Kitsune-Bi

Chapter 2: Kindred Spirit

By Armand/S.P.S.

A/N: Again, m/m warning! No likies, no read! Simple as that.

Also…I changed the first chapter around a bit, to make it a little less clichéd and Westernized. So, to read the "final copy", go to http://www.efanfiction.net and look under the YYH section. I have the same user-name there…

Song quotes for this time:

well okay, enough.
you've had your fun
but come on there has got to be someone
hasn't yet become
so numb
and succumb
and
god damn i am so tired of pretending
wishing i was ending
when all i'm really doing is trying to hide
and keep it inside
fill it with lies
open my eyes?
maybe i wish i could try

pleading and
needing and
bleeding and
breeding
feeding
exceeding
where is everybody?
trying and
lying
defying
denying
crying and
dying
where is everybody?

-from "Where Is Everybody?" by Nine Inch Nails

Staring into the dead
my pain is caused by my pleasure
my soul mate lives in your body
I can't get you out of my head
It never goes away
In my life I'll need you here, don't ask why
I'll never disappear
In your eyes you can bid me farewell
but don't ever try to understand the situation
why is it everyday that I feel the pain?
It always comes when I least expect it
when I'm looking for love
always seem to be regretting it
Why is it everyday that I feel the pain?

Pant.

Pant.

Shûichi lay tired on the bed, his thoughts and perceptions hazy. He felt guilty for what he had done; what if his mother found out?

But there was a side of him that still repeated that the act of mating just performed was a necessary evil, and, besides, it had felt exquisite, and there was no damage done.

So he lay down to sleep again, trying to avoid the argument in his mind…

Creeaak. Again, creak. The sound came from the direction of his closet…

Must be the house cooling down for the night, the redhead figured. But then…

Then he saw the faint glint of moonlight off of a ruby eye and a tip of a sword.

He laid back in his bed and gulped hard as the menacing figure moved towards him.

"Kurama…" it spoke. "Thought I'd find you here. Now where the fuck is my sister?" The short being just glared at Kurama/Shûichi, the point of his katana grazing the red-haired boy's gullet.

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. You killed her, I've heard the rumors. Some hunter almost got you too, except you refused to die like a man and incarnated yourself into a human fetus to survive…pathetic." His eyes smoldered with rage.

"I-I didn't kill her…And who are you?"
"Hn. We shouldn't be exchanging pleasantries, but I'm Hiei. You should consider yourself lucky to die by my hand, fox!" Hiei lunged at him, but Kurama rolled away.

"I didn't kill her! Honest!"

"Then where is she?"

"That I don't know."

"You lie," the short fire-demon snorted. "Your reputation as a thief and murderer precedes you, fox. It must have been you…"

But then, as if out of nowhere, memories of the Yôko's other reputation occurred to Hiei…
____

It was said that even before Hiei was born, the cunning, devious fox had had his fair share of lovers, not counting the numerous yôko vixens who showed up at his door during the twice-yearly mating rut, the only time when the females were even remotely interested in sex.

And after he was born, after Hiei had become a physical adult…

Well, there was a long line of yôkai, of all genders, lined up for miles across Makai with the sole intention of making it with the legendary yôko Lothario and thief.

And Hiei had always found himself at the very end of the line, listening to the loud, feral sounds of kitsune mating…

Gods, how he hated it. How it mocked him. How the line didn't budge an inch when he returned the next day…

And he had cursed those who were lucky enough to be one-night stands for Kurama…nay, he cursed the one yôkai who was lucky enough to be considered a real lover to the devious fox.

Kuronue, who had died a long while ago. Kuronue, the lucky chimera bastard who not only got to be Kurama's partner in crime, but also a partner in everything else…

And then he received word the fox had been captured by a hunter and left for dead…and also that his sister was missing, and that the last act Kurama had done before his capture was murdering a Kôrime in cold blood…

But then again, there was a conflicting rumor that Yukina had solely been kidnapped. Hiei had to make sure.

Thus the implanting of the Jagan and everything after.

____

Hiei suddenly withdrew his sword and spat on the ground. He began to have his hesitations about Kurama, his nagging doubts, aided by the sense from his Jagan that his sister was still alive…somewhere in the human realms…

Kurama just stared at him.

"Why did you spare me?"

"That's for me to know and you, fox, to find out." He just stared back at Kurama…and damn it, even in his human body, he was getting to him…making him think things that he didn't want to think… how good it'd feel to have Kurama pin him down and screw him six ways 'till Sunday…hell, there was no honor in that, especially if there was a chance, however minute, that the guy fucking you killed your sister…

Hiei looked down at the ground and groaned.

Immediately Kurama perked up, his green eyes looking straight into Hiei's crimson ones. "What's wrong?"

Hiei's head hung down again as he muttered a soft "hn", and then walked back ton the portal in the closet.

The portal there was closed.

Kurama/Shûichi went back to sleep.

______

The next morning, when Minamino Shûichi arrived at school, the boys who normally made fun of him and beat him up now looked at him as if they had seen the very picture of evil itself, and backed away accordingly. His teachers acted like he was a juvenile delinquent carrying a full arsenal of weapons on his person, even though they knew better.

They had somehow sensed his foxflare, and were frightened.

He was alone. Alone in the human realms. Wondering if that dream last night, of the fox-spirit making love to him, of the fire-demon almost trying to kill him, was really a dream or not. If he was really himself.

If it wasn't a dream, he decided, he would like to see Hiei again in the near future. There was something about him he couldn't quite place, something awesome and mysterious…

Maybe it was that he would no longer feel alone.

Or maybe it was something else. One never knows in this masked world of ours, where only the blind can see.
