Kitsuneluvuh: Hello! And welcome to my fic!!! Bwahahahaha… Okay, I'm done. NO I'M NOT!!! *gets slapped across the face* Thanks, I needed that. Anyway, I got this idea from school. No, seriously, I did. We're doing roots, and there was this one root that caught my attention right away. Mania. And then of course we started talking about kleptomaniacs, and that gave me the idea for this story. And by now, you're probably wondering what I'm getting at. Here's the deal. I. Have. Absolutely. No. Clue. I'm just trying to get an idea out, and I hope it works. Ja!
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu Yu Hakusho. But, you're probably sick of hearing that, huh.

Counselor: ::scribbles on notepad:: I see. And when did this start, Mr. Kurama?
Kurama: ::deep breath:: About two weeks ago. It all happened on a regular Monday afternoon, around three pm. I was out with my friends…
::Flashback::
Kebinu, Junichi , Kito, and I were all walking down Kohaku Street. It was a bright spring day, and I could feel the plants calling out greetings to me in their patient gentle voices. We were going home from school, and Kebinu was complaining about the babysitting job he had.
"… little toddler. He just learned to walk, so he's into everything. And when I mean everything, I mean EVERYTHING! Peanut butter, chocolate spread, flour…"
As hard as I tried, I just couldn't make myself interested. It's not that I don't like Kebinu, it's just that compared to what I've been through, trivial issues such as complaining about a mere hour of discomfort don't concern me. Caring for a child is nothing compared to almost being disemboweled by an ice-sword, or being slowly poisoned by a plant you sowed yourself into your own body.
"… what do you think, Shuuichi?"
At the sound of my human name, I came out of my trance with a start. "Gomen nasai, what were we talking about?"
Junichi rolled his eyes. "Come on, Shuuichi! Stop spacin' out all the time! What're you thinking about, anyway?"
"Uh, nothing! Nothing at all," I said hastily. There's no way I could tell them that I was really a demon trapped in a human body. A few plants around me, sensing my unease, rustled their leaves in consolation.
"Hm, why are those leaves moving? There's no wind…" Kito (A.N. This is not the same person from the anime series. He's my O.C.) said, ever observant.
"Must be your imagination," I quickly replied, sending a mental note of reassurance to the leaves.
"Hmm…" Kito still looked unconvinced, but I could tell he was not going to push the subject further.
"Aaaannnyyy way," Kebinu continued, annoyed that his story was interrupted, "What should I do with the little brat?"
"Well," I began. "Maybe you should--" I cut myself off, my body stiffening. My senses screamed at me that we were not alone, and whatever was watching us was not peaceful. I quickly scanned the surrounding area, green eyes flashing.
"Ummm… Suichi? Are you okay?" Junichi asked nervously.
There. A flash of red in the treetops caught my eye, and the plants screamed out as the overwhelming heat hits them. "WATCH OUT!!!" I cried. I grabbed Kebinu, Kito, and Junichi around their waists and jumped to the side, barely missing the column of flame. Or, maybe not…
"Ummmm… Junichi? Your hair's on fire…" Kebinu says.
"Aw, man!" Junichi cried out. "I spent thirty minutes getting my hair like that!" He licked his fingers and pinched out the flame burning on the end of his bangs.
"Shuuichi? What the hell's going on?!" Kito demanded.
"Just stand still and don't move a muscle," I said. Reaching into my hair I pulled out my weapon; a red rose. Closing my eyes, I stretched out my senses; searching for my hidden foe. A thump of a foot on a branch, a whiff of cinder. "To the left!!" Throwing out a vine of my Spirit Energy I manipulated the rose into my rosewhip. Swinging it to the left, I heard flesh tear as the thorns caught on my opponent.
