Les amies noir chapter 13

 

Yina and Hiei came running quickly to them. Yina gave them a half disappointed look.

-“You're breaking the masquerade Dimitrir” she said with an even more uninterested tone in her voice.

-“I have to go now.” Kurama managed to get up. Kuwabara didn't try to hold him back even if he actually wanted to.

-“Kurama it's like you're been infected with the plague or something, you shouldn't be up walking let alone go away by yourself.” Kuwabaras voice was full of worry.

-“But…..I have to see Wolfgang. It'll be dawn soon, he'll wonder where I've gone.”

-“And he'll most surely look you up and punish you if you didn't return. Let's keep all of this a little secret to your teacher, he won't like it a bit.”

-“Who are you talking about?”

-“Wolfgang von Abentros. He's a Lasombra old as the middle ages.” Yina said, her face not changing expression. Both Kuwabara and Botan looked worried over this.

-“And he's my teacher.”

-“He won't let you leave Dimitrir, you're his student after all. It'll be hard convincing him.”

-“Who said I was going to convince him anything……..” There was silence again. “I can't leave you must realise…..”

-“Why?” Yusukes voice sad.

-“I can't…..I can't come with you. Didn't you witness proof of that recently?”

-“But we came here to rescue you. We can't leave without you Kurama!?” Kuwabara crying out in his high voice.

-“A noble cause, but I can not accept such kindness. Not even from you.”

-“But we'll help yo-

-“There is no cure!!” He raised his voice without turning his head towards them. “I've gone over that thought to many times by now please don't remind me…..” He could somehow feel their thoughts, their thoughts seemed rather desperate. They wanted him with them so badly. But he couldn't accept it, he would only end up hurting them the way he had now.

-“Kurama.” Hieis sharp voice in his ears. “We didn't come here to let you go. We don't care what you think about it, we are going to take you away from this, what did Yusuke call it. ´Hellhole´.”

Kurama looked over at his short demon friend with a cold face expression.

-“Are you going to take me by force Hiei?”

-“If so is needed” Hiei was ready to reach for his sword.

Instincts took over and Kurama felt that he was prepared to fight his friend.

-“Stop it you guys. You can't fight right now, not in your condition!” Botan interrupted them stopping them both. Kurama looked away, his face showing no expression.

-“I don't want you all to see what I have become, why can't you all go back. Go back and be happy. There is no cure against death.” Silence again.

-“Kurama-kun.” He felt Botans hand on his shoulder. “You're forgetting we have cured death before.”

-“You're misunderstanding again……….It is more like we are creatures trapped between life and death.” Yina filled in with a rather depressed tone. Botan dragged her hand back. Kurama did not speak up. Then he started walking away from them. No one tried to stop him this time.

Kurama stared at the roof of his room. He hadn't talked with Wolfgang since he came back he had just left to his room and laid down on his bed. He felt sad for the first time in all of these days. Now the feeling of sadness was coming over him. But there was no way he could leave, and he who just had started to accept his fate as one of the damned ones.

The black sky slowly turned to grey and when Yusuke awoke he felt a light headache. He saw that he was lying on a bed in a rather normal room. After he had walked out he saw Botan lying sleeping on a couch, Hiei was sitting by the window. Kuwabaras snoring was heard from the room beside the one he had been sleeping in.

-“Yina is sleeping” Hiei stated coldly.

-“You're sad Hiei?” Hiei didn't answer. Yusuke took that as a yes.

-“Ones it's night we'll ask Yina to guide us to this Wolfgang guy.”

-“You're so motivated Yusuke. You don't know.”

-“And what do you know?”

-“Last night Yina told me about the nine clans, and where Kurama has been forced into.” Yusuke remained silent.

-“He's a Lasombra.” Yusuke looked rather confused at this.

-“It's Spanish and means ´a shadow´.“ Hiei sounded irritated that he had to instruct the detective with the knowledge.

-“…….A shadow.”

-“Now he wields darkness as his weapon…….Now I want to fight him even more, facing his darkness against mine….” Yusuke looked over at Hiei and did he suspect that the short demon was smiling over this.

-“Don't smile at his sadness.” Yusuke found that his voice sounded harder then he meant.

-“Don't go and lecture me the way you are now Yusuke.” Hiei snapped at him.

-“Well we have to go rescue him!! We were even so damn close last ni!!-

-“We weren't close to anything except your death Yusuke!!”

-“………So you aren't going to help us rescue him are you?” The fire demon didn't turn around at this but continued facing out the window.

-“Who ever said I wasn't that?”

All Kurama wanted to do was sleep longer, but when night came ones more he felt forced to wake up. Hunger telling him that hunting again was necessary and hunting before risking frenzy was wise. He quickly moved out of his room, pass the servants, they talked happily never guessing that the man they served was a vampire. And they would never guess that either, for Wolfgang did not show himself with his unnatural appearance, and they believed Kurama to be their former masters' heir, never questioning his pitch black eyes, pale skin, the scars on his now bared arms and his nightly habits. (Humans……) Kurama looked at them while passing. (Pitiful humans)………(Yes they're pitiful. Yusuke and the others to. They're not realising what danger they are in. That every night they risk to meet the same fate as myself.)

-´Then help them realise it. It is the best way after all.´

-´Yes…..That was what I was planning.´

-´You should show them most clearly since then they do not risk to get harmed by others. You must think of the groups safety in first place.´

-´Yes. They're not safe here after all.´

-´You mustn't hesitate to use the most effective tools. For their own sake.´

-´……..Yes teacher I'll do so.´

He grabbed his jacket on the way out and threw it over his shoulder. Enter outside he saw that the full moon was up for ones. But there was no stars seen so closely to the city. He felt the wind blow though his hair. A wonderful wind this was.

Yusuke and the others had left the apartment as soon as they the night had fallen, Yina hade left them at that moment to, she said she really didn't want to search of “the Sabbat creep” as she had called him. Hiei also seemed rather unpleasant with the idea of searching, as if it was something he knew that the rest didn't.

-“Alright we'll go separate ways trying to find where that Wolfgang guy lives and then we'll meet up at that Elysium building.”

-“Agreed” Botan was the first to run into a different direction tightly followed by Hiei who travelled by the roof tops.

-“We're going to drag him back this time for sure. No second chances and we have all the clues we'd ever need.” Yusuke said in a convincing tone to Kuwabara.

-“Urameshi I'm not so sure anymore.” Both of the boys stopped.

-“When we saw Kurama before….I” Yusuke waited for a continuing. “I felt scared Urameshi……..And Botan to……You're the only one not seeing.”

-“Seeing what?”

-“He's a vamp!-

-“No he's Kurama!! And no matter what happens to the poor guy he'll always be Kurama!!” Yusuke felt anger burning up, but he was still to weakened to do anything.

-“I'm going to make sure Botan is safe I can't believe you let her run of on her own.” Kuwabara in his anger towards his friend ran away. Yusuke remained standing on the spot. No he didn't have time to think, ones they'd found Kurama and convinced him of the obvious things would be as they always had been. He used to be a youkai what was the real difference between a youkai and a vampire really. He started walking trying to get on other thoughts until he found him. Down small streets pass shops. Then he felt something, something he recognised, it was that shadow like feeling that he felt when he found Kurama the first time.

-“Kurama.” His voice in relief that he found his friend again. He followed the shadow like feeling a few blocks, he started running faster trying to follow it. Then he saw in the ally he just ran by, he saw Kurama standing there, he had almost ran by him. And to his surprise the shadow like feeling continued to escape in a different direction.

-“Yusuke why are you here again?”

He couldn't see Kuramas eyes because of his bangs but it gave as good as the same effect as those black bottomless eyes.

-“To help yo- He saw a vicious smile cross Kuramas lips revealing his teethes.

-“Foolish humans.” His voice holding nothing which made that vicious smile even worse. “You don't know what's good for you.” Yusuke looked down and saw him hold Kuwabara by the neck, he was coughing blood and seemed rather up beat.

-“What happened to Kuwabara?!”

-“You're assuming I saved him from something worse don't you?” Still not looking up at him.

-“Of course I am. I mean come on you're Kurama right. Who always helps us out by giving us those great plans, always keeping your cool no matter how bad the situation gets.” Yusuke tried to smile but something inside of him failed.

-“Ur, Urameshi” Kuwabaras voice seemed failing now it was hard form him talking.

-“For your information Yusuke I did this. And it was all to simple to do.” Kurama now looked up, his eyes still black and empty piercing Yusukes all to hard. “I could kill him right here in front of you and there would be nothing you could do to interrupt…… It is a shame though” Kurama looked down at Kuwabara “You should be the one to die Yusuke. I can imagine you dragged everyone here in the first place, you never gave up on finding me, when the others wanted to go back you didn't let them and you even gave yourself to me willingly prepared to die.” His grasp around Kuwabaras neck hardened and his claw like nails dug into the flesh. “Then again I could embrace him, just to show all of you even more of this “hell hole” you called it”

-“I'd rather die.” Kuwabaras voice hard not showing the slightest of regret in what he said.

-“Just like me then. Even though I never got a choice to that.” His eyes going away from Yusuke while saying this.

-“Kurama……. Let him go, and then we'll all go home.” His grasp around Kuwabaras neck hardened even more, blood was running out over the neck.

-“I can not do that Yusuke, and you already know why.”

-“Don't you hear your own voice Kurama!! Don't you hear your own desperation!! All of you say that I don't se but that's a lie!! Apparently I'm the only one who sees!! This isn't you talking Kurama, this is whoever you created to survive in this world. But you won't have to stay here we'll take you home and then you'll never have to think of this again!!!” Kurama face expression angered.

-“Fine suffer your own mistake Yusuke.” At that moment he slit up Kuwabaras neck digging his fangs into the wound that was already bleeding.

There was no scream, there was only silence. Yusuke tried to move up closer but was pushed away by something black that held him against the wall, he was all to weakened to break free and could only watch one of his dearest friends quickly killing the other. There was no time for farewells and at that moment Yusuke felt as if both of them died in front of him. And that it was his own weakness that couldn't save them.

He should have found Kurama sooner, he should have tried to understand him better. He shouldn't have forced Kuwabara to come with him knowing he would be put in danger. And at the last moment, he should have run, Kurama had given him a last chance to save them all. And he had blown it.

He saw Kurama standing over his friends' corpse, blood was running down from his chin and over the black armless shirt he was wearing. Now Yusuke saw the scars covering his arms, horrible scars, and those eyes. Lifeless as death itself, winded at seeing him. There were stains on the ground, the scene was horrible and it burnt into Yusukes mind, as an eternal warning. He saw Kurama die in front of him, slipping away into something unknown, because he didn't trust himself to do otherwise. This was, to him, safest for them.

Yusuke was let down from his shadow prison and he remains sitting on the ground. He expected Kurama to turn around and leave like the last time. But now he instead walked up to him, looking down on him.

-´Do you fear me now?´

Yusuke nodded, he admitted he was afraid, he recognised this feeling from when he ran from him the last time. The first warning that he shouldn't search him up again. But his stubbornness had caused him Kuwabaras death. ´If I go with you. This will surely happen again. So I can not.´ Yusuke didn't try to reach out any longer, he couldn't see what he was reaching for. All he saw was this black creature standing above him looking down. This creature that he no longer could identify. Botan arriving at the scene; her voice raised into a high scream the moment she saw the scenery.

-“Botan. You must take Yusuke, Kuwabara and Hiei with you away from here. If you do not I will personally make sure you all suffer the same fate as Kuwabara, since I can not let you suffer as I had. He said he choose death after all” His voice cold yet broken.

-“Kura-

-“Don't try! Every night I walk someone must die I would not like those people to be you!!”

Botan took a step backwards, afraid of what she saw in front of her. “Even so I'd rather have you die by my fangs. Then se you turn into this Botan.”

Chapter finished. Cliffhanger!! What will happen? I just killed Kuwabara. More character death to come? Review! I like to se the number of them growing -__-;;
