Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ kiss from a rose ❯ the hidden past ( Chapter 4 )
Authors note: I don't know if kurama is a fox demon or a man-wolf. But here in the Philippines, kurama (dennis) is translated as `taong-lobo', which if translated in English is manwolf so I chose that name for my novel. (anyway, you can call it anything you like).
Here is chapter 5 `our past'
Kurama was up all night, his brain was too active, thinking about what just happened.
A day with botan proved something; she definitely is manami in some ways, her face an example. But somehow deep inside, she was a different person. This `little' thing made kurama even more guilty. Yes, she was showing affection for botan but not because he love her for who she was, but because he loved her for who she once was. And it is unfair to her, knowing that she loved him too. She was young, she has difficulties in hiding her feelings.
Suddenly, a movement in the patio caught his attention.
Come out of there hiei! He said curtly.
Hiei reappeared from behind the window and stared at his friend, hard . . .
I know you've been following me all day; kurama said, as if he had not noticed the stare. I felt your presence.
Yes, he replied dryly. And I saw clearly what a perfect fool you've been!
What do . . you mean? He asked vaguely.
I was on my way to koenma's to settle some problem in mokuro's territory, when I overheard you talking to him. I knew from your tone that it is a confidential one but nonetheless, I was curious to hear it. and I heard it all!
Kurama's face went pale. But you have no right. .
Yes I have, he interrupted you better tell me everything kurama, I know it's something that you don't want to tal;k to anyone but believe me, I can help you. Especially now that your starting trouble!
Kurama made a little gesture of perplexity. For a moment he wasn't sure if it's right to tell hiei, but after moments of thinking he finally settled on his bed an told hiei; promise me that you won't do any drastic measures after hearing this one.
Hiei nodded.
Kurama sighed. I guess it started when our superior gave me my first blood-shedding mission. He was testing my loyalty at that time, so it was a mission where I had to assassinate his enemy . . .
he had the key that will free my brother; said a deep voice from above but kurama was not allowed to see him, As always. But either way, he listened. And your job is to find out where he is hiding the key. Then, you can kill him. Everything clear now?
Yes master. He obliged.
Very well then, you may go. But remember if you fail this mission, it will cost you your life.
I know that; he said smoothly.
The plan was perfect. Chiziro was looking for a guardian to her daughter for some reasons, and seeing kurama's wit and ability, he immediately took him for the job. Now all he have to do was to gain his trust and after that, zap! The key and chiziro's head.
And all of that is for the sake of winning the trust of his only `family' he had ever known, the gang that was composed by powerful demons aiming to control raizen's land. And if kurama's assignment succeed, victory is almost within their grasp.
On his way to the palace's gates, he was met by a bunch of monsters; guards he presumed.
I am kurama; he introduced himself. The one assigned to protect mistress manami.
The guards let him in.
On the way to the castle, he heard someone singing. And surely; the most serene voice he had ever heard! He looked to see where it was coming only to find a garden full of beautiful flowers and plants. For one moment, he forgot the voice and stared intently at the lovely sight beholding him.
Hello there! Said a voice from his back. He was occupied with thought about the garden that he never saw anyone coming. So he turned and saw the lovely child behind him.
Sorry to have disturbed you; the lovely girl said. I saw that you were fascinated with my garden. By the way, I'm manami. What is your name? Do you came to see my father?
For a moment he was tongue tied and confused. So she was the girl he was assigned to protect! What as sight she is. And possibly, the loveliest flower in the garden.
I'm kurama, he introduced and offer her his hand. Im the one assigned on you, mistress manami.
Oh; she sounded pleased. But please don't call me mistress. Just manami. I don't have any friend here and I would like to treat you as one if you don't mind. Since from what I see, we share the same passion for flowers and plants.
Yes you do have plenty here. And some of them I never saw before. Where have you get them mis. . I mean manami.
She giggled making her eyes dance.I think my father got them from the human world. I always remind my father to get me some of the plants there whenever he made his so called escapades there. Looks like you're not used at calling me in my name huh?
He stared at her wide eyed. Oh my god what is happening to me; he thought. I'm so into this girl!
After a while, he asked, what do you call this bloody colored flower?
That is what the humans called a rose. It comes in different colors, but I prefer the red one. Isn't it beautiful?
Yes. Then not aware; he said, but not as beautiful as you.
Botan blushed to the roots of her hair. But then she said; I don't want to be compared at that. Can't you see, it has thorns? And for me that represents being beautiful yet being dangerous.
He didn't noticed the thorns. But yes it is there. Suddenly, an idea sparkled on his mind, How to make it a powerful weapon.
I'm sorry to have offended you. He answered anyway.
It's nothing. She said with a smile. Anyway, have you met father?
Not yet. I was planning to see him first before I saw your garden.
Well in that case, let's go! I'll introduce him to you I would love to let him know about my guardian who is also my new found friend. She said excitedly.
What a whimsical, enthusiastic child she was! Kurama had never encountered anyone who ever consider him a friend before. Surely, she didn't know how dangerous he really was.
But whatever happens, he thought as manami was holding his hand and dragging him to his father, however brutal the mission will be, he will never allow himself to include this innocent and lovely half fledged child.
He never will . .
