."

"Kei..." Kokoro looked at him "Yes i know"

Kurama's brows furrowed. Know what?
