Prologue
Egyptian Beauty
* * *
I'm the kind of girl that hangs with the guys
Like a fly on the wall with my secret eyes
Taking it in, try to be feminine
With my makeup bag, watching all the sin
Misfit, I sit, lit up, wicked
Everybody else surrounded by the girls
With the tank tops and the flirty words
I'm just sipping on chamomile
Watching boys and girls and their sex appeal
With a stranger in my face who says he knows my mom
And went to my high school
-No Doubt (Hey Baby)

Hiei waited inside the airport for Kurama. Why Kurama had even gone to Egypt, Hiei didn't know, but he was more interested in the people getting off the plane that lived in Egypt. He was looking at a bag that looked to be made of carpet when someone knocked into him. Turning around to tell the person off, his red eyes looked down about an inch into the darkest blue eyes that looked almost black. "Gomen nasai," said the stranger with the blue eyes.
Hiei could say nothing and instead settled for his ever popular, "Hn."
The stranger backed up and Hiei saw a beautiful Egyptian girl. She had long black hair that stopped just short of her pants line. Her skin was covered in a moisturizer that made it's bronze color tinted with gold. Her heavy lids were outlined in black with gold shadow on them. She had brown lipstick on with just a hint of clear gloss, making her lips look lusty and sensual.
She wore a long flowing white skirt with slits halfway up the thigh on either leg. She also wore a revealing white halter that showed off her bellybutton piercing, which was a red ruby, and a sun tattoo around her entire navel. She stood at four feet eleven inches, just about an inch or so shorter than Hiei was. This was a new experience to him. He was only used to looking down at Koenma and children, not someone who was obviously full grown. She smiled at him and her parents told her something in Arabic that Hiei could not understand. She called after them again in the strange language and turned her gaze back to Hiei. "Sorry again," she said.
Her voice. Hiei loved her voice. It was kind, gentle, but had a deep firmness to it. He said something completely out of character for himself. "No problem, I should have been paying attention." What's wrong with me! If she had been anyone else they would be begging for mercy by now but no. I just can't get mad at her.
She smiled and said, "Goodbye." She ran to catch up with her parents and left Hiei in awe.
"What are you looking at Hiei," came Kurama's voce some ten feet away.
Hiei snapped out of his stupor and said, "Nothing. Let's get out of here." Kurama grinned at Hiei. He had seen the whole thing and Hiei knew it. Hiei blushed and was silently cursing Kurama for catching him off guard about that girl. They went to Kurama's house and dropped off his stuff. They walked to the school to wait for Yuske and Kuwabara. The bell rang and before Kuwabara and Yuske got out the door Hiei saw her again. She was still wearing the same clothes and everything but now she had a piece of paper clutched in her hands. She looked around nervously and Kurama elbowed Hiei in the gut. He knew she was there but under no circumstances was he going over to her. He didn't like feeling like this at all and it was all her fault.
She spotted him. Oh no! Hiei was starting to panic. She smiled at him and walked over. His head looked like a giant cherry and Kurama was starting to shake with fits of laughter. Hiei would have to remember to hit him later. She smiled even more at the sight of the two of them like that. She looked Hiei directly in the eyes and said, "Excuse me but do you know where the bus stop is? I am supposed to take it home but I have no idea how to get there."
Hiei was relieved that she didn't laugh at him like Kurama was laughing. Kurama had finally stopped shaking and said, "Hiei why don't you take her to the bus stop and I will wait here for the others."
Hiei looked at Kurama and but couldn't decide whether to thank him or kill him. I'll decide later. He looked back to the girl and said, "Follow me." She grinned at him and followed him as he had told her.
They walked in silence for five minutes and she finally spoke, "My name is Hala and yours is?"
"Hiei." Now why did I go and do that? I should know by now not to tell people I just meet my name. Oh well, it's not like I can turn back time. She would have found out eventually anyway, I mean, I go back to that hell hole called school tomorrow...
"Thanks for showing me the bus stop, Hiei," she said. He closed his eyes, savoring the way her sultry voice said his name. A few minutes later she cried, "Oh no!" Hiei's eyes snapped open and looked around for the disturbance. "It looks like we missed the bus!" She pointed ahead of them and Hiei saw the bus she was supposed to take make a left. He could easily catch up with the bus but he shouldn't do that here, not with the ningen girl around.
She sat on the bench and sighed. She looked down at her paper and he looked at it too. It was a class schedule and it looked very familiar. It hit him! Her schedule was almost identical to his. The only difference was that where Hiei took his elective rotation Hala took Japanese lessons. It was obvious she knew a little but she must have only started to learn the language. That was fine by him. Maybe he would be able to offer to help teach her or tutor her. After a moment in his fantasy world he snapped back to reality. What's wrong with me? Why am I acting like a fool ningen? He sat down next to her and stared at a brick wall across the street.
"I guess I could wait for the next bus but it doesn't come for another hour," Hala said, examining the bus route times.
Hiei got an idea in his messed up little head. "I could walk you home," he offered.
Her eyes shone as she looked at him. "Would you really?" Before he could stop himself he nodded. She smiled and looked like she was going to hug him but restrained herself. She grinned at him and they stood. She told him her address and he realized it was only about a block away from Kuwabara's. Not too bad. Now I can go over to see her and if I am caught I can make it look like I am trying to find Kuwabara. Hiei caught himself again. He was losing it, big time. What was making him act like this? Hormones? It would be so simple if it were but he highly doubted it.
They walked in silence for ten minutes. He broke the quietness between them this time. "So," he said. "Do you like it here?"
"Oh yes," she exclaimed. "I greatly miss Egypt but here it is so lovely. I enjoy seeing trees and many houses and grass. Where I lived in Egypt you mostly just had small houses, spread widely apart, little grass, and few trees. It is a real difference. Don't get me wrong, Egypt was beautiful too. My whole family lives there but now with my father's new job we live here."
"So you move around a lot Hala?"
"No. This is the first time we ever moved. I grew up in our old house as did my father and his mother but with his skills he had a better opportunity here so we came. My mother was very excited and so am I. We are so proud of my father."
They eased back into silence. Hiei resisted the urge to wrap his arms around her and make her his in every way. They finally reached her house and she went inside. He was thankful for the moment that his mind could rest and he could become himself again. Now to find Kurama and punch him like he had noted earlier.

I stand on the brink of your mind
Living inside a nightmare from which I just can not awaken
Stand on the edge of your life
Just give me another moment from which I will never awaken
Stand on the brink of my own demise
Fallen again for another mistress of burden to idolize
Hoping that one of them will decide
To let me in

Hiei finally reached Kurama's and when he slipped in through the window the kitsune was nowhere to be seen. He looked all around his room and his eyes settled on Kurama's computer. He moved the mouse which made the screensaver go away and clicked on the start button. He selected Spider Solitaire, a game he had gotten hooked on while Kurama had been in Egypt. He beat it five times and smirked as the little fireworks sprung up telling him he won. Finally he heard footsteps on the stairs and Hiei positioned himself behind the door. The screensaver came back on the computer screen and the room looked entirely Jaganshi free. Kurama walked in and closed the door without looking. Hiei was right behind him and when Kurama turned around... SMACK! Hiei's fist collided with the side of Kurama's arm. The kitsune stumbled backwards a few paces and grinned at Hiei.
"I take it everything went well," he said, holding his arm from where Hiei had hit him.
Smirking Hiei flopped onto Kurama's bed. "Everything went fine. She missed the bus and I walked her home." A silly grin crept onto his face as he remembered walking with her. She had kept her pace with him and once she ran ahead to check something. He remembered seeing her slender legs protruding from her skirt. They had the same golden glow as the rest of her skin. Her hair looked like black silk when the wind picked up and he wanted to reach out and touch it. He wanted to touch her, fondle her, taste her.
He was suddenly snapped out of his stupor as Kurama flopped beside him. He grinned slyly at Hiei as if he were the telepath of the two. Hiei's face reddened as he realized what he'd been daydreaming about. Well, he declared to himself. She does have a good body and obviously knows how to flatter it. He actually wanted to go to school tomorrow.
As if sensing this Kurama said, "You know if you asked her out Hiei I am sure she would say, 'yes.' In fact I would be surprised if she even hesitated to."
Hiei's blush deepened. "I don't think I would go that far over a ningen Kurama." Hiei was fooling nobody. Kurama knew that Hiei wanted this girl and honestly he couldn't blame him. Kurama had not told Yuske and Kuwabara about this because he felt no desire to die this young. Hiei's blush deepened as he daydreamed about Hala and Kurama could only smile at his red-eyed friend. Hiei had finally fallen for someone and would know firsthand what a crush felt like.

So I'm just kicking it
I'm counting the days
I hardly can wait, for us to hang out
I'm really missing it in so many ways
I anticipate, us making out

A/N- So the prologue is done and the juicy chapters are still to come. To some of my friends who may be reading this, if you really know me, and my mind, you probably have some idea of the dramatics lined up for this story. As for the rest of you I won't spoil it. Please let me know how you like it so far. I just thought up this plot one night while watching a movie on T.V. I promise to work on Encountering a Goddess as well as this one. I have learned to finish what I start but this one might be faster because the plot is still fresh in my mind. Review please! It might make me work faster! o_0

P.S. sorry if it sucked but I haven't gotten much sleep and I am cold and writing this in the virtual darkness that is the dog room.
