Inexplicit Lullaby
Epilogue: cross blades
“These are the necessities to pull of the job,” a gruff, disputatious voice argued to the two lone shadows, masked in the shadows. Only the slicing sounds of shuffling papers were heard, slightly tensing the situation from lack of conversation. But that was nothing new, the murderers hired to kill for their contractor usually don't chit chat. After all this was a business meeting, and it was crucial to remain strictly professional.
“All right Shuukai . . . ” collecting the files and documents, the figure tattered over to the larger demon, heels clicking against the marble flooring. Leaning itself over the finish of the desk, so captivating sapphires brimmed mystically in his personal space, “Consider it, done.”
“Desshou, it better be . . . for your sake,” The fatal shadow stealthy vanished back to its original position beside its comrade, choosing to ignore that meaningless threat. “But I suppose there is nothing to worry about, after all. You two are the best,” His boastful tone was rancid to the ear, and rather annoying to acknowledge.
Turning to her partner in the middle of the circular room, it gazed momentarily at its partner as they stood uneasily, the figure looked to the side “Shall we go?” It stated in a questionable tone, waiting for the silent reply of its partner. The other anatomy nodded quickly as an answer, gesturing a hand motion of a yes. “All right then, let's get going.”
With a few split seconds of flapping of cloth, the two shadows that had darkened the older demon's chamber had vanished out the open widow. Leaving the youkai lord, clenching his jaw in irritation. “This best not be another disappointment,” Solace was replenished, and the state of nothingness returned.

the next night, midnight . . .
Leaves stringed to the branches clattered together in a chorus, as the wind's current rose in intensity as a powerful aura blasted passed the forest acres lining the boarders of Reikai Palace. Making the many weak demons lingering in the vegetation scrambled about and hurried back to their caves.
The pastels of purple and gray stratus clouds parted in an arranged manner, floating angelically around the fullness of the platinum moon, larger than usual. Emitting a luminescent glow, as two statuesque figures flickered through the many miles of land. With the golden structure of their target in eye view,
“This will be simpler than the others . . . ” One whispered in figurative delight, continuing to pace through the bountiful land. The other merely narrowing its eyes in response, being accustomed to this void of conversing feelings, instead hand motions or head movements.
“Hmm,” Supple lips curving into an amused smile, More simplistic . . . it makes me wonder . . . why did Shuukai make such a argue that we better complete it? Never mind. I need to focus on the task at hand.

Inside . . .
“George, I've told now, I've told you time and time again . . . Those silly ogres cannot misarrange my piles of paperwork” A steaming toddler, in royal attire grumbled angrily as he stomped furiously on his desk. Making his assistant in a yellow tiger print loin cloth, quiver under the verbal assault he was given from his lord.
“Koe-lord Koenm-,” Lips trembling as a loud shout bursted from the small pacifier-filled mouth. His pencil thin eyebrows narrowing dangerously, stomping over to the edge of his desk. Snagging a large clump of brittle blonde hair, yanking him down to the prince's level.
“Listen to me you big blue bum, I swear I will relieve you of your duties if you don't follow my instructions next time! Now I'll be here all night organizing and re stacking these papers,” Yelling in frustration. In due time releasing his hold on George's strands,
“Yes sir,” Giving a weak smile before turning on his heel as he stumbled away back into the office room.
“Darn that lame brained ogre,” Sighing as he slowly crawled back down into his chair.
After a few moments of adjusting himself to the pressure of finishing before morning, the young reikai prince began rummaging through the many piles, collecting the approved documents. Finding his thoughts slipping subconsciously from his mouth, “I need to find myself a better race of workers, it's obvious these blue fools are incapable of completing the simple tasks I have set up for them.”
Through his oral habit he hadn't caught the steady creaking of the window hinges, as it slowly opened. A frigid breeze drafted in, stifling a sneeze from Koenma. Glaring over at the open window, “Honestly, they don't even have the courtesy of keeping the damnable windows closed.” Groaning in a prolonged manner, he plopped himself of the cushion of his chair, waddling his way over to the artistically cut window structure.
Lengthening himself as he stood on his tippy toes trying desperately to wack the glass case shut over the gaping rectangular hole in his personal office. “Ugh! Rah-Almost . . . there!” pounding his small fist against
the glass, but his force was not enough on its own. Exhaling from that stretching exercise he had just performed, “I hate being so small,” But come to think of it . . . I don't think it was open a while ago, scrunching his nose in thought as . . . *crash* “Ah!”
Struggling under an abdominous weight, his colorless eyes stared up a the battered carcass of an ogre piled strenuously on top of him. The stench of fresh blood oozing out onto his clothing, wrenched his gut. “Ugh! Oh what in blue hell is this!?” shifting under the pressure of a larger, cold stiff body as raked his nails at the herbert carpeting, dragging himself out from under the weight.
“I'm so sorry, please forgive me for tossing that body so carelessly.” An unfamiliar, yet somewhat pleasant voice giggled. “I can be such a clumsy girl,” the toddler gasped a sharp intake of air. Clashing gazes with a young girl, torrents of blood staining her clothing.
A picture that seemed to be so unfitting, with the luster of innocence in her cobalt eyes. A splatter of red trickling in a rivulet of angst down her cheek, and from the looks of it, it did not belong to her. Her worn pink bangs framing her delicate heart-shaped face structure, the thicker tresses tied back in a high ponytail.
Creamy pigmented skin pattering down to the eye's view, only where her clothing didn't conceal. An ensnaring chuckle escaping her lips, which were curved into a wicked grin. “Now, I'm afraid your time has been cut short, as of now.” Raising her hand into his visual line of view, a silver knife reflecting the waves of lunar light. Tainted with more crimson fluid, “Death by a lethal killer. You should be honored anyone cares enough to have an assassin come dispose of you.” Emphasizing the term of what, she was about to preform,
“Ah-ah no I don't wanna die!” Shrieking in horrific fear of becoming a mere ghost, and the hazy thought of never returning to solid flesh gave him the jolts to begin crawling away from this woman. Nails grating away at the small fabrics cluttered together in vast fields of violet carpet,
“Hmm, that's not for you to decide I'm afraid.” Speckles of fiery amber flared in her diamond cut eyes, as her feet pounded closer and closer to her alleged target. A pearly white fang poked out over her bottom lip, flashing a chasten grin of what was to come. “Death seeks you out tonight little prince.”
Behind you . . . an intruder . . .
“Huh?” Rotating on her heel, in reflex as her partner had warned her. *smack* “Ugh!” A sudden blow knocking her back against the wall, leaving a large crack along where her spine had made collision. As someone pushed through. Wrenching her neck up right, forming acrimonious crimson slits for eyes.
“Hop on Koenma sir!” A tail of sea foam whipped behind the ferry girl, as she snatched the young prince's wrist and wrapped him in her pink kimono sleeves. As her oar jolted out the open window, leaving behind a very vicious demon, hissing out the windowsill as they flew off into the night safely.
“What on earth was that hustle, sir?” Exclaimed Botan in bewilderment, as questions flooded her candy colored eyes. She felt worried. For a natural coming of fact, she could tell that demon did not just show
itself by chance, it had a purpose for being there, creating vicious troubles. But what? She had to call the boys on this before things got troublesome then it already was.
Before the small Prince could reply to her question, she interrupted him swiftly. “We have to get to Yusuke's this seem's it'll get messy.”
The bitter cold wind singed passed them as the oar traveled at high speeds, making it possible for a portal to be made from Reikai, to Ningenkai. “Hold on sir!” Her voice rose high enough so he could heed her warning as the sound barrier broke and a blaring sounded, barbarically enough to make your ear drums numb in soreness rang out.
A swirl of dull whiteness exceeded their vison as they broke the capsule of Reikai. Winding out into the free air space of Ningenkai, “Oh lord Botan, how can you continuously do that time and time again?” The prince still preserved in toddler form, nudged his chin up.
Botan's cotton candy orbs shadowed down over him, a kindred smile crossing her lips. Even on these circumstances. “Well, it's just apart of the job description.” Her relieving bubbly humor made his stomach ease under her grip.
“Thank you so much Botan...” Not understanding what he had been adequately thankful for, a small yet unknowingly smile resurfaced. And a gesturing chuckle leaked,
“It's quite all right, Koenma sir. I have gotten use to the ride,” Her laugh was lame in a sense of intellectual lacking but nonetheless reassuring.
“No, I meant . . . for being there, rescuing me before.” The toddler's voice went passionless and dry, as it faded away into the brussel and tussle of Ningenkai's nightlife.
“Ah,” Botan's plush cheeks shaded. “It's was no problem. I'm just happy I decided to stop by and ask for a raise!” Her chipper laughter was long and drawn out, as her previously planned destination slipped the mind. “But sir?” It had ceased,
“Yes, Botan?” Feeling his usual secluded emotions dissipate.
“Can I...have that raise now?” Her infectious laughter, finally cease to faze him.
“No,” Koenma's metaphorically frozen lips finally arched into a grin.
“But sir, why I never!” The grim reaper pouted, her aqua eyebrows drooped in a tragic frown.
“We'll discuss it later,” the toddler with a pacifier in mouth jested humorously. “In the mean time, we need to get Yusuke and the others on this.”
On top of secluded building in Ningenkai . . .
“Damn it all to hell!” A choler voice rose, as the rusted railing shook violently. A fist rising in the air, “This has never happen! Now what!?” A defeated whimper escaped her lips as she slowly relaxed her tense muscles, kneeling against the metal poles lining the building edge. We have . . . failed,
The other girl just stood from afar, standing in the middle of the building top with a blank expression as she listened to her partner's endless cursing. She opened her mouth once to sigh slightly, and made her way over to the raving demon female partner's side, tapping her shoulder to ask for attention.
It was as if she were a child, reaching upon their toes. It was no exception, she could feel she was small, even when she could not at all see herself as she could only hear. Once, she asked her partner's assistance in what her appearance looked and she described her as: same height as her, pale and black hair and eyes.
She turned slightly in assumption to where her partner's voice, and took her hand gestures into her own, where she began a series of gestured word phrases with her free hand. Calm yourself, give it time and we'll most likely get him.
“We're not screwed completely, Edith . . . but that prince has seen me, and if we aren't careful. We'll be thrown in prison for life, I knew the consequences for this one but . . .” A hurtful cry escaped her lips, like a wounded beast. “I . . . don't want to be in that position. I want to be free do as I please,”
In better description, she was of abnormal height, both in her looks of clothing and style and facial features. People confused her as a harmless little human girl with a blue, long dress with suspenders attached, atop of
a white colored shirt, and with black, short hair that went down to the nape of her neck and clouded eyes. She was also noticeably, a Jewess, since a six starred necklace laced around her neck.
She motioned her fingers into words Don't worry yourself over a maybe or a what if, just stay focused, we'll be alright.
“You're right,” a friendly chuckle eased it way into becoming audible. Her contemporary school skirt waved in the night breeze, folding her arms comfortably in front of her. Her violet sweeter, sheltering her from the cool drafts. “We'll finish this, long before we ever get through into a shit hole like that.”
