Nightmares

Loud footsteps could be heard storming down the hallway just as the door to the small room flew open—a flustered Spirit Detective and panting Kuwabara appearing in the doorway.
“What in the hell is going on in here?!” Yusuke snapped in an irritated tone.
But he was ignored as Kurama held a sobbing Sho in his arms—slowly rocking back and forth, and patting her heaving back comfortably. Yusuke scowled at her, and approached the pair with clenched fists. He reached down, and roughly shoved Sho's shoulder back, tearing her away from the fox, causing her to fall back on her sickbed with a grunt. The Spirit Detective then continued to glare down at her tear-streaked face—oblivious to the growing danger just behind him.
“Whore! You go off and murder an innocent child, and then you think you can seduce Kurama just to get out of it?!” His hand came up, and began to curl into a tight ball as he swung it at the demoness.
He never got close as another fist—this one with sharp claws hungering to dig into his warm flesh—came across and sent the foolish Detective flying back into the far wall.
Yusuke looked up at a snarling Kurama as blood began to pour from his lip and a slash wound right above his now black left eye. The kitsune's golden eyes smoldered with fury as he regarded the hunched-over Spirit Detective. His claws gleamed hungrily at his side, but instead of following through with both his demonic, and fatherly instincts to rip the stupid boy's throat out, he turned his back angrily to Yusuke.
“If you ever even think about trying to lay a finger on her again, I will not hold back. I will kill you, Yusuke.”
Yusuke opened his mouth to give a retort—
“I…didn't mean…”
All heads turned to Sho, her knees tucked into her chest, and her eyes dark—searching inwardly for something.
“I don't know…what happened…” she said softly.
“Sho…” Kurama placed a hand on her knee, but she shook her head, silencing him.
“I…heard the girl scream…and I went…to go see what was the matter… But when I got there…I felt…strange… Before I knew it, that first demon was headless at my feet. I didn't mean to kill him, either… I don't even remember how it happened…
“Then Shodi took over…and she showed the other two mercy…but…when I was back on the surface…my heart…” She clutched at the thin material covering her chest—unnoticed tears rolling down her cheeks as a bright crimson color flooded into her mind. “The only thing I remember after that is opening my eyes…and seeing her face…and…”
Her eyes opened wide as she suddenly shot out of bed, and ran for the door without a second thought.
Startled at first, Kurama watched her fleeing form, and then followed after quickly—two even more confused young boys following slowly after.
Sho didn't exactly know herself why she was running, but when she remembered her…nightmare…her heart had begun to beat more quickly, and she found her instincts leading her down the unfamiliar hallways of the foreign temple.
She reached a door and almost ran past it, when her mind screamed out that whatever had made her run was in here. Without hesitation, she threw the wooden frame open wide—her knees going weak as she sank to the floor in the doorway.
“Jin…” she whispered breathlessly just as the trio caught up with her.
Kurama's eyes opened in astonishment as he looked down upon the coarsely breathing form of a red-haired Wind Master. Once again, tears were flowing down Sho's cheeks as she crawled up next to him—her trembling hand reaching out to intertwine with his motionless one.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Yusuke cried out in rage. “Don't touch him!!”
Kurama turned angrily on Yusuke—overpowering the Detective, and shoving both him and Kuwabara from the room; shutting the door with a small slam behind him.
“Kurama!! Have you really become this much of a traitor?! She's going to kill him!”
The kitsune looked coldly into Yusuke's hate-filled eyes—his hand coming across and leaving a dark, red mark on the Detective's face.
“What the hell was that for?!” he screamed in the fox's face, balling his hand into a fist at his side.
“Yusuke,” Kurama said steadily, “Think about what you are saying. Does that really sound rational? You can't understand the circumstances of what is happening. This situation is hundreds of years older than you.”
Yusuke calmed some, but was still flustered, —questions swarming around in his mind. Kuwabara—feeling out of place in the whole situation—looked in between the two, when the image of a blue-haired angel drifted into his thoughts…and he was gone in mere seconds.
After long moments of silence, Yusuke finally sighed, and released the tension in his hand—looking up at Kurama in puzzled, yet true, defeat.
“And I don't suppose I could be let in on this little story?” he asked quietly.
“It is very long,” Kurama answered in the same tone.
“I've got plenty of time.”
“Good.”

Jin struggled against the darkness of unconsciousness—fighting against the hungry blackness that continued to consume his mind. Just as mental exhaustion took hold of the Wind Master, a bright, white light appeared to his right, and the weary Wind Master found himself looking down upon the smiling visage of a beautiful demoness.
He reached out an unseen hand to her, but it did not reach her peaceful demeanor.
Just as he began to fall into a comfortable peace himself—content with looking down on his love's happy face even if it was form afar—a huge shadow fell over her slumbering form; a gleam of silver catching the Wind Master's eye.
“No…SHO!” he cried out as a sword was brought into his view, hovering above her softly rising and falling chest.
He watched, horrified, as the scene seemed to play out in slow motion for him. The blade-tip veered down, and a cry filled with agony rung in his ears—haunting the Wind Master as he watched helplessly.
“Sho…” he choked.
Her lips moved as a trickle of blood dribbled down them, but her words went unheard to Jin. She coughed up more blood as she struggled to stand up—her mouth moving this time in a snarl.
The Wind Master's heart nearly ripped from his chest as her murderer slapped her back into the wall—an even more pain-filled shriek ringing in his ears.
“KOJIATSU!! YOU BASTARD!!”
Using every ounce of strength that his mind could muster, Jin lashed out at the hulking form…but he fell short. Kojiatsu reached down and picked up the horribly bleeding Sho by the collar, speaking to the girl in what went once again unheard to the trembling Jin. He watched the scene play out in hapless sorrow—a tiny part of him cheering as the she-demon's wad of spit struck her damned father in the eye; but the rest of him knowing that that had only been a minor, insignificant memory.
The bloody sword was plunged deep in the demoness's heart, and Jin was spun back into the oblivion of his mind with her final cry.

“Sho…”
The poison apparition looked down at the red-haired man in slight surprise, but shook it away as she clutched his hand even tighter.
“I'm here, Jin…please come back to me…”
His eyes moved frantically beneath his sockets in what plainly told Sho that he was having a nightmare...and a bad one at that.
“Kojiatsu…bastard…”
A twinge in heart almost made her let go of his now-sweating palm.
She knew what he was dreaming about…
“Jin!” she called out to him. “JIN!! You must wake up now!!
Her reply was a cry filled with rage, pain, and utter loss...
She reached down and wrapped him up in her arms tightly as the scream rang familiar in her ears—bringing back memories she had desperately tried to suppress.
He struggled wildly against her, hitting the woman he fought to reach unconsciously. Sho took the blows as she clutched stubbornly to him—whispering his name into his ear over and over again in hopes of reaching him. But it all seemed for naught.
Running out of ideas, Sho looked down at her redheaded love, and without hesitation, lowered her lips onto his.
His muscles seemed to freeze as Sho deepened the kiss, and in Jin's dream-state, he found himself swathed in a blinding white light. He fell into it without even trying to put up a fight…let the light take complete control of his mind—thinking that he was finally going to die and at last be united with the love he couldn't save… But instead, he found himself being pulled roughly back into reality.
Sho's eyes opened suddenly as strong arms wrapped around her back, pulling her closer. She lifted her head back a little and nearly began to shed tears of sheer joy as a pair of sky-blue orbs looked up into her own crimson ones.
“Jin…you're alive…” she choked out, a tear sliding down her stained cheek.
“Aye…as are ye…” he replied, holding back his own tears.
Even if it were a dream, the two didn't care… Right then, the only thing that mattered is that it seemed so real…so tangible… They both fell into a peaceful silence as Jin kept his protective embrace over Sho—the two being carried away into dreamless, serene, slumber…
