Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Hiei ❯ Hiei ( Chapter 1 )
Hiei.
The name that the wind used to whisper, so silently, as he cursed it and cut it swiftly with his katana. The name he wanted to forget, the past he wanted to forget. Thinking that hate and slitted eyes and death threats will make the memories disappear. Hiei.
Is the name a curse or a sweet gift of the wind? Or is it both?
"Hiei."
He feels compelled to speak his name out loud. Hn. What is the point in a name? He would be better off if he had no name. Names, they tie you down. But if he hates it so much, why does he repeat the soft word?
"Hiei."
He frowns, angrily jumping to the top of the rounded metal fence and slashing his target again. Why does he feel so drawn to the name? He wants to forget it. He wants it to die, continue being dead. If only he had no name and was associated with death and fear and terror, now that is what he wants.
Is that what he wants? He could compromise and make the name Hiei feared. Where did the name come from? He can not remember. Was it given to him by his mother or by the band of thieves? It doesn't matter to him any more. He wants to bury it under the sand by the ocean and keep it buried until someday someone would come across it and kick it into the trash. A forgotten name, a forgotten man.
Yukina. His sister's name breaks his concentration and he almost falls off the fence. Baka.
She is not his sister, she never was. A connection by blood is different than a connection by spirit. She will never find her brother, because she has no brother. Hn. The katana whirs through the air again.
Hiei's feet, as if they have minds of their own, eagerly jump through the air again. Hiei.. is he calling himself that again? He supposes that he is, though he does not want to. So he is Hiei, Hiei of the Evil Eye, and yet he is not Hiei, and never will be.
