The Story behind the Fearsome Yugure

 

 

Hiei sat in a tree in the Makai. He was getting really frustrated. All the clues hiei had managed to gather in his search for Yugure in the past month were extremely vague. All he had been able to get was that the demon surfaced rarely and in it's wake left a path of death and destruction. The demon had nothing but enemies in the makai. And even those who had not ever even seen him before feared his wrath greatly.

 

“Damn…” he muttered.

 

Where could he find anything that would help him? Every possible lead he had followed guided him, constantly, to dead ends. He folded his arms angrily across his chest then caught the sound of the soft rustling of leaves.

 

“What do you want, Koenma?” he said without moving.

 

“Heh, I guess I can't hide from you, now c-“ His teenage form began.

 

“Get to the point, Koenma, I am not in the mood right now…” Hiei interrupted coldly.

 

“Well actually, Hiei I was thinking you would help Yuusuke on his next mission.”

 

“And why would you think that? All of Yuusuke's petty assignments mean nothing to me, now. And if you want you can throw me in Reikai prison for all I care, but not until I've found-“

 

“-Yugure? … Hiei about a day ago a little girl of 12 contacted Yuusuke, knowing somehow that he was spirit detective. She talked about some one who went by the name Yugure.” That got his attention!

 

He gave a small heavy, annoyed sigh then jumped down from the branches of the tree and turned to look Koenma straight in the eye. “If I find that you are lying…”

 

“I know… but the thing is, Hiei- I'm not!”

 

“… Fine…”

“Have any of you ever heard of the Legend of the Three Crystals?” Koenma said importantly. They were now at Yuusuke's apartment and Koenma had returned to his toddler form.

 

“Yes. I believe I've gotten wind of it. But I've never actually heard the story. Why?” Kurama replied, questioningly

 

“Well it isn't a just a legend- it just happened so long ago that it has become nothing but a legend. Listen to the story because this has everything to do your next mission, and is extremely important.

 

“Long ago I'd say about a millennia ago there surfaced to power a great hi Youkai, whose name has been lost, that ravaged the world of the makai. So fearsome and powerful was this particular demon that his powers even gave great length to his lifespan. Over the course of several years the great youkai acquired many followers and together they began laying waste to the makai and He was given the name Yugure, the Destroyer. Yugure's powers were centered on dealing painful death to all his enemies and he was unstoppable, however his path of destruction slowed as a goodly Koorime's power began to trouble the demon greatly. This Koorime eventually acquired powers opposite though equal to Yugure's. Because this Maiden's deep love and kindness for others was so profound and benevolent she was given the name Yoake, the Protector.

 

“For a century they were constantly at arms with each other, but each battle never decided a victor. However that would change as a demon of the wind began to gain power as well. This demon was collective and self-refined. He relied on himself and had his own disagreements of sorts with the beliefs of both Yoake and Yugure; he was called Churitsu, the Mysterious. His own powers grew and great wars began between the three powerful demons and their followers. For nearly 3 centuries their battles shook the entire demon world to its core.

 

“Then somewhere around five hundred years ago they met on a final battlefield. The battle lasted for a solid month before finally the three powers came to a final confrontation- however something completely unexpected occurred. On the battlefield they were perfect equals. Near the end of their great battle all three powers collided and all three demons were destroyed. But Yugure would not have it. He used all that was left of his strength to seal his powers and part of his spirit within a crystal so that it would force my father reincarnate (so that proper punishment could be done upon his ENTIRE soul) but he accidentally did the same to the souls of Yoake and Churitsu as well. So he reincarnated their spirits but he tricked the demons- he gave the soul fragments to human bodies so that no one possibly acquire the awful powers possessed by the three.(since not only did they need the spirit fragments, they also needed powerful demon blood of the demon races they had been born into so that they could truly realign their spirits and reawaken the energy AND so that they wouldn't simply die of the overdose of power) The human bodies each retained a human soul and a piece of a demon spirit. It was intended that Lord Enma should find the other soul fragments and eventually take the spirits back to Reikai where they belonged. But he hasn't been able and demons had! And somehow their reincarnated bodies have received the power. And thus your next mission is to go to the Makai where Yugure is now and try to uncover how they obtained their powers once again.”

 

“And how exactly are WE supposed to find him?” Yuusuke questioned.

 

“Well you'll have the help of Amai!”

 

“Amai? Oh you mean the 12-year-old-girl that was here the other day?”

 

“Hai…”
