Gangsand Demons

Ch. 2- School Fun

The alarm rang obnoxiously, waking you from your dream. Not that you minded. The dream had you a little freaked by its vividness.

You stood in a completely dark space. No light broke the gloom. You shouted, "Hello?" It echoed over and over in the silence. Turning slowly, you found that the dark was everywhere, and you were all alone.

A voice called out, shocking you. "This is what your life will be like if you join a gang!"

"I doubt it!" you yelled back. "It's more of how my life is now!"

"This will be your life," the voice repeats.

"No!"

"Your life and everyone you hold dear will be consumed by this darkness."

"I just want to fight! Nothing more!"

"Fine," a more familiar voice growled. Then Hiei jumped at you, his katana drawn.

`What is it trying to tell me?' you think. Shrugging mentally, you crawl out of bed to get ready for school. When you finally run downstairs, a little late as usual, you're in black jeans, a long-sleeved black top with multicolored ribbing across the chest and around your upper arms, and boots. Your HC hair is pulled into a ponytail. You look at yourself in the mirror. Everything about you seems small. You're short, barely developed in the front, slim waist, and barely flaring hips. No wonder you can pull off looking like a guy.

Flushing from the memory of last night, you grab a Pop-Tart (whatever your fav. is) and run outside just in time to catch the bus. Per usual, the ride is noisy, but informative. Seems Kurt and the Cadres were lying low for a time to build up their strength. Rumors were flying about how some strange boy had beaten up the gang. You smirked as you heard the various rumors. Some had you to be 6' tall with bulging muscles, while others had you down as being a proficient black belt. Some had you beating the entire gang, while some maintained the actual six in the fight, although saying you beat them all up. Overall though, there was an undertone of relief for what happened to the Cadres. However, you needed to know what the repercussions would be in your case.

At school, the normal hustle and bustle prevailed, broken only by the groups of boys who passed ominously through the hall unchecked. Most of the gangs showed membership through colors, like Lions wore mostly blue; Cougars were red, and the Bachi orange. Others you just had to know. The TÅshi was one of those groups. You faltered in your struggle to open your locker. Would he be here today?

Glancing around, you tried to find the TÅshi. No sign of them anywhere. You breathed a sigh of relief before going back to your locker. "Stupid, idiotic thing!" you muttered as it refused to open for the fifth time.

"Let me," someone said before giving the thing a swift kick. The locker popped open.

"Thanks," you said as you transferred books. To you surprise, your "helper" didn't leave. Looking to your left, you see black boots, loose black pants, and the bottom of a black cloak. You groan mentally. He would decide to come to school today. You raise your eyes to meet his crimson ones. "Can I help you, Hiei?" you ground out.

He lifted an eyebrow in a sardonic expression. "That's no way to treat a person who just helped you." He smirked.

You repressed a snarl. "I never asked for your help."

Without warning, you were against the lockers, a hand against your throat. A few students passed by, barely glancing at the scene before moving on. You struggled to get out of his grasp, glaring at him all the while. His smirk deepened as he tightened his grasp. You continued to struggle, but it was lessened. Your breathing was shallow and gasping.

"Not so strong now, are we?" he asked mockingly.

"F-you," you hissed, grabbing at his hand to get him to let go. (AN: I debated spelling the whole word, but I don't do more than above, so...*shrug*)

"Temper," he warned lightly, but his eyes narrowed.

Suddenly, a hand was placed on Hiei's elbow. You glanced over and saw Kurama, the strategist of the TÅshi. "Hiei," he grinned lightly. "Let go of YN ."

Hiei's grip loosened, but he didn't let go. The bell for class rang, but only you flinched. What a day to be late to class! "Why should I?" Hiei was saying. "What I do is none of your concern." He turned back towards you.

Kurama frowned. "Hiei, we need to go. Word is that the Urami is on the move. Yusuke wants to be prepared."

"Hn." Kurama's frown deepened. "Fine. I'm coming." He focuses on you again. "As for you," he leans in to whisper in your ear. "Meet me in the park after school, or else." He shoved you against the lockers before walking off. You glared at his back, rubbing your hand where he had grabbed you. With your other, you grabbed your stats book, noting that the Urami, Toguro's gang and the TÅshi archrivals, were on the move. But that was an automatic move. Your mind was actually still registering how his breath had felt on your ear.

Well, that does it for chapter two. I'm almost done with chapter three...YAY!!! Anyway, just a note: the Bachi and the Urami are both gangs. Bachi means divine punishment and Urami means grudge. I thought the latter would fit with Toguro, don't you agree? Thanks once again to my beta-reader, BlondKittyBarbie, for all her help. Oh! I just remembered! I haven't done a disclaimer. But do you guys really need me to tell you that I don't own the characters? Anyway, review please! I like getting reviews. Makes me feel special.
