The day had come. At long last, Kurama had finally come to him with his answer, and it was yes. He was coming back. Back to the Makai. Back to being his partner. Back to being his friend... Kuronue shook his head rather roughly. He didn't need to get all mushy for no reason.
A small smirk began to form on his lips. He had to admit, he would miss the new female Kurama. He was rather easy on the eyes, to say the very least. Hell, even saying that he was perfect was an understatement! Still, the beautiful red head was Yoko Kurama , and the idea of having his way with him churned his stomach.
Still, Yoko was coming back, and things would be going back to the way they should be. Everything was beginning to fall into place. The youkai that he'd found was all set up and ready to perform the ritual that would turn Kurama back into his old self. His true self. He'd picked a rather secluded area to perform the ritual, a dark cave that had long since been forgotten. He was here, the youkai was here, all he needed now as for Kurama to get-
"Sorry I'm late," Kurama said as he approached him from the cave entrance. Kuronue eyed him as he came closer. Kurama was dressed in pair of black jeans and a dark gray t-shirt with a denim black coat on. Despite the fact that he was wearing rather large clothing that was very lose on him, Kuronue could tell that Kurama had lost a bit of weight.
He raised an eyebrow at him. "You look smaller," he commented. "You lose weight?"
Kurama groaned. "Thanks for noticing," he said sarcastically. "Can we just get this over with?" He turned and looked at the youkai. He was a small, shriveled creature, wrapped up in a large black cloak. "Who's that?" he asked, nodding in the creature's direction.
"Merge," the youkai answered. His voice was raspy and seemed like he had a fist full of gravel in his throat. "I've been hired to do a gender reverse ritual on someone and," he looked Kurama up and down, "am I right in assuming that someone is you?"
Kurama nodded.
"What a shame to lose such a vision of beauty."
"Hey!" Kuronue snapped. "I'm paying you to work not flirt with the she-male! Try to get laid on your own time!"
Kuronue received dark looks from both Merge and Kurama after his comment. Merge motioned for Kurama to have a seat in front of him. He pulled out a knife from the folds of his cloak and held it limply in one hand. "Your hand, please," he said, his other hand outstretched to Kurama. His hands were a hauntingly pale gray and his skin was wrinkled. Kuronue had to fight to suppress a shiver.
Kurama put his hand in Merge's and the youkai turned it palm up and sliced into it with the knife. Kurama winced slightly. Kuronue noted that he didn't take pain as well as he used to. We'll have to work on that. Merge let the blood drip from Kurama's hand into a small bowl in his lap. He then mixed it was strange powders and liquids as he began to chant in a tongue that was completely foreign to Kuronue.
Kuronue fingered his pendent as he looked at the scene in front of him. This better work, he thought anxiously.
After a while, Merge handed bowl over to Kurama and placed it in his hands. "Here," he said. "All you have to do is drink this and you shall return to your true form."
Kurama hesitated as Merge handed the bowl over to him. This was it. This was what he had waited all these long years for. With this sip, he'd have his manhood back, his old life back. He felt his heart pounding inside his chest. His hands shock slightly, but it wasn't from joy, nor anticipation.
This is what I wanted, isn't it? To be myself again. To be a man again. The words seemed to have lost all meaning to him now. He had complained about not being a man and how humiliating his current form was, but now, now that he had the chance to have everything back the way it should be...
No! I'm going to do this! Without giving it another thought, Kurama raised the bowl to his lips and drank the thick liquid down quickly. He almost gagged at the bitter taste and the chunky feeling as he slid down his throat. He shivered as he put the now empty bowl down on the floor and tried his best on to throw up. Dear God that was horrible!
He closed his eyes and waited. He waited for something to happen, but nothing did. There was no tingle running across his body, no cloud of smoke that consumed him, he didn't even feel faint! It seemed like forever before he finally opened his eyes again and examined his body. Looking down at his hands and chest, he found that he was still very much human... and female.
"Nothing happened," Kurama stated disappointed. "I'm still human... I'm still a girl! "
Kuronue turned to Merge, his eyes were a blaze with anger for the youkai. "You!" he said, his voice dripping with venom and malice. "You lied to me! You tricked me!"
"No no!" Merge said hurriedly as he shrank away in fear from Kuronue. "I performed the spell perfectly. I did everything right!"
"Then why the hell didn't it work?" he demanded rather than asked. "You must have screwed up!"
Kurama just sat there as his former partner continue to threaten the other youkai.
It didn't work, he thought. Why didn't it work? Hot tears began to well up in his eyes.
He picked himself up and quickly went home, knowing that there was no way to stop himself from crying, but that didn't mean he had to cry in front of Kuronue of all people. He felt his heart begin to break with every step he took. He had hoped... prayed for this day, and it came and went. His last hope was a complete failure.
It was all over. The dream was dead.
