An Old Idiot and Some Useful Information
"That…stupid…jerk…damn…bastard…bak a…He's…so…dead…" You muttered making your way to the nearest village. Leaning on your staff, which was really a long stick that you had found out of sheer luck, you took another break. Absentmindedly you stroked your talisman the cool touch soothing you. That was until your thoughts trailed back to that Jaganshi then you continued your trek, cursing and considerably angrier then you were before.
You winced at each step, your muscles ached as did your wounds (and you could have sworn that you cracked two ribs) but the gray line of smoke reaching to the sky ahead spurred you on. First thing before you to finish your revenge you needed to get a new sword. Fight a swordsman with a sword, and a sword would make you feel a tiny bit safer. You weren't so confident in your talisman…
As you entered the town you were quite aware of the odd looks you were gaining. That did nothing to improve your mood, especially since you were plagued with images of your loss to that stupid, stupid demon. Just thinking about it made you scream, "DAMN YOU HIEI!!!!!" That caused you to gain even more odd looks, a few glares, and a several shouts telling you to shut the hell up. To answer you grumble, "Oh what do you know?"
Looking up at the signs, trying to find a sword and an anvil, the universal sign of a blacksmith shop. Very few demons knew how to read, and they never came up with their own writing. It was only the writing of the Ningenkai and Reikai, so many demons refused to write in that language, figuring that they were the stronger beings. You were the only one you knew of that had actually been taught to read and write and you had kept up the talent for reasons unbeknownst to you.
"There you are." You said, striding into the blacksmith shop. A very crude and dirty looking demon greeted you smiling showing many lost teeth. The place was dark, except for the light of the fire, and it all smelled smoky, not to mention had sort of a metallic smell… He rubbed his greasy hands on his apron as he leaned on the front desk.
"Look at you!" He cried, smirking a bit. "What happened?" Yes, you were still leaning on your staff, but you felt at least a tiny bit better thanks to the stuff Hiei gave you… You snapped, Hiei! That dumb, idiot, short (though you had no right to talk), stupid, blighter, did you mention short?
The chubby blacksmith backed away slightly, for you definitely looked murderous. "I'd prefer not to talk about it." You managed to ground out, it was almost as if lightening was sparking around you.
"Uh, of course…um, how may I help you?" He asked, careful not to get you angered again.
"I need a sword." You told him bluntly, still a tiny bit pissed.
"How much money do you have?" He asked. You snapped again, you hadn't thought of money. You weren't very rich in the first place and your sword was a family heirloom, passed down for generations…
"Uh…" You started, taking out your money pouch. Spilling out the contents of the bag, you groaned aloud. It was only a few gold pieces, barely enough to buy you a fair meal! The man shook his head, and turned from you. Damn! You couldn't even buy a dagger with so little cash! "Please sir, I need this sword!" You told him.
"I don't do charity." You nearly snorted at this. Of course no one did charity this was Makai! It was a harsh world out there in Makai and only the strong ones survived. The only loyalty demons could have was with your family or clan, but even that was a dangerous business. Not even bloodlines could save you from violence. Thankfully your parents were different. That was until Hiei…Calming down slightly you didn't want to break something and have to pay for it.
"Fine. Do you know anything of Hiei the Swordsman?" You asked, and watched him stiffen. Yes, he was a dangerous bloke for those who had heard of him. He was rather quiet, but talk of him had begun to spread. Probably he had a little bit to do with that himself.
"I've heard of him." The blacksmith grumbled, facing you again, though you could detect the tiniest bit of fear in his eyes. "Why?"
"I want my revenge." You growled in such a low tone that could certainly not be taken lightly. He shuddered; both you and Hiei were frightening, though you really didn't want to be classed in the same lot as him.
"I won't make you a katana with out money." He told you, nodding. This time something did break the small, dirty and crude looking windowpane right next to him. The shards whizzed harmlessly past him. Smirking in satisfaction, you unconsciously tapped your talisman, for comfort.
"I'm sure we could work something out, right?" You asked, in your most murderous voice imaginable. He shuddered again, as your gray eyes glinted with malicious. You had to make this work; you had sworn that your parent's death would be left without your fair revenge. Hiei was going to die at your hands, you would see to that.
He nodded weakly, backing up more. You could be really threatening when you wanted to be. "O-of course!" He squeaked, fumbling with his fingers. "Give me your st-staff." He nodded to the stick you were still leaning on. It was funny that you could be frightening when you could hardly stand up straight.
"Why?" You asked suspiciously, you were totally defenseless with out it. Except for your talisman, but you were too weak to use it, except for a few simple powers. Thanks to that stupid, idiotic, dumb, bastard, Hiei. A small voice in your head popped up and said that he was not too unfortunate looking. You immediately squashed it.
"I'll make it better. Trust me; you don't have any money for a sword anyways." He pointed out. Grudgingly you handed it to him warning him that if he didn't give it to you tomorrow you would tear him limb from limb. He didn't doubt it and promised to start to work on it as soon as he could.
Hobbling out of the shop, you had no money for a room at an inn. "Aw, shit." You grumbled. Personally, a tree didn't seem to inviting for your soreness, but you had slept in one before. Sighing, you limped to the Inn, hoping that you could at least get a meal or something.
"Ah! Hina-chan? Is that you?" You heard an unmistakably familiar voice.
"Please, no. Please, no." You whispered, slowly turning around to face the owner of the voice. There you were face to face with the most annoying demon you knew. Yes, you could recognize those unnaturally bright blue eyes and that blue hair. That arrogant smirk, a smirk only surpassed by Hiei. "Oh… Koji…it's erm…so nice…to see you…" You told the man in front of you, forcing an overly sweet smile on your face. `Aw damn, as if life couldn't get any worse.' You thought to yourself.
"What happened to you?" He asked, glancing at all your injuries. Koji was number two on your need to kill list. Number one being Hiei of course. His blue eyes twinkled as he blew a bit of his stylish blue hair out of them. You heard a few girls sigh dreamily, yes Koji was handsome and he certainly flaunted it.
"I met a guy." You told him evasively. Maybe that will dampen his attempts to try and go out with you. You see Koji was your fiancé (so to speak) when your parents were still alive. When they died that sort of fell apart, but you met him two years later and he still wanted to make you his mate. He insisted upon it and whenever he saw you again (which you had hoped would never happen) he would keep asking. It was as if he could never get it through his thick skull!
Unfortunately for you this had the opposite effect then you had hoped. "Oh! Hina-chan! What a horrifying experience! Where is the bastard? I shall kill him!" He cried out passionately, taking your hand in his. Funny, you felt a lot of death glares boring into your back; it was probably from his many new admirers…great…
Prying your hand from his strong grip, you told him in a kinder voice then you felt. "I'm sorry, Koji." Your voice hardened, "But I'm afraid this is between me and him." You couldn't help but add, "He'll kick your ass too." You walked away, back to your previous destination the inn.
"Who is this man?" He asked, keeping up with you easily. Then again you were shuffling towards the inn. But why couldn't he take a hint and leave?! Well, he is an idiot.
"It's Hiei Jaganshi." You told him, hoping that he would get scared and take off. Besides being a bloody idiot he's a horrible coward. Koji's swordsmanship was shabby; a five year old could beat him! He had no demonic power, scratch the five-year-old thing; a ningen could kick his ass. Hell, maybe the Spirit Detective could easily pulverize him, you mused. He was supposedly a strong opponent and it was said that Hiei the Swordsman is connected to him.
Again, unfortunately Koji didn't take the bait. He kept up with you, with an incredulous expression on his face. "You're going out with the man who killed your parents?" He asked his tone bewildered.
That was the last straw. You were remarkably patient with Koji this time. But he went to far and will now repent for his actions. You could have given him some mercy but then again he's an idiot. "WHAT DID YOU SAY? I'LL NEVER GO OUT WITH THAT STUPID, BASTARD, SHORT, LAZY, IDIOTIC, UGLY, THREE EYED, DEMON! I'M GOING TO KILL HIM YOU IDIOT!!!" You calmed down some to say in a slightly lower voice, since you were getting even more stares. "Do you know anything of Hiei?"
Wait? Where did that come from? You were going to edge in a threat or something, not for help. Koji's way too much of a dunce to know anything about it. But he only grinned and took your hand, leading you to the Inn.
You both took a seat at a table, you clearly confused by Koji's actions. Ordering something for the both of you, he leaned back in his seat. Giggles were heard behind you and he winked at probably some barmaid admirers that he picked up. You rolled your eyes and asked, "What are you doing Koji? I thought that maybe you had something of importance instead of just flirting with your girlfriends." You snorted.
He gave you a perplexed look. "Are you jealous?" He asked, receiving a hard slap in return. "Just asking." He muttered, rubbing the bruised cheek and whimpering.
"Why did you bring me here?" You prodded, wanting to get some information and hoping that it wasn't for another marriage proposal. The last time he asked you broke an expensive vase and had to work at the bar for three months to pay the people back.
"I think I have some information on Hiei Jaganshi." He told you. So surprised you bounced out of your seat, causing it to topple over. He grinned happily at your reaction. "I knew it would entice you."
Seating yourself back down you glared at him. "There's some sort of catch isn't there?" One thing that Koji was known for was that he could be a slippery character, it was amazing that he was such an idiot but still somehow work things in his favour.
He smiled again, "Yes, of course my dear." He leaned in closer to you his blue eyes locked in deeply with your gray ones. "It's only a simple request. Become my mate." You slapped him again, this time on his other cheek.
"Of course not!" You seethed, getting up, yet wincing, you had first forgotten about your cracked ribs but they were painfully reminding you about themselves. You knew that the pain might be a bit more intense tomorrow.
"Then no information." He shrugged, leaning back again, this time taking no notice of the newer bruise on his cheek. You now really wished that you had your sword back, he knew how dangerous you were with your katana.
"Tell me you stupid jerk!" You went from seething to fuming, clenching your fists. Of course it was all wasted, he knew that you were in no condition to fight, and your talisman would be of no help.
He shook his head, with that goofy innocent look on his face. That idiotic look, "Don't you want to kill him?" His eyes glittered maliciously, "Have the joy of smiting your enemy? Have that pain on your heart lessen?" You stared at him with surprise; you didn't even know that he knew those words. There was something that he was hiding…
"Fine, I'll be your mate." You agreed, but held up your hand for him to not kiss you, or do something he considers `romantic,' "Once I sever Hiei's head."
[Once again, sorry for shortness! Anyways, how do you like? I think this might be a little bit of a short story unless I get an idea…feel free to e-mail me with some!]
