Chapter Five
Frozen Anniversary
Hala spent the better part of that day, deciding on an outfit to wear that day. She finally settled on the white skirt and halter she had worn her first day here. She let her hair down completely and curled some of it to make it look wavy. She then did her makeup. She outlined her eyes in black, and put heavy gold shadow on them. She placed red jewels at the crests of them to go with her bellybutton ring. Then she put on the moisturizer that made her skin shimmer gold and then she studied her lips in the mirror. She couldn't figure out what to do with them, she had gold, brown, or red for lipstick, and clear, tan, and glittery gold for lip-gloss. She finally settled on red lipstick with clear gloss. She looked at herself and smiled, she looked good. There was a knock on her door and her stomach jumped with excitement.
Almost running to the door she grabbed her sandals and pulled them on to her feet. She opened the door and smiled at Ghalib. He wore Arabian clothes as she did and they looked like they would have back home. He offered her his arm and led her to his car. He turned on the radio to break the silence between them and she closed her eyes, savoring the loveliness of the evening. After a few minutes the car slowed to a stop. She saw they were in a field with a picnic set up about a mile's walk from the road. "It's gorgeous," she breathed and Ghalib smiled.
"It's nothing compared to you." Hala giggled and soon they approached the picnic. They sat and he began to serve them.
Hiei had almost followed them, but he was insistent that he respected Hala's wishes. He would not follow her anymore on her dates. He stared at her house, deciding he would wait for her to return. A shiver ran up his spine something was off but he couldn't place it. Thinking he was just feeling weird for not following Hala and Ghalib, he ignored it. In a few hours he would wish he hadn't.
Ghalib had brought a little portable radio. He turned it on and Hala's favorite song came on. Ghalib packed some fruit, sandwiches, cider, and what appeared to be cheesecake. Hala grinned and as Ghalib prepared their plates she filled the glasses. They each picked one up and Ghalib gazed into Hala's eyes. "To the first month, with hopefully more to come." They clinked their glasses together and Hala took a sip of the cider, it was apple. She did not see that Ghalib had not drunk any of his. Instead he placed the glass to his lips and pretended to drink some.
He picked up a strawberry and held it to her lips. She opened her mouth and he placed the strawberry between her front teeth, she bit down gently, the juice releasing in her mouth along with half of the strawberry. She chewed and swallowed. He stuck the rest of the little red fruit in his mouth and ate it. She smiled, and took another sip of the cider. They continued in this fashion, feeding each other. After swallowing she would drink from her glass, it was as if she couldn't stop. Soon Ghalib had refilled her glass five times and she had yet to notice that all the original cider remained in his glass, untouched.
She leaned in after she was full and brought her head close to Ghalib's. Gently she placed her lips on his and felt him respond immediately. Something wasn't right, she felt awkward. Part of her felt as if she were betraying Hiei by kissing Ghalib. Mentally Hala tried to pull herself together. She kept telling herself that she was with Ghalib, not Hiei. She hadn't been with Hiei for over two months. Then an annoying little nagging voice in the back her head said, ah...but whose fault is that? Hiei wanted to get back together and was turned down. If there are any doubts about it now then you shouldn't be here. You should be with Hiei. His lips should be kissing you. And dear, you might want to open your eyes if you don't want to make love to Ghalib right now. In case you forgot, those are his hands traveling up your thighs and the ground you are laying on.
Hala's eyes snapped open and she put her hands on Ghalib's. "I am sorry, but I'm not ready for that. I think the kiss might have been a mistake and I doubt I was ready for it. Could we just act like it never happened?"
Ghalib looked angry, then sad, then there was no emotion. "If that is what you want Hala, we will act like it never happened." In his mind that meant differently than it sounded, but Hala wouldn't know it until she was back home, after their date was over she would know what his words meant.
Hiei grew tired of waiting for Hala, she would be gone for a while. After all it looked like they were heading out of town. He jumped from the tree he was perched on and walked to the park. He breathed in the air around him and he shivered again. The night is warm, he thought. I should not be shivering. Something is greatly wrong but what is it? Maybe I should go find them, they might be in trouble. No. She said to leave them alone and if I'm just being paranoid and they are fine she will probably attempt to disembowel me. Or she will at least kick me like she did Marcus when he annoyed her.
Hiei smirked at the memory. She had been so angry with Marcus and hurt by Hiei that she had taken her frustrations out on his favorite part of himself. Hiei did not particularly wish to know what that pain must feel like. Even though he could easily subdue Hala if he tried, he probably wouldn't.
Hiei continued to walk around the park. He was going to circle it until midnight when Hala would surely be back. If she wasn't home by then and he still had the odd feeling he would go find her. If she was fine, Hiei would let them alone and wait for her at her house. If they needed help he would assist. If he told Hala why he was there then she would not be angry with him. She may thank him and perhaps hug or even kiss him for his help. Then Hiei would scoop her into his arms and take her to the park, to the spot where he had almost made love to her. Then he would make love to her passionately before the stars, certain she wouldn't mind then. Hala would forever be his and Ghalib would forever be out of the picture.
Hiei grinned, now actually hoping that it would come true. That she did need his assistance when he found them and that she would be so glad she let him have her. That would teach Ghalib not to play on his turf and it would let Hala know how much he loved her.
Did I just think love? Yes I did. If anyone found out what I am thinking then my reputation would be ruined. But look at Hala. Could anyone really blame me? She's gorgeous, kind, innocently seductive, and was one of the few that I could be at ease with. In fact, I could probably tell her everything about myself, and I mean everything, and she would probably be fine with it.
Hiei received an idea that he was sure could win Hala back. If she was not in danger, then Hiei would wait in her room for her. It wouldn't be hard to reach her room, it was on the ground floor of her house. When she walked in he would say, "I have something important to tell you Hala." Well, either that or, "Hala, you need to understand why I reacted to the Marcus thing like I did." In honesty, Hiei liked the second choice better. She would most likely listen to what he had to say if she knew what it concerned.
Hiei had been through so much shit, his life had been literally a living hell. He had never been loved and thought he never could be, but he felt like he could find love with Hala. When he had seen her with Marcus, the world crashed upon him. He felt his heart get torn to pieces and he hated that feeling. He had to detach himself from the cause of the pain but found that it hurt even more. His stubbornness took over and it was months before he found out that Hala had not lied to him about Marcus. Now that he knew it, he needed her.
Hiei sighed, he loved Hala more than he cared about his pride. She needed to know why seeing her with Marcus had made him overreact. Maybe then, she could forgive him. Maybe then, he could find and keep love. Only one way to find out.
Hala sighed as she finished off the last of the cider. Telling her he was not very thirsty, Ghalib had allowed her to finish his full glass. She smiled and relaxed in the warm sun, which was beginning to set. She breathed in the warm air and felt Ghalib beside her. He was so very kind to put up with her like this. She lays upon the ground, listening to the nightlife slowly awaken. Her arms were at her sides and her entire body relaxed. She felt as if she could fall asleep right in that spot.
"Hala, I am going to tell you something that may shock you," Ghalib said, brining her back to the world of the living.
"What is it Ghalib," she said softly, just wanting to drift off to sleep.
"Tonight, we are going to have sex and there is nothing you can do because now the chemical I had in the cider should take effect and you won't be able to move."
Hiei looked at the setting sun and felt his stomach clench and unclench. He needed to find Hala but something told him to remain where he was. In his head he felt like destiny was telling him to wait there and Hala would come to him. He felt like something was about to happen and it was important that it did. While he didn't like it, he would obey destiny.
Hala just laughed, "Ghalib you have a good sense of humor." She continued laughing and kept her eyes shut, her stomach still tense at his words. He chuckled and she felt her body relax, he had just been kidding her. She felt something nagging her brain. It took a few minutes to sink in. She had not seen Ghalib drink at all. So if he was telling the truth then he didn't drink because the whole bottle had been tampered with. No, she thought. I saw him drink at the toast. Or did I? The glass hadn't looked any different than it had before we toasted. But Ghalib wouldn't do this to me. Would he?
Suddenly his voice cut through her thoughts. "Yes I do have a good sense of humor Hala. However I am not joking this time."
A/N- Hmm, I left somewhat of a cliffy. In case nobody got the ending, Ghalib told Hala that he put something in the drink to paralyze her so he could have sex with her. Hiei wants to find her, but destiny is telling him that what's about to happen is important. Hala thought Ghalib was kidding but he assures her he isn't. In the next chapter there will be rape, very vivid rape. I do not support rape in anyway and personally think all rapists should be tortured and killed in the longest, most painful way imaginable. If you don't want to read it, don't. In the chapter after the rape scene I will recap the important stuff so if you skip it you won't miss anything but I won't write another chapter because it is important to the plot, that will be apparent later. All in all I hope you people like the story and feel free to flame my next chapter, I won't blame you but I warn you that I will take none of them seriously.
